Le Male Pride Edition

Le Male Pride Edition is a great unisex fragrance from Jean Paul Gaultier. Unisex fragrances have seen a resurgence of late. What Gaultier did different with Pride edition is have the same fragrance released for men and women but released them in its own flancons. Le Male Pride is the traditional male mannequin bottle like Le Male while Classique Pride is the traditional female mannequin bottle like Classique. It sounds like a nice idea to promote unisex fragrances, sell them in a pour homme and a feminine flacon, especially if it is from a brand that doesn't traditionally do unisex releases (CK one releases for example.) Le Male Pride opens with a citric open but I can easily smell the neroli from the mid. The citrus doesn't really have a discernible note to be honest. The neroli note is easily the strongest of the entire fragrance. I do notice the blonde wood which for some reason has a sandalwood feel. Maybe it is from me using sandalwood bodywash, beard wash, beard condition, beard oil and beard balm. I also smell a faint musk. I do not get much of any orange blossom from Le Male Pride. Le Male Pride lasts pretty good. I notice about a 7 hour longevity from it. It also does have nice projection, which is not uncommon with most male Jean Paul Gaultier offerings. Le Male, Le Male Terrible, Ultra Male, Le Male Eau Fraiche, Le Male In The Navy, Le Male Le Parfum, etc. I feel Le Male Pride Edition gets an unnecessary hatred, especially from gay-bashers. I mean if you like Neroli centric fragrances like Tom Ford Neroli Portifino or Ferrari Bright Neroli, it smells similar to that vein but in Jean Paul Gaultier way with a bit more performance and longevity than most. It isn't overly sweet though, like some Gaultier releases can be. For this I rate Le Male Pride Edition an 8.2 out of 10. Is it my favorite Jean Paul Gaultier, no. However, it is much better than the OG Le Male and has a nice clean smell to it.

Absolutely adore this magic elixir. This is masterfully put together. Fresh, smooth, still somewhat strong and very very original for 2022. To me it’s summery, pure sex and hugely complex for a summer frag. Top marks 10/10. It has some aspect of old ”Fleur” in there revived, together with the vibe of early summer versions of Le Male. Namely ” Le Male Les d'Ete 2005 Jean Paul Gaultier”. I missed it so much. Great display of heritage by Bisch who is verging on spilling over into his usual sunscreen accord, but the sharp citruses saves it from utter vanillic sweetness. Feminine yeah, but then again, JPG is known for genderbending. Same was said for Le Male and many flankers of it. Perhaps I am acting too stuck up here because I like it. The performance was way better than I anticipated too. It’s closer to skin after 3-4 hours, but really present still as it’s going strong, the musky base lingers on and on. The drydown on my hand definitely goes towards Fleur de Male. I owned it twice so I am quite familiar with it. But not on the same strength level of of course, this is softer and fresher. I would also throw out Fahrenheit 32 as a good reference point with the orange blossom. I do smell mint in this, quite clearly but it is not listed. This is a hit, I would strongly advice everyone to grab it while it's out. This will be a classic and you’ll regret not having this.

The most complex fragrance in my collection. It’s all over the place really, but it accumulates and bonds everything together into something overwhelmingly beautiful. Imagine Le Male: musky, but with citruses and flowers added. That’s what this is. It’s giving I’m independent and unique. Perfect for spring and meant to be worn during the day. I’ve read a lot of negative comments on this one and don’t exactly get why. I can only think that at least some of them were written out of prejudice. The only catch about this beautiful and unique fragrance is its short longevity. Surprisingly, sillage is stronger. Unfortunately, it might smell better on a strip than on your skin, which can be very underwhelming. Nonetheless, still a great fragrance and should be made into its own perfume instead of being only limited edition. I recommend picking it up as they’re usually on sale and for cheap. Probably not a safe blind buy. I reckon not everyone would be able to appreciate its smell. I’ve worn this and I’ve received a lot of compliments from women. Easily the most talked of my fragrances when I go out wearing it. If it weren’t for its short longevity, rating would be higher. Still, 8.5 out of 10.

If you enjoy soapy neroli/orange blossom type fragrances like Artisan Pure, Polo Earth or Neroli Portofino, then you’ll love this as it has a similar vibe. I tried it today at a Nordstrom and instantly liked it, great fragrance for Spring and Summer. Honestly I don’t smell any of the Le Male DNA, if it’s there it’s way in the background. Personally I couldn’t care less if it’s a “Pride” edition, if something smells good it smells good, and this definitely smells good! Seems fairly long lasting as well since it’s been almost 6 hours since spraying this and I can still smell it so performance is solid. Love the silver bottle and overall presentation. I’m looking forward to when this is available at Macy’s.

Like someone said, this is like a strong neroli portofino Yes.. It might be feminine according to it lacking traditional male notes, but to me it just isnt. It's more gay or unisex than "feminine". I wear it as a straight guy meeting women and it has "worked". Green citrusy floral. A real banger, overdosed and strong, which gives it huge sillage and longevity. Your devoted dance floor partner and suits partytime or weekends. This kinda of scent, man... very odd in the lineup of 2025, smells early 2000. Its just really fresh, slightly sweet and embodies spring season. Love it. Suicidal_wizard: Kind of. Its that same jpg 2000s vibe, but more citrusy and modern. Much more blood orange heavy.

Just dropped my review of this on my youtube "Rotten Rebel" and I wanted to share how I feel about it with the lovely folks here at Fragrantica! It's a freshie with a SMOOTH kind of citrusy opening that then dries down to a citrusy floral with a bit of musk. The floral side of it is to me more orange blossom than neroli and just like the opening it's VERY smooth. I honestly feel this is a GREAT release from JPG. It smells gorgeous in a fresh way and it's definitely a mass appealing fresh fragrance that a lot of people around you will enjoy. Performance is above average but not beast mode. I like it.. A lot.

Gorgeous citruses and sweet blood orange combined perfectly with neroli and orange blossom, complimenting each other in great harmony without stealing the spotlight. A base of musk and wood adds the perfect support to this bright ensemble. The bottle design with its little crop top is adorable, charming the open-minded and sparking reactions from those not quite ready for a leap into the 21st century.

This rating is a shame and shows the immaturity of some users on fragrantica. It basically smells very close to LV „On the Beach“, which is a great and uplifting summer scent. Bloodorange, Yuzu, citrus notes and clean white musc are the main players here. For the price, you can’t go wrong with this one and it’s one of the best le male flankers.

it has nothing of the classic le male, or for the female version le classique, and perhaps for this reason its rating is so low... the truth is that it is a masterpiece, citrusy, persistent, wonderfully fresh, sparkling and floral, and finally, at a ridiculous price, I managed to get it. for all citric lovers a must have.

A very lovely grapefruit. Not overwhelming or intense, but people will smell you from a meter or two. Slightly soapy and honestly, this reminds me of the air scent that my grandma used to always have at her place. If you find it at a discounter, it's worth the try, I'd say.

Just got it last night! This is a very FRESH surprise from JPG! Love it! Perfect for summer! Citrus, I catch jusmin but I guess its orange blossom, and muck. Well done! Reminds of some L' Artisan fragrances but with more yuzu. Would buy a back upbottle!

It's a crisp, clean, soapy fragrance, good choice for a summer day, perhaps too similar to the old blue Dial soap bar (but I loved that smell, so I'm not mad). It's definitely intimate, sits very close to the skin. Performs better on clothes.

Super fresh and crisp! I’m going to rock this one in the summer when the temperature is right. Fits everybody! Man or woman, gay or straight. No Le Male in this what so ever.

I don't get the hate for this one. Smells very different to me with a nice transition from the open to the dry down. Winner in my book.

Smells so good, but for women, I would never wear it as a man.

Fairly simple Citrus white floral freshie. I wish the Citrus was a bit higher and the floral toned down. I feel like there is something missing that could make this fragrance great. If you're familiar with TF Neroli Portofino, JV Artisan Pure, Dunhill Amalfi Citrus, or Bvlgari Wood Neroli, then you know what kind of fragrance this is. This has a decent longevity and it is sweet, but something about the blend gets a bit cloying. If you are not looking to spend a lot of money for a fragrance in this style, Bvlgari Wood Neroli would be the closest to this if you wanted a little sweetness. I think Wood Neroli is blended better than this as well. Overall, not bad if you are looking to grab another JPG fragrance, but just know it doesn't smell like any of the others. Maybe a slight hint at Fleur du Mâle, but barely.

I'm getting nostalgic vibes of Fleur De Male from this limited edition. Maybe less of white flowers with more noticable juicy citruses mix with soapy freshness. Nice and calming edition, very pleasant to wear during Spring or Fall season, (Why?!) because white flowers mix of neroli and orange blossom are too annoying for me during hot summer days. P.S. - This E.d.t. smells sophisticatelly different and even better during rainy days. Good longevity and sillage.

This opens as a nice citrus fragrance but quickly goes to musky florals. Not a bad fragrance, IMO leans more feminine. The one problem I have with this fragrance is the fact that it's the exact same fragrance in the male flacon and the female flacon, that is literally the point. Yet the female version is priced about $20 higher?? Is it cause the flacon has one extra bump on it?? Is that worth $20 more??

I am a straight male and i really like this. This is so much better than many of the (maybe homophobic?) votes suggest. Bright and sunny exotic yuzu and blood orangy opening followed by a beautiful and not too sweet orange blossom flowery neroli honey drydown... I personally think that this is way better than the votes here imply...

This is a fine summer scent. Light, refreshing and brings compliments. The blood orange is strong, later natural neroli takes the lead. In the base I smell wood dried by the sun. Luckily you can take the shirt off and it becomes a silver strong man. It's unisex, but I can only imagine it on a man.

Solid summer choice. Some have mentioned it being similar to TF Neroli Portifino, but to me the dry down on this is better. Citrus fades fairly quickly and gives way to a clean and fresh smell. Projections seems to be about 2-3 meters

Blind bought this. So far not disappointed although too soon to tell as to projection and longevity. Definitely for the warmer weather. I do miss popeye. Haven't compared it yet to le Beau(coconut) but I'm really enjoying this

Soapy fragrance. Neroli, woods and musk. Very fresh, refreshing and happy. In the lines of Neroli Portofino but not the same. Good performance, surprisingly. Nice summer fragrance.

It's a nice & sharp tea-like scent reminiscent of one of the Bvlgari Thés; really wanted to have one but I don't love it enough 😕

The blood orange is very strong in the opening. Then the musk quickly appears, and it starts to smell like Laundry detergent or Orange dish soap. I’m not really a fan. It doesn’t smell bad or offensive, I’m just not a fan of “clean” scents.

I'm a fan of and own many of the Le Male flankers, but to my nose, this one doesn't really smell like it's related to most of the others, except maybe some slight similarity to Eau Fraiche, due to the neroli. I don't detect fresh or bitter citrus, nor do I detect a blood orange fruit smell. This has a cloyingly sweet, powdery, citrus blossom smell, musk and I pick up a faint synthetic orange. The fragrance feels a bit flat and I think it could have benefited from additional notes. Perhaps some mint, a more true citrus fruit, or a slight citrus rind note, would have made it feel better suited to summer. It smells kind of like Smarties mixed with potpourri. It actually reminds me of a specific carpet cleaner and deodorizer I used to have, and because of this, it makes me a bit nauseous to smell it. I sprayed it on and asked someone else what they thought of it on me and they scrunched up their face, waved their hand in front of their nose and said "Ugh. No." Performance-wise, it's not weak. It has moderate or better longevity and sillage. It's supposed to be unisex, but to me, this leans more feminine. Although I personally wouldn't care to smell this on a female either. I would not consider this blind-buy safe. I wish I could have found a sample or a tester bottle in-store locally, so I could've tried this out before spending $90 on the Macy's website. Sadly disappointed with this one. I was hoping for another summer winner from JPG. I kept wearing it, hoping it would grow on me, but it never did. I couldn't find anyone who wanted it, so I threw it away.

Absolutely horrid. The opening is so strong it’s nauseating, and after that it goes bland. Kinda messy. That aside, I also don’t like the bottle.. the crop top looks sooo cheap and tacky. Out of everything they could’ve done..

Just Meh! Sold it the very next week. No creativity at all. Someone warned me that it was "A shame to to the legendary Le Male flankers" and I can see why!

My friend inadvertently wore this fragrance the other day, and passersby commented that it smelled unpleasant, like trash. I wouldn't recommend it.

Smells like a pixy stick or skittles and I’m here for it. What a surprise, its candied but bright florals are also prominent too adding a clean radiance with an amazingly fresh but sweet musky base. Not a heavy fragrance at all and is actually the lightest and brightest JPG Le Male I’ve smelled, even more than Le Beau. Completely different profile than any other, and I am really impressed! I don’t think many others have smelled Mercedes-Benz Sign Your Attitude which was also a 2022 release, but there is a distinct familiarity with that and this Le Male. This Le Male is more candied but there is a similar sweetness off the top of both, and both finishing with this light fresh and clean sweet muskiness that I just love. Unfortunately my sample was just a peel card but I’d love to actually be able to try wearing it, it’s rare the peel samples even get my attention. Edit: I ended up just putting the peel sample oil on my skin and damn, if the real thing acts anything like it, it’s a winner. I suppose that may actually work if you have no other option because it seemed to stay and develop on my skin. Its bright clean muskiness is perfectly sugar-coated and delightful to smell. Definitely a “pick me up” fragrance that I think is well executed. Edit 7/16/25: I’ve found Imaginary Author’s Fox in the Flowerbed to be INCREDIBLY similar to this. Damn I still love this profile!!

I may not have the most trained olphactory system, but, as soon as I tried one (in paper), I notice a VERY close resemblance with Ted Lapidus Sport with a bit more Citrus on top. Ted Lapidus will somehow become darker/smokier while Le male Pride will remain more happy/citrusy and seems to last a bit longer. Both are nice. With the citrus top it is a very interesting take on a concept. I see some hate around it and dislike but it is very interesting and If I didn ́t have Ted Lapidus Sport already, I ́d buy it. I don ́t see it as a masterpiece. But It ́s a youngster scent that you can wear from your 15 to 25 in almost every occasion without worrying about anything.

There is going to be a Le Male Pride Edtion for 2023 too. It's on the official Jean Paul Gaultier website, you can check it for yoursefl. While JPG doesn't specifically say whether it is the same scent as the 2022 version, I am fairly sure it will be. The note breakdown seems to be the same as in 2022 and the bottle is the same silver material, just with a different shirt. All in all good news in my book, I really like the unique, sunscree-like smell of this fragrance, but it is not easily obtainable in my country, so I'm hoping I'll be able to get the 2023 edition.

I am not a fan of the original Le Male and have no need for most of its flankers, except Le Male Le Parfum and Ultra Male. Both are keepers. I can now add Le Male Pride Edition 2022 to my list of Le Male favorites. This is a fresh orange blossom and musky frag that seems to perform. Figuring it would be a limited edition, I plunked down the $80-ish bucks Macy's demanded. Very satisfied with the purchase. Scent 8.5 Projection 8 Longevity 8.5 Price 8 Happy to have parted with my OG bottle and Superman Eau Fraiche.

Reminds me of Dior Homme Sport 2017 with it's juicy citruses that dry down to powdery neroli/orange blossom and some indistinct wood. I was kinda hoping it would follow the eau fraiche line like Superman, Popeye, and Andre but it lacks the mint and sweetness. In fact just take those add more sour citrus and remove the aforementioned notes and you have this. Not bad, not great. I passed on buying this mostly because of the similarity to DHS2017 which I already own making this a bit redundant.

@frag7700 There is a huge amount of 'sex obsessed marking' in the world - the majority of fragrances are sold with some sort of sexualised marketing - the overwhelming amount of it is heterosexual sex obsessed marketing - do you leave hate comments on all of that too? Also the reviewer you are ranting at didnt say anything about genitals - that obsession seems to be all your own. If you dont like gay people and you feel the need to comment - then at least own your hate - cos it is hate.

If you absolutely love this profile like I do, I HIGHLY recommend checking out Fox in the Flowerbed by Imaginary Authors. Fox is a little more airy but the similarity is undeniable, and not quite as pixy stick sweet as this JPG. This one is becoming a good bit harder to find being a limited edition release from 2022, so just doing what I can here. Will check back in a while to see if anyone tries Fox and get their opinion!!

This is a great easy reach citrus/ light musk scent for the summer. This is the same formula you will find for the 2022 and up pride editions. Performance is what you would expect for this fragrance profile. It is completely unisex. It’s a bit pricy at full retail but from discounters the price is solid. My only complaint is it does not come in the 6.8oz bottle.

Yes, Unisex fragrances have been around forever so there's a whiff of pandering around JPG's marketing of this Le Male/Le Classique combo. That's still no reason to review-bomb this fragrance and nobody's forcing you to wear this over whatever 'masculine' scent you may prefer. With that said, I'm looking forward to trying this once it comes out.

You do realize that you can judge a fragrance based on the scent alone and how it makes you feel, and not by what a designer house says about it. You also realize that you can decant the scent into a 'nicer' looking bottle of your choice if the packaging and bottle throws you off. LV On the Beach is a close second to this.

I don't get the immaturity and hate that is on fragrantica as a whole. Probably alot of insecure people that want to smell good to feel a bit better about them selves. Don't mind the rating of this fragrance, it's rated low because of homophobia. Yes, i'm straight but i'm just telling it for what it is.

An intriguing and promising cross between Atelier Cologne's Pomelo Paradis and Bohemian Orange Blossom in the opening, with a slightly cheap-smelling, aqueous, and generic woody amber base that will remind you of all your favourite contemporary masculine blue-bottled designer fragrances.
