No. 09 L’Eau Blanche

L'Eau Blanche indeed evokes the colour white to me. Its opening is led by a clean iris. It's dry, slightly rooty and champagne-like, almost starchy but not quite, like a much tamed, de-carroted Hiris. While the starchy, carrot-y aspect of Hiris makes me think of grey, L'Eau Blanche is bleached to a translucent white. The dry down is also undoubtedly white in colour. While the iris fades after about 1 hours or so, it's a laundry-like white musk that takes its place. The white musk employed here strongly reminds me of those in Byredo Blanche, more opaque than transparent, a bit metallic but not soapy sharp. The sillage is relatively soft on the whole, and the longevity can extend to 8 hours. I very much enjoy the delicate opening of iris, which bears Giacobetti's ethereal yet quirky style. Although the dry down is more conventional, it's coherent as a whole. I would recommend it to those who appreciate the dry, starchy aspect of Hiris but would like a much more friendly version, or to those who enjoy laundry white musk such as Byredo Blanche but would like a bit more variation on the theme.

IUNX website describes this fragrance as linen drying on the line with the warmth of the sun, or something along those lines. Its effortlessly undemanding, a smooth cottony floral. As a 'soft" perfume lover this fits into my collection nicely. However, it could potentially be a bit much if oversprayed, use a light hand and it will cooperate. Another bit of information said it was discontinued and then brought back. A definite like for me, I'm sure it will become a love.
