Green Water

Side by side, the opening of Green Water is remarkably similar to Creeds' Selection Verte. Natural mint, cleverly blended with fresh lime. There is a difference in the drydown, with the Creed smelling more refined and lasting slightly longer. That being said, Green Water smells fantastic and costs a fraction of the Creed. No, it isn't a clone, but a similar smelling, fairly high quality scent with a shared backbone. Still relevant for those seeking a refreshing summertime scent without breaking the bank, or, far worse, smelling like every other guy.

I got a sample today and I like it a lot! I did not even know it was a mens perfume until I went here. This is definitly unisex to me! I can smell the lemon and ginger most of all the notes, a little bit of the carrot and lily-of-the-valley. It is a blast a freshness and spicieness at the same time, and I recommend women to give it a try!

I like it, even if this one seems "old fashion"! Very fresh with a lemon blast that turns in an oakmoss and green fragrance. Oddly and despite its citrusy side, this is an unusual and nice scent, far away from many new "sportwaters". Perfect in warm weather. Five sprays and you will have a good longevity.

Great scent from the 70ties impossible to find it here ... I found it back in Paris!

This is a review for the older formula of Green Water in the more classic-looking green bottle, with a section comparing it to the latest formula in the current fancier modern style bottle. Green Water (older formula) opens with very natural smelling spearmint supported by a gorgeous grassy herbal lemon verbena. The spearmint stays throughout the scent's limited development, but it very slowly recedes as time passes, allowing the grassy herbal lemon to take more of the starring role with the mint now in the supporting role. Hints of other light herbs and florals add further support to the two key notes but they are so well-blended it is difficult to identify them. The only identifiable base notes are a relatively well-concealed oakmoss and light musk tandem that start to peep into the late heart of the scent through the dry-down, with the spearmint reclaiming its starring role as the lemon verbena finally disappears late. Projection is below average to average and longevity is average. Green Water (older formula) is a great example of mint done right. It is extremely natural smelling and outside of the substantially more expensive Menthe Fraiche by Heeley you can't do better (or even as good). The mixture of the lemon verbena and spearmint works extremely well, and the oakmoss while very subtle plays a key role in supporting the scent during its later stages. Green Water (older formula) stays fresh 'till the last, and is quite the invigorating one indeed. It may be pretty minimalist and linear in its development, but Green Water (older formula) is an excellent scent and an even better value in its older formula guise, earning a strong 4 stars out of 5. A definite strong buy on this version of Green Water by Fath. Now for a quick comparison with the current formula in the more modern clear bottle that sells for only about $25.00 a large bottle... The two formulas open very similarly, but the spearmint and lemon verbena in the older formula are just a hair more pronounced and natural smelling. Also, while completely missing from the older formula, in the current formula a musty indolic jasmine undertone just starts to peep through into the top notes, barely detectable at this point. It is the heart notes where the two scents strongly diverge... The older formula stays pretty linear, with the main change in the early heart being the spearmint and lemon verbena swap starring and support roles, but in the current release they all but disappear, being engulfed by the now very strong musty, almost moldy jasmine that dominates with just the faintest whiff of a lavender floral undertone. The dry-down is where the scents are again quite similar where the spearmint regains the focus in the current version as the musty jasmine recedes and all but finally disappears (the spearmint never left the older formula) with both scents having the oakmoss undertone support. The main difference is the oakmoss is just a tad stronger in the older formula and the current formula never completely shakes its musty undertone... Projection is below average and longevity is poor to below average in the current release. The bottom line is the older formula is far superior to the current formula and would without hesitation be the one I'd buy (although I now own both). The current formula gets a good to very good 3 to 3.5 star out of 5 rating in its own right and for the money is an exceptional value, but the musty jasmine heart is just not the same stuff and is somewhat unnecessarily off-putting. I really do not know why the house of Fath added that in, but they should strongly consider removing it as it ruins the great minty herbal nature of the scent.

I have no difficulty to imagine how great Green Water was back in the day (the perfume was first launched in 1947).. Because I still like what remains of its past greatness in the bottles sold nowadays.. I can also see how this scent was an influence on every fresh green scent that followed and somehow surpassed Green Water, whether a fresh fougère or an aromatic citrus composition (Eau Sauvage, Paco Rabanne pour homme, Cerruti 1881, etc.) The bright top notes are awesome and provides a great freshness in an "eau de cologne" fashion.. It calms down a little bit too fast to an almost unnoticeable (but quite good) minty drydown which makes Green Water eligible for post shower anecdotic wearing only.. Spray liberally if you want to sniff anything after a couple of hours.. The cheapening of the fragrance is obvious but it strangely still evokes something luxurious from another era.. This is the typical kind of scent that I can see as worthy of a vintage bottle hunt..

Jacques Fath Green Water (1993) - aromatic mint - An eau de cologne like concentration, made by #vincentroubert , focused on Mint and complimented with an herbal spicy top. I get Basil, licorice-like Caraway, and a melange of citrus top notes. I also get fresh Ginger that help radiate the freshness and a perfume that I recommend overspraying and re-spraying to enjoy the top and mid. Drydown is a traditional yet balanced oakmoss and woody base.

Nice citrus, green, minty fragrance. On first spray really reminded me of Beckham Instinct and Jardins Du Sud by Fouquet. There's also a bit of CK Truth in there because of the basil and a bit of 4711. Not really surprised since this is out for awhile now. Definitely lasts like an EDC so find a good discounter if you like this.

(this review is for the latest version) Starts out as a brisk, refreshing citrus and mint, but is a bit too close to Lemon Pledge territory. Like Caswell-Massey Verbena, one of the notes physically burns my nose with a tingly strength, and this is really unpleasant when sniffing repeatedly to write a review. In the end, this makes me think of nothing but toothpaste, and I universally hate standard mint toothpaste because I feel that the use of such strong flavoring in every brand is intrusive and unwelcome. By analogy, this scent is abrasive, inconsiderate and unnecessary.

Minty fresh and aromatic. Smells like mint mouthwash. If you were to smell this from a bottle not knowing what it is, you wouldn’t guess it’s intended to be a fragrance. This one really truly embodies “fresh out of the shower”. This kind of clean freshness is similar to LV’s Imagination, but they don’t smell alike, if that makes sense.

This is a little bit old school style made. But there is something special and different. I love carrot notes. It's very green, fresh and herbal scent. When I first smell it, it was very nice suprise for me.

The opening is nice but doesn't last that long. After that the lily of the valley really takes over. There may be a hint of ginger, etc., but if you don't like lotv this isn't for you. The base notes are weak by comparison, but there is clearly some moss present. If I had been consulted on this one I would have put in more of the moss note, and next time I wear it I intend to layer it with Zents' Moss fragrance. Longevity is very good but projection ("sillage") is moderate. I have only tried the clear glass bottle, not the one pictured, which has frosted glass. And I agree with those who consider this unisex, other than the brief opening. UPDATE: Sprayed twice to the chest today. I get a bit more of the citrus, ginger, etc. far into the drydown. The oakmoss is obvious but not strong. The amber is also very subtle and this is not sweet. I'm still getting a lot of lotv, but this time the overall blend seems more balanced, which is not at all unusual in my experience, though of course that may just be my experience. UPDATE #2: This time I'm getting what I think is rockrose ("amber"?), which creates the effect drseid calls musty. However, for me it never gets dry enough for it to impress me that way. The jasmine and rockrose are strong here, but they don't drown out the other notes. UPDATE #3: Was able to get some of the vintage and this is really something special, putting scents like GIT to shame, in a sense.

This is a vintage find I found on Ebay after the urging by someone that it reminds him of Versace Green Jeans (a fragrance I wore as a child and am still searching for a replacement for, as it was discontinued). I ended up getting - at this person's recommendation - the 1990's edition frosted 125 ml bottle. But what I can say is that this fragrance is horrible. It smells like a Bath and Body Works shower gel for women. The main note in it is lemongrass. Performance is literally non-existant. Like you can't smell it. What a shame, as I had such high hopes for this one. 1/5

Green Water is disappointing. Having first tried the rich and densely-green body wash, I expected the cologne to smell the same. The body wash catapults its essences of mint and vetiver, but the cologne merely tosses a few fleeting citruses and a vague minty green scent. It's weak, sparsely composed, and unremarkable. There isn't a single compelling trait to be found. Longevity ranges from five to ten minutes, depending on whichever way the wind blows.

I love it! Clean, green, minty and refreshing and forever a classic. This beautiful simple fragrance, although fleeting is a reminder that there are things that are meant to be enjoyed in the moment. Feel free to overspray to punch in a few more hours from this lovely fragrance. Works beautifully when layered with any citrus centered fragrance.

A fantastic old school green fragrance. Kinda like when you take a shower with a nice citrus soap, wash your teeth with minty fresh toothpaste in a very clean bathroom. Then jump into a bed with fresh clean sheets. I love it, will buy it again when this one runs out. It just feels real nice and clean.

I'm not sure what concentration I tried here, but I suspect it's not the parfum. Still, it's a lovely European-style green cologne with a spiky, spritzy feel. As it dries, it proves to be a citrus cologne in the Old World style, but without the usual oily essential heaviness of the Neroli. Nice!

The name says it all. It smells like green water. Very limey without being to common. The floral and base notes combine well to create quite a refined elegance. Not for a very common man. Does VERY well in high heat and humidity.

I tried reformulated EDT version. Its much closer to newer EDP because I can smell natural neroli and mint. Neroli smell natural, but performance is like EDC, after 10 minutes I have to nosedive into wrists to smell it.

nice!!! why not?? for me it s a old school style made scent.. but , anyway i like it!! it s similar to eau savage and other of that kind scents, but nice!!!

not to strong very lime, good to wear on vacation when your at an island resort.
