Wilde

This is in my opinion is completely unisex. I love it. I love the green aspects and the fruity parts. It's well balanced and beautiful. I love how natural it feels. There is a clean musc in the background. I tried it a couple of times and I think it is hands down full bottle worthy.

A soapy fragrance, it surprises with grapes-notes. Oscar Wilde would have liked that

I received Wilde today and it all started with bad news: 1/3 of the content had spilled since the cap is badly adjusted. It was perfectly sealed so it came like that from the shop. The liquid was all over. I must start by saying: the quality of the general packaging and the sprayer itself is truly bad so be careful and check the sprayer. Now, the scent... well, it smells nice! I think it is worth trying for those men who look for a summer scent which is different but yet easy to wear. It lasts for very long time though it's more of a whisper. I can smell some fig (neither the ripe kind a la Jardin en mediterranée nor the very green one a la Philosykos, this is a rather soft one that smells fruity but elegant and restrained), also a certain flower I can't name and white grapes. Again: don't think this is the over the top fruity scent, it is the opposite. People will notice it on you though and I can't think of a similar scent to give you a better idea, which is a good thing in my book. However don't think of a masterpiece either. At the end of my sampling I had the idea of having experienced something closer to mainstream offerings than niche. I am not crazy for this, I thought it'd be more daring, but I can see myself wearing it all summer long and remembering it kindly after I finish my already wasted bottle. I wouldn't buy again. At home it's garnered some compliments. PS: a last thought, although I'm totally in love with Philosykos and think it's the best fig around, I found it hard to wear as a man and gave it away eventually to a gorgeous girl friend. Here I know I would never need to do so. Wilde is undoubtedly masculine for me. PPS: as time went by I've grown pretty tired of it... there is something artificial about it that deters me from using it more often...

Fragrance in three words: Soapy, Figgy, Green Tea. No surprises for guessing this is inspired by Oscar Wilde. It's a difficult scent to waer, not quite bright enough for summer, not heavy enough for colder months. Maybe a Spring scent? Starts off with a zesty, bright, non-bitter bergamot and grape. Definitely fruity and bright, but this fades quickly. In the middle I get a green tea. Not a bitter one and I get a fairly strong fig note. Fig isn't listed as a note, but it is unmistakable. Dry down is a soapy vetiver with the green tea and sort of a floral clean laundry detergent smell. Price in the UK (April 2021) is £85 for 100ml. Making it on the affordable end of niche. Longevity was around 5 hours on skin. Overall it's a borderline positive. It's solid and interesting, but sort of underwhelming. 6.5 out of 10 Source: 1ml sample

Nice, and although composed of well-known components, it is still a bit different. I think of it as a soapy fig, and it is very good at this little job. I can't imagine it will get a large following, but it's worth a try if you like light green scents, soapy clean scents, and/or a different take on fig.

The grape and fig, slightly sweet, clean and light, are such lovely complements to the green.

oh how i wanted to love this fragrance. the reviewer before me raised my expectations - i was so excited to receive the sample. but wilde terribly disappointed me. definitely not what i expected wilde would smell like and also doesn’t remind me of british grooming set. there’s a blast of fresh bergamot with the very first spray but lasts only a few seconds. after that i just smell synthetic soap all the way down. i don’t mind soapy scents, i actually love fresh smell of shampoo and soaps, but this one brings me a headache. it didn’t go well with my skin chemistry, i couldn't smell anything other than the dizzying soapiness, so i decided to spray it on my shirt and let it sit throughout the night. the entire play was once again ovewhelmingly soapy. in the morning the perfume was still noticeable but definitely weaker. still soapy but once i got used to the faint scent, i could smell something a bit sweeter. not sure if that is the fig or tea note, but it is very pleasant. oh how i wish wilde had more noticeable layers not erased by the soap smell. :( i was ready to smell a 19th century english orangery but got nothing of it. edit sep 2025: after "macerating" my sample for more than two years i slightly changed my mind about this. i like it better and i think it's actually more sweet now and really smells like a luxurious soap. is it a fragrance i would wear? no. but i might add it to my collection when i have nothing else to buy (which is unlikely hahah).

This is super soapy on me; admittedly it smells like French milk soap but if that were the scent I was looking for I'd take a bath. The bergamot and fig are here; the carnation is notionally here (no sharpness though) and I won't argue that the vetiver isn't there. There are enough raves here that I'll assume this is just a body chemistry thing. It's a shame that the juice isn't as interesting as the name. Sillage: moderate, personal Longevity: weak, 1-2 hours Fabulosity: "you're soaking in it" Value to price ratio: meh 2/10

The first time I sampled this I didn't get any of the fruity aspects. Today, I do smell the grape, in a natural respect. Not a soda pop or candy grape. A true, musty grape. Unfortunately, it's not enough to make me like this scent.

So heavy on carnation after one hour. A quite likeable grape note in the opening. Unfortunately, gives me an old lady vibe. Not for me

Fig would normally create a pastoral smellscape of Mediterranean countryside - or, paired with coconuts, light woods and such - a summer vacation daydream. Not the case here. This is British grooming set, dandy but still restrained, 19th century urban, suggesting century-old luxury bath products instead of fresh fruits or anything natural. A found object in an antique shop: a well-preserved gentleman's soap bar in a box. There's the initial burst of ripe greenery when it's opened, a glimpse of freshness you get for some minutes. It's been so amazingly fragrant, invigorating and magical back then; but there's also the photo filter of time, and a little blur. To be honest, this smells like time past. Imagine a library of old books, their smell. Now imagine their pages were made out of grapes and figs. And that's that.

Opens as a fresh soapy scent. I can detect the grapes and the fig. Then it turns into a scent that remains cool and crispy but at the same time reminds me of the heavy pleasant scent smell that you can find in a Greek Orthodox church. The dry down is similar to Rive Gauche but more masculine. It is weird in a nice way, very versatile and unisex. Highly recommended

Grand soapy, musky, with geranium, and petitgrain. This has tea, geranium, petitgrain, musk, and doses of vetiver. It does have some sweetness but more oakmoss and herbals. It's not that impressive and at the same time not bad. Easy to wear for those who likes musk, & vetiver.

Sounds so good on paper, but oh my, what a mess this is. Nothing stands out - no fig, no tea - just a melange of synthetic scents. I had tempted to blind buy a full bottle, but luckily I received a sample on a recent Jovoy order.
