Scandal Gold

Warning: There are a lot of fakes of these going around, especially on ebay. The biggest giveaways that they are fakes are that the fake ones have a plastic lightweight "leg cap" and the real ones are metal and heavier. Also the cardboard in the fake boxes is super thin and papery while the real ones are thick/normal. Also the "Scanadal" lettering on the bottle is smaller, isn't centered, or aligned properly on the fake bottles. Also the fake bottles have what smells like a cheap knockoff of the By Night flanker minus cherry note that vanishes after 30 min - they smell nothing like the real Gold flanker at all. And now for the review of the REAL scent... SO surprising and delightful! I slept of this flanker for awhile. but I'm glad i finally got a bottle! It isn't what I expected at all - It's very different from the original Scandal and By Night, different enough that you can get this if you already have one of those. I assumed this would be a rich oud with a heavy scandal honey note, the idea of the combo almost make me feel a bit sick just to think about, but I'm not sure I really even notice the oud here... To me, this is a very pretty lightly sweetened ROSE scent. I'm usually not very into rose scents, the only one I truly loved enough to own was Tresor Nude. Gold is stunning though and I've been falling more and more in love with it with every sniff. I now have 2 rose scents, what a joy! The spicy saffron and cardamom notes almost remind me a bit of the ginger cardamom notes in Versaces Crystal Noir, just with a different and much more subtle and crowd pleasing florals in Gold than the strong attention-commanding aquatic florals in Crystal Noir. I do not notice heavy amounts leather. The sandalwood and patchouli are so subtle and well blended I can't exactly tell they're there either, I'd say the patchouli is even more invisible in this flanker than any of the others. I dislike patchouli but for some reason it never bothers me in the Scandal line. The overall vibe of Gold is fresh and clean, intoxicatingly sweet and spicy, subtle and pretty, in that order. The scent is different enough from the original Scandal that if you weren't a fan of it, you may enjoy sampling this flanker. The scent lasts a pretty long time (overnight if spraying before bed) and mostly projects to about an arms reach. It won't choke out people across the room to you, but once you get close and get a whiff, you just want to get closer and keep smelling. It smells like a very expensive and well performing fragrance. No icky alcohol or cheap noxious notes at all. It could definitely be it's own scent rather than a flanker. I imagine a lot of "traditional" designer perfume fans would like this. I've been saying for awhile that JPG scents just have better chemistry with my body and always transform into a unique expensive intoxicating scent on me, and this one is no exception. I'll be keeping it in my collection as long as I can!

This is a masterpiece oriental chypre, very unisex to my nose and more suited to nights and Autumn/Winter wear. That said, it is a 'mood' fragrance. I'll wear it at night and through colder months, but sometimes when the mood for Scandal Gold hits like today, nothing else will do. When she calls you, you damn well better answer. Reminds me slightly of Stash by SJP in the opening minutes but not nearly as animalic as Tyger Tyger by Francesca Bianchi in the dry down. On my skin, it is a perfect blend of honey and leather in the sense that leather dominates and honey sweetly softens it like a lover's kiss. Good God, it's beautiful. If you are a fan of leather you should try this regardless of gender. Rose starts to shine after about 30 minutes. Jasmine is thankfully very muted and serves only to flaunt that gentle rose note. Leather remains dominant. Longevity and silage are strong with this gal so go easy on the trigger. An easy 12-hour wear or longer with no need to reapply.

This was a blind buy, as it was a great price on tk maxx, and I didn't want it to slip through my fingers. I'm glad I bought it. At first, it wasn't what I was expecting, and I almost regretted it, but once it settles down, it's a beautiful fragrance. First spray the saffron and cardamon hit you, super spicy, this settle down, and the sweetness of the honey comes through, I don't get much of the mid notes, after about 30 min the sandalwood and patchouli come into play, add some woodyness. This is a sweet, soft floral/woody fragrance, beautifully balanced, very different from the other scandals. I've gotten compliments from it, it's long lasting and has great silliage

I saw this in a perfume shop here in Baghdad a while ago and I thought this must be a fake Scandal as I never heard of Scandal gold in the fragrance community, then couple of days later I read that this is exclusive only in middle east I was so happy! I received this 2 days ago and it's amazing , very attractive , alluring and sexy ! Scandal Dna is still there but the rose note and Saffron ! Wow ! What a beautiful & smart combination that gave Scandal that middle Eastern vibe ! Longevity around 6 hours , love this !

I tried this as soon as it was launched in Qatar and I decided I have to own it yesterday! yes it leans on the feminine side but I can see it as a male fragrance too. It starts with delicious honey and saffron with a hint of cardamom then it settles into a floral/sandalwood kinda scent ... stays delicious the whole time! Projection and longevity are OK... nothing monstrous but not bad either. it has something in common with Soleil Brulant by Tom Ford I feel ... perhaps the honey... LOVE IT!

Oh, what a pleasant surprise! The cardamom and a pinch of patchouli against the honey and oud give enough freshness that it is not heavy or cloying and sandalwood and leather smooth everything out. The flowers are here, but are not dominant... they just make a perfect blend with all the other notes, nothing sticks out and the longevity and sillage are perfect! No funky drydown either. I love it!

I live in the Middle East and got this perfume from Faces online beauty store. I would describe it as the middle eastern version of "Scandal," whereby saffron and leather notes are added to the original composition. I'm not a fan of both notes, but they are perfectly blended with the honey note. All in all, I'm very happy to have this perfume in my collection! :-)

Everyone is sleeping on this! I love ❤️ it. Delicious, strong lasts. It was initially introduced in the Middle East not many people are discussing this, but I will tell you in my opinion it’s fantastic.

i love leather and i love honey- finally my two most favourite notes are united in one perfume in a gorgeous bottle. sold. this is a no brainer. i don't even need to smell it.

This is not Middle East exclusive anymore. It's available on the official German JPG website and I guess some other countries will have it, too. Scandal Gold is a nice scent that is barely similar to the original Scandal. It has an intense honey note, yes, but that's about the only thing these two have in common. To my nose it's not even the same honey note, this one feels less sticky than the honey in the first EDP, so I like it much better. Due to the saffron, leather and cypriol, the perfume has a bit of an oud effect, a sharp, bitter woodsiness mixed with rose. The opening has slightly animalic touch, but that vanishes very quickly. Honey tames the sharpness, and then the jasmine and ylang become more noticeable and add some airy femininity to the scent. The drydown is lovely. Even though this is labeled as an EDP Intense I actually find it a little less intense than the original EDP. Which is a good thing in this case. It's a very wearable take on the dear old rose and saffron/oud combo mixed with floral honey. Not too dry, but not too sticky-sweet either. This is my second favorite Scandal after the light and fresh A Paris version. I'm not completely in love, for some reason I don't feel any sparks flying here even though it smells very good... But it's definitely worth a try.

I had a sample of this when it first came out and it smelled so disgusting and mature to me it literally made me gag Then i lost that sample then found it after a couple of years. I sprayed it just to see and OMG it smelled completely different Now it smells extremely well blended and nice i can’t really detect any specific notes in here but I can smell the honey a lot in this and that leather note gives it an expensive quality but it’s in the background not really obvious Its so strong spraying more that one spray gave me a major headache

Scandal Gold is a reincarnation of an 80's Chypre Floral. It's daring and inviting à la Scherrer 2 or Nino Cerruti Pour Femme. The kind of sexy "fall/winter" perfume that turns heads and fills up a room. I mostly get the sweetness of honey, woodiness of Sandalwood and spiciness of Cardamom wrapped in a sheer floral cover. The fact that it was sold exclusively in the Middle East makes me extra happy to have been able to find it here in the United Kingdom. P.S. Younger audience, steer clear of this one.

This scent was a limited edition and got discontinued pretty quickly so if you encounter any „new”/„unused” bottle online it’s very likely a dupe. Bought original from JPG website back in 2021 because of all the extra samples and curiosity really, I’ve used it maybe 3 times, ended up giving it away to my sister. I would probably keep it if not this prominent jasmine note. Overbearing. But it might be me. I’m not good with anything that has any jasmine notes 🤣

Scandal Gold leans feminine but is unisex. Longevity 8 hours + Stays on clothes for days The honey radiates a leathery sweet honey with a pinch of cardamom. I typically dislike patchouli fragrances but to me, this Scandal was a surprise. I don't find the woody notes offensive at all. To me, this would be winter signature scent worthy since it's not so widely known in the USA. I'm surprised this is a heavy like for me.

I got to smell this one today and did not love it. The opening was kind of pretty and I had hope it would dry down into something good but it quickly turned very woodsy, more than I like. If I smelled it on someone, I think I would enjoy it, but it leans pretty masculine to me and I just get WOOD. After an hour or so, the wood began to calm a little and I noticed the leather. This leather base was more enjoyable than all that strong wood, but still not for me. Definitely not a safe blind buy.

the top notes start off good and immediately fizzes away to reveal the strength of the middle and base notes. i'm not the biggest fan of oud and with the cypriol oil taking over - guaranteed i'm not a fan of this perfume either. one thing i will commend is its staying power. i'm pretty sure this survived 24 hours and a shower. even though i dislike this, i can understand why people praise this version of scandal. if you like oud in general, you'll like this one.

I was extremely excited about going to BUY the latest Scandal flanker, SCANDAL GOLD. Buy. READY to love her at first spray. ALL. IN. My friend watched w/anticipation as I was sprayed 2 generous sprays, then took several deep inhalations. At first sniff, I got...okaaaay... hmmmm...(friend says at this point, "You like heavy scents...") I do. Nose going back-and-forth to wrist ( every 10 seconds now)...meanwhile, I'm suggesting "lighter" fragrances to my friend. After about 42 minutes, I get....BARNYARD!! NONE of the notes listed appeared. Ever! No jasmine/ golden honey/rose essences w/sandalwood spiced w/saffron. Definitely no saffron! I was getting dirty musc, & animal smells on the tail end of the fragrance. So, that would explain the leather, but...DANGGIT, I wanted to love this! The salesman kept trying to convince me it was because I'd previously applied lotion - 3 hours earlier - mmmmmaybe, but, SCANDAL GOLD was not for me. Today. I may give it another shot next time, but I would have been THOROUGHLY pissed had I purchased it thinking it'd be better at home. To lick my wounds, I purchased Narciso AMBRE & SCANDAL original & lotion. (you know...to FEEL better!!) My friend bought Narciso FLEUR MUSC on my recommendation. "It is what it is." (I'm going to try again, tho!) 🙈😈

I can’t wait to try this as I love Scandal, and being Middle Eastern, I do enjoy sweet, floral ‘Oud’ compositions. You may be wondering why I mentioned Oud when it’s not even listed as a note. That’s because Cypriol oil (or Nagarmotha) is very similar to Oud, and it is often used as a cheaper (and milder) alternative to Oud in the perfume world. A lot of fragrances that claim to contain Oud, may actually have just used Cypriol oil. So if you can’t stand Oud, you’re probably not going to like this one. One of the reviewers below was in shock at the ‘barnyard’ smell...lol...yup, that’s the Cypriol Oil. I need to try this one ASAP.

Smelled this without knowing the notes and to me this one is a decent sandalwood. Its rose jasmine combined with the sandalwood accord makes a fleeting reminder of Dior's underrated J'adore Touche de Parfum but the Dior's has more depth, creamier, and sometimes a waxy feel due to a touch of yellow florals. Scandal Gold is drier, the hay-like quality of saffron intermingled with something medicinal without being overtly "oud-y": that turns out to be nagarmotha, also known colloquially as diet oud. The honey is understated and not annoyingly sweet.
