Joy Collector Edition Eau de Parfum

I have loved Joy since the '70s. For me it was an aspirational fragrance, I had just turned 20 and although it was a little heavy for someone of my age, and in a warm climate, I longed for it. I was dating (friendly, not amorous necessarily) three different gentlemen in 1980 and received three bottles of Joy for Christmas, two parfums in a small glass rounded bottle with a gold top, and one in the black bottle. To me, wearing Joy was like gilding oneself with liquid gold. Huge sillage, deep dark amber of tuberose and heady rose attar (Bulgarian rose). There's nothing like it. The newer versions of the original Joy are still lovely, without the intensity of the original, and one can never say "this perfume reminds me of....". Joy is a stand alone, other fragrances may remind one of an element of Joy, but Joy is the first, the original, the mother lode.

To me, this is a dark, sexy ugly kind of perfume. If this fragrance were to evoke any sentiment of joy, it's a frenzied, destructive kind of joy. Like an illegal rave at a dilapidated Art Deco warehouse in an industrial estate south of the river. Everyone seems nicely dressed, yet the vinyl floor (chequered? It's hard to see in this lighting) seems a little grimy. Everyone is smoking, and there's a queue of people waiting for the bathroom. In terms of songs, I actually think of two: 'Jade Stones' by System Olympia, and 'Snake' by Acid Washed (feat Barbara Panther). I like white florals, and I think Joy is spectacular. In terms of wearability, I think that this is a little too heavy for the day. I would, however, wear this out in the evening. By today's standards, definitely unisex.

I bought this on eBay and was imagining it would be fake. But for $50 I gave it a try. I was delighted that it was delivered in about 2 weeks. And even more delighted when I opened it and realized it's exactly as I remember Joy Perfume from many decades ago. One of my favorites when I was a young woman - and lovely now to have the fragrance take me back to those long lost years...scents do that, you know.

I got the black bottle mini edp after already loving the edt version and now I have them both on at once and love them both! They are the same fragrance, the edp is just stronger. As it should be.

I saw this perfume on the set of Le Dîner de Cons (1998) and I had to buy it. So feminine, very Christine Brochant.

I like the ylang-ylang, of which I sometimes use the essential oil on me, as well as in the house diffuser, here its aura is reinforced by the tuberose and the jasmine. All slightly softened by sandalwood and musk. This is a heavy scent that will not suit everyone. The development of the perfume begins slowly and it is only after 2 hours that the scented notes are balanced so that they are pleasant to tasty. The advice is to use it little because the smell carries far and very strong at the beginning. It is a perfume that must be learned to love but which is not suitable for people who love light odors of flowers and fruits, completely outside the current trend. This perfume will be appreciable by cold season, therefore to avoid in the middle of summer. Very beautiful collector's punch out in 2015 inspired by the personal collection of Chinese snatches of Jean Patou in 1932, in Chinese jade which will serve as a model for bottles with curved curves of the bottle, in a deep black, surmounted by a red dome -shaped cap. All surrounded by a gold thread, a must.

I have loved Joy all my life. In the 1970s, a man brought me back this dark bottle of Joy perfume, with the red cap. I still have it although I don't think there is much Juice left. I usually leave a drop or two for sentiment. I bought two more as well as the glass bottles over the years. So the dates that says this is a 2015 collectors item are incorrect. In fact, I'm pretty certain that the only one I may have bought in 2015 is the glass one. But I have three of them, two small and a large, which is still nearly full but which has turned on me, or my love has changed, I can't decide.

It does smell richer than the main market run of Joy EDP from the 2010s. The gold and clear glass bottle, which is fine, too. But for not much more money you can get this, where care was taken. This is 10 years old. And blended well after IFRA restrictions were hallowing out our classic perfumes. Bravo. Nothing today smell like this. Maybe 10 year old Amouage Gold Man, kinda, from the 2010's.

Uninspired bottle. I don t see any joy in it and the fonts are really ugly. Joy is Joy only in the original bottle...anything else it s just a marketing failure.

Now I see, my mistake. Even I like the most the modern version of the bottle, if this is the original, no comment! Thank you guys.
