Like the previous reviewer, I find this hard to get my nose round. After a few wearings I think it's a kind of tamped-down dried-rose-petal fragrance made somehow jammier or almost gummy, perhaps from the jasmine, with a supporting nagormatha/cypriol note (which I love). Seems to fade out relatively quickly but the gummy rose reappears hours later, at random. I don't get the saffron or vetiver. Definitely fits with the 1920s Modernist theme, it's both modern and 'preserved', like black-and-white photography. Complex and interesting, not sure I'd purchase a bottle. UPDATE: the more I wear this the more I like it. The best way I can think of to describe it is as dried-rose-petal-flavoured gummy bears with a touch of cypriol (gurjan balsam?) or nagormatha smoke - I love anything turpentine-ish - which ultimately dissipates to leave just the floral-rose gummy bear. Low sillage & somehow quite tamped-down but long lasting. Low-impact yet expressive.

Unique, well-blended, ethereal. It’s everything and nothing at once. If I had to give it a vibe, I would say South of France on a hot dry afternoon in late summer. The grasses are parched, some crops have been gathered already and the soil turned over. There’s herbs drying in the wind, a garden with wilting flowers, some citrus zest sprayed in the air. There’s way more going on than the notes listed here. It’s easy to wear and likeable, but definitely niche. This is what I thought Nicolai Vie de Chateau was going to smell like.

It is difficult today to find a fragrance that brings something new, in my opinion this one does. Old and new, the modernity of the 20's, the wood of a place where people pay attention to every detail. Woody, grainy, flowers hidden among churned up earth. A marvl

I love this woody floral, a little dark

I just don't understand this one. It almost smells a little bit wet doggy to me for some reason. I barely get the floral... just musty old woods. Very linear and boring to me, sadly. I'll pass.
