I almost (arrogantly) overlooked this potential gem, had it on a paper strip in the pocket of my jacket, but had forgotten about it. In fact, I thought I threw it away because it didn't impress me at all—it smelled like any other designer flanker. I sprayed another fragrance (Guerlain LHI Parfum) on my wrist instead, which seemed much more interesting (at first). Then, everywhere I went, there was that nice smell grasping for my attention! I checked the fragrance on my wrist, which still smelled nice, but it didn't match what I was getting; my clothes... No match... which was very strange because although that sillage was coming randomly, the smell was consistent and independent of where I was. I sadly came to the conclusion that it must be a mix of multiple fragrances – the one on my wrist, the other one I put on when leaving for work in the morning, maybe another one from days ago on my jacket (I skip the part where I followed someone in the supermarket to rule that one out...). Fast forward. I finally found that paper strip in my pocket! I was about to write that I was still puzzled why this scent captivates my neurons so much (it still does) and why I like it, but I just realized that it reminds me of the jasmine in Amouage Reflection, which I'm sure is what got me hooked all day long! Other than that, I get coconut notes from the get-go, but although it reminds me of Le Beau, it is far more subtle and balanced and, to my nose, much more pleasant than Le Beau (which I don't like on myself at all because of it). It's like they took some DNA from Le Beau and Scandal, blended it with beautiful creamy vanilla, and added that intriguing jasmine on top! I'm so happy I didn't throw that strip away! I obviously have to try it on my skin... Until then, I will be praying to God that it won't disappoint (and I'm agnostic, so that must mean something...).

Why all the hate? Are people just salty that JPG got two spots on the 2023 top three male perfumes of the year? Or because Jean Paul is gay himself? People who can't just use their noses to give their opinion on how a perfume smells like should not be using this website, seriously, what are you guys, 12 years old? Anyways, the perfume has just the right amount of sweetness for me, not too much but not too little. If I had to compare this to a fragrance, I would say it's a lighter more fresher version of Gaultier^2, that's the sort of scent profile I'm getting out of this, and strangely enough, I'm picking up a couple hints of Phlur Missing Person. Overall, I love the opening, I love the dry down, this is the kind of scent profile I am familiar with, and therefore, I like it a lot. 9/10 Edit: For context, when the fragrance is announced, people are allowed to vote when the fragrance isn't even out to the public yet, when it's not even in the hands of anybody, and if you have some decency, you don't vote if you haven't smelled it, however trolls ruin the polls for the ones that actually want to know what this smells like, and for those trying to give out their honest opinion. I found a way to get my hands on a bottle of this stuff before it becomes available in the US, so I am giving my opinion for those who want to know what to expect, and what this smells like.

After wearing this for a few times around and about, I can say that this is a genuinely good release from JPG. The first thing that hits you when you spray it on is that sweet, decadent vanilla, heavily reminds me of those sweet butter cookies, almost gourmand type sweetness that then slowly subsides and gets replaced with a strong, almost ozonic freshness from the other botanicals. It's really well blended, but that's just the start. After the initial burst of aromatic goodness, the whole thing becomes more than part of its sum. It's got that classic JPG swagger base, layered with a very fresh gourmand. That switches between the butter cookie vanilla, the fresh spiciness of pepper and lime, and then back to the ambergris and sea notes. Honestly, I genuinely believe you could wear this all year round, as the scent does change dramatically depending on what temperature it is. The drydown does remind me of Scandal a bit, but very toned down, and with way more of that gourmand vanilla. While still retaining that slight stank from Ambergris. It's definitely worth a try if you're a fan of JPG's perfumes, and if you're not, this might be a very good introduction to the house. Overall, a very good release, while not groundbreaking or exceptionally new with what it does, it's still a great addition to the line.

Absolutely gorgeous scent! Love this!! So different on skin to paper strip.... You have to try on skin.... Very wet to start but dries down quickly. Initially smells like Piz Buin suncream with a coconut/vanilla creaminess coming through. After 5 mins or so you get the soft spicy pepper and a slightly powdery fruit note. I don’t really notice the salty/fresh smell on my skin but on the paper tester it was very pronounced. It doesn’t project too far and longevity is around 6 hours so definitely no BEAST. The amber and lime only show up if you really hunt for them after a couple of hours. Overall the long term scent is sweet coconut vanilla with a peppery spice in the background. I really wish it had a hint of mint like the original LM had but otherwise I’m really pleased with the scent. ****Edit**** This improved hugely over time, from first use then over a couple of months of occasional use I really noticed it perform better and better, smoother and more stable. Once dried down it gives 4-5 hours of lush, spicy vanilla with a warm soft freshness to the base.

I dont know what all others are yapping about but without expecting anything amazing or a 10/10 fragrance, you will be surprised with this scent . I recently smelt this fragrance and purchased it and i can tell you straight away that it was higher than my expectations. The opening is amazing and the dry down is also very nice. It has a nice Vanilla, Peppery and powdery scent and i can even smell some peppermint in it. The longevity was about 7-10 hours on my skin and the sillage was great for 4 hours. Its a perfect everyday day fragrance especially for summer and I recommend this to people who like sweet minty scents. Many people hate on this fragrance just because they expect this to be the next “best jpg summer fragrance ” and they dont get the same dna as from the other jpg summer fragrances. At this moment i would tell it’s underrated. Everyone has their own opinion but i can tell for sure this scent isnt as bad as people tell it is, so dont just listen to them.

The more I wear it the less coconutty it smells. On paper, this smells like a lighter version of Le Male Le Parfum. On my skin it smells less like that and a lot sweeter. Less peppery and more vanilla. Definitely try it out on your skin before you buy it. Overall it's nothing groundbreaking but a nice and pleasant scent for people that want to smell good and not offend anyone. Le Male Lover is very smooth and creamy, like all the Le Male. Longevity is really good. I get 8 hours easily before it gets a skin scent and you can smell it multiple days on clothes. Sillage is only moderate though. It's an all year round indoor fragrance I can recommend to anyone that likes the other Le Male flankers or JPG in general and especially someone that likes a creamy vanilla.

This perfume is by far my favourite released by Jean Paul Gautier. The reason behind this is mainly because it can be worn in every season and on any occasion. Not everyone will like the smell, the projection and the longevity on this fragrance is above average from my experience at it lasts so much longer on clothes. Please don't listen to those saying that it is synthetic and that it is nothing groundbreaking because it is not synthetic and saying that it is synthetic and that it is nothing groundbreaking because it is not synthetic and its got its own DNA. I will give this fragrance a 10 out of 10. Needless to say the bottle looks great as well. Amazing release by Jean Paul Gaultier.

Idk why everyone has been avoiding this fragrance just because of name , yeah it’s zesty but the smell is actually very good and it’s perform pretty good. It’s a very versatile fragrance that can be worn at any time and occasion. Maybe not for the winter but for the summer, fall and spring its work’s good. Also I have gotten a lot of compliments of it. I would give it 7,2/10. Not bad at all I just like le Bleu le perfume more but I think it’s better than the original le bleu. Vanilla, fresh, powdery I think it’s great and don’t deserve the hate just because of the name. And if someone asks you att perfume your wearing don’t say le male lover just say Jean Paul Gaultier lover 😏👍🏻

Great, vanilla based fragrance with hints of amber and fresh spices. I get no citruses or marine notes, the official liste dnotes from Gaultier only specifies White Pepper, Ambergris and Vanilla. The ambergris here is syntheticly created and I am pretty sure that it's ambroxan-based, however, the synthetic smell is not cloying or disturbing. Vanilla used in here is the same old gaultier dna and the scent is versatile enough to wear it for all year round. Performance is also great, 8 hours with strong first few hours is very good for any fragrance for me. I really cannot understand how people dislikes this one, much better than Le Male Elixir or Green Paradise in my opinion.

Finally, I was able to get this one. Opens with finger lime, though not in its typically sharp form — more like the fruit sliced and left to rest for hours. White pepper lends a subtle sharpness beneath. The drydown moves into an airy white vanilla, distinctly floral rather than gourmand, with a weightless quality throughout. Projection is notably strong through the first two hours before settling into a persistent scent bubble for another 5-6 hours. Released alongside Paradise Garden, it's been largely overlooked in favor of its sibling — undeservedly so, given how well it executes the loud-yet-airy balance. Cheers,

This is a captivating fragrance: a little spicy with a subtle and gorgeous sweet undertone that accompanies the fragrance throughout all its life. As it dries down, it gets better and better as the sweet facet gets more noticeable. It is easy to wear and easy to like. Although it is very long lasting, and projects fine for the first hours, it's worth mentioning that it's not as potent as other JPG offerings such as Elixir, or Le Parfum. This is one leans more on the gentle side, which in my opinion, makes it more versatile. Very happy with my purchase.

I know that there are a lot of haters on Fragrantica. But come on. This is really well blended. It is also unbelievable powerfull. Afters 6 hours still projecting. This is not overly sweet and maybe not for the younger crowd. Maybe that's the reason for hate. I think this works really great for 30 and above and you love that JPG Male dna. This is the best choice for 30+ out of al the Male flankers at the moment. Only the bottle design doesn't match te scent profile very well.

By far my favorite in the JPG line next to Narcisse. So many folks complaining about sweetness in these newer drops - are we just ignoring the fact they've always been rich, sweet, heavy DNAs? Are we playing "I wanna be different"? Solid, smooth spiced vanilla done right. Ozonic and oceanic, salty, linen and cashmere with a hind of tropical citrus from the lime. Lasts maybe 6-8 hours on my skin, 8-10 on clothes, cut that in half if you're moving a lot or out in the heat.

As someone living in a tropical country, I find this perfume smells amazing, and it's my first JPG fragrance. It suits my novice nose and taste perfectly. The scent lasts for days on my sweater. I don’t understand why everyone online dislikes it, because I fell in love with it as soon as I tried it. I actually like it more than LMLP and LMLE because of its versatility. By the way, the dry down has a kind of coconutty scent, which adds a refreshing touch to it.

Omg this shocked me! I was just sniffing some fragrances in duty free and I came across this one and boy oh boyyy this is so smooth and nice. The opening is amazing like I've never really liked the opening of a fragrance like this before. Super underrated scent. It can work in all types of weathers no problem. I give this a 10/10 must try! Competing with le male elixir to me but, I can't decide which is better.

I wanted to buy a le beau but not sure which one and did not want to make my decision until I had smelled all 3. However, when I came across le male lover, I did not think twice to buy it. Similar to le beau with stronger coconut notes and more sweetness which is what I love. This cleared any confusion or hesitation buying a coconutty jpg fragrance and I am happy with the decision I made. 9/10.

The more I wear this, the more I like it. Initially, it has a bit of a salty Pina Colada vibe to it. As it dries down, the scent drifts into a light spicy/salty vanilla. This never feels overpowering to my nose in hot weather. I started to enjoy wearing it layered with Paradise Garden as it amps up the Coconut and fruity feel to the fragrance. They definitely compliment each other.

A very nice intimate scent perfect for daily wear in the summer and casual occasions, my girl best friend said it smellt like her boyfriends sweaty balls which can be either good or bad depending on how his balls smel: Overall it's a great and nice smell which is perfect for casual occasions and has great longevity and good projection. 8 dior sauvages out of 12 nautica voyages.

Somewhere between Le Male EDT And Le Male Elixir. Personally I’m a big fan Edit: After it has stayed on the skin for a while it smelt very similar to Le Male Le Parfum, but without the warmness with added ambergris and more amber, making it more versatile for almost every occasion. So basically if you like Le Male Le Parfum I’d definitely recommend picking this up.

When first sprayed, it's nothing out of the ordinary. It was quite generic, I wasn't impressed. However, after a while, it becomes this pleasant, almost tropical smell with citrus and aquatics taking over. It reminds me of D&G Light Blue Eau Intense, but it's unique enough to not get mixed up with it. This really surprised me, really solid summer scent for sure!

smells like a coconut lemonade with hints of vainilla waffer cookies . its fresh, clean, non gourmandy airy sweet and salty vainilla. works perfect on hot summer but you have to expect this to be a freshie you have to apply more than 5 sprays for better perfomance. on my skin it proyects well ,lasts 6-8 hr on skin for me

I really don’t know what the hate is for this fragrance. A store in town actually had it and I gave it a sniff. I liked it. Smelt familiar without being exact. I ended up going back to get it because the smell grew on me. This year has been funny for new releases just flopping. So compared to others I’m happy with this.

Underhyped and underappreciated which means more for me! Command attention with this one or simply have rough s_x. it presents itself as a blue modern, fun, long lasting flanker to the long line up of le male. Not just good but great. A canary in the coal mine of never ending jpg releases.

Amazing scent with suprisingly good performance, easy 12+ hours! Aquatic, zesty with a warm seductive base of just enough vanilla and musk. The best le male! This one really deserves more love than its getting. Solid 10/10! In love with it and I get tons of compliments wearing it.

I actually like this. The elixir version is a bit too much for me but the Le Male Lover is really something in between the original Le Male and Elixir. Very nice addition to my collection. I do not understand the hate people are having for this perfume, it is lovely...

Honestly the smell leans a bit feminine in the opening, but in the dry down I would say its unisex. Definitely underrated imo, and its got decent longevity. Lots of versatility and it being limited edition will make it ideal after a few years if your a collector.

What? coconut? Le Beau?? there's only 1 option You never smelled Popeye/Superman/Andre Edition, and then, i understand the comparison This is a modernized Popeye version. Creamy vanila peppery and fresh marine-like with ambergris.

Recently tried this when buying a bunch of samples and man this is good! Great vanilla and amber scent.The only thing i dislike is the spices in the opening otherwise its great. Smell:8/10 Longevity:6 hours

So good! Spicy, tropical, fresh, vanilla. Good projection and even better sillage! Not sure on how this isn't at least a 4.0 rating or higher. Like a better and more versatile Le Beau EDT in my opinion

Found it in a local fregrances store i fell in love with it and got it for a steal price at 100$ , I bought all 5 pieces that store had no regrets since it is a great scent and probably discontinued

I would say that is is probably the best JPG by far it is so good and not zesty like most people say. i think that this is defiantly worth looking at would defiantly get this over paradise gardens.

For me, this is alright. At the start, I get a very strong pepper smell, but on the dry down, it becomes more relaxed, and you get more vanilla. Overall, it's nice and wearable all year long.

Don't trust youtuber rants, this Lover EDP is just incredible, different, fresh, spicy not overly sweet, really versatile and OFC long lasting. Blind buy material

In the same line of Le Beau, but creamier, richer and more complex. I detect coconut, although it's not listed. Longevity is above average. A great release!

This one smells almost just like Scandal to me. It opens quite different but dries down nearly identical. It does have NUCLEAR performance on me though!
