Collection Heritage L'Heure Attendue

I had a hard time finding this one but finally found a new tester bottle and am happy to have it in my collection. As I wear this fragrance and knowing the history of the original's creation it gives me a reverent and almost somber sort of feeling. As I smell it, I feel it sings a soft, gentle and happy song that wants to be louder but doesn't dare just yet. It says better days will come, the sun is peaking through the clouds, and hope has returned. The aldehydes sparkle but only gently, the fruits and florals are sweet but not yet abundant. The dry down smells of the soft earth, and the gentle rain of tears of those that suffered through the long occupation by the Nazi. Tears of sadness, turned to joy that came with a renewed faith in life itself. I know this isn't the original creation and I wish I had been able to smell the original. But knowing the care that Thomas Fontane put into the recreations I can still feel that I am wearing a piece of history. I cannot help but be heartbroken that the house of Jean Patou is no more. The contribution they have made to fragrance history should never be forgotten. Edit 08/24/21 Another thought about this fragrance, With it's history it reminds us that Freedom is fragile. It must be guarded and protected.

In one word, exquisite!! I received a decant from a lovely Fragrantician and now the hunt is on for a full bottle. It's a classic structure but modern enough that I think it appropriate for those 25+. To me, the opopomax is really a true, sweet myrrh that gives this the appearance of being more floral than it is. It doesn't read like a traditional amber on my skin. I can smell the lovely sandalwood, but other than that, it is so well blended that I find it very difficult to break down by notes. It was love at first spritz and throughout it's decent longevity. I can't speak too much about silage since this is based off of one spray, but that one spray can be detected when I move my arm and about 2 feet ahead of me. I am overjoyed to discover this and brokenhearted that it is no longer made now that Patou is lamentably gone. PS - just purchased a 3.4 oz bottle. I'm too afraid that it will disappear forever or command astronomical prices!! EDIT 2/13/23 - I just want to note that like most perfumes shipped by mail, giving it time to sit does amazing things. I loved this from the start, but wearing it today, it is deeper and even more beautiful. I need a backup or two.

I'm wearing this today, and as holds true with do many well made perfumes, it seems to become more achingly beautiful the longer it sits and macerates. I get so much more with fewer spritzes than when I first purchased this in 2023. Back then, this collection could be easily found on the grey market and eBay for very reasonable prices, well under $100. I checked eBay recently, and they were going for as much as $300!! I noticed the same with my collection of black bottle Keiko Mecheri. I purchased almost all of them for $50. Now they are being sold for anywhere from $125 to over $200! I am happy and lucky that I made these purchases when I did, because the prices of everything, including designer fragrances have exploded, in all markets. I've taken to purchasing decants because my collection is so big, and even those have gone up. I know this id a review for L'Heure Attendue, and if you scroll down you will see that I gave it a more complete breakdown there. I really just wanted to express how it has improved over time, but felt that the price increase in perfume in general have made this a very costly hobby!

Not the original (never experienced) but bought because of the history (a wonderful story) and the reviews. Chypre base alongside florals and sandalwood. A soupcon of sweetness. Very classical, beautiful, Rochas Femme without the cumin, Shalimar without the dusty books, Chypre Siam without the Lime leaves. Now who might wear this: a confident, well dressed, professional lady who likes being with people, and they like being with her. The opposite of joggers and hoody, fussiness or frumpiness. Not a sexy perfume but grown up and 'knowing'. Mind you I don't fit any of this and wear for my own pure pleasure! Wonderful stuff. 4/5

Loosely based on the vintage from 1949. It still retains the spirit of a sobering freedom hard fought from ww2. Its unisex, opens slightly masculine but once the heart opens a gorgeous peach/rose/jasmine on a bed of powder making it plush. The base notes give it an earthy grounding. First time I wore it I got a compliment. This is a beautiful fragrance with reverence, and gravitas. I read an article that the perfumer Thomas Fontaine wears this scent. Its superbly done.

If you love Coromandel you’ll probably love this . Not the “same” but has that opulence. A lacquered panelled room filled with orchids and white rugs / sofas with a mysterious dark haired stranger stood by the window... Highly overlooked in my opinion and now that it’s completely discontinued along with all Jean Patou definitely worth picking up whilst still affordable.

I bought it. The top is nectary aldehydic perfection. More to come. Note, an eBay seller in London is selling a chunk of the Fontaine collection for around £50 the bottle. I didn't buy from there so this isn't an endorsement just a tip for those looking for the dwindling supply.

I'm jonesing to buy one of the remaining closeout bottles, which have finally fallen in price to around 60E. Maybe if you all would snap them up I won't be able to, and my fragrance armoires will sigh in relief.

Words fail me... The most perfect sandalwood. Longevity is between 6-8 hours. It might feel less because it gradually becomes a skin scent, but the aura is still there.

This is an incredibly sophisticated and grandiose scent from a bygone era. My favorite from the Collection Heritage series. Ylang ylang is at its most beautiful here.

Christ, it SUCKS that Patou perfumes are now discontinued. Buy up what you can!

I think I love Thomas Fontaine.

This would be fabulous if the sandalwood was toned down a little (ok so I am not a fan of synthetic sandalwood bases - and given the scarcity and price of natural sandalwood the great majority of them are synthetic). The top and mid sections of the fragrance are lovely. Delicious almost juicy top arising from the tangerine and lovely heart of mainly jasmine and rose. Well blended. But the darn sandalwood..still, a quality fragrance. PS. Definitely NOT spicy and not particularly ambery - who wrote the intro? This is a juicy tangerine & floral on sandalwood

What a waste of money. I don't care what the snob fans will say and if they vote down my comment. This collection is weak and poorly executed. In fact, this whole collection killed the brand altogether. Don't pay for cologne people! Don't be stupid!

The whole collection explains why the brand died. Unremarkable, weak, overpriced wannabe-art, but only delivering bland cologne. I hate myself for buying this. RIP Jean Patou

In testing this beautiful sample, I had no notion of whether the fragrance was old or new, French or otherwise. But I immediately liked what I was smelling! And now that I see the house and the history, it all makes excellent sense! And aldehydic and soapy opening leads to florals and a powdery base, which all SEEM old fashioned, if it were not for the use of some aroma chemicals (my nose suspects!) are modern. A remake of a classic done absolutely right, as I could not tell whether I was smelling a new-old scent or an old-new one! Delightful for any aldehyde lover. <3

This is such a gorgeous fragrance that begins in such a soft and powdery way but dries down to a subtle yet earthy sexiness that is quite surprising. I love it because it is not the typical Patou that tends towards a gourmand feeling but instead is fresh, powdery, earthy and floral all rolled up in a classy and classical fragrance. Beautiful and well worth a full bottle of delight!
