Piccadilly '69

My favourite scents have tea in and this is one of them. Specifically Earl Grey tea with a long lasting Bergamot. There is a cool depth here in a similar way to Encre Noir - I want to drink it in the shade of a hot day. It has a simple dry-down with a bitter and slightly smoky note left at the end - presumably cypriol but I’m not sure. At its best for the first two hours, I think it’d be hard to overspray - an easy scent to wear every day - versatile. I got mine at two thirds list price which is good value for 100ml. Excellent scent.

Great use of cypriol similar to Lampblack. Tea, woody, mineral, more modern than old-fashioned. Definitely gives you that feeling of encountering the big city for the first time; fittingly, it gets warmer and cozier in the drydown. Withnail & I without the booze.

I can’t get this in the US (even before this tariff insanity). So frustrating!

I like it! This was an impulse blind buy for me (I blame insomnia) but I think it was a good call. The bergamot + ginger open is so lovely. (It took me forever to place the "spicy woodsy... something" but once I got that it was ginger the whole thing makes sense.) The ginger note fades pretty quickly, followed the bergamot, but the top notes blend smoothly into a delicious cedar + cypriol blend that I found just delicious. The cypriol lightens up the cedar and makes it greener, while the lingering ginger gives it an additional depth. I didn't get much of a leather note, or sense any petrol or patchouli, but the amber does make an appearance in the fragrance's later stages, albeit very much in a supporting role. This fragrance has good performance and a 3-6" sillage. Overall, I think this is a good, hardworking fragrance that I will wear to the office happily. While I wouldn't call this a value, I additionally think that at $130/100ml, it is very reasonably priced.

This really isn’t a fragrance I’d typically gravitate to, but the Withnail & I connection drew me in. Surprisingly, I actually really like it! I was worried it’d be too masculine for me, but it’s definitely unisex in my opinion. It opens with a lovely burst of citrus, and settles into a pleasant springtime green scent. The longevity and projection isn’t the best, but I’d be tempted to buy this if I could get it discounted. It lingers on the skin in a really nice way and seems like it would be good for layering.
