Jaguar Classic Amber

And here I am to recount a new experience with this perfume with amber undertones, which stands out from all the other Classic EAU DE TOILETTE flankers. The nose that created this perfume has already produced many other jewels for the same Jaguar brand, including the original Classic and the Classic Gold and Classic Black EAU DE TOILETTE flankers, but also historical fragrances such as Basala EAU DE TOILETTE, or the more recent Icon Racing (Red Edition). Classic Amber features amber accords, hot and cold spices, and slightly citrus, with a background of musky leathery reflections. It opens with just the right kind of tartness and headiness with a boozy twist, courtesy of a mix of citrus and spice notes. If you’ve ever been to Italy and asked for a non-alcoholic apéritif to drink with friends sitting at the bar, the Crodino has probably been suggested to you, also known as the Blond due to its colour that recalls the setting sun. The original recipe calls for herbs, spices and roots that are left to infuse for six months. The same citrus and spices are likely present in both, as the initial aroma is identical and to me, that’s incredible. In the beginning, the somewhat sweet notes of mandarin prevail, made bitter by grapefruit, with a citrus nuance of petitgrain. It’s so damn good, with pungent undertones of pink pepper underneath. Let it settle for a while and something resinous, balmy, a smidgen camphorous and waxy rises from the skin. I seem to catch Olibanum, but perhaps it is just the sticky elemi gum. At this point, the zestiness is gone leaving more room for the spices blend, courtesy of warm cinnamon bark and more peppercorn, this time black. The green apple is subdued and does not take the stage as in Classic Gold. The warm spices create a taste of old-fashioned Oriental charm. If you pay the right attention, you will catch a waxy smell akin to crayon--one of those scents that instantly takes you back to your childhood years. A crayon is a stick of pigmented wax used for writing or drawing. Wax crayons differ from pastels, where the pigment is mixed with a dry binder such as gum Arabic, and oil pastels, where the binder is a mixture of wax and oil. Finally, it shows a woody base character of cedar, vetiver, and patchouli. The more it grows, the more it gets dry. Well, don’t expect a dirty and earthy scent because it is not that way. A very mild leather accord from the cistus lingers underneath with musky and powdery facets from the white musk and vanilla. The dry-down is amber, yes, a tad woody, dry, not overtly sweet, just right. I think the patchouli leaves, mild leather and woody cedar are much more noticeable, toning down the fruity-amber primary notes. Classic Amber is suitable for any cool or cold season, except summer. Its amber and sweetish accords could become nauseating in the summer heat. For me, it is ideal to wear for special occasions, for parties, and for slightly formal lunches and dinners with family or friends. Even if the projection seems weak, the fragrance lasts long enough on the skin to warrant at least half a day. It does not lean towards the male territory. so it is equally great on a female figure. I blindly bought it, and I don’t regret it. It is a solid purchase for anyone looking to stand out without being obnoxious. Thanks, Dominique Preyssas for this present, I appreciated it. i am in love with this perfume..it can easily be used by both genders...its a light warm smokey musky woodsy amber...there is something about it which is so warm serene yet not so dark or deep that it can induce headaches..its a light fluffy amber ..there is something comfortable about it its serene ..calming..and very cozzy ..balsamic...warm spicy the sinamon makes it sing with delight ..aromatic and citrucy ..well blended ..intrensic ..yet siplme it reminds me of older men s and womens perfumes that were done simply with love and raw materials..it almost smells like mastic or louban which is a resin and has anti stress effects and anti depression..its been used for over 3000 years in elaviating psychsomatic aliements... i wish it was longer lasting though ..the intial sprays dont last the whole day i do need to keep re aplying..to get all those mesmerising whifs of antiquity... i feel this is what a man should smell like...and for women you can use this on cold winter nights layered with yur favourite oriental or vanial or amber ..

smells very nice the fragrantica notes are pretty much spot on with this one what i get from this , it smells like brown creaming soda and roasted vanilla .

this is a nice lil brother of Armani Acqua Di Gio Profumo, its a buy for this price tag.amazing spicy amber fragrance

Got this on sale for AUD$25 at Terry White Chemists in Australia (end of Aug, 2018) because I couldn't afford Armani Code Profumo -though wanted something similar and thought this Jaguar flanker may be a good substitute. For the price, I think it's excellent value for what you get. Although this is nothing like the quality of Armani Code Profumo, it has the same kind of wood and amber effect that I wanted. This may sit lighter on the skin, but I may layer it with one of my Oud fragrancesto darken the effect. BTW, the dry down of Armani Code Profumo is a beautiful woody note - much respect to that one.

This reminds me of roasted marshmallows in the opening and to me it's fantastic. When I first sprayed it a couple of times in the air it filled the whole room. When it dries down a slightly barber shop feel comes in with that roasted marshmallow smell and together it's a sweet masculine fragrance. For under 20 dollars this is a great choice. I think this is great for fall, I mean perfect for fall. It has a sweet classic amber touch. The Brown bottle fits this smell and season for this aroma perfectly. I give this an 83/100.

Doesn't smell like Obsession Night or Corduroy(owned both). This is close-ish to Narciso Rodriguez "normal" one in the grey. Had someone say it was good but also "kind of pukey." They're right. Something it IS nauseating. :( That resin stuff? I dunno...had it forever. This is better than the classic black(lame Lise Watier Neige copy) for sure, but not as youthful or sugary as the Jaguar's Red B-menesque flow

Opens up like the taste of Juicy Fruit gum, but the drydown is considerably drier - not dry mind you, it's still sweet, but the patch, leather and wood are much more noticeable, toning down the fruity-amber primary notes. Sillage seems a bit weak, but this really works as an informal scent for me. Spring/fall t-shirt scent for casual or home use - pretty good for an inexpensive mood-booster.

Very bright opening and warm dry-down that reminds me of an old leather suitcase that has been polished with synthetic floral and somewhat soapy polish. Very vibrant, fresh, lively, and noticeable with good sillage and projection maybe 21⁄2hrs before fading into a subtle intimate nuances of floral activity. Perennial, anywear but maybe too loud for summer and nighttime use.

A warm, sweet, woody, fruity and spicy fragrance. The apple is noticeable straight away and is very sweet with a lovely silage. The dry down turns more spicy but stays pleasant and sweet. Longevity and silage are quite good. It is similar to Corduroy - but this is much nicer. A very nice winter scent in a nicely designed bottle - I like it.

Just let this develop on your skin for 10 minutes. Then breathe it in with your eyes closed. There is more to this very nice fragrance than you think at first. Amberry, woody, fruity, dry and lovely.

******************************** Smell like Thallium Black ******************************** Jaguar amber is a cheaper & lighter version of Thallium Black. Both give off the same Mature DRY smell more suitable for an older adults in late 50/60s. Jaguar Amber is very cheap for the price. I think it makes a great Gift for older men in your life. It doesn't perform as good as Thallium Black, but it is also $5~$7 cheaper. You get what you paid for. PS. I was surprised because I only did 3 spray on my bare skin, then wear a shirt + a sweater over it. I didn't think anyone can smell me, but people can. I think this is one of those fragrance that smell better TO OTHER PEOPLE than it is to me.

I recently smelled this fragrance in a perfume shop. Its beginning is heavy, but character is weak with subtle silage and projection. Top notes are woody but fails to display their full quality. Mid and base notes are spicy gives a feeling of old skool scent and an outdated aftershave. Unable to feel any amber and apple notes in it. Disappointing fragrance! The only good thing is the packaging which is attractive. Price is reasonable. Longevity is average but lacks projection. I give it 6.2 out of 10.

I did not like this one at all. I was expecting a nice warm, sweet, sexy amber. I do not get any of those things. To my nose, this smells like an old school Fougere from the 1960s. I was very surprised that this came out in 2011. It definitely has "Old Man Smell" to me.

Too much pepper and less amber to my taste. Longevity and projection are medium low Anyway is a nice peppery scent to use all round year

This is really weird. I expected a sweet vanilla-amber scent, instead it's something extremely salty. Maybe coriander or cumin...or an oversimplifies saffron-like note... none of the notes are actually present. Smells really cheap, definitely doesn't worth the money

This is unique but does smell a little bit like a bunch of other fragranes: Jaipur Homme, Dior Homme, Sultane Gold, Corduroy, Obsession Night Men, etc. From the last two it has a bit of that watery quality I get from some CK scents (though in Corduroy it goes too far into the sticky blob quality for me). I don't see much of a connection to Thallium Black, but that may be because the white must that is used in that one overwhelms my olfactory senses. I guess that for a few people the watery texture along with the "lipstick" quality creates a clash, with at least one person calling it puke-like. In any case, this is a little spicy, along with a soft sweetness. Don't expect strong leather, cedar, or patchouli. After half an hour or so, I do get a light leather and I think it's a better scent now, definitely not complex or especially dynamic, but pleasant. Also, I don't get lavender here so if you are trying to avoid fougere type scents and don't want to pay much for a "masculine" oriental, this is certainly worth considering. UPDATE: After at least an hour I do get the comparison to the original Narciso Rodriquez scent marketed to men. I don't think they smell all that similar, but they have similar texture. CA retains the oriental quality, whereas the NR never had it to begin with. UPDATE #2: After several hours of wearing it, I was thinking that this seems like an experimental fragrance, as if a perfumer was trying to do something clearly different, but had to stay within a tight budget. That's not to say it smells "cheap," but it doesn't smell expensive either. The composition is quite odd, and while it is generally pleasant, I'd likely prefer to wear fragrances of this type (spicy/vanillic or ambery) that are less experimental. Still, I look forward to wearing it again because my perceptions sometimes change quite a bit the second time around.

I bought both this and Amber Red at Ross for a pretty reasonable price. Of the two, I like this one the best mainly due to the fact that it falls into the moderate range of longevity and projection whereas Red smells great but is very weak and does not last long. The opening seems heavy of alcohol but that dies down rather quickly and I am left with a nice sweet amber with a bit of spiciness (perhaps the cinnamon). After about 15 minutes the woods and earthiness starts to kick in. The most intriguing part of this is the vetiver. It is blended perfectly with the sweet amber giving it a dirty twist which I have not experienced before. I really dig the smokey amber ambiance that stays throughout the drydown all the way the skin scent stage. I get an average four hours out of this and I am not in any way disappointed with my purchase, especially at the price.

Woody, spicy & somewhat fresh scent. Like an aftershave. It's okay... But not cloying. Would buy this for an again for my dad & or an elder male...not really for me. Probably my worst smelling frag in my collection. Smells like a synthetic blob of pepper and woods-ish notes. At times it smells like glue. I dont care for this on paper or my skin. For those giving it positive reviews, must be reacting great to your skin chemistry. I would not use sweet to describe this frag. Luckily it cost me $10 100ml bc this will go in the drawer for much later use. On a side note, the atomizer is fantastic. Big burst of mist.

Warm and extremely sweet, Classic Amber can be garish if over applied. I have to use this sparingly as sweet fragrances like this react well with me and project and last well. Winter time scent for sure. Reminds me a little of CK Obsession Night but is more subtle. As with all Jaguar fragrances the presentation and bottle look great, good value in my opinion.

The purfume is not much good but it lacks in projection and longitivty. At first spray...it found very strong but in some minutes all fade off and you need to dig your nose deep to smell the real fragrance. I feel it a loss of money to buy, although it is very new in 2012 but not impressive at all.

Worst fragrance in my collection. Cheap amber smell. Gives me a headache and it smells like something you bought for 3$ by a brand that is completely unknown at some very shady drugstore. I've smelled Axe perfumes who have better quality, thought formula and idea behind the creation.

Another blind buy for me and I don't regret it but I'm sad it didn't work out. I really wanted to like this. At first spray, I fell in love. After a while my head didn't feel the same way. I get horrible headaches with this fragrance because it's so sweet! Such a shame.

I've been pretty pleased with my Jaguar fragrances to date - Classic Black, Classic Motion, Performance, Vision II so I was really disappointed when I smelled this. Expecting a warm, sweet, spicy scent, but instead it just smells .... weird, and cheap.

I love the perfume it smells amazing after the dry down but the problem is with the longevity as it doesn’t last long at all
