Ombre Orientale

Opens with a deep, dark and spicy oud, saffron and pepper. It's a bit of an onslaught for the first 5 minutes, but it's interesting and not at all repellant. The top notes have a urinous quality which dissipates as soon as violet and orange blossom surge upwards in the perfume's heart. Rose is there too, but it's not dominant and there is a sweet berry note peeking through. A warm, amber and woody atmosphere develops after half an hour. This is darkly pungent and charming; a perfume with earthy corruption at it's core, providing a wonderfully spicy depth and underworld knowing. Enormous character. This is one of the more challenging fragrances in my collection. I finally fell in love with it. Then I purchased Fendi Furiosa. They are 80% the same. Both share smokey with a warm amber base. OO is more green, wet, almost dirty or muggy whereas FF has juicy but not tangy or tart opening which last 2-3h. Fendi is better on a cold day, whereas I would only wear OO in heat & humidity. OO is beast mode 9/10

I'm picking up the most delicious thick blackberry in the opening. It doesn't last very long, but is the dominant note on my skin in the beginning.Then the violet tinged rose comes in, as one would expect of a good floral in the mid. Waiting for the drydown, will update.

At first spritz...I get a fruity/saffron/apple...but that is short-lived...as it goes thru it's phases very quickly...in the middle...the floral/spicey vibe...then after to the drydown...I am left with the oud/sandal/patch/amber/orris notes...The other front and middle notes are smoothed out to "linger" underneath the base. You may think at this point I am complaining...LOL...but NO !!!....this all really works for me, and IMHO.The first spritz was a "OMG,no thank you" type reaction...but this scent blend needs to "incorporate" into your chemistry and will release the notes' vibes as it sees fit... This new blind purchase is a pleasant surprise,although not truly unique, due to the fact there are "similar" scents in my wardrobe to this one. Some have a lesser quality,some have better quality...so this one happily sits in the "middle" for me.If I was pressed to answer "what " other scents it smells similar too...???...I would put in in the "family" of....Juicy Couture Majestic Wood, Oscar de la Renta Midnight Amber,Estee Lauder Wood Mystique and even a tad of TF Noir de Noir. Unisex...???....Yes, for sure. The bottle is nice,but in-person looks "less-than" in the photos...No matter!!! I guess this can be considered.."underrated gem" category...IMO.

A unisex fragrance of highest value. Warm, enveloping, sensual, each element is balanced to perfection; oriental with a hint of exotic, modern and original. Very long lasting and heavy sillage. Highly recommended.

this begins with a peppery oud. it's very dry and kind of astringent. there is also something almost floral here, but in a more sour/dry way. not sweet at all. that floral element blooms a lot. a reviewer below mentioned fendi furiosa, and i can totally see the resemblance to a degree, but this is softer and more peppery. i don't know what to think about this one, it's kind of strange and not what i was expecting. certainly not bad, but the floral element is quite odd and unexpected.

This is the perfume that made me realize that I hate warm spicy and patchouli perfume notes. IMO, this is a stinky perfume... BUT if you like theses fragrances, then this will be a great value for you. I smell the leather, earthy, musky, tobacco notes once the top notes wears down. This perfume got me a lot of complements from strangers, and stayed on my clothes AND skin for DAYS.

I get all the saffron and not much of the rest. I'm learning that I dislike saffron in fragrances. This reminds me of the smell of a petting zoo after the animals and their waste have been removed.

I first sampled this scent when it came into our store a couple of weeks ago. Initially, I was a bit overwhelmed by the spicyness and opulent oud of this fragrance. It seemd very classically 'oriental' but with a feminine sweetness. However, after about ten minutes on my skin, it developed into this gorgeous soft and balmy oriental. It lost some of it's initial 'kick' which I had found quite sharp and evolved into a creamy and unusual woody fragrance. It lasts for a very long time on the skin and I could smell it on my jumper when I picked it up the next morning. I can't wait to get hold of a bottle of this for a bit of glamour and exoticism come winter.

I want to be that confident, self-assured woman who I imagine wears this scent, but this is a fragrance I've only built up to wearing twice at home as I find it woody and overwhelming on me. I am determined to grow into it though.

There is something from the glorious 70's and the extreme 80's on that creation... Subtle. Sexy. Surprisingly deep. Kind of an 2010's Opium.. 09/10
