Collection Heritage Patou Pour Homme

I would like simply to review this as a stand-alone perfume, i.e. I would like to avoid comparisons with what came before. Whether it was wise to name the Heritage line after legends of the past, or not, I leave that to others (in hindsight it wasn't). But, the Heritage line was developed with the approval of Kerleo, and Fontaine is admittedly a great Nose. So, putting everything aside, my personal view is that this is in fact an excellent cologne/fougere. Even though sillage is discreet, longevity is quite strong (I get more than 7-8 hours). In very broad terms, it starts off with a superb bergamot note (which remains strong for a good few hours-this in itself is rare enough), and then joined by a beautifully aromatic lavender (the type you'd find in Ma Liberte). Bergamot and Lavender blend together as they enter drydown, which is a smooth amber-patch combo. There is no leather and no ambergris; they are erroneously included on the list here.

I found at last my fragrance with Patou pour Homme. It is absolutely masculine elegant and rich Many people around felt in love with it too. And believe me the effect on women is just amazing. My wife can't stop smelling it. It just smell different than the rest of the market and it is GREAT!!!

Rather pleasant but a bit strong when sprayed on skin. The top notes are interesting on the blotter but they disappeared in something incongruous that is both aromatic and spicy, and woody, and dry and powdery... It lacks a bit elegance. And I think the concentration should have been a little less intense to create a certain vibrancy. I don't know the original but this one reminds me of Xeryus... and Lacoste Original to some extent.

I'm trying it right now... I should wear it properly but right now I'm far from blown away by it. I haven't smelled the original, this one has an obvious old school feeling, it's correct but it's not that different that many other 80's great frags that can be found quite cheap. If I had to choose between this one and Derby, i'd take the Guerlain anytime.

This reform'd version of the classic 1980 is a shame. Should have stayed with the original instead of this cheapy cheap stuff. If you want to smell like some rotted citrus, go for this. All I got from this reform was a sour citrus, bergamot, galbanum and lemon only. No tarragon, no jasmine nor leather detected, only a very sour composition, not worth any cost.

Normally I would post a long review of a scent, however, I am going to keep this one short. This is garbage. I unfortunately blind bought this scent at full retail price and the bottle has sat unused on my counter for the past 2 years. Do not buy this. Overall scent: 1/10 Longevity: 7/10 Sillage: 7/10 Adjectives: Bitter, sour, pungent, unpleasant.

Never smelt the original. This is just terrible. I don't understand why they would have bothered to relaunch it and make something so putrid. On reading the notes of the original I can tell that this composition has nothing to do with it.

Lol, the new Heritage Collection Jean Patou Pour Homme is being ripped to shreds in the Fragrantica page reviews. According to the majority, especially those who are familiar with the 1980 OG, perfumer Thomas Fontain and the Jean Patou brand should be ashamed of themselves. I'm not familiar with the vintage OG, but I just received a decant of the Heritage Collection version and am wearing it in the drydown now. Like one reviewer wrote, "sour citrus, bergamot, galbanum and lemon only". "Its garbage". Can't disagree. But I also agree with the other 11 reviewers who rate the longevity "very weak". Its certainly not very good on it's own, as a stand-alone fragrance. Everything is subjective, but what gets me is that a brand and perfumer would actually have the gaul to purposely not even try to recreate the scent profile of the original as faithfully as possible. And by all accounts it's much different. And to add it to something called the "Heritage Collection". Doesn't the Jean Patou brand respect itself? Shame on them. I'll probably never experience the 1980 OG. So my best of 1980, Floris Elite, will remain my favorite for that year.

Why releasing this worthless version? Has nothing in common with the original Patou pour Homme! This current version is a joke! Why they had to alter the original formula? Anyway this version has no right to be called Patou pour Homme! Shame on you for having killed Patou pour Homme Original! And you can't fool us by this crap!🤔 Patou pour Homme Original is a true masterpiece❤️

Alright, I don't normally make a post on a fragrance unless it's a review, but let me just say something: Of course Patou Pour Homme, at least the new stuff, isn't gonna smell like the original. The original Patou Pour Homme is a unique, one-of-a-kind fragrance that I'd say is about 75% blending and artistry (Jean Kerleo is a genius) and the other 25% is the materials. So, not only does the new stuff not have certain materials, due to allergy restrictions and certain things not being available anymore, but also Kerleo isn't the one doing it. However, if Monsieur Fontaine is smart enough, then he hopefully consulted Kerleo for his blessings for doing this. It takes some serious balls to remake Patou Pour Homme. Expectations are gonna be high... ...and, as such, I'll expect this to not be as good as the original, but hopefully it will preserve the "spirit" of the original, maybe even adding some new notes and (GASP!) making Patou Pour Homme more "accessible", so that even younger people can wear it. It's weird enough that I'm a twenty year-old babyfaced adolescent and yet Patou Pour Homme is my favorite fragrance. It is a fragrance that speaks of experience, wisdom, and, most importantly, another time. The original would not be "trendy" these days. But Patou Pour Homme is being relaunched for a reason. The hype and cult following developed over time, and the folks at Patou listened. I'm sure they know that Patou Pour Homme is (was) a unique masterpiece that would need a SERIOUSLY talented nose to replicate accurately; I'm sure they did their best. And even if it ends up sucking, just remember - don't think of it as a resurrection so much as a reincarnation. I look forward to trying this!

Of the all time great masculines, many survive in some functional form today. Habit Rouge is cleaner than it was. Egoiste is recognizable and lovely, but a lot more transparent. Derby’s relaunch was a massive success and while it wasn’t identical, it was a delight. New York Intense has made up for the weakening of New York. Even recent hugely popular launches have mostly been weakened, like Terre d’Hermes, Dior Homme and YSL’s La Nuit. They still smell the same. I write all of that to say that while I’m not an expert, I’m certainly experienced, and forgiving of the realities of fragrance under the incompetence of the IFRA and the changing tastes of the masses. I’ve smelled the original Patou pour homme and consider it probably the greatest men’s fragrance ever made. The rerelease of Patou pour homme is a disgrace. It smells nothing like the original. It does not smell good anyway. It has already been discontinued and is available for 80% off at discounters, while the original in sealed form goes for over a thousand dollars per bottle. There was no reason for this to exist other than a cash grab aimed at the ignorant. I’ll be mailing my bottle to a randomly selected enemy, and I hope they wear it so that people will know just how terrible of a person they are. Overall: 0/10

Discloser here, I never smelled the original. I just got into perfume collecting during covid and I understand many below really miss the original. I respect that and sympathize because it is horrible when your favorite fragrances get changed for whatever reasons. That being said my husband and I really like this version of the fragrance. It is well blended and crafted w/ care. Lemon is dominate in the opening but that tames down and the rest of the notes start to fall and and create a beautifully blended classic masculine cologne. My husband doesn't wear fragrance often so we only bought a travel size decant but this fragrance wears well and is a good value.

There isn’t much to write as the scent is almost non existing and not worthy of a review but I ought to say that Jean Patou is now dead for me until they come up with another masculine scent and fix this shambles. Do not blind buy this. I’m quite pissed that this is the first time I’m writing a review not because I’m mesmerised by the scent but to warn others about it. Well done Jean Patou - what a disappointment...

Wow....the legend is re-introduce!! Never had any chance to smell the original one, it is so rare...it feels like a myth for me. Hopefully the greatness of the scent (many people say) will be preserved in the newer version, although we may start our hope as low as possible, so when we found it slaughtered (to meet the IFRA regulations), we ignore it, search for the vintage one and carry on with our lives. LOL!

I wish that other particular favorites of mine: Mitsouko. Bandit, Chanel Russia Leather, Fracas... survived as nearly intact as this one under the censorship of European Union "sensitivity" proscriptions. This is beautifully balanced, rich and recognizable to a veteran as Jean Patou Pour Homme. It's what I wear when I'm not wearing (Bond No.9) New York Nights, (Nicolai) Cuir Cuba, or(Tauer) Lonestar Memories.

My only hope is that this can come close to the original, and that Jean Patou can do for JPPH what Guerlain did for Derby....make a very competent rendition of a one of a kind fragrance. If this even comes in the vicinity of the original I believe it will be a success. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Should it fail, ELd'O's Je Suis un Homme is always an excellent alternative.

I had the chance to try the new creation and 1. it ́s not as strong as the original 2. they don ́t smell similar. This is a vegetarian Patou. It ́s just ok, but doesn ́t resemble the original one. Where are all those animalic notes at? Sorry I forgot, IFRA and Greepeace.

It’s funny reading all these reviews spewing hate towards the reformulation of “what once was”... people don’t realize that half of the notes introduced in the 70-90s have been banned. So yea.. you are not going to get an exact recreation of what you remember.

Stuff is expensive but for the price it sure doesn't last long or give any sillage...did I mention its nothing like the original either!

why every one dislike this fragrance ? I tried it and it smell amazing
