L'Amandiere

I picked up L'Amandière a long time ago in my pursuit of a cosy almond-forward gourmand, and remember being disappointed with this floral with a side of bitter almond. The name can be translated as "almond tree", which is quite fitting on reflection, but felt misleading that day. I recently received a sample of this with a selection of other James Heeleys, and so got a chance to revisit it. I am glad I did - it is a beautiful, unusual floral scent that makes great use of its almond note. In keeping with the style of the house, it is made with high-quality, realistic-smelling ingredients. L'Amandière is a delicate floral scent that evokes hazy spring sunshine. Honeyed florals, dewy greenness and a soft, powdery texture achieve this springtime effect. The almond note that features alongside the florals is raw and nutty rather than the marzipan-esque quality I was seeking out before. It is slightly challenging initially, but is ultimately a deeply pleasant and satisfying scent. L'Amandière opens with a waxy hyacinth note, bold and heady - a flower I very much associate with childhood. The bitter almond follows, forming a slightly dissonant accord with the hyacinth. However, it is intriguing, and this scent becomes wonderfully harmonious as it develops. The sweet yellow florals follow, hazy and shimmering, forming the crux of this scent. The soft citrus nuances of the linden blossom - more sweet than fresh - becomes prominent as the hyacinth fades a little. I get powdery mimosa, but this could be due to the combination of linden blossom with the powdery texture of the subtle violet that follows. There is a dewy green undertone from initial spray, adding sap-like freshness to the florals. The almond appears creamy in the later stages, giving the effect of a fancy bar of soap. The florals linger, becoming increasingly powdery as it dries down, with the nectar-like sweetness lingering. The green undertone also remains throughout, adding a lush grassy quality in the later stages. Sillage and longevity are moderate. It is a feminine warm weather scent, best worn on spring days. Bright yet gentle, lightweight yet lush, this springtime bouquet is quite a unique composition. It is beautifully balanced, once the opening settles on my skin. An almond scent that is refreshing in every sense of the word. 4.5/5.

Mount Auburn Cemetery is one of my favorite places to visit. Not only is this burial site a National Historic Landmark where such luminary figures as Wadsworth Longfellow, Oliver Wendell Holmes, and Dorothea Dix were buried, but it's also a botanical garden, with its winding paths teeming with remarkable botanical specimens. I visited last weekend, perusing the many spring flora on the grounds, and I came across what seemed to be hybrids of the Spanish Bluebell (Hyacinthoides hispanica). Indeed, it is not the fabled Common Bluebell (Hyacinthoides non-scripta) that carpets the primeval forests of England, but these were scented, which leads me to believe they are hybridized, and their smell was quite similar. The opening of L'Amandiere immediately reminds me of them: a scent that, while milder than that of Hyacinthus orientalis, is similar. Yet it has its own complexity, leafy green yet with this nutty bitter almond facet. As it further develops, I recall all tree blossoms that grow from mid-spring through early summer: Silverbells (Halesia), Princess Trees (Royal paulownia), American Yellowwood (Cladrastis kentukea), all of which give off heliotrope/mimosa like fragrances to my nose. There is also the linden blossom here, one of my all-time favorites, which could account for why some pick up a "soapiness" as many fine soaps are scented with linden. Likewise, textures appear that recall various, sticky pollens, milky exudates and bittersweet guttation from foliage: crushing leaves and stems, freshly pruned and mowed vegetation, a manicured garden. It feels almost like olfactory pointillism, beautifully punctuated with fine aromatic granularity, a Seurat spring landscape, the flickering detail of flowers and trees, daydream-like (I imagine a Seurat interpretation of my beloved Mount Auburn). It's worth noting that L'Amandiere smells splendid under the heat of the sun.

Second James Heeley perfume I try, second time I am transported to Cyprus, second time I fall head over heels in love. Oh you know now I am going to have to try more of this mans perfumes because the 2 I have tried (iris de nuit and this) are just beautiful. L'Amandiere transports me once again to the mountains of Cyprus, the lower Troodos/upper Lemesos area. Standing in the garden behind the house where an almond tree spills its bounty onto the dry grass, rich, fresh, creamy almonds, heady green and floral notes, oh, you know I don't even want to try and analyse it too much! I simply find this beautiful. So smooth, heady, lush, intoxicating... These are green almonds, not roasted or ground or sugared or baked or cooked or dried..no these are fresh from the tree, creamy and milky and good. The fragrance itself is very powerful I found, huge room filling stuff, but not in a bad way at all, but it moves and swirls around and slowly fills the space with this luscious aroma. It lasts well, which it should, as an extrait. I wonder if this would layer with iris de nuit to give me the ultimate Cyprus experience? Hell, I guess even buying both bottles is cheaper than the flights alone, right?! I love it.

L’Amandiere is a love/hate for me. I love the purple florals mixed with fresh green leaves on a bed of dry, bitter almonds. L’Amandiere doesn’t become soapy, it stays true to nature. It’s perfect for spring and early summer when lilacs bloom, days get longer and leafs are unfolding. It’s so natural, boheme. Projection and longevity is also great for the price. But.. ohh the but.. I’ve never had any succes with linden blossom, something about it smells way too natural. It has a dirty sweetness that reminds me pollen, hay and stables in the summer. It’s only noticeable when smelled up close, but in any fragrance with linden blossom I find this rancid sweetness. Somehow it suits the scent profile of L’Amandiere, adding some kind of down-to-earth type of charm. After a few hours the green notes subdue aswell as the linden blossom, the drydown is pure hyacinth and violets. This fragrance is unique and definitely worth a try. Not a safe blind buy though.

ALMOND SPRING DELIRIUM I LOVE IT. It caught me in surprise, I feared something in the direction of the almond fragrance of Aqua die Parma. Fortunately it is not. It is very well balanced, with a very definite almond note. On paper I can smell the other notes, an my skin it becomes a lovely mixture I can't distinguish anymore. Sweet in a very floral way. Reminds me of a Almondtree Field in Italy I have been to. It is extremely powerful, though. That's what makes me think of a delirium, it is the nicest possible suffocation. (And it already safed me in a situation where I had to sit some time next to someone not using deodorant. Some Amandiere and I couldn't smell anything else anymore). I like it a lot, but could easily be too much for many others.

This is a lovely linden blossom and almond fragrance. The almond was intense on the opening and for a minute made me think of cyanide but it quickly settled!! Yes, it is a true bright almond essence note and not a sugared almond. So fresh and uplifting. I think James achieved what he was after. It's Spring in a bottle. Someone has broken off a branch of a blooming almond tree. You get the branches, new leaves and sweet fragrance of the blossom. Fresh but not harsh and with just enough sweetness from the rose. I was wondering what to expect when I saw hyacinth listed. You can make it out but it is used with light hand. Moderate silage and longevity.

the lady in the shop sprayed this perfume on a paper and the scent lasted for a week. I bought it and the smell is amazing , a clean flowery perfume that gives you the vibe that you just came out of the shower. The most intence top note is bitter almond , violet and lime. Soon after the almond smell goes away but a nice musky violet stays on my skin for hours. the crazy thing is it lasts more on my skin rather on clother. I love it on a spring day and i cant wait to test this also in the summer! this is a perfume i bought for 100ml / 145euros so i think for the longevity and the qualith it is a great deal.

Reviewing the Eau de Parfum version. The opening impression is green tree pollen, lightly musky but packing an aromatic punch. Like an orchard of trees sending out clouds of nose-tickling pollen on the first hot day of spring. It's almost fruity. like green banana or plantain, dominated by a lovely linden blossom note, somewhere between ylang ylang and violet leaf, with a light, soapy hyacinth. A unique, soft, unusual green. Faint jasmine in support. 6 hours later I'm still enjoying it as an unsweetened green almond skin scent. Drying closer to the smell of freshly mown grass.

I love this, even though I'm not a fan of almondy marzipan tastes. I like to layer it with Cuir Pleine Fleur, but my killer maths skills tell me this will end badly, given the relative quantities and ruinous price. I'm also beginning to wonder if L'Amondiere is at risk? The 50ml bottle has been unavailable from Heeley's own site for months and the description says he created it for his girlfriend. Not a bad omen, but a scary one. I really didn't want to follow another fragrance over the edge of the cliff.

this is another gorgeous piece of art that I'm pretty sure will be discontinued any sec. l'amandiere is a wistful bucolic vision of springtime. so delicate, so ethereal and breathtaking. it smells like love, respect and longing for nature. like all scents focusing on almond blossoms and linden it is fleeting. but like angels wings it is so perfect i had to have it nevertheless. this is one of the few fragrances i own that is purely evocative and emotional. i FEEL this scent. i cherish l'amandiere.

During a heatwave, I went to the store to try Menthe Fraîche, and walked out with a sample of L'Amandière instead. It's advertised as a portrait of spring—but let me propose it as a summer chiller. Wearing it is as refreshing and luxurious as eating peeled green grapes and slathering on cool, almond lotion. Like a green almond, it's watery, jellied, with a hint of bitterness, and a tender fuzz. Very spa. The only drawback is it doesn't perform like an extrait. I'm in love, but...

Spring in a bottle This fragrance is a lovely and gorgeous unisex perfume. It is described as "a portrait of spring" on Heeley's website and it's the best description for that. It starts with minty, fresh top notes and then the dance of floral notes on a bitter creamy-woody almond note. This fragrance has the positive energy of walking in a beautiful garden or an orchard during springtime. Very nice, and very uplifting. Instant love for me. 9/10

This is absolute LOVE!!!!!! Plenty of lindens, violets and almonds- one of the best scents outthere! Beautiful scent for sunny days:) Blooming spring flowers and summer in heart. I heard once that we choose fragrances that remind us of our childhood. Well, this is the scent of my childhood back in Europe where linden trees and violets were and still are plentiful. Very likely why I find it appealing. Now gotta go get it asap! :)

Oh my god. This is the first perfume I have ever worn that I instantly wanted a full bottle. This is spring. Pure and simple. Gorgeous green sunny flowers with the nutty undercurrent of almond. Glorious. An absolute masterpiece. I see newborn lambs playing in a field. I see flowers blooming. Trees blossoming. I am in love. Thank you Mr Heeley for this masterpiece.

An extraordinarily beautiful composition.Ethereal,transparent aquatic flower bouquet. It is a light, airy spring in a bottle. Exquisite hyacinth, the most delicate violet, and bluebell. I do detect almond or maybe a cherry pit rather underneath of softest blossoms.It has great longevity and a lovely sillage. I own a bottle. Simply delightful.

Back in stock at Heeley. This stuff is going to ruin me. While they were restocking, I looked around for other almondy scents and nothing came close - they all lacked the fresh, bright wow factor of the Heeley. I'll wear it in any season. I don't really know or care whether it's original. It's lovely and it's in my bag forever.

L'Amandiere is my favourite among the Heeley Extraits. It opens with fresh flowers and green leaves, very green and clean. The scent is very natural and sheer; smells like spring and youth, simply beautiful. The powdery almond gets more apparent at the later stage. Projection is moderate, good longevity.

Heeley Paris - L'Amandière Extrait de Parfum Almond trees heavy with blossoms and a few of its unripe fruits. Very far from most almond based perfumes I've encountered, no sweet marzipan notes here. Linden and grassy notes round up this tender floral bouquet. A beautiful spring day bottled.

Almond surprise! Didn't go the way I expected AT ALL. Was exploring for a natural, greenish, non-marzipan take on almond, which this is, but only after a wild ride full of hairpin bends. Really difficult, almost hostile opening - a great burst of something almost plasticky-playdoh-aldehydey to my nose which was weird and not that welcome. (Linden blossom collision maybe? it's a note I always struggle with.) For the first few minutes I thought "yuck, well, fine, I can just rule it out." Yet 10 minutes later it had mellowed out completely and softened into a really subtle, almost botanical, creamy-woody light-green scent with just the hint of almondy, blossomy sweetness floating over the top. Yeah, hyacinth is in there, but don't be too afraid of it, to me it seems to be mostly echoing and stretching the almond accord, rather than shouting its own name out loud. Definitely the smell of real, outdoor almond trees, not of a sickly almond dessert. Sorry for the pun but: in my experience the perfect almond scent is a tough nut for perfumers to crack. Even pure natural almond (or bitter almond, or almond blossom) essences can hover on the edge of being unpleasant, or too-strong, or cloying, or reminding you too much of body creams - and most almond scents on me end up failing. This one doesn't fail - it's really really good - but it's still not all the way to 'true love, must have now'. But if you are looking for The One Almond Scent for you, and you're nuts for this nut, you must try it. Could be truly unisex and is definitely niche enough to banish any associations with gourmand-sugary almond scents of the past. Performance isn't great on me, though, it really shrinks within a couple of hours, and it's expensive stuff.

Let me note first: I have a thing for almonds. L'Instant Magic is one of my most precious possessions, I have a nice one of L'Erbolario and I keep on loving the sweet woody vanilla combination of Fiore di Dragone, Hypnotic Poison and Confetto. Now - l'Amandière has walked a different path than the previous mentioned. L'Amandière has almonds complementing the florals and the florals complementing each other, making it into this rather specific "smell". The smell I'd link to almond-soaps your aunt used to bring for you from the Provence. At first I wasn't particularly moved, even if the receiving almond soaps makes me very happy... But L'Amandière has very much grown on me. I like the "wateriness", the innocence, the lightness. It even considered as another type of almond to add to my collection.

An impressionist image of the herald of summer. L’Amandière is a field of flowers against a backdrop of almond trees. Linden trees are in bloom when I’m celebrating my birthday, so the scent of their blossoms is extra special to me. I usually gravitate to dry, woody scents but sometimes I crave a light floral. This itches that scratch for me. Linden can get quite sticky in fragrances but here, it leaves room to harmonize with other components. The combination of almond and light florals gives an almost platonic idea of vanilla. There is no vanilla here, but the almond does give it a macaron-like quality. Something to note is that almost all the magic happens in the first 10 minutes. Not a bad thing though. L’Amandière dries down into a musk that wears like a blousy white shirt.

I like green and don't find this particularly green. But it is pleasant. I put it on after it came into my rotation for the season, expecting something a little more perky and sweet such as Wonderlust, which also has a prominent almond note. But this isn't that. It's more pretty and sedate, with a soft languorous feel. I feel like it would do great in heat and humidity. I don't usually go for "pretty" florals but to me the almond note makes it irresistible. Considering a bottle. Let me know if you have a partial or open bottle to sell in the US!

I don't know exactly how almond trees smell like, but my intuition says that the opening of this perfume is reminiscent of their natural lush smell. As it dries down, I sense a strong fig scent which reminds me of Philosykos by Diptyque. Also the dry down (after the dominant fig accord), reminds me of Bvlgari Omnia Amethyst that I like. * I had very high hopes for this fragrance. I expected to feel a very beautiful spring, but it does not smell like my imaginary spring at all.

Very realistic and pretty cut flower with a juicy green stem. This was my first time experiencing that kind of flower plus stem olfactory magic, and it’s so cool! I don’t think I’ve ever smelled linden flowers before. For me it reminded me of cutting lilacs, the flowers and that fresh green branch. Definitely get hyacinth. As this dries down, it gets a bit soapy on me. It’s still a nice, clean scent. Great for spring, or late winter when you’re just dying for spring to come.

Trying this again today from sample! It's really fresh, like spring day sunshine, sweet & very fresh! notes that stand out are the Linden, Almond & Hyacinth, almost aquatic feel to it due to the hyacinth. Initially it reminded me of "L'Occitane Amande" which I quite like. There is a sultry feel to this, works beautifully as a skin scent too, I could see this being stunning in summer. I really do like this!

This really is a spring scent with the realistic florals smelling like a warm dewy spring day. It is a bit soapy with the florals and almond, like a creamy floral soap. I get mainly the hyacinth flower wise. It gets a little more green as it dries. This certainly hits the mark for a spring vibes but if you don’t like the hyacinth you probably won’t feel this.

I love the scent of linden blossoms, and right now the air is filled with that lovely fragrance. I’ve been looking for a linden blossom perfume; I previously tried *Flaneur* by 2787, which is a very nice and intriguing scent. *L’Amandière*, however, offers an even more realistic linden blossom note. It is softer, more feminine, and very easy to wear.

Fresh, light. Settles into Spicorific, gourmandy fabulicious sparkle. It’s not strong, so Not FB worthy, but surprisingly a strong “like”

I really wanted to love this. It has so many fans and powdery almond and fresh green are so to my taste. On me it opens with a blast of a plasticky green and heliotrope and then the fresh almond kicks in, which is a nice, pleasant soapy smell. I detect something subtly richer under the almond, which is like a very understated rose, but after that, it's fairly linear. There's not much else to it. On my skin the sillage is really faint. I don't mind if others have to be really close to smell my perfume, but I find it frustrating when I can't smell it. It feels like the fragrance of a really nice shower gel rather than a perfume. Not offensive, but nothing to rave about.

At first, it felt like very grassy. It reminded me of the playground from my elementary school, where was full of white clovers. Yes, it’s fresh and not sweet at all. After 10 minutes, it became milder and in the end, it became cozier and powdery, maybe it was violet’s smell which I like. On the other hand, it smelled like a bit sunscreen scent. For me, it’s definitely a spring scent. I don’t want to wear it, but I want to smell it sometimes especially in this middle of crazy winter.

Not a huge fan of this one, as the titular almond is more dampened by a soapy, synthetic floral scent which reminds me of a fabric softener I'd buy. Once it sets after a while it becomes pleasant but overall it feels like they missed the mark a little bit.

I like soapy fragrances and LOVE almond, but this is too soapy even for me.

Amandiere is a linear scent - an innocent, green linden. The linden is supported by hyacinth, which smells a bit like baby powder here, just without the powdery “texture”. The almond is not the main focus. Instead, the almond presents as a natural aspect of the floral scent, like how datura flowers naturally have a slight almond note. I agree that this definitely isn’t a sugared marzipan scent. This scent would be a bit childish but would still have a place in my spring rotation, but unfortunately there’s a note that makes me sneeze every time I wear it! It’s a sharp aspect to the linden that reminds me of the scented trash bags that I hate. Overall, mild dislike.

I smell spring sheets. That Lily-of-the-valley type of spring (only it's not in the notes, so it's likely the hyacinth). L'Amandiere smells of bed linens that have been sprayed to smell of spring, when everyone is sick of winter and wishes spring would arrive already. It clears your nasal passages. This is a polite lady who wears flats and twin sweater sets.

Hmm..smelled this in lessenteurs today..what a grassy lush vegetal opening...natural...but then falls flat ...and what's left doesn't stay long either. I only got 2 hrs overall. Nothing's lost, I ll revert to soft lawn by imaginary authors to satisfy that grass need :) P.s . Not getting almonds at all, florals, well, maybee....for me it's green overall

This stink, stank, stunk on me. I like to wear perfume to bed at night and this was one of the very few times I had to get up and scrub before being able to fall asleep. The opening is wonderful, I agree with that. But I suspect many reviewers here rush to write their review before sitting with this throughout it's entire cycle.

When first I used the tester of Heeley L'Amandiere, I was convinced I had picked up a vial of one of my favourites, Frederick Malle Editions, En Passant. Despite the notes being entirely different, on first application the initial blast is very, very similar. Not sure why that should be, as L'Amandiere hits the top notes of almond and linden right over the heads of the audience and out of the arena. Yet .... it still hangs around whispering "en passant, en passant". As it mellows, it begins to shed it's coats little by little, displaying beautiful diaphanous, windblown skirts of sheer hyacinth (bluebell woods), with plenty of crisp, watery green linden and a "barely there until you look for it" shy wild violet. Throughout it all, I am still looking around for the ghostly scent of lilac which keeps drifting across the air in front of me. Perhaps I am hallucinating on the tremulous mirage of spring warmth which this perfume conjures. It is a garden after a shower of rain perfume, a white muslin dress trailing in pollen.... A drift of wishful thinking? This frag smells exactly like a narrow lane I walked along in Latour Bas Elne in May, where it rained for a week, solid sheets of rain which filled the storm drains day after day. The scent which was raised from the hedgerows and fields was intense and intoxicating, and L'Amandiere is that lane in a bottle. I am in love. Whatever it is, a bottle of this has gone straight to the top of my wish list. Postscript: November 2013. I only have to sniff the cap of this bottle and I am immediately transported back to a beautiful warm day in May. The pollen is flying, the green buds have broken out of their sticky coccoons and new Horse Chestnut leaves hang limp and green like newly emerged butterflies drying their wings in the sun. I can hear the engine of the local bus taking me to the antiques market, I can see the smiles and feel the relief as passengers let the tension out of their shoulders which has accumulated throughout the cold winter. Men, young and old, are casting surreptitious admiring glances at young women bearing white shoulders for the first time in months. Sunshine, warmth, hope. Oh James Heeley, you are an artist!

زمين به بهار نشست؛ بهار گره از شكوفه باز كرد. نسيم در گيسوي بيد افشان فرو پيچيد. غنچه شكفتن آغاز كرد و سبزه دميد. گل همچون يادي فراموش گشته، در آغوش چمن بشكفت... و تو اي بهار آرزوي من، بي ‌آنكه بر من بگذري در شكوفه‌ها گردش مي‌كني، به دوش نسيم پرواز مي‌كني، در يادها مي‌گذري، در نغمه‌ها مي‌چَمي... لاماندیه، یه روز بهاری نابه که در طراوت شکوفه ها و گلهای یاس با وجه فلورال سفید و سبزشون شروع میشه و در نسیمی که یه سبد عطر تازه و گیاهی سنبل و گلبوته ها و گیاهان مختلف رو در خودش داره به جادویی از رایحه، خاطره، تصویر، آرامش و زندگی تبدیل میشه. تصویری ملموس و گیرا از تمام آنچه که در بهارانه های سال های دور من جا موندن و قسمتی از وجود منو در اون سال ها حبس کردن. بعد از این شکفتن پر از نغمه و تصویر، حالا نوبت بوی شیرین و عسلی و شهد مانند بنفشه، رز و یاس هست که این سمفونی رو به اوج خودشون برسونن و با وزش نسیمی از عطر شکوفه های مرکبات؛ عطر وارد قلب درخشان، تمیز و پودری خودش میشه که همچنان ته مایه هایی سبز و گیاهی و گلبوته ای در خودش داره. با رخت بر بستن جادوی صبحگاهی گیاهی- سبز و پودری و شیرین، عطر با حالتی تمیز و تازه به بیس بادومی و کمی خامه ای خودش وارد میشه و داستان رو در فضایی درخشان، تازه و گورمند خاتمه میده. لاماندیه یه بهارانه ی عمیق و دلکشه. درسته پخش چندانی نداره اما اجرای با شکوه و دلپسندی از خودش به یادگار میذاره که یاد آور درخشش و دلبرانگی هاست؛ و ماندگاری طولانی اون، مثل بهارانه هایی هست که تا همیشه در ذهن و قلب، ماندگارن. انتظارها و بی قراری ها، دلشوره ها و دلبستن ها و لبخند هایی که در جادوی بهار، هنوز هم تازه و پر تلألوء هستن و هنوز هم در شکوفه ها گردش میکنن، به دوش نسیم پرواز میکنن و با چنین عطر هایی در یادها میگذرن و خاطرات رو زنده میکنن... کامنت: م.ع (سایت لوکس بایر (با امکان تست سمپل

Watery green almonds and spring rain-soaked fresh blossom to begin, this slowly becomes more and more purple, this is really a very floral fragrance, polleny and life-like. To me it's not as strong as a hyacinth, it smells like a mix of hyacinth and bluebell. Later on, it does retain the green feel but it turns more into stems and thick leaves, like the entire hyacinth, it also feels a bit solar to me, the jasmine comes though later and I think that's what is making it feel solar, along with the fresh green almond. Later still it's creamier and soapier, but still floral. I think this is unlikely to be a love for a lot of people, it does have a vintage feel to it. I really like this, it's very spring and very natural smelling. It's quite strong and lasts a long time. I tested the EDP version.

After ten years Heeley has discontinued L'Amandiere in its original Extrait de Parfum formula and now makes it as an EDP. I had a sample of the Extrait de Parfum and could not discern the difference between the original and the new formula. This was my most worn perfume this spring, and I have several other lovely spring florals to choose from. L'Amandiere is very fresh, green, and vernal. In Perfumes: The Guide (2018) Luca Turin compares it to the voices of French women, "flirty freshness that always borders on insolence when properly done." Although it has a French country orchard vibe, I can confirm that it's equally pleasant to wear during springtime in NYC.

Slightly sharp lily of the valley like hyacinth on a creamy almond butter base combined with bright, honey sweet florals. The opening is fresh and green-herbal. There’s a noticeable mint note here and joined by the honeyed florals they translate in my head to fruitiness, that for some reason reminds me of ice cold pears, refrigerated pears. It brings to mind spring time, meadows of wildflowers and clean white linen swaying in mild spring air. Light, bright and delicate. As the florals fade, the almond becomes the highlighted note, carrying the blend toward a sweet but subtle gourmand finale. 6.5/10

I adore clean, green woody scents and was directed to L’Almandière by someone whose taste I really trust, as we both adore the l’occitane almond range - but having impulsively bought a FB, do not think that this is for me. I was hoping for the woodiness to stay around a little longer, but it dries to something quite floral on me. If there are fans on here you’d like to make an offer on my brand new bottle, I’d love it to find a loving good home, let me know. I bought it earlier this month, it’s brand new and won’t get used! 💚🌿

Oh I so feel this one! Like the reviewer below, I find this super emotive, delicate, etheral, breathtaking, like the smell of spring after a long winter. You really do feel this scent! Super delicate linden and hyacinth, the florals of my childhood springs, and green at the same time, almond is more of an almond blossom. I must have this. I don't sample enough earthy spring florals, I think it's time I find more! Edit: sadly the promising l'amour disappears in a few minutes and leaves a wet smelling mess on your skin.

Writing this on Bonfire Night in England - having spent weeks sampling spiced woody, leathery-oudy, whisky-rozy, vanilla laced Winter perfumes! I have a Spring childhood memory - in a Kentish garden, bordering orchards, jumping up to grab cobnuts, and peeling back the curly paper shell to nibble (grimacing) the tart nutty innards. So, this is...... sappy, green milky, soapy, white violets and hyacinths. Needs lively bright, blackbird morning Spring warmth to bring it into its own, I think. Not Fireworks Night!!

L'Amandiere is a cool, powdery, slightly stony blend of almond, heliotrope, lilac, hyacinth, and musk. Perhaps its closest cousin is Opardu, but at times it reminded me of En Passant, L'Eau d'Hiver, and even Bas de Soie. This fragrance should be everything I love, but... it isn't. There is something empty; hollow in the center of this scent, as though it needed either some unique edge to grab my attention, or the core of the scent needed more body and warmth. Beautiful, but soulless, and rather outclassed.

Well it is an interesting scent but not what I was expecting. I thought it would be more floral given the note breakdown but not so. There was an initial blast of tilia (yum) but then it quickly became a soft green, cut grass style perfume with mint and green almond. It is the epitome of spring and freshness, like rolling in soft grass without the hay fever. I love it and am waiting for spring to come. It is not bracing or brisk at all- it’s very hazy and gentle- unisex and work safe.

le sigh. another beautiful perfume with no staying power on me. i just love the initial blast of linden and almond blossoms that smells close to the l'occitane l'amande range - a scent profile i've been searching for! but it dissipates far too quickly on me to justify the hefty price tag... eta: i've held on to my sample and 3 years later i've finally caved and procured an fb of the now edt!
