Aura for Men

There is a little street in Paris on the left bank just off of the Quai de Montebello called Les Degrés De Notre Dame. It is an utterly charming narrow street with a restaurant which bares the name of the street and a small clump of trees in a little island in the intersection that have fairy lights in them. It is one of my favorite just out of the way spots in Paris. It is so beautiful that movies are shot on this spot. Most recently Anne Hathaway was romanced on this spot by Simon Baker in “The Devil Wears Prada.” And here at this junction under a lilac tree you can smell the most incredible scents of the city. Heady mixtures of the river Seine, the enticing aromas wafting from the restaurant Les Degrés De Notre Dame, and the surrounding flowers and the trees assault the senses. IT is heaven on earth with a view of Notre Dame Cathedral at the end of the street glowing in the night just beyond trees across the river. Aura by Jaccamo Paris is much like this tiny part of paradise in the French capital. It is listed as a woody spicy but to me it is very gourmand. The opening notes of ginger, lemon and sage just burst forth in a splashy rush and for ten delirious minutes you are almost knocked off your feet. This almost put me off at first but what comes next is like a fabulous meal in a great undiscovered bistro. Nutmeg, Tonka bean, cinnamon the smell of fresh cut sweet tobacco leaves and tea hover at the heart of the fragrance. And they make a wondrous combination that both satisfy and strangely leave you hungry for more. It is almost too much to take in as it unfolds. But it is worth it. At the dry down you meet a classic combo of musk, sandalwood, cedar and patchouli, this desert is warm and comforting as a good cup of espresso after a long and enjoyable meal. All of this was a real surprise to me as I only paid including tax $14.95 for this fragrance on-line. I found the very sleek modern bottle design to be intriguing and thought well why not give it a go. How happy I am that I took the chance on this blind buy. It has a fairly good projection and last quite long on my skin. This fragrance that bowed in with the new millennium is a real find for those looking for a great modern fragrance that fits well with all ages and can be worn year round. Bravo to the nose of Henri Bergia for a great work in perfumery. Five gold stars. *****

I very rarely write reviews on scents worn by man around me, but I simply had to say something about AURA. My SO does not wear perfume, when we started dating he had worn only Old Spice Whitewater and was completely numb to anything else. Nevertheless, he gave me a permission to gift him a perfume. I was excited and started planning a gran niche purchase costing me much $$$, but he forbid me telling that he will not wear stuff costing more than 30$. So my quest began. I found AURA on clearance for around 15$ and instantly bought it not expecting much, I though - well then, if he does not want a unique and expensive stuff, let him have this little drugstore thing. Nevertheless since then we have stacked up 6 bottles of AURA in fear of running out. I love this scent. And he loves it too. AURA has the perfect balance of fresh tea and warm sandalwood AND sweet tobacco. This will surprise you - this little 15$ gem has proven to be much better than many niches out there, it has a perfect balance in notes, they are blended together perfectly, it is very unique, very versatile, it has a fantastic silage and it LASTS! He applies in on 7 AM filling the room with this awesomeness and on 9 PM when we snuggle in the coach to watch a movie I can still feel the creamy sandalwood and sweet tobacco. A FANTASTIC THING! I recommend AURA for every male out there. This is a catch. Buy before this goes away.

Took a minor gamble for £5.14 for 40 ml on eBay after seeing a Mr Smelly review. Well worth it. To me it's similar but definitely not the same as Tasmeem by Rasasi. I can smell a similar cardamom accord despite it not being listed. That's what comes across first for me. There's an added element of barbershop and some crisp, fresh greenness. I can easily pick out the nutmeg and ginger. A tiny bit of leather but no tobacco for me. On me it dries down to a creamy clean soap which I think may be the sandalwood. Performance is very good on me. Totally unexpected for a £5 fragrance. Wore it all day yesterday and have had it on for three and a half hours so far today. I could get good wafts of it after six hours yesterday although it's not a powerhouse. If it's not unique then at least it's different and distinctive enough to be interesting. Very happy with this one and the bottle reminds me of a prop from Gerry Anderson's Space 1999.

90's in a bottle. The opening is really aromatic, herbal, a bit old-school and daring, I smell the sage, nutmeg and a dry sandalwood in the opening, I get the same sandalwood smell in Dior Dune for women, they're not clones of each other but the 5 first minutes are really close.. Then it gets a bit powdery and sweet, less harsh, I get more of the tobacco, ginger and tonka combo, in a almost spicy-gourmand way, it smells a bit like Christmas to me, i'm surprised it wasn't mentioned. If you appreciates those 90's scents, the drydown won't surprise you, it reminds me a bit of Versace The Dreamer in the very drydown. It would be a great spring and fall scent, maybe a bit too much in the summer heat and a bit too flat during cold days. Given its price , the value is really great, and I love this bottle so much, it looks futuristic and 70's at the same time.

Lanier, what a genious review!!! I have blind ordered this fragrance just because of that single review. If it hits the mark, Aura will be a great find and Iam sure it will!!I love the sort of feeling which Lanier describes in his review, the narrow street, the bistro, the smells, the meal with the nice espresso ending....fantastic! I always look for such hidden little streets and restaurants when abroad and those two hours you sit there and watch the world turn, people come and go, waiters in hurry...while you eat the delicious lunch of yours...fairytale like! Lanier's gormand approach to this scent makes me almost 100% sure that Aura is something for me! The fragrance should be with me in a few days, so I will come back and write my review about it for sure....
