This is a review for the Jaclyn Smith California, I have no idea what the Dana version smells like. This is one of my favorites of the inexpensive late 80's perfumes that I still have a dash of. I love how the aldehydes here brighten what I think would be an otherwise dark perfume. Not that dark perfume is a bad thing at all. But this is bright, lively and very pretty. A musky floral in which the orange flower, geranium and oakmoss keep things interesting. I'm not sure about California, but I love wearing it here in Minnesota as we're expecting a blizzard and this is a great pick-me-up fragrance.

This smells beautiful. I had the little bottle for a while now and I finally try it. Boy I have been missing out I need to wear it more. I damn it only in my arm to smell it. I wear something else and on the other hand I have another perfume. I have to many sometimes I have to do that to get to try some of them. Now I tried it and I like it a lot maybe close to love it.

My mum had a sample. I remember JS California as smelling beautiful..musky and amberish, the first time I ever smelled this olfactory group. This, along with Maroussia (which is still in the market) and Giorgio Beverly Hills remains my favourite of the 80s and early 90s fragrances.

I ... think I have this? I found a mini splash in my grandma’s cabinet that simply says max factor with no other information. Anyway, the juice is amazing. Soft, woody, sweet and lifted. A light sandalwood incense smell but with sea breeze and warm sand. I love it.

I remember loving it. I probably loved it so much because it has Orange Flower in it. Want it again.

I don't think this smells anything as I feel is evocative of California, and most of us always think of Southern California beaches i.e. Malibu, Santa Monica. This is a floral scent with some musk and aldehydes which give it a maturity. It's more like a divorced lady who is very rich and lives in the beach house she won in the divorce settlement. I don't mean to offend anyone by saying this but this is way too mature for me. I'm starting to get into different more exotic florals and woods and incense but this is not for me. I can smell the oak moss lily of the valley orange flower and aldehydes. The whole thing turns into a spice or musk. It reminds me slightly of the fragrance I just reviewed Vivre by Molineux. I think this is for older ladies 50 and up. As an experimental perfumista I check out so many different fragrances. My body chemistry doesn't like this one. Maybe becaue it is not a proper perfume. It doesn't have a head heart and base note formula structure. It's all there in one whiff and it's way too strong. It's probably great on Jaclyn Smith herself. It also smells like Joan Collins or Elizabeth Taylor and to be frank even Elizabeth Taylor enjoyed fruity scents of peach as the peach in her perfumes Black Pearls Violet Eyes. This is almost grandmotherly on me.

So I thought I’d clear up some ambiguity regarding the difference between Dana’s California vs Jaclyn Smith’s California... the Dana version is sort of flat in comparison to the original. It is far more oakmoss heavy and very fleeting. Jaclyn Smith’s California is very floral and does indeed remind me of hiking trails on the central California coast during springtime. Floral, green, pollen and sea salt in the air. It smells like a woman who has freshly come back from that hike once the sun starts to set and the icy ocean wind pushes the fog in. She wraps herself in a cream cashmere sweater and drives home with her windows down. A rare treasure, this one. I suppose the good intentions were there when Dana took over and began producing the fragrance, but all the vibrancy and evocative qualities are gone.

A hairspray aldehyde laden floral with an astringent note of geranium on a mossy base. Reminds me of Charlie, Lapidus Creation and a bit of Azzaro from the 2000s and Gayle Hayman's Sunset Boulevard.I remember this one in chemist shops next to the Vanderbilt, Jean Nate and Blue Grass but classier than all of those. At first it set my allergies off but I gave the sprayer about 20 pumps cleared the old juice out and washed the nozzle and now it's much nicer. A soft mossy earthy scent that would be good for casual weekends, gardening or a hike. It has a real 70s style to it which I like even though it was launched in 89.

C. is one of the best early celeb fragrances available, and the price for vintage bottles has gone through the roof. I have several of the pure parfum minis by Max Factor. C. is a little spicy, a little balsamic and very well blended. The scent reminds me of Herb Alpert's Listen, which is sharper and fresher. C. for women is quite unisex and would be great on a man. Lasting power and sillage are moderate.

I remember this one but nothing really stands out about it. It was a typical 80's fragrance: kind of strong and sweet. The opening was warm and had a "sparkling" quality and the drydown was sour/bitter -- both typical of perfumes of that time. It had great lasting power.

This smells like sun, sand, sea and air. Its not a sweet or floral fragrance. Reminds me of late summer, early autumn and is perfect for daytime wear. Its not an evening perfume or something I'd wear for a night out on the town.

Another fragrance bought for me as a Christmas gift. I was surprised at how good it smells. I love the smell but don't wear it to often.

It is the same as felce Azzura ... It is amaizing scent. Who cares it is so popular in italy ... I do not live in Italy at all.
