L'Essence de la Terre

A friend recommended that I add this little gem to my collection, and she was absolutely right! This is a beautiful and very wearable perfume for patchouli lovers. Let me compare it to other well-known patchouli masterpieces. First of all, L'Essence de la Terre could be a perfect everyday substitute for Chanel Coromandel EDP because it features a similar combination of patchouli with chocolate, rose, and woody notes. In direct comparison, Coromandel is a bit denser, less sweet, and more unisex; but if you're looking for an affordable substitute for Coromandel without compromising on longevity, then look no further! On the other side of the sweet-patchouli spectrum, a comparable scent is Lush Lord of Misrule. I own Lord of Misrule in both solid and liquid versions, but I rarely wear the liquid because it is very strong and quite overwhelming. In direct comparison, L'Essence de la Terre is less sweet, more herbal, more transparent, and not so obnoxious. Unlike Lord of Misrule, which should be reserved for cold weather and special occasions, L'Essence de la Terre is wearable year-round. I see that some reviewers have also compared L'Essence de la Terre to Mugler Angel, but I don't find them very similar. Yes, they share some notes, but the olfactory experience is quite different: where Angel is a 'cold' and piercing scent, with an abundance of gourmand notes, making it smell like a rich, chilled chocolate cake, straight out of a fridge, L'Essence de la Terre is a much 'warmer' scent, evoking an aromatic herbal liquor that should be consumed at room temperature. So, I wholeheartedly recommend L'Essence de la Terre, and I'd be happy to hear from other Fragrantica users whether my comparisons are correct!

Fantastic, warm and comforting scent, it was love at first sniff for me 😊 it's deep and sweet and spicy in a comforting and cosy way. It's not heavy or overly sweet, just like a warm hug with some excitement added due to the spicy nature. Comforting but still interesting and complex enough. It sounds funny but I feel it's soothing and just a bit mysterious in the same time 😊 (similarly to nature itself being both comforting and mysterious... ) In my opinion it can be worn anytime, apart from the hottest summer days. Definite love for me, one of my current favourites.

Beautiful fragrance! If you love DNA from Lanvin Avantgarde, you will like this perfume. Honey based with patchuli and florals is perfect for spring. This is non-lactonic gourmand. Im enjoying it and it makes me happy when Im wearing it. It has syrupy effect which I love. And parfume is for sure deserving mark above 4 not matter what.

It reminds me of being in the woods after it rained, and also of salty licorice. It's spicy and bitter but with some subtle sweetness. I am currently obsessed with it, and the price made me buy it without thinking twice.

I know this might sound crazy, but to me, this is Chanel Antaeus, made mass appealing, sweet spicy and Unisex.

It possesses a subtle, earthy note that grounds the fragrance, creating a harmonious resonance with its name.

I really liked it on paper - woody, spicy but on my skin it is just sweet, sickly sweet, sadly had to pass - if only it would have smelled like it did on paper :(
