Agarwoud

I have to start off by saying that I'm completely in in love with this perfume. It's starts off with a beautiful juicy, and tart rose with an underlying base of slightly animalistic oud. The Incense joins soon after and gives it a little bit of a smokiness. The projection on this is perfect. I can't imagine this being a monster projecting perfume. I think it would lose some refinement at that point. Longevity is above average for me. It projects nicely for about 5 hours, then gets a little closer to your skin. Continues in that fashion for another few hours. Then becomes a skin scent. Presentation is also beautiful. Comes in a nice black slide out box. Inside is a molded cushion. The perfume bottle is nice heavy glass reminiscent of the Frederic Malle bottles. The cap is very heavy. Worth every penny. I only wish they made a bigger 100ML bottle! Bravo Heeley!

I find this to be one of the best oud / rose combinations. Unlike many oud scents, this one doesn't smell like a barnyard, thanks to the lack of the leather note along side of the Oud. This seems to be a sport flanker of those deeper oud fragrances. It's a champagne-like oud / rose. Bubbly and light. An oud for the summertime. Inoffensive and clean. One of the best oud fragran... No, one of the best fragrances I have smelled. They want a lot for this, but I will give it to them gladly.

Glorious rose and oud. Absolutely ravishing. I adore it. The rose is so rich and smooth, and the oud so soft and smoky.....with beautiful incense and amber adding to the warmth and richness. I really love it. It lasts so well, and I always get compliments, from far and wide! And close! It's a dream.

Beautiful. Love this. Well blended unisex rose perfume. Simple, but magical. Performance is decent, but understated. Very pleasant. Wouldn’t come here if you’re looking for oud tho. Unless you’re into the Tom Ford type oud- meaning none at all.

I love this! My experience is of a luminous rose and incense fragrance carried on a gentle breeze of oud. It lasted overnight, eventually becoming a warm skin scent. I will save up for it.

What I get from Heely's Agarwoud is a simple and linear rose and oud mix. It's nice enough but is fairly common for an oud scent. In terms of sillage it's just right, not too strong, not too weak. And the longevity is really good. This reminds me a little bit of Kanon's Agarwood (at least the initial smell of it), but I've only used both a couple of times, so that is just based off of my initial impressions. I'm not sure how I feel about the commonality of the fragrance versus the price, and I haven't sampled Agarwoud enough to say for sure, but I doubt this is something I'd buy in terms of a full bottle. I'm guessing you can get similar scents at a more reasonable price.

To my nose, the Heeley Agarwoud reminds me of Tom Ford Cafe Rose or maybe I should say vice-versa since the Heeley fragrance launched in 2011 and the TF in 2012. They have notes of rose, incense, and amber in common. The incense in Agarwoud nicely amplifies the rose, and the Oud is very “clean” (Oud beginner friendly). To me, the Heeley is the sweeter fragrance of the two. The TF is sexier and more complex—containing patchouli, coffee, pepper, and saffron rather than Oud which deepen and darken the fragrance. I like the Heeley Agarwoud but it’s not earth shattering in terms of rose/Oud combos.

A floral aquatic fragrance with a hint of oud. This in no way a pure oud fragrance. The main smell is an aquatic sweet floral smell that's middle easternized by very little oud. The smell leans more toward being feminine. I don't know who voted but it doesn't smell like Gucci Oud. If you don't like oud, don't brush it off as the oud is barely noticeable & it doesn't smell like an oud fragrance. That being said, if you are in the market for a mainly-oud fragrance, Agarwoud is not the one you're looking for. Do NOT blind buy this. A try before you buy for sure.

Enveloping velvety / "leathery" kind of oud, a bit of the incense smoke and a leafy sweet rose heart; all distilled into a crisp (just a bit acidic) EdP (so James Heeley). Does not smell like any other rose-oud EdPs out there, not loud, fresh not stiff, sits just within the limits of "effortlessness", lasts long; rock it through out the year, with a t-shirt or a suit - it never failed me.

Nice accord of rose-oud very natural never syntetic never soapy. A conteporary vision of gothic era or a man with smoking and many tattoo for evening very pleasant oud coming out without being aggressive a tamed fragrance for man and woman in full style Heeley. I can't understand why Heeley has so many detractors maybe 'couse his perfumes aren't arrogant like other around.

Soapy fresh rose , that is kept on the unisex line (possibly a bit feminine) by some subtle creamy oud (and cypriol?) in the background. Dandyman desrcibed it well, so I'm not going to reinvent the wheel. Overall a very nice rose-centric fragrance, kind of a more refined take on AC Emeraude Agar. Performance is good on my skin. If you, like me, find intense, loud Oud/rose combo to be too mich, this is worth a try. It’s very smooth, cozy, and not at all overpowering or too “oudy”. It reminds me a little of Winter Palace by Memo, but I prefer Winter palace. Performance is average.

This rose oud combo really reminds me of something from my childhood. Like cheap adolescent cosmetics on a little girl's dresser in her bedroom. Cant really shake that association, maybe because of the sweetness from the rose. Although, everything turns ultra sweet on my skin. I smell the oud and it's nice., and while i cant say i hate this one, its just too sweet for me. currently in spring and i may have to revisit my sample in the colder months. I'm sure a man with the right chemistry could pull this off if he is a fan of soapy rose.

Yawn, another rose-aoud combination scent! But wait... it getting worse! It's more "gasoline-smelling" than average poorly made rose-aoud perfumes are. It should be called Rose Of The Gas Station. Originality 1/10 Scent 3/10 (as for women scent, 1/10 as men scent) Longevity 5/10 Projection 6/10 Sillage 5/10 Price for what you get 1/10 There are dozens of attars and inexpensive arabic perfumes out there that smell the same, or much better, for 1/10 if not 1/20 price of this. And many of them with same or better performance.

A well behaved rose - aoud combo seen million times before. The rose here is a bit too soapy and too fresh for my likening, but this might be a good choice for those who usually do not enjoy heavy rose - aoud combos. I am actually disappointed. There is no incense, just the soapy rose with well behaved aoud, reminds me a bit of expensive soap with an edge from the aoud. Give this a try if you must and have the chance, not worth the hunt for a sample.

This is such a weird scent. I didn't get the rose and oud at all...This smells so chemical and industrial to me. I was thought this is going to be a classic rose and oud scent like Velvet Rose & Oud by Jo Malone, but this weirdly reminds me of the opening of Secretions Magnifiques. I can't stand this at all.

Not my favourite Heeley. There is something rather sour and synthetic abut the rose accord that spoils the impact of this fragrance for me. It's a big blowsy rose, slightly past its best. I could imagine it would appeal to people who enjoy lots of lippy and bling. No thank you.

Generic and uninspiring. It’s the typical barnyard oud and rose DNA, but it feels flat and lacks a unique signature. There are so many better oud-rose fragrances out there that actually deserve attention; this simply isn't one of them. Not for me.

Rose and oud. When it dries, it's very dry. No thanks.

the demure cousin of secretions magnifiques

This is my second edit of my review. I think I finally understood the idea behind this masterpiece. Correct me please, Mr. Heeley, if needed. What I wrote at first: This rose and amber combination in this fragrance is absolutely stunning. Woah. The oud is a little too much for me initially, but interestingly enough, it has evaporated at 70% - I can now only smell light whiffs of oud (and only after 15 minutes!) I will come back to discuss longevity. My first edit was in regards to the longevity that is a little disappointing. The fragrance becomes a faint skin scent after ~3 hours. What I would like to say now, after wearing my sample and thinking about it, is that this fragrance is not meant for the traditional oriental, strong oud fragrance lovers. I interpret this fragrance as an initiation into the world of animalic oriental scents. As someone who normally cannot wear oud, this is a masterpiece. The sales associate who actually suggested this fragrance to me wanted to challenge me, seeing as I said I couldn't wear oud. However, she was correct: the oud is so elegant and well blended that it is in no way offensive. It is much brighter than other ouds I have smelled that it appears synthetic at first sniff. All throughout the experience, the oud note melts into a clean rose and a sparkly saffron note. (I know there is not saffron listed.) The incense and the amber are subtle and their role is to give a little bit of depth to the fragrance. All of the notes are waltzing together -- the oud is not meant to be the star of the fragrance, rather one of the pillars. The more I keep on wearing this fragrance, the more I'm thinking it is full bottle worthy. I'm strongly considering purchasing it for the cold weather months coming up. As mentioned previously, unfortunately, the longevity isn't impressive. I am wearing a spray of the fragrance on my wrist (that I applied 15 minutes ago). It was splashed with water and the sillage has already become weaker.

When I first saw this new line by Heeley I really got excited to see he finally decided to introduce in the market three new fragrances in extrait de parfums diluition. I've always been a "fan" of many of his previous fragrances such as Cuir Pleine Fleur, Sel Marin and Iris De Nuit but longevity has always been an issue, so seeing these extraits made me think about something even more satysfying. Last but not least, my curiosity to smell Heeley's take on oud was definitely genuine. This is to say that I was really well disposed towards this new launches and I was sure to smell something brilliant, original and unique. I got the three samples together with an informative brochure and I decided to start with Agarwoud (Agarwoud?? I had to double check it wasn't a typo). Looking at the inspirational words I see "Siddartha", "Extrait De Devotion", "Control", "Poverty"...I started getting suspicios. Ok, let's smell it... Yet another iteration of the rose/oud combo? Really??? Ok, calm down. Rumours wants that this composition has been on the making for more than four years, so at the time we weren't yet overwhelmed by the oud overkill and James Heeley was probably not aware of the huge amount of oud compositions that in a few years would have over crowded the market. Agarwoud smells like the basic structure of many western oud-centered compositions. It's not as boombastic and dark as Black Aoud and the rose note is definitely more restrained. It's not refined and opulent as Epic Woman. It doesn't have the gourmandic twist of Red Aoud...it's just oud and rose laying on an ambery base. Minimalistic (as many of the Heeley's previous compositions), moderately powerful (considering is an extrait), honestly crafted but not particularly interesting. Overall Agarwoud smells fine but it arrived on the market a bit too late. As a friend used to say: "What's... Agarwoud? It wood if it could." Rating: 6.5/10

Woah! This is heavy as hell and I should of expected it from Heeley. I often write witty concise reviews in my head which are full of interesting new words instead of the same old cliches I spout so frequently. Then when I come to write the review...Gone! Oh well The insanely sweet, Turkish delight rose in this creation provoked a completely different reaction the first time I tried it. I got an oud note in the very first sniff then detected a super sweet rose which just gets more and more pronounced, to which I thought this is going to be a Montale like effort and I'm going to hate it. Somehow it crossed over and got so intensely rosy and concentrated that it went all the way back around from awful to exquisite. It's very much like the Bubblegum chic in that it's so pungent it smells as far from natural or even floral as you can get and become a atomic chemical monstrosity, like some sort of food additive concentrate that's meant to be diluted at 1ppm. The result was weirdly enough I liked it for being so bonkers and FULL ON! My second trial came today and upon application I got a similar effect except this time I got the usual powder of expensive high end rose/oud's... a sickening urinal cake vibe, complete with urine! Maybe my skin was different today? I've really no idea? So I can't really decide what's going on? One thing is for sure Agarwoud is a nuts and has to be tried by rose lovers.

تمام داستان آگاروود در فضایی ملایم، اما تاریک و فلزی سپری میشه که لمسی از قطرات باران شبانگاهی و عطر گل ها در این فضای خاص و مرموز هم جریان داره. درسته که این عطر هیلی عود سینتیک با چهره ای چوبی- دودی و انیمالیک رو ابزار کار خودش کرده؛ اما نتیجه ی نهایی اثری از خفگی، ابهام، سرگیجه و مواد شیمیایی در خود نداره. عطر با یک تم تاریک دودی، نم زده و پوسیده و حالتی تلخ و انیمالیک که رگه هایی گیاهی داره شروع میشه و فضای اصلی خودش رو در همین فضا به جریان میندازه و تا پایان بخوبی حفظش میکنه. عود تاریک و دودی و نافذ هیلی؛ حالتی چوبی داره که حضور صمغ ها و شاید پچولی؛ حالتی نم خورده و عمیق بهش داده که همین تاریکی مرموز و مکاشفه وار، نقش اصلی ماجراست. با محو شدن تم دودی؛ رز با حالتی فلزی که تازه و کمی هم پودری هست و اثری از اون بوی رسوا و بد سابقه رو نداره؛ به حاشیه ی کار اضافه میشه و در همون حاشیه هم باقی می مونه تا عود جیمز هیلی در فضای تاریکِ گیاهی و خاصی که امضای هیلی هست، نمایشی عمیق، تأمل بر انگیز و فلزی اما ملایم و شیک داشته باشه. درسته این عطر فضایی نسبتا آشنا داره؛ اما کیفیت اون بسیار بالاتر از عطر هایی هست که عود سینتیک خفه کنندشون بشدت آزار دهندست. این عطر فضایی ملایم و شاعرانه داره و با بالانس خوب آکورد هایی که نخ نما به نظر میرسن حس یه پرسه ی شبانه ی آرام و ناب رو بدست میده که در کوچه باغ خلوت اردیبهشت ماه رقم میخوره. به طرز عجیبی انگیزاننده و جذاب هست این عطر! پخش شخصی و متوسطی داره که حدود 7 ساعت هم روی پوست حضور خواهد داشت... کامنت: م.ع (سایت لوکس بایر (با امکان تست سمپل

The sillage is way too good that it almost is annoying. You leave behind an enormous scent cloud of rose if you apply it more than three sprays. This is way too feminine for my taste. There's too much rose for that and the combination of oud and rose in this is not good. The oud is there only to make this more manly and it's not succeeding. It makes the fragrance smell a little bit like rubber. I see many people say it smells like gasoline but to me it's more like burning tire!

so many comment on the 'gasoline' note that aromachemical oud produces, and NOW i totally get it. this is big, ripe and juicy rose with the 'gasoline' note. in my mind i refer to it as 'spritely', but it is quite 'high'. all of this, along with the frankincense, makes it quite the mix. the frankincense is a little too strong for my liking, and probably prohibiting me from getting a sample of this. a bit of a frankincense overload for mine...

I remember this kind of smell it cost around $20 for 50ml, that in Saudi and usually we name it a blend of something also it has been copied many times in middle east. I will look for more original cheap alternative and post it in near future. Anyway, the smell is nice I'm very familiar with it, its not around oud but mainly synthetic incense, rose and amber. I believe there is synthetic oud here maybe just a hint of it. I will give it 6/10

Reminds me very much of Stella by Stella McCartney, just a deeper, richer, I would say better made version. Stella for grown-ups. Rose and oud and honey and amber. Good longevity and I didn't find the sillage overwhelming, but I am quite conservative when it comes to perfume application, because I live in a part of the world where people just don't wear much scent, and I don't want to frighten the natives.

For four years in the making Agarwoud is unfortunately ... um ... rather uninspired and uninspiring. So I'd say for fans of rose flavoured ouds only. (But even then, there are already so many such that far surpass it. So all in all a touch redundant unfortunately. So I'd change that to, for die-hard Heeley fan-heads only rather.)

This was a complex fragrance on me with 3 sprays damp fresh oud that reminds me of l’artisan Oudh which becomes leathery with notes of wine, chocolate, earthy wet soil, booze, potpourri, patchouli, acetone, & musty wood after 4-5 hours it has a really delicious sexy musk scent Somewhere between a like and a love

Poca rosa, pochissima ambra, un oud ruvido e secco. Un bel profumo maschile, austero, serio, elegante. Nullamente for women a mio parere, differentemente da Black Oud Montale (al quale è stato comparato...) stupendo e femminile...

Easy to wear and in a sense share. As mentioned, not unlike many similar styled fragrances on the market. However, it's subtleness I dare say might be just the thing that is perfect for you. Don't dismiss it. Try it first.

Rose/Oud perfumes are plentiful and most smell the same. Heeley's Agarwoud is distinct. There is a rich smokiness that elevates the rose and softens the oud making the overall experience of wearing it warm and sensuous.

There are thousands of Rose-Oud combo and this is another one. This one is more refined than most in the market and the floral rosy aspect is more dominant than the oud note. 7/10
