Note de Yuzu

Unbelievable top note! Very vivid yuzu fizz and yellow grapefruit zest morphing slowly into a a fruity sweet mandarin. If you like tart citrus notes like I do, you have to try this one, it is hands down the best I have smelled. The citrus gets slightly sweeter with time but unfortunately it is pretty short lasting, dissipating in half an hour or so. However, the heart and base are no less exquisite. I would best describe it as a convincing natural ambergris recreation, a touch of calone, some green notes, presumably a lighter Haitian vetiver, and a good amount of eugenol and other spicy notes. The result is a very convincing mineral/salt water touch alla Sel Marin, but toned down. it is this elaborate Grecian balance between sharp stimulating juicy citrus top and cleansing harmonic grassy mineral water heart which leaves no doubt in my mind that this is the absolute perfect bright citrus watery scent for the summer (probably all year round for me). Edit: With ambergris I don't mean ambrox. rather a natural ethereal salty muskiness. To clarify about similarities with Sel Marin, I hold both at high regard. Sel Marin feels far more intense, salty and woody entering the territory of pleasant bitterness, while Note de Yuzu is pure citrus enjoyment with a touch of saltiness in the dry down.

I want this!!!!!! I thought I wouldn ́t love it because I saw vertiver and sea salt which are usually not my type at the beginning. Surprisingly, this has fascinated me a lot. the beginning is a very bright fresh citrusy salty note which feels like drinking Sprite with salt which is one of my fav drinks in summer. However I don ́t know if it is what the Yuzu smells like but to me it smells like lemon. personally, I hope the scent of mandarin or orange could be a little stronger becuase i feel the lemon scent which usually makes me think of a little bit of car perfume more. One thing I want to add is that when I read others' feedback that it smell totally like pomelo tea, I felt the same way totally. And now I just enjoy it a lot. It is young, thrilling, delicious, fresh, bright. I think if you like Oyedo by diptyque, Orange Sanguine, Pomélo Paradis, Clémentine California by Atelier Cologne you are gonna like it also.

New Heeley...?!?! I'm stoked BIG TIME! Sergio Momo and his house of Xerjoff are often commended and praised for their AUTHTENTIC and classic interpretations of citrus notes, but sniff for yourself and you'll see that James Heeley is right up there, even surpassing in some ways the portfolio of Xerjoff.... Personally, I'd put Menthe Fraiche, Figuier, Sel Marin and Oranges & Lemons side by side, head-to-head and up against Kobe, Nio, 40 Knots or any of the others any day of the week!!! I just can't wait to see his signature on this Yuzu based frag.... The last Yuzu to blow me away was the 2009 Summer Edition of L'eau D'issey...... And yes, to a lesser degree the Yuzu Man by Caron..... I just can't wait to delve into this..... Sometimes, it really doesn't require a complex, multi-faceted frag with a tonne of notes to inspire/stimulate the Olfactive senses.......

Opens with the most gorgeous citrus notes, yuzu and grapefruit, very realistic and bracing. The Heeley openings are kind of blowing me away. The dry down is similar to Sel Marin, but I think I like this better. It has what I like in Sel Marin, the sea-saltiness, plus the beautiful bright citrus. A fragrance to brighten the mood. Perfect for spring and summer, or anytime you need a pick me up. It's casual and cool and modern feeling. Even my roommate who is sensitive to fragrance liked this! And for a citrus, it actually lasts a reasonable amount of time! I have a decant now and when it's done I definitely want a full of bottle of it. Every Heeley I’ve tried I’ve at least liked, and most have grown into loves.

This perfume is bright yellow. The opening is more about grapefruit with yuzu taking the back seat. There’s a sour note in Note de Yuzu that makes my taste buds dance. Within 40 minutes, yuzu is forward and everything starts to smooth out. Dry down is a salty pine forest, which I think must be the vetiver. Performance for a citrus scent is above average, and I think Note de Yuzu could be a mood lifter in colder months. I love this scent, I love yuzu and I would love to own it. Unfortunately I can’t buy everything I love.

YYYUUUUUUUUZZUUUUUUUUU I'm sorry about that. But there is no other way to describe this one than to go standing on a tiny beach and yell the word YUZU. I personally love tiny beaches. And yuzu. So it's cool for me. But you know, you really have to love yuzu if you want to wear this one.

Definitely one of the best citrus perfumes out there...this is fresh, juicy, bright and energizing...the yuzu note is similar to grapefruit, and the addition of lemon and salt make this just about perfect...decent longevity for a citrus perfume...just about perfect...

This perfume has completely changed my view of perfume art. Not that I wear it as a personal perfume, but it is wonderful. It's like Europa + Japan and a little metal. Parem is constantly changing and playing with dualities 9.3/10 Very good longevity 18h.

The simplicity of the fragrance helps put the amazing and very natural yuzu note upfront. The vetiver is very subtle, serves more like an anchor for the more volatile notes. A dumb reach in my collection because it always lifts up my mood

Fierce, no-compromise ZING fading fast to impeccable minimal cool. That first SLAP! of seriously acid, impressively bitter, true-to-life zest is amazing - and mouthwatering, although you can imagine your mouth puckering at even just the thought of licking anything this citric. Now I love the smell (and the taste) of yuzu but can't deny it's PIERCING - like the sharpest notes of grapefruit and lemon combined - but that very same acid, edge-of-discomfort quality is what makes it the most perfect in some settings. In food, to cut real richness - or to play up the almost-sweetness that some seafoods can have. Plays beautifully with salt. So you can see a similar progression at work here. Now for some, yuzu simply goes too far - it becomes shrieking, edgy, shrill, annoying, biting - like one of the Beastie Boys shout/whining in your ear. Love or hate it, it's impossible to ignore - it has so much attack and character and makes its presence felt. If you get yuzu juice on a cut or a tender spot you'll know it - that stuff STINGS. Note de Yuzu is a fair reflection of that, and I have heard some people say it put their teeth on edge - just too screechy and aggressive. One even said it's the only scent that's ever made them ANGRY on application (and they admired it overall and rated its performance.) If it had a colour it would be that unbelievably bright neon-yellow-with-a-lime-green-tinge that LEAPS out of any backdrop or off any canvas to hit you straight in the eye. Personally I love an overly-acid-tongued teenage brat and this one is no exception - for its wit and its style. But that wham!bam! aromatic burst at first can't last for long. Unfortunately the great opening cannot sustain and it gets steadily paler and loses the all-out 'fight for your right to be bitterly outspoken' struggle in under an hour. Leaves a still refreshing but much more generic, paler green, cool musk-and-clean-vetiver aura behind for maybe an hour or two more. If you get lucky you might still catch the odd random whiff of transporting citrus-peel magic from skin over the next hour or to after that. So: it's sharp stuff indeed - but will sharpen your senses and maybe your wits along with it. Absolutely made for warm-to-hot days; I think the sheer cool and acidity of it wouldn't land too well in cold weather, but I've never had the audacity to try. In summer this is everything you could desire in a fresh spritz and you'd leave everyone else gaping in your effortlessly classy wake. Warning: if you buy a full bottle of this - use it up fast! My initial use of half a sample about 9 months back produced a giant cloud of fizzy, energetic (maybe even hyperactive) yuzu which hung around a little longer. Using the rest of the spray now, it's calmed down a LOT (despite being kept in a cool dark place) - and the zesty bite has died back noticeably , even when first applied. Still recognisably the same perfume, it hasn't turned, and is still great fun, but is a paler version of its previous obnoxiously acid-yellow self. Like a real yuzu, seems like this scent is best picked and served fresh as possible, and spending time on a shelf doesn't do it many favours. Longevity is far too fleeing and price too high. Still rates a love from me for the aroma but I don't feel driven to buy a large amount, especially given the issues with long storage. In short: Heeley, you do that yuzu voodoo that you do so well! A summer smash for the smell. Maybe not so much for the overall value. But definitely, definitely worth a sniff for yuzu enthusiasts, Heeley fans or those looking for one of the coolest cats around in baking-hot summer scenarios.

Great citrus that has obvious Sel Marin overlap but with the marine notes calmed down and the citrus given a grapefruit and orange addition instead of mainly sharp lemons. Very nice but very low projection its almost a skin scent from the outset and while it stays like that for a while it is very poor value it seems. Menthe Fraiche performed much better as did Sel Marin. Menthe Fraiche's dry down was also superb, Sel Marin and this one are a little challenging with their slight fresh Oyster/Seafood like notes, it's less pronounced in this compared to Sel Marin as mentioned but it's there. This is one of those scents that makes you appreciate what you already have much more, Nio and many more in Xerjoff's lineup really are in a different league for how they do their citrus imho, perhaps not in initial scent and how natural feeling but in sheer performance and overall satisfaction, they are citrus monsters. I enjoy Heeley's line especially Menthe Fraiche but it would be an extravagant purchase I feel given the performance they offer. The top notes are beautiful though I have to say. edit: that said I found a great deal on this in a frag group and picked up a 50ml. I stand by the fact it is too expensive for what it does, but a deal is a deal.

Drinkable, like the fanciest lemonade that costs you $6 a bottle in the rich part of town. Cool and ozonic like an ocean breeze and leaning sweet rather than tart or sour, perhaps a touch salty. A little fizzy too, maybe there is a sprinkle of aldehydes. Slightly different on skin than paper. Like most citrus fragrances you will get amazing projection for a relatively shorter period of time, and i’ve heard that citrus notes become radiant with a bit of UV exposure so warm weather would be best. It shouldn’t be up to me to tell you that this is best worn in summer though, that’s obvious from the name and notes. If you love a sweet citrus cologne (like I do) then you should still seek out a sample as some aroma chemicals can turn sour or become headache inducing to different noses (that being said, it smells very natural). On my skin the seaweed note becomes more prominent.

Very fresh, and uplifting fragrance. This fragrance was created for a Japanese house and a Japanese citrus, Yuzu, is combined with grapefruit and mandarine. It starts very citrusy, both sour and sweet, and fizzy. Then it dries down on an aromatic, salty, and aquatic base. I personally like those citrus fragrances that are balanced with a touch of sweetness and the grapefruit and mandarin do this job. I like the salty accord on a citrus combination, it is very interesting, and modern to me that gives some sort of energy and playfulness to the composition. I see the similarity to the Sel Marine, this one is more citrusy and the other is more aquatic. Between the two, I prefer Sel Marin. 7/10

It's nice. Grapefruit and yuzu dominate the opening and fade somewhat quickly, after which the saltiness comes through. Reminds me a little of Imaginary Authors Sundrunk minus that rhubarb note. Note quite as sour or tart as I like my citruses, and not an out-and-out aquatic, so it's hard to see where this might fit into my fragrance wardrobe. I think if you are going to spend niche money on a summer fragrance, there are better options available in both categories. But if you're looking for a catch all summer day fragrance you cant go too far wrong with this. I like it, but not bottle-worthy. (dislike/indifferent/like,but not BW/like a lot, potentially BW/love, definitely BW/masterpiece)

Yuzu is like japanese lemon which its main use comes from its skin. This opens like a realistic juicy yuzu, just like someone is zesting some yuzu in front of me. The opening does stay for a while, which is surprisingly good for a bright scent like this. Then it develops into a nice scent which is hard to describe with still retain this yuzu feels, but i guess its from salt, seaweed and musk. Performance wise, this is absolute terrific considering its a citrus-type of scent. Spray around lunch time and still get a whiff of it in the evening. If you like bright citruscy scent without being too generic, I would recommend this.

Starts off with a bitter, strong yuzu, which is realistic and powerful. It is refreshing and intoxicating. However the aquatic drydown is less appealing, somewhat offputting even though it does remind me of a yuzu sake's after taste. Even though I don't love it I do miss this smell when I don't wear it and it is surprisingly addictive. I think you need to apply it generously to avoid the dominance of the base notes.

Such a beautiful celebration of sweet, fresh, aromatic yuzu. The marine and salt notes are SO GOOD in this - oftentimes these elements turn funky on me and can ruin an otherwise beautiful fragrance, but here they are held in lovely balance. It has a reserved "cleanness" to it, like white linens line-dried in bright sunshine. I like this a lot, but not enough to bite the bullet for this price.

Fresh, juicy yuzu fruit. Zesty citrus, kinda watery, has this underlying clean powdery musk and light green accord running through it. A little sweet and a little salty, but more a margarita glass than marine. I get no throw on this at all, though, so maybe if I could smell it better I could get a better idea of its depth. Very soft projection for maybe an hour tops, longevity 4-5hr.

A very fresh and bracing citrus scent, I like that it has the Sel Marin aquatic notes in the background then layered with yuzu which smells like zesty grapefruit. I need to be in the right mood / situation to wear this. Good for travel, walking, going to uni. A good perfume to wear for doing active things. Heeley fragrances are generally excellent quality.

A big pomelo with a marine vibe. Many aquatic/marine fragrances start with a citrusy note, but this one doesn't transition into a purely aquatic scent—it stays in that fresh, fruity stage, and it's quite pleasant. At the beginning, there's a burst of fresh spiciness that's a bit pungent—like the intense smell that hits when you first peel a pomelo.

Great marine fragrance and citrus smells really high quality. Citrus here is tart and little bit bitter, almost no sweetness at all which makes it more appealing to mature audiences. It can remind you of a drinking cocktail in the beach. By the way, the base of this fragrance may be the same one as Sel Marin but with the addition of the yuzu.

This is absolutely radiant. The opening is a very strong yuzu and grapefruit combination that immediately brings back memories of the summer heat beating down on your face. It stays on your skin just as strong as the first spray for quite a while and dries down to a salty, woody base. Definitely going to be my Spring/Summer scent!

A good yuzu citrus soap scent. I find it pleasant though-out to dry down. I don’t usually like any aquatic seaweed but it works here. I much prefer this one over the eau de yuzu nicolai.

Very strong citrus opening, bordering on cleaning product but in a good way if that makes sense. Aromatic accords are way more prominent on skin.

Note de Yuzu is aptly named: the yuzu/grapefruit accord in the opening is among be the very best citrus notes I've ever smelled, so sparklingly bright and realistic, super zesty and just a total joy. Unfortunately, as is inevitable for this type of note, the phase where it's at its energetic best lasts for about three minutes, and the rest of the development is much less in line with my personal taste. It's not bad at all, in fact I'd agree with other reviewers who have called this fragrance beautifully composed, but from a few minutes in the salt note that joins the citrus starts to make it just a little too masculine for my own taste, and as it dries down the combination of seaweed, vetiver and musk help it further along that path. Interesting to see that another reviewer has called it more feminine than masculine - that just goes to show how subjective these labels are, but still: after five minutes or so, I think I'd like it more on someone else than on myself. That opening really is a true joy, though, and I'm glad to have a little decant in my collection to enjoy it again from time to time!

Cleaning product! Super cheap and screechy, I don't dislike the scent of lemon cleaning products but I do not quite understand the market for luxury citrus colognes, they are the most dirt cheap and most fleeting fragrance oils you can buy, just throw on some 4711 and call it a day (you'll smell more expensive too!)

Incredibly intense citrus oil opening. Dries to a tepid white musk. My favorite of all yuzu scents simply for its single-minded devotion to the fruit. Uncomplicated by other flavors. Unfortunately, the longevity of this zeal is very very poor, and fades quickly to something less interesting by orders of magnitude.

So bright and and fresh out of the gate. It’s like you just cut into some citrus, yuzu, I would guess. Then it dries down into something duller and more lemony, even a bit like lemon pledge. Although it still continues to perform hard with the lemony and green/rind essence for a longer time than I expected.

Top and middle phases were great and made me think I found a nice yuzu centric aquatic that works even with the seaweed note. The citruses disappeared after some time and drydown presented so much calone and some low grade musk which made this a no for me, unfortunately.

Almost exactly the same as Sel Marin, but more wearable. Add some sweet yuzu, take away the fishy notes. Decent aquatic scent for the beach, but borders on smelling like cheap shampoo for kids.

Not bad, possibly better than Nicolai’s Yuzu.

Got a 2ml decant of this cause i've been looking for summer scents. This is... not it. The opening of this is really wonderful - lots of bright lemony yuzu citrus with a bit of that salt and seaweed in the background, just to give it a little something something. Maybe a bit harsh in the opening, but still really pleasant. Then comes the dry down... and eugh... This is one of the only fragrances i've tried where i'm seriously debating washing it off my skin. I don't get even a sliver of citrus in the dry down, just straight seaweed and burnt rubber. Like if I set an old tire on fire, threw it into the saltiest and fishiest part of the ocean, then retrieved it and took a big whiff. Maybe it's just my skin chemistry but MAN, this is gross lol. It's also strong and the scent is like radiating into my nose in waves. It could also be because i'm testing this out with Profumum Roma's Acqua Viva on the other hand (which is a much better citrus) so all of the pleasant notes are being muted. Maybe need to give it a week and test this by itself, but maaaaaaaaaaaaaaan I don't think so.

Nope. A scrubber. As one of the AI-generated "cons" listed above says, there is a "slightly screechy or abrasive note in the mix". And as someone else in these comments said, Note de Yuzu is what a lemon, high in chemicals, cleaning product would smell like. This imo simply is not good perfumery. And this doesn't smell much at all like the superior Sel Marine, which is among my favorites. Nor does it smell like the classic L'eau D'issey by Issey Miyake, another yuzu fragrance. I voted it off the "this perfume reminds me of....." list above. Note de Yuzu simply smells bad. Bug spray is overused as a negative association, but in this case its warranted.

strong citrus/yuzu opening, very fresh, really tart, a bit too close to cleaning products, the sillage has something a bit off at the very end of it, like a very generic marine scent which I hate, on the dry down up close I don't get seaweed or anything like that, but the yuzu just gets weaker and turns into a generic marine-ish musk very fast, this almost smells like cheap cologne and performs like one too I'd just rather go for Issey Miyake L'Eau D'Issey if I wanted a well balanced, nice and high quality yuzu fragrance, this is pretty disappointing

This is one of the most realistic citrus opening I've ever smelled. But after 5 mins it transforms into this seaweed thing that makes you stink like a fisherman.

I love my Aquatic and salty fragrances that smell fresh/zesty/salty/beachy. But this... my goodness, was this a HUGE disappointment to me! Not a safe blind buy, so please test it out on your skin/clothes and let it develop. This is what a lemon, high in chemicals, cleaning product would sell like.

This is a horrible scent. Smells citrusy/cleaning product, fishy from the seaweed like you enter a fish market. One of the worst perfumes I've ever smelled in my life. Screechy & synthetic mess.

Unfortunately I had to sell my bottle, because after a beautiful start... after some time, the scent on me changed into the scent of lemon Ace. Unbearable.

Very good. Note de Yuzu is one of those realistic, exceptionally fresh citrus scents that closely resemble the actual fruit after which it's named. Yuzu is sharp, kind of dry, and it has a particularly pungent aroma that makes it very different than lemon or orange or grapefruit or any other citrus note. To me, it comes across very "yellow," and a bit bright. Note de Yuzu opens with this bright, dry-citrus astringency. Though it's not a particularly strong fragrance (it's not weak either), its sharpness cuts through the air making it very easy to detect and with plenty of oomph to move it along. This is Note de Yuzu's first phase and it's well done, but whether or not you like it will completely depend on how you interpret the yuzu fruit--will you find it unique and palatable, or sharp and disturbing? After about half an hour, the yuzu loses some of its sharpness and instead a marine accord takes development, resembling the cleaner aquatic aspects of Sel Marin. So in this sense the aquatic aspect is realistic and very well-executed, but lacking some of the "fishier" dimensions that Sel Marin possesses. I find Note de Yuzu's aquatic phase very enjoyable, a nice reprieve from the piercing sharpness of the opening, and demonstrating a gentle, easy-to-be-around freshness marked by some residual fizziness of the yuzu. I wore this to work recently and easily over-sprayed by applying 8 spritzes to my body. It was strong at this level, which obviously surprised me. So I believe Note de Yuzu is stronger than some may think, and jumps off the skin fairly well. It also hangs in the air well, with impressive sillage. I've described the two main phases of Note de Yuzu and if there's a third, I haven't really noticed it. The second phase--the blend of the sharp, dry, fizzy yuzu accord and the softer, breezier, marine aquatic element--seems to be where the fragrance stays when I wear it, as it gradually fades out from there. I get about 6 hours of longevity with this, maybe 7. Note de Yuzu almost feels like it could be part of the Atelier line, sitting among Pomelo Paradis, Bergamot Soleil, and Orange Sanguine. It has the same realistically fresh approach which people tend to like, but sometimes feel may be a little too realistic, resembling the fruit more than a proper fragrance. But here the aquatic element swoops in in time, adding a different angle to the scent and making it, in my opinion, easier and more enjoyable to wear. Overall score is an 8 out of 10. Thumbs up.

Note de Yuzu was created as an homage to yuzuyu, the yuzu bath Japanese traditionally take on the Toji, the day of the winter solstice. Yuzu is a citrus fruit common in Japan. Rich in essential oils, the peel contains the chemical compound yuzunone which gives yuzu a balsamic, almost floral touch. Often compared to the scent of grapefruit, the yuzu and mandarin creates a softness and fuzzy warmth in the opening which robs any comparisons with grapefruit’s sharp and acerbic nature. After the initial hesperidic opening, the best way I can describe Note de Yuzu is ‘citrus-scented steam’: it almost feels like one is lying in a bathtub, whole yuzu fruit bobbing in the water and releasing their essential oils into the steam rising around you. Many people have likened Note de Yuzu to a reworked Sel Marin, but there is no algae note in Note de Yuzu and the salt has been toned down as well. The yuzu also gives the fragrance a touch of mint. It’s a comforting scent, with pleasantly surprisingly longevity: I can spray this on my chest first thing in the morning and still smell it at the end of the day. It is marketed as unisex but people should be aware it’s pretty much straight-up citrus with a clean white musk and light vetiver base. Oddly for a citrus fragrance, I like wearing it in the daytime in colder weather as much as during the summer. Note de Yuzu has an aromatherapy feel and is also one of the few scents I enjoy when I have a cold.

My FAVORITE yuzu perfume to date. I have tried so many — Aqua Di Parma’s Yuzu, Parfums de Nicolai Eau de Yuzu, J-Scent’s Yuzu, Guerlain’s Aqua Allegoria Forte Out Yuzu, Stranger’s Yuzu Soda, Zoologist’s Macaque Yuzu, and Universal Flowering’s Burst. Nothing hits the nail on the head quite like this fragrance. Note de Yuzu is perfectly unisex, not sweet or fruity in any way. The opening is so lovely and crisp. Some might say the initial spray is too sharp like a Lysol grapefruit cleaner. But I disagree. There is somewhat of clean/soapy accord but it’s not sterile. It’s just VERY tart which is exactly what the Japanese fruit is supposed to smell like. The citrus is bitter and bright without being too green or too fresh and spicy. Many yuzu forward fragrances I’ve tried have notes like thyme, mint, or pepper which comes off too strongly in the dry down for my liking. Note de Yuzu’s dry down is wonderful. After the citrus fades, I smell sea salt and white musk the most on my skin. I don’t smell straight up seaweed as other people describe but I can envision myself on boat, tasting the salty coastal air. You definitely won’t like this if you don’t like marine or aquatic scents. But this is a hot weather must-have if you LOVE yuzu. 10/10

من این عطر رو چندبار تست کردم تا کاملا بازی نت ها رو زیر نظر بگیرم . ولی آنچنان که باید و شاید نظر مثبت منو جلب نکرد . استارت عطر بیشتر بوی پوملو میده تا یوزو یعنی حس سیتروسی و سبز استارت عطر دوست داشتم فیزی و نفیس و سوزان باشه مثل اوفورو که نیست . چند دقیقه بعد از استارت حس بوی سبز نمود بیشتری پیدا می‌کنه که منشا دریایی داره . من احساس میکنم تو این عطر هم منتول داره هم کالون . چون حس بوی دریایی و خنکی از شروع تا پایان حس میشه . بعد از نیم ساعت همه چی به نفع بوی آکورد مرکباتی ( پوست مرکبات) شکل میگیره . بیشتر بوی پوست لیمو حس میشه و از شدت بوی سبز کم میشه ولی حس سنتتیک منتول ( ماده موثره نعنا ) و کالون توجه منو بیشتر جلب می‌کنه. نکته مهم تو این عطر پرفورمنس نامطلوب و پخش بوی ضعیف هست که عجیبه چون کلا ریز مولکوله و فرار. نکته دوم شارپ و شفاف نبودن حس پوست مرکباته . بوی ی کیسه لیمو و نعنا گندیده یا مونده تو پلاستیک رو میده که طراوت نداره . در ضمن من احساس میکنم این عطر رو فرمول سل مارین باز تعریف شده بطور کلی عطر بدی نیست ولی من از هیلی توقع بیشتری داشتم . که حداقل عطرش بوی قرص جوشان لیمویی نده

I’m not a huge fan of the salty/seaweed trend, but I will say that this is really pleasant in the right setting. I’ve been back and forth between liking this and loathing it, eventually realizing that the weather and setting makes a huge difference. I live in a coastal subtropical city where it’s hot most of the year, and much like I can’t wear a dark vanilla-y spicy amber bomb or smoky incense most of the time (and despise those who do), I imagine a midwesterner in the thick of winter will find this screechy and fishy. I’ll wear this to a hot day at the beach or outdoor market and it’s beautiful, beachy, and classy, but this would be awful at the air conditioned hospital at 3am. If you don’t have many opportunities to wear shorts and sandals, go for a decant rather than a full bottle.

Note De Yuzu opens with an holographic note of fizzy / zesty / juicy green citrus. In this phase, the accord is so literal to make me salivate. Very aromatic and hyper vivid without falling too much into functional smells territories. I'm not a huge fan of citrus but the accord is so well executed that I've found it pretty entertaining. Unfortunately the fragrance slowly turn into a Sel Marin clone introducing exactly the same salty / clean musky / woody vetiver base. Now, while I really dig Sel Marin, I find Note De Zuzu a bit redundant for those who already own the former. It could instead make a valid option for those who don't own Sel Marin or have a particular affection for citrus-themed compositions that don't feel too Eau De Cologne-ish. Rating: 6.5/10

This has an incredible noticeable yuzu note (and it smells distinct from other citrus fruits) with slight mint in background (not listed as a note). It's like they added yuzu to Heeley's Menthe Fraiche. This doesn't smell like Sel Marine much at all. However projection is subtle while longevity is quite good. I wish the projection were better but this is a really nice take on the yuzu note in any case. Yuzu as a fruit, to me smells like 1/3 grapefruit, 1/3 citron, and 1/3 lime. It's very unique and different from other citrus fruits. However, in the end I ended up selling this because it simply does not perform as great as it should for the pricetag (though I suspect that's a consequence of it being a citrus fragrance as well). 4/5
