Le Male Terrible

Le Male was released in 1995 and has quickly become adored throughout the world. I confess that I have a great affection and admiration for its fragrance. Since its launch, the house of Jean Paul Gaultier has already brought to the market almost 40 variations, including limited and collectors editions. However, some say it was reformulated in 2010 and, later, in 2012 in order to meet the requirements of the governing agencies regarding the compositions of certain perfumes and the ingredients used in them. Because of this, immediately after the first batches reach stores around the world, thousands of loyal users criticized the loss of potency and durability of its fragrance. Coincidence or not, in the same year of 2010, Le Male Terrible, created by Aurelien Guichard, who has worked on creations for Azzaro, Davidoff, Nina Ricci, etc. arrived in the market. Until then, the favorite perfumer to give life to flankers was Francis Kurkdjian. Le Male Terrible was a limited edition, which brought notes of grapefruit and pink pepper, on top; Lavender and vetiver, in the body; Amber and vanilla, in the base. While the DNA of the line was established, basically, on the notes of lavender, mint and vanilla and although the ginger note also appears in many of the flankers, this time the fragrance brought the vetiver, which few people extol, but it makes a big difference in the final result. Le Male Terrible touches the skin a bit more bitter, but with the same construction of the original version. Before, the artemisia and the bergamot gave that bitter nuance. Now, the grapefruit does that job. The pink pepper is not spicy either, as many people think. People love to say that the perfume became "spicy" because of this ingredient, but its nuances are much more floral than spicy. So, it is wise to pay attention to how this note develops, making room for the lavender, which is wonderful in this scent. But the vetiver, in my opinion, is the great star of the evolution, with its smoky and slightly chocolate-flavored nuances, without much woody content. To finish, the notes of amber and vanilla can replace, with praise, the base of the original version, which contained more ingredients, such as tonka bean, cedar, etc. Le Male Terrible was, in my opinion, an attempt to offer the public, again, the original fragrance with a different composition but with excellent projection and durability. No wonder it was marketed as Eau de Toilette Extreme.

Every now and then, clumsy giant creatures invade your peaceful little world....out of them pours various noises much alike creatures having a fit or the bowing of great trees. It's quite annoying. The latest couple lasted a few minutes before lifting their portable cloud to let you breathe again....you stretch deeply as the sun trickles over your extremities. You can see the rays dancing in their pinks and golds, greens and reds, and blues and yellows across your crisp green flesh. The sun tastes like the warmest pepper and juiciest grapefruit - its essence tingles slightly. Your body dances instinctually, reaching toward the nourishing essence. You pause in your moment of glory - there is a dense fog rolling ominously toward you. You close your bud in preparation for the chill lurking toward you. It hits in a wave of thick vanilla and sharp lavender with a crisp root note...a dandy fog. As it washes over, you begin to feel warm in the rolling blanket and drink it in, cautiously. You are suspended in the mist...the white and grey releases all the savagery of a life of struggle. Light peeks through once again and you are made whole - you blossom once again. Day 90 - Momentary Listening to: Muse - Sunburn Notes: Of all of the JPG Flanders that are similar to the original (Fleur du Male is my favorite but is quite different from the original), Terrible is undoubtedly my go to! For those who claim this is a "more masculine" rendition of the original (and its million flankers), I have to agree but only slightly. Upon spraying, I am met with an energizing combination of grapefruit, mint, and pink pepper - this is where it strays most from the original as the pink pepper lends a touch of masculine charm. However, even the opening is cloaked in the frothy deliciousness that is the JPG vanilla. Every sniff will yield a mix of pepper and vanilla...and it is delicious! Terrible holds above the skin like a beautiful cloud of nondescript, slightly sharp lavender and citric woods (it could be vetiver or Iso E Super) with that beautiful amber and vanilla. Almost every note is present from the beginning and the fume slowly sweetens over time (the pepper only makes it a pinch more "manly") and can easily be enjoyed by anyone. The fume is also surprisingly durable as I get a good 8 to 10 hours without fail. If you don't own a JPG Male fume, get this as it is a more interesting version that the original and its army of flankers!

I love the Le Male DNA and have started to develop a bit of a Le Male collection, so when I saw this come up for a reasonable price I had to pull the trigger. Oh man....what this could have been. I can't lie, I'm a little bit disappointed with this one. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy Terrible. I really like the slight twist of swapping out the mint and cardamom for grapefruit and pink pepper - I dare say I prefer it to the original opening - it adds a slightly fresher facet to a predominantly oriental fragrance. It's a cool contrast. But the disappointment for me is that they didn't take it further. I wish they had really leant more into the pepper and the citrusy sharpness, but instead there's just a very faint note of grapefruit and a mere hint of pepperiness on top of the classic Le Male DNA. It's unmistakably Le Male. Not that it's a problem, because I love Le Male....but there's just not enough of a departure from the original. It's so similar that anyone who already recognises Le Male will recognise Terrible as the original. Terrible does dial down the vanilla by the tiniest amount so it's not quite as thick and powdery as the original, which does allow the grapefruit more room to breathe. I do think this version is slightly more wearable and versatile as a result. It almost makes me think that this was a lab sample from when they created the original Le Male, but they instead opted to go for a more striking minty powdery combo in the opening for the OG. It's so similar that I couldn't really recommend anyone go and seek Terrible out especially if you own the original. This is a good fragrance, but I'm not sure it should ever really have been released.

In French "Terrible" can mean "terrific" as much as "terrible" in context. Sort of like saying something is "bad" can be a compliment. As an example, the French Navy has had at least one ship named "Terrible" for much of its time (Destroyer, Submarine, etc.).... I saw a bottle of this at Ross for $11 and couldn't resist trying it out. I like the original Le Male, but it is such a vanilla bomb beast that I only wear it on rare occasion. Certainly never to work in the office. I was thrilled to find that Terrible, ironically, seemed a lot more wearable to me. To me the pepper brings a quality to it that makes it a lot more mature. Yet, someone mature who still has a sense of humor and a streak of rebellion. Actually, with the vanilla tempered, I get all the notes in a nice balance: pepper, lemon, lavender, vanilla, vetiver, all come through over the amber base. Obviously, I find this a worthy and useful flanker. It does lose some of the projection, longevity, and sillage that the original LM is famous for, but it is still well above average and the tempering makes it more versatile for me. Not nearly as popular either, so you have a better chance of wearing something no one else around is wearing. This is one of my best blind buys: score. Funny story: It was late afternoon so I pulled out the Terrible for a touch-up. I put a spray on each arm and right afterwards a co-worker walked into my office. I thought, "oh no, bad timing! Someone walks in right after I spray Le Male, I'm going to smell way too strong here. Couldn't she have walked in 20 minutes later?" Instead she smiled and said, "it smells yummy in here!"

This iteration of Le Male is called "Terrible", because, after the initial burst of grapefruit and pink pepper, it smells that way ...intentionally! It reeks like an abomination but that's all part of its game. The reason I love this fragrance so much is because after about 30 minutes or so, a complete metamorphosis, much in line with that of "The Dreamer", by Versace, occurs. This is we're the sheer brilliance of this fragrance lies. Before long, the filthy, dirty, loud, obnoxious, bombastic, and nose-prickling, 1980's powerhouse opening dries down into the most beautiful, masculine, sensual, natural, dry-yet-sweet, woody, spicy, and delicious vanilla skin-scent (with hints of Le Male if breathed upon directly, as is bound to happen when you wear this!) leaving your epidermis awash in irresistible delight and fragrant magic for the next 12 hours or so. From caterpillar to butterfly, from ugly duckling to swan, from frog to prince, "Terrible" truly IS terrible, make no mistake about it. There's a razor blade slung around this bad-boy's neck for a reason. He's the macho, masculine stereotype who has no qualms about putting on a misogynistic show in public, but behind closed doors, he's the quiet, introspective genius, treating women with the utmost kindness and respect which they deserve; a man who, like myself, truly doesn't give a fuck about what the world thinks about him. He knows exactly who he is, and so does everyone he selects to get to know him. So dynamic, and so representative of myself: I ADORE this juice... if only after about an thirty minutes. ;-) OVERALL: 9/10

This thing is amazing, I picked it up pretty recently but it's become my go to for daily wear easily. Why get a fragrance if you won't wear it? It opens REALLY peppery, for the first five minutes there's just nothing but citrus and pepper. That isn't a bad thing, you grow on it after like the third wear but it can be a lot for some people. This one is definitely something that takes a few wears to really love it if you aren't into it from the start. The opening is spicy, really spicy. It's a lot more aromatic than you'd expect and that isn't a bad thing, but that opening really lingers, for like an hour at most. The citrus-y opening is a little harsh until you're used to it, but it'll grow on you The drydown is something special, again, the first few times I wore it I couldn't smell much of that vanilla and lavender that Le Male Terrible gets advertised for, but lately it's a lot more prominent now that I'm used to it. Through the entire thing you'll be smelling that spicy-citrus combo in the background of it, but the longer it sits on your skin the sweeter it gets. Longevity on this is amazing, goes strong for about 8ish hours and becomes a skin scent by then, that's where the vanilla really comes out. For me it's the perfect daily use for school, my family loves it on me and it's fairly inoffensive in environments like that. Just spicier than you'd expect, don't buy a bottle expecting just vanilla but it's a great pickup. One of JPG's best in my opinion, heartbreaking they discontinued it. My sister also said it smells like Maine, beautiful scent, 10/10

Man, I love JPG. I fell in love with Le Male ages ago. Stopped wearing it when someone in an elevator said, oh, that's Le Male isn't it? That was when it first came out and was very popular. Started wearing again recently and still love the original. Came to also respect Fleur du Male for it's distinctiveness (I can see where an insecure male woud find this scent "too feminine," but to me it's a perfect male floral scent). Now, I tried Le Male Terrible (crazy name, huh?). Can I tell this is a JPG-Le Male scent? yes...is it different? Most definitelly. No mint; now pink pepper and grapefruit take a seat on the top of the bus...to me, this made Terrible a dirtier, more masculine version of the Le Male series. I love it because it's a JPG Le Male cousin, slightly different, but completely as wonderous. I would own all three (I haven't tried any others). Those that say the bottle freaks them out...one has to wonder about them. What's the big deal, I say? Think of it as a tailor's suit model (yeah it has a bulge because we men have penises that bulge - is that what freaks you out so much? Get real, and check your crotch again...you'll find you have one of those too). I love Le Male and it's brothers/cousins. They are delightful scents and always put me in a great mood. They're happiness in a bottle (yeah, with a bulge). haha Try some on your skin first before you buy. JPG is not for everyone (just those that know better).

Well...when original Le Male was created I was 16 years old....and after 1-2 years from premiere 80% males in age 20-30 and more had started to use Le Male.And in that times appeared a lot of fake versions of Le Male : Cuba for example/ I was young and didn't have so much money to buy the original so I bought the false version and I was the most happy men in the world -especially when I was going to disco club:-). Time was passing and one month ago I called this scent to my mind. I went to perfume shop and i sprayed it to my wrist - well... honestly I didn't ecstatic....It was too powdery , too sweet, too choking ...but the scent was staying in my brain thru the weeks and I then I have found - maybe one week ago - the new version- Le Male Terrible...and I bought it - it was clear "blind buy" :-)....but This is it!! Terrible has all good and unique qualities which old Le Male has - Vanilla&lavender&Amber and some new ingredients: pepper&grapefruit in the very begging and some vetyver in the middle of scent pyramid. There's no powder, less mint and it is much more "dryer" than original. It has much less femininity in the scent structure. it's real male scent - PERFECT SCENT. I think it's not so strong and imposing like original but its much more mature- of course the youthful soul is still there :-). Projection: excellent longevity:10 hours Scent: Perfect Overall: 10/10

Underrated!! This was part of the "hey day" of Gaultier perfumes early 2000s. The time when Le Male, Fleur de Male, Terrible and Le Male Summer editions like the 2009 edition, or the legendary "Les d'Ete" from Francis himself, released in 2005. Terrible stuck around for very long at the shelves if I remember correctly, from the hey day to just up until a few years ago before it vanished. I never gave it much thought when I had the chance, but I revel in the memories of this one when I smell a sample of it. Gaultier later had a sort of "second coming" with two flanker perfumes in the 2010s. Essence the perfume by Q Bisch and the very delightful release of Eau Fraiche (Popeye) by Nathalie GC. Both superb frags at release. Now? I don't know Gaultier anymore. He was the provocateur and took that role in fragrances too. Pushed the envelope on everything and went against trends of aquatics and woods with his raunchy style. They made cool frags that stood out. I would like to say that they basically release safe scents now (Le Beau, Le perfume and Navy where forgettable, and nothing out now is nearly as daring as they were back in the days when Cocorico came out, totally going against the trends of that era. The latest releases fade in imagination and projection. And Essence has been totally watered down.

JPG Le Male Terrible.. Le Male, lavender, mint and vanilla-sweet delicious harmony. A masculine scent has been compared to his older brother, and I agree.. Base notes of vanilla under the rule of the gene. Although the smoothed and corrected for the summer, though still too sweet, maybe slightly windy summer evenings. The use of cold weather will be better... I think Le Male Terrible better than orginal Le male. Fresh Spicy notes in the Le Male Terrible so manly and so good. Longevity 4 hours in my skin, 8+ hours on my clothes. Sillage is good. When u wear this scent get good compliments your friends. Le Male Terrible, both the bottle and the name of his brother and the scent is quite similar to Le Male. In a sense, we can say Le Male, more streamlined version. Le Male was seemingly more straight mint vanilla, spice added to the state Terrible'a can say. In fact, the more complex and interesting in this respect was the smell of Le departs Male. In general, because I love vanilla fragrance quite liked it. I did not feel artificiality. A successful combination of spices and vanilla. At least as nice balanced blend of Le Male. Understated but attractive. Womens probably will love this fragrance ;) Projection: 8/10 Longevity: 8/10 Sillage:8/10

I was on the "Le Male" trend when it first came out and to be quite honest I was so enthusiastic with this, that I owned every single product of the "Le Male" product line. Years passed and "Le Male" started to show its age, while it got copied to every kind of product you could imagine, from shower gels and deodorants to room perfumes and candles. So I got a little bored with it and I moved on to other perfumes, although 'Le Male" always had a special place in my heart. I really didn't bother with all those countless flankers that JPG released over the years since I got a sample of this, which I actually forgot for some time and today I gave it a try. First of all there is a lot of original Le Male DNA in it but it feels more polite, less harsh and more wearable that the original. I get more pepper than vanilla, making it a better version, which is quite a surprise. The bad news are that I get literally no projection and bad longevity, it performs as a skin perfume on me, which is quite peculiar, as long as the original Le Male juice was a performance and projection beast. *This review was written after several full wearings of the perfume and not just after smelling this on paper or on wrist.

I bought this blind to replace fragrance with vanilla notes that I enjoy since I wanted to try something different than the bottle of 212 Sexy Men by Carolina Herrera I ran out of. I've had it for a few weeks and it has grown on me. Liked it at first but primarily came across too sweet with strong vanilla and lavender notes coming at me too heavily. After wearing it more consistently I've gotten good peppery notes combined with citrus and woody traces from the amber. This is leading me to start loving this fragrance. It does resemble 212 sexy men, but enjoy the spiciness I get from Le Male Terrible. I smell it on my skin and clothes 6-7 hours after wearing it so enjoy that as well so far. Got a good buy. Just noticed that Aurelien Ghichard is the nose behind this fragrance. Makes complete sense since he was the nose behind Eros by Versace as well which I thoroughly enjoy. Thumbs up once again!

In any case, I consider this as a more masculine version of the original. Starts almost the same but bitter. The two perfumes are close relatives although, terrible turns to be more animalic in the base notes. You can smell the vanilla from the top notes to the base notes and, the lavender and something else which make this more masculine and animalic. I would say that this type of animalic smell is similar to the one in kouros (civet) although kouros is much stronger. in terrible, the ingredients much perfectly and and are well blended. You can also smell the grapefruit and pepper in top notes and i consider that the grapefruit lasts longer than the pepper. this is a very good fragrance and if you like the original le male, you will most probably like that one also. I prefer terrible from the original as i see it to be more manly.

Ok...so I wasn't really a big big fan of JPG. I smelled the original before, that strong open smell of vanilla and mint. Firstly I said it's too strong, it's too sweet..I didn't really like the original that much. I blind bought this " terrible". I must say..I'm happy with it :) i got myself a 75ml, i was afraid I might not like it. Indeed it smells like the original on the drydown, but when you apply you get that beautiful smell of vanilla and citrus( i love citruses), it smells so good, like a gourmand. From what i get I'd say that: Longevity: on my skin is around 7-8H Silage: I don't really smell anything from my own opinion. My nose is dumb sometimes... I can't even smell Pacco Rabbane 1 million. BUT i asked my sister if she can smell it from a distance and she said yes. so I'd give it a 8.5/10 Overall :9.5/10 I love it <3

I NEED THIS!! I'm on a Gaultier kick, he's like my all time fav. frag designer every fragrance he has I love so no doubt I have to have this. thing is I seen this when it first came out only I didn't try it on my skin, so I came back to it a few days ago spritzed a bit on && OMG! immediately fell in love just like I did w/ the summer edition, there's just something about his frags. that tantalize my senses && smack me straight to into heaven. && I tell ya u can't stop sniffing urself to save ya it's intoxicating. It does have a very nice && diff opening with the very fresh && pleasant grapefruit, then agreed it just settles down to the orig only slightly lighter && I say it's pretty suitable to wear whenever...I LOVE IT!! :) UPDATE: I have it, I love it, an enjoyable add to my collection. :)

I wrote a review not so long ago (a couple of reviews below) and I said I was disappointed upon first spray. I have to say, I have since fallen in love with Le Male Terrible and I would reach for this over the original Le Male every day of the week. I feel like the grapefruit and pink pepper notes are a bit more noticeable to me now than they were when I'd first tried Terrible a few weeks ago - I have no idea why. I still wish they'd maybe pushed the boat out just a little bit more to really distinguish it from the OG, but I love the slighter fresher, zestier touch that is present throughout. It just smells cleaner than the OG too which definitely makes it slightly more versatile. Glad I changed my mind on this one - it's a gem.

What are people talking about when they say that this is that same as Le Male?! it is very different, more of an all year scent, you could even maybe get away with this in the summer, unlike with Le Male. the openeing is totally different, there is a blast of sour grapefruit with some vanilla and then pink pepper, it then graducates to lavander, vanilla and vetyver, still retaining some of the grapefruit, it gives Le Male a fresher and more lively feel, streanght, longevity and sillage are just as good as the original Le Male, this is always my choice for daytime wear, i see this as more suited to the day, original Le Male is more suited to night wear when compared to this

I'm a bit disappointed by this to say the least. Sure it's a very nice scent, sure the more lemonny and peppery opening make this new Le Male a bit "sharper" than the original, but basically this feels like nothing more than a lame upgrade to the original Le Male. Nothing spectacular, nothing realy "terrible". Maybe my expectations were too high, but I'll stick to the original If you realy want a more raw, animalistic and "terrible" interpretation of Le Male, I would suggest buying 212 Sexy instead of Le Male Terrible.

They should have never ever discontinued this one, much like FDM it’s a bold masterpiece from maybe the best house of the entire 2000’s. It’s a beautiful incarnation of the Le Male backbone. Smooth mix of sexy spice, fresh summerfruit - but like someone said ”balmy”. Perfectly balancing deep vanillic sweetness with uplifting fresh notes. Unique today. You will NOT find this type fragrance profile in 2023 no matter if you shop designer, niche or arabic. Only the original Le Male kind of has the same feel.

For some reason, it plays great with my skin , my bottle was "opened" many years ago , because I got it from another collector but it still has around 8 hours of longevity. Love it , prefer it to the original Le male all day every day. Great opening , project heavy for the first 1 hour. I had a compliment from a person who was 4 feet away from me and that was outdoor. Versatility - year round, it may be avoided only in high heat. If it wasn`t discontinued It would be my top reach for everyday use. 10/10

I adore this!! its similar to the origional le male but replaces the cool minty opening with a blast of sharp grapefriut and lemon, which get warmed up by the pink pepper, the heart and base is very much le male but stronger, spicier and much sexier, its so warm and something you just cant get enough of, this is definatley going to be the next fragrance i buy! plus you can enjoy le male with this ine without smelling like everyone else as its got a twist unlike all of the summer editions released

This one brings a fresh citrus opening to the sweet bubblegum DNA of Le Male. The freshness of the lavender, and the sparkling grapefruit bring great balance to the sweetness, and make it a more serious, year around version of the fragrance. It still has about 80% of the Le Male DNA, but mixed with 20% fresh grapefruit-lavender barbershop mix. But the best part is the performance, which is far better than the current versions of Le Male. If you can find it, don't hesitate to grab it.

i have had Le Male Terrible and Le Male original for some time now .. but have lately started to prefer Le male Terrible...reason being - the original has started giving me headaches .. just with two sprays ...i love it .. but i can't wear it. i have been layering both of late - one spray of le male and a few of terrible . The drydown of LMT ... is yummmmm ... close to the skin ...yes... but still yummm...

If you bought this expecting it to be different from the original, just return it now. I have both and have tried them both on each pulse point at the ame time. It is virtually the same. The only minor difference maybe in the opening where Terrible has a little bit more added spice to it and comes across ever so slightly fresher. Not that anyone will actually notice. Buy the original, or this. Not both.

I love Le Male. Since original, Fleur du Male, summer editions, special editions and this one is no exception. I want to have this scent. The only missing in my collection. It is exceptionally good in all aspects. Note that there are clearly some differences from the original. For me, Le Male is a timeless scent in any of its variants. Sets the triumphant masculinity. LE MALE 4EVER.

I am a big fan of the original Le Male fragrance. After the release of Fleur du Male that smells ( in my opinion) too feminine, I was little afraid of what I was ordering. I have to say that I was "OK" with it for the first day, but it totally "grew" on me. Every time I wear it, somebody compliments on it and it stays on forever. This one is for sure one of my favorites. :)

Really glad I picked this up. A soapy version of le male. In addition to the citrusy/peppery opening, I keep smelling a pleasant pine note which in the colder weather is reminiscent of the holiday seasons. Then it mellows down to a soapy version of le male. Superior longevity/projection when compared to current formulations of original Le Male. Nice.

Own an older bottle of this one which has now for sure been reformulated, reading the latest reviews! The older version is certainly lasting quite a long time and is, as said by others already, less cloying and more citrus-spicy than the original which is sweeter, louder and cloying. Thumbs up for the older version of LM Terrible! Rating: 7.5/10

I've had a sample of LMT yesterday..almost the same base notes like if someone smells it after 20 minutes on me he'll recognize it as an original Le Male..Grapefruit is really noticeable at first..then it turns into LM..thought it's sharper,younger,and more spicy..deserves a try.. longevity and silage are both very good. Same brilliance by JPL.

Good scent, but poor marketing with the name. Never really liked the original Le Male - too potent for me. Love Ultra Male (or course it's powerful too) but too heavy to be worn in the summer. But this one seems just right for the spring and summer. If they just named it Le Male Sport it might have been a hit.

"Le Male Sport" would indeed have been a good name for this one. Most of the scent is the original's DNA, with the grapefruit freshening it up a tad and modernizing it. I'd say it's a fresher, more contemporary take on the original, one that's better suited for warmer weather.

I love this fragrance. I don't care how many flankers, and how old and tired it gets over the years. It is still "LE MALE". I love the scent and I ALWAYS get compliments when I wear this one. I really enjoy this flanker, a slight twist from the original.

Original version of Le Male is not so fresh like this one, still has the longevity. I think JPG for men, although packaged seasonally, the scent is not so far from original. I think this is my favourite from so many

I like this one better than the original. It's not quite as harsh to me and more smooth. It may not have the same projection and silliage as the original, but that's not always a bad thing. 8.5/10

Personally I think this has that sour smell, unlike the original Le Male which is sweeter. But I guess it's just new product called terrible. I still like the original.

Most underrated JPG IMO. The grapefruit and pepper combo just adds that extra component. This stuff is also a beast that last all day and projects like crazy

My favourite flanker, the added citrus notes bring it to life for me. Got it on a heavy discount and love it at that price (just below €50).

Sweet sweet lavender... I love it! Smells soapy, but really good. Nice, soft, i don't get why "terrible". Not versatile (I think)

Unappreciated fragrance right here. Nice fresh twist on le male. Spicy, and just down right beautiful with the le male dna.

Better than the original IMO... more modern and versatile, and the grapefruit opening is so much nicer...

The original le male is one of my most loved frags. It’s sweet, elegant and cozy. Ultra male is another loved frag. Ultra male to me is a stronger more intense le male with added sexiness and a bubblegum vibe to it. As I feel le male is more wearable and more divers so I do wear it more then ultra male but I like ultra male just a bit more. But it’s louder more goddy. Le male terrible is a wonderful flanker. I was really excited to purchase this because of the notes and reviews and because it’s been discontinued. I was lucky to find a brand new 125ml bottle. Now when I first got this the first thing... like with most flankers I grabbed two shirts and have each one a couple sprays from each frag. Now at very first to me nose they actually smelled absolutely identical. I was actually like wtf!!! To my surprise i couldn’t detect any differences at all. I got frustrated tbh. A few hours later I came back and smelled both shirts and boom. They smelled so so so different actually completely different. So the next day I decided to wear both one on one arm and vice versa. And I can say that these fragrances are just as different as they are similar. I’m still not sure why the first time I smelled it it smelt identical ? I read one review say it could have been called le male sport. And I would agree I’d add extreme le male sport extreme!! While the original is creamy slightly woody with mint vanilla lavender! This ones bitter very slightly peppery. It does smell slightly like lemale but with a truly shining add on of grapefruit and pink pepper. This is not creamy or slightly woody. This frag also changes. When first sprayed it’s smells more like the origainl but the top notes pop. Mid dry down the basnotes and midnotes shine. At the very end the base notes fade away and your left with top notes again a slightly peppery kinda sporty grapefruit. I think if this fragrance had been released this year or last it would have done well. I think it does have its place in the flanker line up. If your a fan of le male. Track one of these down. I am happy with this. If I had to choose which I prefer the original would get the edge as it’s just more comforting in a way more familliar if that makes sense.

I have to respectfully disagree with those who say this is a cold weather clubbing fragrance. I personally gravitate to it during crisp, sunny spring or early summer days. I smell little more than a dry, somewhat spicy lavender floating on a very sweet vanilla. This is one of my "fun" frags, and I'm a 40 yr old who doesn't do much clubbing these days. Quick story - went out today to get a backup bottle. Saw like 5 cans on the shelf, so I thought there was no chance they would sell out while I was clothes shopping. Tried on some clothes, settled on a sport coat and some slacks, and wandered over to shoes . as I'm browsing, a man walked past me carrying 4 cans of the Terrible. I asked "are you buying all of those?" He said he was. I asked if there was any left. He said that he's buying it all. I said I came in for a can, it's what I'm wearing now.... He pondered the situation, and gave me a can. One of the last decent men happens to be a le Male Terrible lover. I can count on one hand with fingers left over how many frags i love, and this is one of them. And, as of today, its the only frag I have an unopened backup bottle of in the drawer as well. 7/10 EDIT: Funny how tastes change - I built up my wardrobe a bit and this one got shoved to the back of the drawer. I long ago returned my back up bottle for a refund, and just traded my barely used bottle for a backup bottle of Pour Monsieur Concentree. Nothing personal against this fragrance, I think I'm just more into more old school (or old man) fragrances.

Ok, I never like to write reviews, because everyone has different opinions on scents, and with the older JPG line, they're very hit or miss. I bought an original sealed can, from before 2012, simply to complete my collection. When I first smelt this it was the most repulsive and salty/metallic scent I had ever gotten. I had sworn that it was just a spoiled bottle that likely got left in the sun for years. Because of how bad it initially was, it sat on the very bottom, back shelf of my collection. After almost 5 months of forgetting about it, I was reminded of it's existence, and went back to see if it was as bad as I remembered. To my surprise and shock, it became one of the nicer Le Males that I own. A spin on the original for sure, it's a peppery, almost barbershop scent. Powdery in that initial dry down, it became a pleasant scent that I would definitely grab before the original Le Male. Would i chose this as a crowd pleaser? Absolutely not. It's something to be worn by someone a little older, but compared to what I first got? Mounds of difference. Worthy to be back with my other JPGs but not something for every day. It's still crisp, clean, and unique, and through the miracle of a change, it's wearable for sure. If you have the same issue with the metallic scent, just give it some time, maybe forget about it like I did. Come back for it when it's ready, it could be your favorite if you like the OG formulation of Le Male.

I love the original Le Male, and I had to get this one, as well. I also love grapefruit, so how could I resist this juice? The opening is citrusy, and I can really smell the pink pepper, too. Then, it dries down to sweet lavender and vanilla. It has less of the "dirtiness" of the original Le Male, which I think was given by the caraway note, or something. It was a dusty, almost sweaty and woody accord that was perfect in the fragrance, but that I could do without. This juice is somewhat lighter and sweeter. It doesn't project as much as his big brother. I can kind of smell grapefruit in the drydown, too, which is a nice twist. I still absolutely love the original Le Male, and will keep wearing it, but I'm glad I've got this one as well. I actually agree with those who've said they detect a liquorice-like kind of accord. This is less powdery than the original, and dare I say, even sexier in some respects. By the way, I know that quite a few reviewers have mentioned a sweaty/saliva note in this fragrance. Personally, I'm extremely sensitive to BO, and I don't detect the slightest hint of sweat or saliva in this. It smells very clean to me. Also, a word of warning... this might not last long or project much on skin, but on clothes it lasts much longer, and projects like crazy. I recommend two sprays maximum if you spray it on your clothes, or it will become cloying.

This is a discontinued gem. Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male Terrible I got a series of sample vials about a year ago and enjoyed it. After I got an Amazon gift card from a friend and co-worker, I used part of that and my total balance for it. I didn't get the traditional Le Male bottle, rather the flask bottle variant which was the best value. Le Male Terrible is a basically a brighter Cuba Gold and a brighter take on Le Male. The grapefruit and pink pepper makes it have a bright open. Cuba Gold has the same notes in the open, but it isn't as bright and more Le Male like. As this dries down, it goes into a traditional Le Male direction. Le Male Terrible doesn't have cinnamon, as an official note, but it is the lavender/cinnamon mix of Le Male in the mid. The base is Le Male vanilla. Like Le Male, I find Le Male Terrible as a beast lasting 12 hours and projects rather strong. Le Male Terrible I think is nearly four season. I don't think it is great for a summer wearing, but if it is cooler summer days, you might be able to pull it off. It is perfect for day and night wearings. Le Male Terrible should be brought back. I think it is a quiet banger. I rate Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male Terrible a 8.5 out of 10 with the big hit being the Jean Paul Gaultier pricing.

It might feel a bit strange to review a flanker like Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male Terrible without ever using the classic "father of all JPG fragrances" first. However, this is the exact scent that sparked my interest in the JPG lineup. When I first got my hands on it, it gave off this scent that reminded me of sweat on a slightly synthetic fabric, and I immediately wrote it off thinking, "Okay, this is definitely not for me." But later, when I gave it another shot out in the open air, I was just like, "Wow!" The way the underlying notes scream at you from the base, combined with that raw, sharp sweetness and the calming effect of lavender, makes it glaringly obvious that this is a very unique blend. I happily used up my 40 ml bottle. The projection is top-tier; it easily wafts through the air and grabs compliments without effort. I’d always heard that JPG fragrances have a loud, "screaming" nature, and this one definitely got its fair share of that DNA. The perfume is named Terrible, but while it is indeed a distinct and unconventional scent, it absolutely makes you attractive. It’s definitely a fragrance I’m going to miss.

This fragrance smells really good. It's spicier and more gritty than the original, which I personally think the original is a little too sweet. I do, however, think the original is more well blended than this one, as I find the spiciness of Le Male Terrible to be slightly off putting. The longevity and sillage on my skin is amazing. I sprayed it twice and I smelled it all day, 10+ hours. I don't understand how some reviews say this could have been called a "sport" flanker of the original; Le Male Terrible is WAY too heavy to be a sport flanker, and I'd hardly call it fresh either. I get a very slight freshness in the opening, but after about 5 minutes it's vanilla and spices the rest of the way. That's my main complaint about this fragrance, is that it isn't very versatile. Like I said at the beginning of my review, the smell is great; but I can only see myself wearing this on cold nights out with friends or clubbing, which I don't do very often anymore. Overall 7.5/10
