Joy Forever Eau de Toilette

This is a sunny, clear fragrance that is currently my signature scent. The top mandarin and the carnation heart are especially interesting to me. Carnation is such a simple, cheap, unextraordinary little flower with quite an extraordinary scent. We don't give it the credit it deserves. The last time most of us were anywhere near a carnation would have been our senior proms. And THAT, that memory, is what makes the scent of carnation so special for so many people. I think finally weaving it into a high end perfume is a stroke of nostalgic genius. This is a daytime scent. It's great for the office because it clings close to the skin, just strong enough to say a polite hello without poking its nose where it's not wanted. However, this same close, intimate fragrance chemistry is simply fantastic for an intimate dinner with that certain someone. This perfume is unobtrusive enough to be enjoyed by the person whose nose is currently buried in your neck. It is sunshiny enough for the daytime but is capable of being dressed down for evening wear. A suggestion however.. Don't buy the Eau de toilette. It's pleasant enough but nowhere near as beautiful as the Parfum. Spend the extra money. You'll be much happier.

Joy Forever edt review Updating the iconic Joy fragrance is a risky thing to do. I do think if one isnt used to classic fragrances and their structure- it can be overwhelming or foreign to the younger generations brought up after the 1994 Angel gourmand revolution. The genius of this fragrance is we are indulged once again with a symphonic complex structure yet arranged and executed in a modern way. Infact its like a classically cut chiffon dress updated with technology built in the fabric. Its fresh, great blending as usual from Patou and a great choice for an every day scent that is different from the current marketplace. Elegance, approchable, easy to wear Patou. I dare say this should be your first stop with Patou house or the newly formulated Sublime. It just works with my chemistry. Quality buy. Not for everyone.

I have made the mistake many newbies make in fragrance world. I chose my signature scent--quite full of hubris I might add. And not that Hermes 24 Faubourg is not a great scent and it is but when I spritzed this on, I was in love. This sniffer chose me and I will never doubt or second guess shelling out a great deal of money for this. White florals mixed with rose and to me a bit of soapiness. It has lasted all day in the humid and hot Georgia summer.

I have owned Joy Forever EDP for quite a while now. At first, I wasn't that thrilled w/ the mini I purchased. I thought Joy Forever was too nice, a tad boring and a bit forgettable. A funny thing happened over time w/ my little mini bottle of Joy Forever, she kept calling my name, she kept saying, if you give me a chance you will grow to like me very much, I will not let you down. And my "meh" went to a very strong like, and Joy Forever EDP became something I reach for a lot. And I bought 2 bottles of the edp. She has become a very good friend, who is calming, easygoing but still classy and polished. She never lets me down. She is a just fresh out of the shower type of perfume but done in a much more sophisticated way. Something that this 20th century woman was not used to in a perfume but now I find that I like very much if it is executed right and Joy Forever in the EDP and EDT versions does just that. I decided to try the EDT version of Joy Forever to see if there was any great differences and I find the EDT version is quite similar to the EDP version. The EDT is a bit brighter in the opening, more bergamot, less mandarin sweetness. The heart is less balsamic, less powdery and much lighter. And the dry down is heavier on the white cedar w/ a lot less sandalwood. I think the EDP version is a year-round fragrance, and the EDT version is a lighter, worn on a hot summer day version of this perfume. Both are very pretty, musky, woody citrus rose/jasmine fragrances w/ a sweet apricot touch. Very clean, very polished, very likeable. It is insane how cheap you can still get the EDP and EDT version of this perfume. If you want a fresh out of the shower clean smell that has a bit more going on upon further inspection, Give Joy Forever edp or edt a try. Can still be bought for very little on the grey market.

This is a dream: a deft, fruity floral musk, that makes room for many beautiful gestures, and even makes room for a wise and restrained oriental-style fragrance underneath. The elements dance together sympathetically. They know each other well, and no exaggeration is required. The happy jasmine-and-galbanum relationship found in the edp and mentioned by Lotte_Liese is also here, which I love. Apricot takes a little more attention, though, after the opening, and at times can become too "fleshy" for me. I want to get more orange blossom, maybe yet still... but it's not a problem! Joy Forever has a nice, dry sandalwood, giving reassurance, which seems spiced, maybe with iris and carnation? Cedar also is nice here, not overbearing. Overall, a dream, and I'm so pleased to have this available to inspire and cheer me.

I remember smelling this at a perfume counter several years ago and liking it. So when I heard Jean Patou was no longer in production, I decided to purchase this from a gray market site. The bergamot is more dominant on my skin than I expected or would have liked but overall, it's an effervescent, easy-going fragrance that will probably shine more in warmer weather, rather than on a dreary January day. Slightly reminiscent of Jour d'Hermes with the dominant citrus notes supported by white florals. I usually prefer the opposite (heavier on white florals than citrus) but it's still enjoyable.

Joy Forever Eau de Toilette by Jean Patou is a rose-infused musk that ends up being safe, soapy, and forgettable. This flanker exhibits a bright, pretty rose similar to the one found in the original Joy, but it lacks anything of interest that would set it apart from other contemporary rose fragrances. So, here we have a generic rose with a formidable price tag. The bottle is pretty and the performance is decent for an EDT, but I’m still not persuaded. I can think of other rose-infused musks that smell better and cost less, for example, Chloe EDP and flankers, Musc Intense by Nicolai Parfumeur Createur, and Narciso Rodriguez for Her Eau de Parfum. 2/5

I bought this by mistake thinking it was the EDP (peach and marigold notes comparable to 90s classics like Valentino Vendetta) whereas this is quite a sweet rosy soapy scent with a powdery spiced apricot accord. Not unlike Tresor, Charlie Gold or Diamonds And Rubies but earthier and more soapy than these. Very nice for a modern scent but nothing that wows me so I will pass it along to a loving home.

Happiness in a bottle. The only fragrance that is more instantly joyous for me is Poeme, and I'm not even trying to compare the two. Simply the immediate feeling of joy and happiness and springtime pleasure this perfect little floral signifies to me.... Yes, for that is what she is - at least for this soapy and floral vintage lover. Perfect. <3
