Lilas Exquis

I just made a blind buy with Lilas Exquis, and I'm not regretting it at all. I love lilacs and hyacinths, so I thought this would be a winner based on the notes. This is the best lilac I have ever come across in the past 25 years I've been collecting perfumes. The presentation of the box/bottle is elegant and feminine. I like that the bottle comes with a very functional magnetic cap, and it's a very solid bottle. The spray comes out evenly and in large squirts, so all I need are 2 sprays of this and I'm set for the day. There is nothing powdery or excessively sweet about this perfume, which I figured would come from the violet or blueberry, it is just a beautiful purple floral with hints of linden blossom, a mild sweetness (not at all candy-like) and I smell a slight dewy green note, even though it's not listed. I was noticed immediately when I put this on and went outside in the freezing weather, someone commented on how great I smell while I was at the local coffee shop. So the sillage must be good. After 6 hours I can still smell myself very well in my little perfume cloud by my desk, it's not weak at all to where I have to put my arm to my nose just to smell it. My husband said of the perfume, "that is what a beautiful woman should smell like." If he notices it, then that's saying a lot. There are similarities between Lilas Exquis and Aerin Lilac Path, but I really prefer Lilas Exquis because it's much less sharp to the nose than Lilac Path, as in, it doesn't induce any sneezing, and the notes in Lilas Exquis just seem softer and more refined. (There is something in all of the Aerin perfumes that make me sneeze.) I would say the longevity and sillage with Lilas Exquis is much greater than Lilac Path. Lilas Exquis remains linear for the 6 hours it wears on me, but that's fine with me, since I want to keep smelling that beautiful lilac for the entire duration of the scent. I will be wearing this often, since it's not often both my husband and I agree on the same scents.

Odd, isn't it, dear sniffers? Soooo much *hate* above for something that is made by one of the premier rising Stars of niche perfumery for a fashion house that got Givenchy and Guy LaRoche their starts not to mention clothing (and perfuming since the fifties!) the likes of Ava Gardner, Greta Garbo and Rita Hayworth (worth you looking these ladies up, my millennial friends, if you're not familiar with real Glamour) and yet no one can (or will) say exactly Why. I know for a fact the (now third iteration) newest of the Green Waters is stunning, from my small decant. A different Nose did Lilas Exquis, it's true, but every scent I've tried from this house has been great. Every fragrance from Maffei has been a delightful revelation, and until either I try it or read some respectable reviews I'm going to ignore the feedback on this for now... Suffice it to say this sounds like what I would imagine would be (osmagine) a nearly perfect soliflore. Hyacinth AND lilacs? Blueberries and angelica? Warm musky Oriental dry down? Um...yes, please!! My unicorn sense (my higher self's sort of third eye of scents) is shimmering; therefore, my guess is this will be a wish-i-woulda-knew-i-shoulda soon to be doomed Collection piece that will probably only appreciate in value. Instant favorite. I've been wearing lilac and hyacinth smells as long as I can remember. I'm a fan of natural renditions. This is as good as and as close as it gets to the real thing, without including too strong green notes, and thank god without leaning gourmand so it won't dry down too sweet on you. What's best about this perfume (which I eventually bought full 100ml) is that all of the listed flowers are equally detectable AND they stay that way throughout the wearing time. You can even 'boost' a certain flower by how far away your nose is or what you're wearing. Explanation - I sprayed on my arms, while I was naked I could smell mostly Lilacs, when I put my clothes on it was mostly Hyacinth. Pull my sleeve off - again with the lilacs. Nose to the skin - iris and Linden. Then I took a huge sweaty nap and woke up with flowers gone and this most amazing musk was radiating off of me like crazy. I've never ever smelled anything like this! That's like 6+ hours of most amazing flowers and many more hours of exquisite musk. You should really experience it, 2ml sprays are available from a ton of places.

Lilas exquis is one of the most floral fragrance I’ve ever tried. Well floral with a green touch and a gourmand green glaze. It has a sparkling opening with bergamot and blueberry. In the heart it has an accord of lilac and something called "violet cream", that, reading here and there on the web, seems to be an accord of violet, angelica and lily petals. On the bottom I mainly perceive musk, ambrette and the omnipresent ambroxan. All these elements consolidate the accord and make the long-lasting harmony of this perfume despite its nature. The general impression wearing this scent is of being wrapped in the branches of a lilac plant in bloom, with the leaves and the woody parts, and beyond that, also a vaguely gourmand scent, given by the cream of violet. The color of the liquid, then, transparent and slightly lilac, is strongly evocative of a romantic atmosphere.It recalls afternoons, when I was a teenager, spent writing letters on violet paper, already foreshadowing the expectation and hope of an answer, while the flowers color the air and time passes quietly. As a purple flower lover, Lilas Exquis was on my wish list for a long time. Finally I decided to blind buy. And I'm a little surprised with it. Despite being a green scent, it's not fresh or aquatic, actually it's quite dry. The opening is quite similar with Chanel No.19 EdT and No.19 Poudree, green but dry, chalky dry like an iris perfume. Lilas Exquis is actually Jacinthe Exquise to my nose, especially for initial phase, I can smell hyacinths very clearly, and this reminds me of my grandmother's tiny backyard where hyacinths bloomed in spring. Lilacs appear on mid phase, but they are not strongly pronounced as hyacinths. Dryness slowly disappears and the scent becomes more floral. Then it softens and becomes creamy in the end. If you are looking for a lilac dominant perfume, Lilas Exquise is not the answer. Aerin Lauder Lilac Path is. Am I disappointed? No, because I love hyacinths too and Lilas Exquis surprisingly feels like a more wearable flanker of Chanel No.19 for me. Lilacs? They are already in my backup bottle of Lilac Path.
