Jacques Zolty

It is in top 5 of my huge collection and one of the best modern fougeres i have ever smelled Opens with a slightly acidic lavender but it takes only a couple of moments to soften up. It is similar to my other favorites in character, HdP 1725 and MDCI Invasion Barbare, but the lavender here is so distinctive and the dance with a greatly natural smelling rosemary creates the twist from the aforementioned. I simply love this.

Stunning, Stunning, Stunning! For my generation (1970`s) THIS is how a perfect mens fragrance smells. It does the theme perfectly. The twist is that this utterly masculine, classy composition has a modern edge to it. It almost smell like you mixed Zino with Versus Uomo. The greem mossy aspect i the end is just the best drydown I have experienced in a long time! Bravo!!

Except that Sartorial came out 3 years after this fragrance @singabera I will say that I've smelt fragrances like this in the past, but it's done excellently

That's a very good, mature scent, deep lavender and woods. But it's almost a copy of much better perfume - Sartorial by Penhaligon's)

Best fragrance oat, make all the girls chase you.

Decent blind buy. Sharp acidic lavender bodied out by oakmoss and enlivened by geranium, slightly dusty. Bed of lime and bergamot nose to skin is more prominent with a nice oily lemon on top. Nice take on a traditional gentlemanly lavender British barbershop experience. Good quality though nothing extraordinary, requires 3 times my usual application so not a killer in performance and only 3-6 hours of fun. Comparable to Jovoy Conduit St and Bond No.9 Harrods exclusive.

Green recommended in Mon Credo. The opening isn’t ideal because it reminds me of something else, heavier and not green at all. The green is lurking in the background for now. The green is splattered into some red direction; you can smell a lot of spices that don’t necessarily come together into a coherent whole on my skin. It’s zesty but not concrete.

This flies so far under the radar within the fougere and barbershop world, I don't ever see it recommended. A shame, as this becomes a real winner after the borderline astringent opening. Opens initially kind of harsh and actually a little weird if I'm honest. Off the rip, the lavender used here is not your smooth Platinum Egoiste or Masculin Pluriel type; it roars astringent, pungent, and overpowering, and a bit unsettling in a "what dollar store perfume monstrosity have I got myself into" kind of way. There's also this odd accord nestled within the opening that I can only describe as "damp hay" or a musty barn-like scent; it's not necessarily a "bad" smell, but it's there and noticeable. But just when you think all hope is lost, the magic happens, the mustiness dissipates, things become more coherent, cleaner, and this quickly settles down on the skin into a glorious barbershop of three main accords: the full-bore lavender, a real chocolatey patchouli that is extremely reminiscent of Zino, and an intensely green, vibrant cypress with geranium and rosemary providing your classic barbershop aromatics humming away in the background for good measure. It comes off unapologetically manly and exactly what I want to smell like as a guy in my mid 30s. This smells more "British" to my nose, but I don't get Sartorial from it at all; that one is smoother and more elegant, with the honey and metallic, hot iron pressing on shirt smell really setting it apart from other barbershops I've tried. Also, the lavender used in this one is much rougher around the edges than in Sartorial. Sartorial is silver-spoon generational wealth, smells like Mayfair, Belgravia, Westminster; Jacques Zolty is also the scent of a wealthy man, but unlike the Mayfair city boys, he isn't afraid to get his oxfords dirty and get out and about in the great outdoors. This is sailing a prestige yacht off St. Barts, going diving off the deck with a spear gun and a submariner/seamaster strapped to the wrist. This smells "lived in". If I had to compare it to other fragrances, this lies somewhere between a theoretical modernized Zino and an older version of Beau De Jour (if that was a real thing), but thankfully without the modern-day sweet, super-amber dry down that permeates BDJ, which I really detest in that fragrance (there's still noticeable amber in this but its nowhere near to the same level as BDJ). Someone below summed up Jacques Zolty well when they said this is "better than any neo-fougere," and I strongly agree with that sentiment. I paid $60 USD for a 100ml bottle, and at that price, it's an absolute steal. Anything under $100 USD is a good deal for this imo. This is no Rive Gauche Pour Home (RIP), i.e., it's no masterpiece, but I would recommend this over Beau De Jour a million times over. 8.5/10

The fragrace would benefit from a better quality lavender, as the one in the opening is rather harsh and acidic. Definitely not the smoothest barbershop opening, not even close to the natural beauty of Histoires de Parfums Casanova or MDCI Invasion Barbare. Dunno, maybe it's my bottle. I bought it blind, so can't really compare it to other batches. When the unpleasant and off-smelling opening dissipates, what you're left with is really nice and handsome and sits perfectly between the aloofness of Sartorial and the earthy yet approachable patchouli of Zino/Heritage. Very old-school masculinity that manages not to smell out of place nowadays. It's a really pleasant wear that lasts and projects nicely, but doesn't scream for attention, which is perfect in my books. If only the opening wasn't something I have to struggle with, it would be pretty amazing. Anyways, better than any neo-fougere ;)

Now this one is quite MEAN... The blend is just full of masculinity and roughness! it resembles a guy who loves it rough and kinky. The kind of guy who always wears his leather chained harness underneath his formal wear and ready for it whenever he had the chance to. Olibanum raw on bed of lavander, & ambergris with cypress on the side and prints of artemisia with few fresh lime. If you want it intensive masculinity then this is for you. & no, i don't think it's copy of "Sartorial", maybe the vibe yes but not a copy.
