Cuir Eternel

Gorgeous scent, I have been truly amazed by this. I had no idea of what to expect... the cuir on the name made me think of a heavy leather and I sprayed a tiny bit with high skepticism as I generally pass on most leathery frags. What charmed me immediately was a unique pairing with sweet woods and flowers, some people mention oud but I first thought of something sweeter, imagine Dzing! and take the overly sweet caramel out of the picture... something very well blended, breathtaking really... this stage doesn't last for more than 15 minutes, glorious 15 minutes though, and then there is a clear decrease in volume but still very noticeable and longlasting, more than 24hs on my skin. This is so easy to wear, no rough edges at all, it is so chic and reliable... I hope it will become a staple in my collection. On a last note, I wouldn't say this is groundbreaking in terms of originality of the smell itself but I cannot think of any other scent that could replace it so I still feel it is very niche in the quality and I am sure most people would like this. Plus it delivers a concentrated parfum depth for a very reasonable price. I am hoping to read many reviews in here soon as it's been 3 years since this was released and only 2 more reviews? Crazy.

I mostly get leather with a hint of civet and floral components. very "french" as it remains somewhat clean despite the animalic component. Some cummin creeps up after an hour, sadly too much for me :( . This is insanely good quality for the price you can get a 100ml for at the moment (65 euros)!

I don't know if this is a thing in other countries as well, but in Finland there are tar-flavored foods (candies, liqueur, etc.) and this immediately made me think of Tervaleijona tar pastilles! Semi-sweet and with a distinct moreish tar character on a neutral licorice base.

Take a brand new pair of leather shoes, put some pot-pourri in it and you will get something very similar to this fragrance. It is not an unpleasant smell at all, but I just cannot see myself wearing it. It'll be more like one spray for myself from time to time. I think overall it's what these Source d'Origine fragrances are for: they are not fragrances to please your colleagues or your date, they are inspired scents designed for a personal experience.

I've developed a true craving for this. It's both kinda dank and sweet. The vanilla is so beautiful, but I don't think you actually need to love vanilla to like this fragrance. It has this contrast that makes me think of old leather with some tobacco soaked into it worn on top of white silk. This was my first contact with oud and as such, I think it's a very nice one for beginners. The leather-tobacco tones remind me of Rochas Femme, but this feels a bit more clean to me tbh. They're similar in texture but Cuir Eternel, to me, is a bit more like... the beginning of the evening, while Femme might be the end, maybe even the morning-after. Cuir Eternel is more proper or presentable, woody, gentlemanly, some kind of a sweet booze, vanilla cigarettes, while Femme is you in bed, not yet showered, and you can smell the alcohol in your sweat, trying to get up for a smoke out the french balcony.
