Ombre Bleue L'Original

I'll bite. I was able to obtain a sample of this scent, the OG of which I remember from the eighties. Unlike Ombre Rose which was my sister's signature scent, I'm not certain if I actually smelled this version or whether I just remember being fascinated by the bottle :). In any case I can't really recall the scent. So I haven't smelled the Fleur d'Ombre Bleue version either but I have read the reviews and they are pretty spot on for this iteration as well. Not surprising really because the notes are extremely similar. I wonder if the Fleur version is really just a lighter EDT version of this one, which is an EDP, in the same way that the EDT and EDP versions of Ombre Rose differ pretty much only in concentration as far as I could tell. As to the scent itself - I get an almost shampoo-ey first impression but this quickly transitions to the beachy scent that others have described. Not in a tropical or sunscreen way but really the beach itself - the sand and the ocean, in a warm, sun-kissed way. I do get many of the notes very clearly: the rose, lily of the valley, jasmine, honey and sea notes, dried fruit and sand especially. Unfortunately there is also a waxy or even greasy note at the base that I also smelled in the Ombre The Poudre flanker and in the Ombre Rose L'Original that I find off putting. It's a shame because it kind of ruins the scent for me. I'm going to have to test wear it again to determine if I can ignore it or not.
