Patou Pour Homme Prive

I have the aftershave balm of this and assume it is a lighter scent of the original patou pour homme prive. I just bought my second aftershave balm because its a very unique and beautiful fragrance... i cant tell if i like this more than Patou Pour homme, but its definitely very beautiful and well rounded. It is very similar to ma liberte, but a bit more masculine. When first applied The shave balm smells a bit lotiony at first but in 30-60 minutes that goes away and just the sweetest (not in an overbearing way) and masterfully well blended scent comes out. I get warm, comforting light spicy and slightly creamy notes.. This lasts on my skin for a good 6 hours, maybe more. Is the fragrance worth the 1000 bucks on ebay, I can't answer that, but the shave balm for 50 bucks is absolutely worth it and i will be buying my third one very soon.

I'm convinced Prive is exactly the same fragrance as Ma Liberte; that's not a criticism, as I love it. I'm just sure it's exactly the same thing. When Ma Liberte was released, it would probably have been considered too sweet and soft for a masculine fragrance. However, definitely not today. The notes listed are very different from the way Prive develops on me: it is dominated by berries and vanilla, with subtle wood and spicy notes. As with most Patou fragrances, I find it so complex, many individual notes are difficult to identify.

Classic, perfectly executed, floral fougere. Soft notes of lavender/rose/iris/jasmine at the top, with a follow up of tons of coumarin/hay and green notes, finished off by a great, oak-mossy, vetiver, patchouli with a hint of vanilla/amber. Understated and not at all bold or assertive like Patou PH. A throwback to classic form done with a perfectionist's obsession for quality.

Simply one of the best men's fragrances ever created. Sets the standard for aromatic fougeres in general.

It's so good, im afraid to wear it. I don't want to run out of this magnificent cologne.

Great... but not as exceptional as the reviews suggest imo. Super classic scent. Very much reminds me of the smell of my father’s generation+ (baby boomers & the greatest generation). Rave reviews here made me blind buy it.. at a premium. I can’t say I don’t like it but I would not have paid $6/ml if I had smelled it before. Very nice scent but not incredibly unique. Barbershop vibe and not dissimilar to a more typical men’s after shave scent. There are things that are similar on the shelf at your local drug store for $35 a bottle. (I suppose originally copies of this scent many moons ago but none-the-less) A true classic scent but I won’t be repurchasing. I wouldve rather spent this money on Byredo Sunday Cologne if this was the vibe I was going for and wanted to throw money around,

Created for more successful, more elegant and happier times than the early '20s! This scent's lavender tempers its citrus top notes charismatically, whilst the rounding of the hay and vanilla basal notes brazenly suggests that class and elegance is nothing to be bashful about. Modern noses should not feel nervous, insecure and unworthy of this scent, but the scent is better worn when earnt and not just bought. Similarly, the folks at Caron recently brought out L'eau pour homme which offered millennials a glimpse of such lofty ambition, possibly doffing its cap to Prive on the way, but, as with Prive, sales waned in the early '20s and it was hooked. A more ambitious, successful 2024 and 2nd half of decade could see us indulge in greater things again again. If so, Prive will have a role to play again in the world of fine fragrances.

What a stunner!! None of the Gentleman conservative of it's older brother. Here we have life in Technicolor. Big, bold, Fireworks display of perfectly blended, quality ingredients. Rich with bright flavour. My reaction to it is somewhat the same as to First Growth Sauternes. Just as the sugar threatens to cloy, it is incised by a fruit fragrant acid, light tannin and a touch of dry Hay. This, is, a big, big fragrance of finesse and exquisite beauty. Solid unisex cleanliness and still way, way, sexy!

A masterpiece of minimalism and earthy appeal. Surprisingly not typically Parisian but undeniably French. The elegance of its bottle design should intimidate and encourage most men to choose some other, especially as it would seem to convey quintessential Parisian singleness of mind. I love its mysterious simplicity and audacious authenticity. A masterpiece of earthy appeal!

Owning both original Homme and Homme Prive... I can say that Prive version it is the hippie, bohemian, psychedelics enthusiast brother while the original Homme it is more sober, down to earth, english blends smoker.

Gorgeous base and sillage, but it definitely smells dated the closer you get to it. One of the strongest coumarin notes I've ever smelled. Fans of vintage will love the powdery, mossy base.

This is a lush, sexy, sophisticated man's scent. I will weep man tears when I empty my second bottle. It needs to be brought back.
