Jack Black Signature Black Mark

The Jack Black company must be given credit for at least being a bit more original than most. To release a truly masculine scent with more than a nod to classical men's fragrances of yesteryear takes some courage. Is this an outdated relic of the past ?. No . But it could have been in the hands of a less skilled perfumer than Yann Vasnier. The ingredients are simple and solid. Just four in fact ,with saffron opening the composition followed by a very aromatic red cedar. Longevity is not great on this one. As is sillage. One of those grossly disappointing performers in perfume. Opening 15 mins are quite enjoyable and what takes over is a very linear nature , though always pretty becomes dull in time. Glad I just got a sample and not the full bottle edit. I just noticed that Yann V is the nose behind this scent. It certainly can be the case that it is hard to go wrong with a perfumer of obvious talent.

This brand is still so underrated! all their products are amazing, solid, high quality I have been using them nonstop for over 12 years. note that i am deeply into niche scents and have over 400 bottles of high end stuff, yet, i find the JB stuff very well done and potent.

If only JB Black projected better and lasted longer , then it would be my holy grail scent. So close to being the best it is annoying. Nevertheless, I will put up with its limitations and still regard it as one of my top 5 fragrances. Lovely stuff 9/10

My impressions of Jack Black Signature Black Mark I have a mixed relationship with this fragrance: I love how it smells, I don’t love how it performs. Up top the saffron was there immediately but dissipates quickly and there’s a very nice woody leather scent that comes in. A pretty straightforward scent on me, essentially leather with a nice woody cedar blend most of the time until dry down when it’s more just a powdery spice. This one is pretty intimate on me, barely radiating out arm’s length immediately after spraying and an hour later it’s basically a skin scent. I get several hours out of this before it really dies off to almost nothing unless I literally put my nose into my inner elbow. And that is using 2 sprays on each arm and 3 to 4 sprays on my chest and neck. For me this one is super safe for work as it’s not offensive and very low projection. I would wear it year-round, although I typically don’t wear it in the heat of our Florida summers. I like this frag and enjoy smelling it on me, but it is rather “weak” in projection and longevity; I can put this on early a.m. and by late afternoon or early evening I can put on a different fragrance altogether since this one is completely gone. I pretty much only use this for office. As always, your results may vary!

For some reason, my first impression was "juniper". After checking the notes I realized it was probably the cedar I was picking up on. Despite it being leathery/woodsy I interpret this as a green fragrance. It smells like a forest in winter.
