I almost (arrogantly) overlooked this potential gem, had it on a paper strip in the pocket of my jacket, but had forgotten about it. In fact, I thought I threw it away because it didn't impress me at all—it smelled like any other designer flanker. I sprayed another fragrance (Guerlain LHI Parfum) on my wrist instead, which seemed much more interesting (at first). Then, everywhere I went, there was that nice smell grasping for my attention! I checked the fragrance on my wrist, which still smelled nice, but it didn't match what I was getting; my clothes... No match... which was very strange because although that sillage was coming randomly, the smell was consistent and independent of where I was. I sadly came to the conclusion that it must be a mix of multiple fragrances – the one on my wrist, the other one I put on when leaving for work in the morning, maybe another one from days ago on my jacket (I skip the part where I followed someone in the supermarket to rule that one out...). Fast forward. I finally found that paper strip in my pocket! I was about to write that I was still puzzled why this scent captivates my neurons so much (it still does) and why I like it, but I just realized that it reminds me of the jasmine in Amouage Reflection, which I'm sure is what got me hooked all day long! Other than that, I get coconut notes from the get-go, but although it reminds me of Le Beau, it is far more subtle and balanced and, to my nose, much more pleasant than Le Beau (which I don't like on myself at all because of it). It's like they took some DNA from Le Beau and Scandal, blended it with beautiful creamy vanilla, and added that intriguing jasmine on top! I'm so happy I didn't throw that strip away! I obviously have to try it on my skin... Until then, I will be praying to God that it won't disappoint (and I'm agnostic, so that must mean something...).

Why all the hate? Are people just salty that JPG got two spots on the 2023 top three male perfumes of the year? Or because Jean Paul is gay himself? People who can't just use their noses to give their opinion on how a perfume smells like should not be using this website, seriously, what are you guys, 12 years old? Anyways, the perfume has just the right amount of sweetness for me, not too much but not too little. If I had to compare this to a fragrance, I would say it's a lighter more fresher version of Gaultier^2, that's the sort of scent profile I'm getting out of this, and strangely enough, I'm picking up a couple hints of Phlur Missing Person. Overall, I love the opening, I love the dry down, this is the kind of scent profile I am familiar with, and therefore, I like it a lot. 9/10 Edit: For context, when the fragrance is announced, people are allowed to vote when the fragrance isn't even out to the public yet, when it's not even in the hands of anybody, and if you have some decency, you don't vote if you haven't smelled it, however trolls ruin the polls for the ones that actually want to know what this smells like, and for those trying to give out their honest opinion. I found a way to get my hands on a bottle of this stuff before it becomes available in the US, so I am giving my opinion for those who want to know what to expect, and what this smells like.

After wearing this for a few times around and about, I can say that this is a genuinely good release from JPG. The first thing that hits you when you spray it on is that sweet, decadent vanilla, heavily reminds me of those sweet butter cookies, almost gourmand type sweetness that then slowly subsides and gets replaced with a strong, almost ozonic freshness from the other botanicals. It's really well blended, but that's just the start. After the initial burst of aromatic goodness, the whole thing becomes more than part of its sum. It's got that classic JPG swagger base, layered with a very fresh gourmand. That switches between the butter cookie vanilla, the fresh spiciness of pepper and lime, and then back to the ambergris and sea notes. Honestly, I genuinely believe you could wear this all year round, as the scent does change dramatically depending on what temperature it is. The drydown does remind me of Scandal a bit, but very toned down, and with way more of that gourmand vanilla. While still retaining that slight stank from Ambergris. It's definitely worth a try if you're a fan of JPG's perfumes, and if you're not, this might be a very good introduction to the house. Overall, a very good release, while not groundbreaking or exceptionally new with what it does, it's still a great addition to the line.

Absolutely gorgeous scent! Love this!! So different on skin to paper strip.... You have to try on skin.... Very wet to start but dries down quickly. Initially smells like Piz Buin suncream with a coconut/vanilla creaminess coming through. After 5 mins or so you get the soft spicy pepper and a slightly powdery fruit note. I don’t really notice the salty/fresh smell on my skin but on the paper tester it was very pronounced. It doesn’t project too far and longevity is around 6 hours so definitely no BEAST. The amber and lime only show up if you really hunt for them after a couple of hours. Overall the long term scent is sweet coconut vanilla with a peppery spice in the background. I really wish it had a hint of mint like the original LM had but otherwise I’m really pleased with the scent. ****Edit**** This improved hugely over time, from first use then over a couple of months of occasional use I really noticed it perform better and better, smoother and more stable. Once dried down it gives 4-5 hours of lush, spicy vanilla with a warm soft freshness to the base.
