Aura for Men

There is a little street in Paris on the left bank just off of the Quai de Montebello called Les Degrés De Notre Dame. It is an utterly charming narrow street with a restaurant which bares the name of the street and a small clump of trees in a little island in the intersection that have fairy lights in them. It is one of my favorite just out of the way spots in Paris. It is so beautiful that movies are shot on this spot. Most recently Anne Hathaway was romanced on this spot by Simon Baker in “The Devil Wears Prada.” And here at this junction under a lilac tree you can smell the most incredible scents of the city. Heady mixtures of the river Seine, the enticing aromas wafting from the restaurant Les Degrés De Notre Dame, and the surrounding flowers and the trees assault the senses. IT is heaven on earth with a view of Notre Dame Cathedral at the end of the street glowing in the night just beyond trees across the river. Aura by Jaccamo Paris is much like this tiny part of paradise in the French capital. It is listed as a woody spicy but to me it is very gourmand. The opening notes of ginger, lemon and sage just burst forth in a splashy rush and for ten delirious minutes you are almost knocked off your feet. This almost put me off at first but what comes next is like a fabulous meal in a great undiscovered bistro. Nutmeg, Tonka bean, cinnamon the smell of fresh cut sweet tobacco leaves and tea hover at the heart of the fragrance. And they make a wondrous combination that both satisfy and strangely leave you hungry for more. It is almost too much to take in as it unfolds. But it is worth it. At the dry down you meet a classic combo of musk, sandalwood, cedar and patchouli, this desert is warm and comforting as a good cup of espresso after a long and enjoyable meal. All of this was a real surprise to me as I only paid including tax $14.95 for this fragrance on-line. I found the very sleek modern bottle design to be intriguing and thought well why not give it a go. How happy I am that I took the chance on this blind buy. It has a fairly good projection and last quite long on my skin. This fragrance that bowed in with the new millennium is a real find for those looking for a great modern fragrance that fits well with all ages and can be worn year round. Bravo to the nose of Henri Bergia for a great work in perfumery. Five gold stars. *****

I very rarely write reviews on scents worn by man around me, but I simply had to say something about AURA. My SO does not wear perfume, when we started dating he had worn only Old Spice Whitewater and was completely numb to anything else. Nevertheless, he gave me a permission to gift him a perfume. I was excited and started planning a gran niche purchase costing me much $$$, but he forbid me telling that he will not wear stuff costing more than 30$. So my quest began. I found AURA on clearance for around 15$ and instantly bought it not expecting much, I though - well then, if he does not want a unique and expensive stuff, let him have this little drugstore thing. Nevertheless since then we have stacked up 6 bottles of AURA in fear of running out. I love this scent. And he loves it too. AURA has the perfect balance of fresh tea and warm sandalwood AND sweet tobacco. This will surprise you - this little 15$ gem has proven to be much better than many niches out there, it has a perfect balance in notes, they are blended together perfectly, it is very unique, very versatile, it has a fantastic silage and it LASTS! He applies in on 7 AM filling the room with this awesomeness and on 9 PM when we snuggle in the coach to watch a movie I can still feel the creamy sandalwood and sweet tobacco. A FANTASTIC THING! I recommend AURA for every male out there. This is a catch. Buy before this goes away.

Took a minor gamble for £5.14 for 40 ml on eBay after seeing a Mr Smelly review. Well worth it. To me it's similar but definitely not the same as Tasmeem by Rasasi. I can smell a similar cardamom accord despite it not being listed. That's what comes across first for me. There's an added element of barbershop and some crisp, fresh greenness. I can easily pick out the nutmeg and ginger. A tiny bit of leather but no tobacco for me. On me it dries down to a creamy clean soap which I think may be the sandalwood. Performance is very good on me. Totally unexpected for a £5 fragrance. Wore it all day yesterday and have had it on for three and a half hours so far today. I could get good wafts of it after six hours yesterday although it's not a powerhouse. If it's not unique then at least it's different and distinctive enough to be interesting. Very happy with this one and the bottle reminds me of a prop from Gerry Anderson's Space 1999.

90's in a bottle. The opening is really aromatic, herbal, a bit old-school and daring, I smell the sage, nutmeg and a dry sandalwood in the opening, I get the same sandalwood smell in Dior Dune for women, they're not clones of each other but the 5 first minutes are really close.. Then it gets a bit powdery and sweet, less harsh, I get more of the tobacco, ginger and tonka combo, in a almost spicy-gourmand way, it smells a bit like Christmas to me, i'm surprised it wasn't mentioned. If you appreciates those 90's scents, the drydown won't surprise you, it reminds me a bit of Versace The Dreamer in the very drydown. It would be a great spring and fall scent, maybe a bit too much in the summer heat and a bit too flat during cold days. Given its price , the value is really great, and I love this bottle so much, it looks futuristic and 70's at the same time.

Lanier, what a genious review!!! I have blind ordered this fragrance just because of that single review. If it hits the mark, Aura will be a great find and Iam sure it will!!I love the sort of feeling which Lanier describes in his review, the narrow street, the bistro, the smells, the meal with the nice espresso ending....fantastic! I always look for such hidden little streets and restaurants when abroad and those two hours you sit there and watch the world turn, people come and go, waiters in hurry...while you eat the delicious lunch of yours...fairytale like! Lanier's gormand approach to this scent makes me almost 100% sure that Aura is something for me! The fragrance should be with me in a few days, so I will come back and write my review about it for sure....

....and so I continue! Aura has arrived yesterday and I involved myself in it entirely since. Lanier's review is spot on! It has the charm he describes as well as a timeless elegance which is casual enough and lets you linger with feeling of sophisticated well being. Its a modern, good taste fragrance which at the same time stands the test of time. This is true for both the bottle design and the scent. It belongs to a special, hidden germ category with a totally own personality just like Trussardi's Phyton for example. Theres no trend it follows therefore its perfect for an all year 'round signature scent. Comfortable, friendly, sophisticated delicately fresh with a special Aura/Personality! Amazing job from Jacomo/Henri Bergia, Bravo!!!

I bought Aura about 7 or 8 years ago, the modern minimalist bottle caught my attention and I was looking also bor a fresh citrus fragrance. Well, this perfume was a great surprise and unlike many other scents this one gets better with time, the drydown is beautiful, silky, powdery slightly sweet and floral and yet masculine. But what I like the most about Aura is that everytime I wear it I get many, many compliments and (to me) that's a good reason to keep using Aura by Jacomo.

The neon green bottle lends cognitive dissonance to this rather smoldering tobacco and tea scent. Perhaps a muted hunter green would have been more appropriate. The design is really cool, though. This one is shockingly enjoyable despite the price, and the dry-down somehow reminds me of that sweet, agrestic, coumarinic aroma of walking through a meadow on a Spring day here in the Northeast. For that alone, I am hooked.

this might not smell the same - but side by side it has the same initialblastvibes of Dior`s Higher with citrus instead of pear .. It is as clean green and soft metallic fresh as it can get .. pleasant and comfortingly strong i.m.o. I will soon grab a full bottle , for now I have a decant - and I enjoy it a lot! spring / summer pleaser .. well done Jacomo

It's nice fragrance. Fresh lemon, ginger and cinnamon after warm amber at last. Good spicy scent very manly. Quite longevity 6 hrs on me, Good for everyday and good for office wear too. Aura is the good one from Jacomo. This is one of my favorite,

This one took me by surprise. A blind buy, I was purchasing a few designer fragrances from an online discounter and I decided to add a cheapie to the cart just to round the price up and get something extra for fun. Aura for Men caught my eye due to the distinctive bottle so I took it. I didn't have high expectations for it, but it turned out to be a gem. Aura for Men is a very nice aromatic green fragrance. It has a woody and musk opening and as it begins to dry down some nice spice notes come to the fore and I detect the green tea and ginger here. As Aura for men dries on the skin it settles with warm, musky, tonka notes with tobacco and hint of spice in the background. A nice warm, confident, masculine scent, not too bold, not particularly unique or amazing but very much a decent, peasant scent. Aura for Men is great value, it lasts about 4 or 5 hours and projects moderately well and it is around $12 or less for a 40mL bottle. A good fragrance for a young man, as a school scent during autumn, Aura for Men could be a reasonable budget signature scent for everyday use, office, school, college etc. Cheap and synthetic yes, but a nice scent and good performance to price ratio, 3.5/5.

I've waited for a couple of months before my review and it was a good decision. Why? At first I was disgusted by this fragrance. I was almost going to give it away or keep as toilet refresher. The initial opening was the worst for me, the harsh tobacco opening which is soured by the tea note. Not sure if the scent gets better as consumed, or my nose got a hold of it, but I started to like or at least appreciate this fragrance. Shortly after spraying the sour tea note goes away and tobacco becomes more soft with round citrus shows up. It's still a bit powdery/soapy but sandalwood is good in this one. I somehow get Davidoff Cool Water in the background covered with tobacco and powdery woody notes. The scent is not sweet by any means, i would say dry and powdery. Performance is also very good comparing its price! It settles down quickly into powdery sandalwood but lasts longer than expected 4-5 hours easily noticable with low projection and 7 hours up close on skin. Overall this is a good fragrance for its price and suitable for everyday use. Just nothing special.

We are talking about a different scent here. It is different from all others I have in my collection, which is already a positive point! The bottle is beautiful, masculine, with simple lines and modern design. Another one positive point! About the fragrance: I have already seen comments that this scent reminds Gucci Envy. I don’t know Envy, so I can’t give an opinion about it. However, I can say that it reminds me, during some nuances of its aroma, Gucci Rush with that mix of sandalwood, patchouli, musk, etc. - notes that both have in common. Aura has a well blended heart, because the nutmeg, the tonka and the tobacco are very noticeable during its evolution. The cinnamon I didn’t feel, neither the green tea. The lasting is very good but, it stays very close to the skin, what I put as the 1st negative point, since I like scents that exhale. Aura is a great fragrance for office wearing because, as its name says, it creates an “aura” around you, letting you perfumed without bother others noses.

If you want an interesting fragrance for the price of a Happy Meal get this. This is interesting, to say the least. Doesn't mean you'll like it but it's interesting for sure. It starts off a little off-putting so I was a little weary off the first spray. However, this fragrance develops a lot. Once you get past that weird citrusy ginger sage opening you're greeted with notes such as tobacco and sandalwood. I mainly get those two notes but the composition as a whole makes for a niche-like experience. Not the most natural smell, but a unique approach to say the least. I only paid $7 for my bottle and it scratched the itch when I was bored of the same old stuff. I say go for it.

Impulse blind buy. While buying Christmas gifts online saw this at a ridiculous price and went for it. Felt strangely muted at first try, so let it sit or “steep” for a week or two - and it blossomed into life. The plastic flacon is stylish, functional and well-made - you could safely carry this in a gym bag. The spray is better than most, metered to dispense a light mist. It’s kind of fresh (ginger?) at the start and then a subdued tobacco paired with green tea like a Starbucks Matcha Latte. Aura is like a lighter, green tea version of Jacomo de Jacomo. Can’t imagine anyone finding this offensive in any way. Performance is average and projection modest. Great value.

@ Chrismriley, I wonder how do you manage to find such a scale "Ages 48 - 62"... It would be easier with 50 - 60, wouldn't it? ;-) To be serious, I hope I will wear what I want , even when I will be older... I don't see why an old man should wear an old fragrance, and a joung man new scents... In my rotation, I use Spicebomb, CK Shock for him, Roadster, and many other scents, and I use Pino Sylvestre, Sung, Bijan ... Wear what you want, when you want. The only important thing remains to be easy with a Fragrance...

Aura, to my nose, is a woody/aromatic tobacco scent. I do get the spices, but they're not pronounced enough for me to declare this a "woody spicy". There's a stronger presence of tonka, green tea and sage. Definitely a tobacco scent, but a fresh one. Tobacco leaves, not Skoal. I appreciate the old school and nutty tonka vs the sweet/creamy one that's more popular these days (see Versace Eros). I think this one works for all ages and is easy to like and wear. As per usual, another solid offering from Jacomo.

This is now the literally price of a milkshake at discounters. At that price (think i saw $7 on one of them??) I could truly reccomend this to any person on earth. This has now dethroned horizon by guy laroche as the ultimate super cheapie hidden gem. Its not even just "worth its cheap price", theres things here that you dont see often, only seldomly. The tea and tobacco is quite interesting, almost like a kind of aquatic sensation in a way.

De belles notes pour un prix vraiment peu cher (10euros), ayant Amor pour Homme je retrouve dans ce parfums certaines facettes de ce dernier. Toutefois Aura n'est pas aussi bien travaillé je trouve. Mais à ce tarif là, ce parfum vaut vraiment le coup ! Nices notes for a cheap price (about 10euros), i got Amor pour Homme which is similar to Aura. However Aura is not so nice compared to Amor pour Homme. But for the price you can't go wrong ;)

Quite nice and a little wierd. A sweet citrus/tea opening. Later the tobacco kicks in a little. I think more tobacco in this would have been better. The drydown is the best part of this frag which is a slightly sharp and pleasantly sweet smell, ending up slightly powdery but nice. Staying power is moderate, sillage is a little below par. An unusual modern bottle design made from 2 different plastics. Aura is a fairly pleasant man's scent.

This is a very nice and safe scent. I like it because this is light and long lasting. This keeps projecting close for hours without assaulting any nose. I enjoy Green Tea sandalwood and Tobacco most. This has modern feel and decent depth. Good work by Jacomo. I like the bottle too bit different from others.

Fresher lighter version of Tsar or Quorum. Easy to wear during the day or in the office. Projection is limited but the scent is masculine but still light.

Um, i put this on kind of heavy today, and got 2 unsolicited compliments. I was so suprised that i felt the need to post this 🤷

Adding my two cents. Synthetic = yes, but most fragrances are. Smells better on my shirt than on my skin.

Best freshie cheapie. You'd be insane not to pick up or borrow a bottle. Bang for Buck out the Wazoo!

At the price i paid it was worth it, smells good and that's it nothing special or anything just good.

The first spray , top note, was a bit synthetic to my nose The 'dry-down' is really nice.

This is a pleasant scent for sure. It's a very green fragrance with a touch of spices but it's so subdued that I don't think you can offend anyone. You can spray this one twenty times and it will never be overwhelming for you or the people around you. This is a good warm weather fragrance where you want something that won't overwhelm people. Those that happen to catch your scent will think you have just finished showering using an expensive shampoo. Green, sweet and fresh. Very nice for the price.

A bit of a strange one this. Bought it as a blind buy, and really didnt like it at first. But its begining to grow on me. I get the dry tobacco, but really not the tea and lemon. For me, its more like a dirty vetiver. I also get some liquorice, but just a hint of it. Not much of a preformer, but really really cheap here, so kind of a dumb reach anyway

I will have to agree with OhNose. This one would be fine if it wasn't for that industrial chemical note that sticks around from opening to dry-down ... and BEYOND! Whatever that scent is, it simply does NOT go away, even 12 hours later + a shower! Unbelievable! It reminds me of some long-ago childhood nightmare! I cannot detect a single note that is listed above in this concoction. Jacomo Aura is going to the back of my closet or the trash, one of the two.

A light fresh-sweet fragrance in the same vein of Gucci Rush for Men but less complex. It was a gift for me, I didn't like it enough to keep it in my rotation (was too sweet & unbalanced in the middle/base, cause of tonka-bean, nutmeg & cinnamon combo that took the stage & covered the fresh start & even tobacco), so I gave it away. Below average longevity (3 hrs), almost undetectable after 2 hrs (very close to skin as 'Cassiano' said). My rank 6/10. ☣☣

This is a green-sweet fougere, quite interesting, changes a lot. It doesn't have the tea note at all, but it does have some cool leaf smell, more like reed, or grass. It does have some harsh element in it which I don't like that much. Becomes a skin scent really quick so it won't be bothering. It's kind of weird, cause it smells like you take Versace Dreamer and spoil it with salty-green elements. Not a fan at all, but not offensive.

I don't get the positive reviews for this one... To me, Aura smells like a bag of Potpourri that has been stored in the back of your grandparents (previously flooded) wood-floored basement closet. Not good.

Did not like this at all, a weird sweet chemical smell that does not hold well, i got my wife the female version and thats actually quite nice and much longer lasting.

Blind bought it for $5. I do not like this one at all. It has this note in it that smell like some sort of industrial chemical, and it is overpowering everything else. And it doesn’t go away with time. It would be a fine fresh and woody fragrance if it weren’t for that. But that glue/nail varnish note just ruins this completely for me.

Couldn't resist getting this guy for the great price and the crazy bottle; tacky but interesting (like myself!) with a daring juice inside. As for the scent, it's very strange. I can't say I like it but I wouldn't say I dislike it either, my nose is just trying to work through the confusion. The fruity freshness at the top is sour, but not like a lemon. The sourness is like sour cream; kind of tangy and heavy and gamey. The body of this scent has a great tobacco leaf presence, very similar to D&G The one, but with better longevity/projection. I get about 7 hours until this is gone, and it projects such that I get whiffs every once in a while. For the record, of the four times I've worn this fragrance I have not received any comments nor compliments. UPDATE: So I went through a spell of just despising this fragrance. The "gorse" top note disgusted me and I never wore this. Instead, I used it as deodorant in hopes to use up the bottle. Well, attempting the virtue of patience, I tested this on my wrist today and after the first half hour, I love the gentle sandalwood and spice fragrance. Tea and tobacco soften the spices but, in my opinion, aren't the star notes. This is all about sandalwood and it's very understated and classy. I think a reason I dismissed it (unfortunately) is the plastic bottle. The chintzy, juvenile bottle really misrepresents the quietly pretty juice inside, but that's a downside I'm willing to take. I'm beginning to appreciate this fragrance and I think it was worth the bargain buy.

Originally, I purchased a 75ml bottle of Aura as a blind buy based on the excellent reviews and its very low price. Initially though, I'd have to say I did not like it. I gave it several full wearings, but it didn't really grab me. So Aura got overlooked in my fragrance collection and, eventually, I decided to sell it online a few months later. Just before wrapping it up to send it off to the buyer, I though I'd sneak one last sniff. I sprayed some on my arm and boy was I surprised, I really liked it! Fast forward 6 months and I decided I had to have Aura back on my shelf. So I purchased a 40ml bottle (for less than $US8.00!). It arrived with a haul of 5 other fragrances including 3 well known niche heavyweights. In the equivalent of a fragrance orgy, I applied all the scents to separate patches of bare flesh on my arms. A couple of hours later, amidst the fumes, I could clearly detect Aura punching its way out of the mix. Yes, Aura is a surprise and a pleasant one at that. Perhaps it's the gorse note that makes this so distinct, I'm not sure. But I'm pleased to have this plucky, original fresh scent back in rotation. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Update: June 2014 Gave it away to a friend.

Reminds me strongly of Vermeil/Guepard for Men (named one or the other depending on how the stars are aligned when you come across a bottle). Aura is a lighter, fresher, cleaner version of this overall scent profile, which I suppose aligns it by proxy with the original 1984 Davidoff for Men, which I'm told was a woodier and slightly higher quality version of Vermeil/Guepard. Whereas its progenitors dealt in pipe tobaccos with honey and cherry accents and with a fair bit of animalic snarl, Aura shifts the focus briefly to cigarette tobacco for a couple of minutes at the start, before transitioning from its herbal-citrus top to a fermented cigar tobacco leaf in the heart and base. Jacomo's distinguishing feature is a pleasantly understated sandalwood accord in the heart and base that carries the unlit cigar element through an eight hour workday. At $10 for 100 mls, it's hard to find fault with Aura for Men. Between this and Vermeil, I'd say it's the more wearable of the two. However, if you want to make an unforgettable (and probably positive) impression, Vermeil/Guepard is your boy.

An affordable fragrance, which has a sharp opening but stays close to skin very soon after... I applied 6 heavy sprays 0 - 1 mins - Strong, harsh green tea and citrus, floods the area 1 mins - 45 mins - 6 inch projection. This frag smells better on card than on me- on card it has more green and ginger and striking affect, but on me it has a warped mature ginger affect which is slightly strange and not nice IMHO. I get some flashes of a weak version of Moschino Friends Ages 48 - 62 45 mins - 2 hours - 3 inch projection. More mature and a little dated to my nose 2 hours - 3.5 hours. Close to skin and moss-like smokiness (not listed) turns this frag a bit of a mess I blind bought this for £7.50 inc P&P for 40 ML bottle so very affordable, however it is really not for me and even at that price I cannot find this value for money Quirky bottle design, with 2 layers of plastic - like something from Ikea - like the sleek contours! Young and contemporary bottle, albeit plastic, yet the frag depicts maturity... Not for me

A decent sandalwood note for the money here, that's for sure. Thankfully, there is no iso e super overload, nor anything else that comes across as clearly "synthetic." It's not too sweet or too sharp, but don't expect really strong spice or tobacco notes. Instead, it's nicely balanced, and it's not a typical "masculine" woody/spicy fragrance because it's got a clear sandalwood note (which is a little powdery, but not soft, as is often the case for many "feminine" fragrances). Another way to think of it is as a variation on Burberry's London for Men, as this one has a tea note. It's a bit dry and the first 20 minutes or so is a bit rough, but it can be good for office/school in all but very warm or very cold weather (IMO). It's not animalic and the sweetness is minimal. The only issue I have with it is that it doesn't seem to have the depth I would hope for, considering the notes I can detect in it.

If I could trap and bottle the scent of a beautiful summer and breezy late Spring day (May-June) in the fields of a small New England town, this would be the scent. It has such a wonderful late Spring composition with its smooth greenish, touch of woods, and that airy vibe that blew me away the moment I smelled it. I'm not trying to over-sell or hype this fragrance. I'm just sharing my experience. I'm sure some people will just fine this meh. But if you grew up in a New England town and spent time in open grassy quiet fields on a sunny breezy day, chances are you will enjoy how Aura for Men takes you back to those days. And at $12 for a 2.4oz shipped! It's an easy blind buy. This truly is a gem of a fragrance and will always be in my collection. A hidden gem in today's world of mostly aquatic and citrus scents.

I was drawn to the tea notes and imagined something like bvlgari's tea scent. Well, Aura doesn't show much of its tea aspect on me, it's merely some fresh sweet aromatic blend. I was almost cheated by this opening, don't expect that it will turn to a huge mist of smokey and dry wood notes 5min later. It's like...just inhale some fresh forest/country air and next minute you enter a dusty but warm room and find yourself among a half dozen men who are smoking. This is the part i like most about this scent. After this phrase, it loses the dry smokey and woody aspect slowly and smells more like lots other fresh aromatic/spice scents in the market. But overall, it's a nice try, considering the cheap price.

I bought several bottles to give away at Christmas time based on reviews and the bottle. That bottle looks amazing on my husband's dresser, is the match of an acrylic Tiva vase that always shows flower arrangements beautifully. I love the container! The fragrance is a fairly simple eau de cologne, a lemony basilly summer scent that would be office friendly and couldn't offend a soul. On a hot summers morning if the choice was no fragrance (you've run out) or the scent of Aura on your body I would definitely be rocking it. Purchased for the price of an Axe/Lynx this is very good value!

Cool, unusual bottle nice edition to any collection. When I first smelled this I thought, here we go, yet another synthetic mess. As time passed it slowly became this very nice calming/relaxing scent that last a very long time. Stays real close to the skin. I ordered this because I love citrus scents and the notes and reviews mentioned just that. However, if you want an old school citrus scent similar to Armani, Dior, etc. this one is far away from them. I will keep mine because of the bottle and the very nice dry-down scent that is long lasting.

I have the 2001 batch of this, dont quite know If there are differences between the older batches and the new ones. It seems that It is no longer available. The scent is very tea like, it has good performance, and overall this one is a good scent. Cant go wrong with it, and i find It very hard to understand how in the world this one was 10$ when It was on the market.

Smell of a breezy sunny Spring day before the hotter days of summer. Color of bottle matches scent of juice. Much better on shirt than my skin. I'm a high testosterone guy so fragrances don't mix well on my skin. Limit sprays of Aura to 2 or 3 because anymore makes it too synthetic. Let the breeze carry your scent in the air. That's where the magic happens.

That really smells similar to STR8 Unlimited. I use STR8 Unlimited deo and AURA after gym. Aura is really pleasant to my nose. Unfortunately doesn't last on me - 2 to 4 hours. I have JACOMO ROUGE and JACOMO de JACOMO. And these two are beasts in terms of longevity and sillage. I wish AURA had this qualities. 7 out of 10.
