What can I say about Scandal pour Homme? Well, what is scandalous is the number of compliments I receive with this fragrance... As simple as that. I don't know how the hype for this doesn't reach the stars - maybe the famous reviewers don't go out at night anymore - because the results in me are frankly scandalous: Pretty much every woman I meet gives me at least one compliment. It might smell especially good on me, but I don't think that's the case. Let's be clear, I'm not a teenager anymore and I don't go out on that plan. Also, I usually wear a suit (more casual, but I like suits, period) and clearly I don't look like a youngster. So let's demystify prejudices: - Some famous reviewers say it's for teens: FALSE. I'm over 40 and I’ve received very positive attention from women under 30, women in their thirties, and women over 40. - Smells great, but it's generic: FALSE. I’ve tried all the new designer fragrances. None have given me anything remotely similar. The key, and this is the real key, is how it smells in the air... This potion is pure magic. - It’s extremely sweet and dense: FALSE. It’s very sweet, especially if you smell it in a tester, but when it dries on the skin the scent has an effect that is close to animalic without being so; it remains clean, sweet, creamy and inviting. In addition, the tangerine induces a considerable freshness that lasts a long time. Fragrance details: Above-average projection, with a heavy trail and great longevity: The performance doesn’t disappoint. Excellent. ... What else do you want? Do you also pretend it to change your life or revolutionize the world? Age: Well, I already talked about that. Unisex? Although a woman can wear it, it isn’t a scent that I would recommend at all: There’re much better options for them. Occasions? For me, this is a perfume that I see exclusively for cocktail parties, clubbing and date nights. Contrary to what many reviewers say, I see it more striking in well-dressed men, not in adolescents (for them I also think there’re better proposals). So only twilight or night... That’s all. I wouldn’t wear this perfume on any other occasion. Finally: You can already read the notes of the fragrance, there is nothing special about them apparently. But listen, it gets addictive... And in my case, the effect is scandalous (like that inspired song by Prince).

Idk if its cuz mine had time to macerate (somehow) but im picking up less caramel and mandarin than before and being hit more with the clary sage and mandarin on the nose but then it quickly evolves into clary sage side which is this earthy dirty green dull rounded scent which i love , it reminds me of wet forest dirt( not the petrichor , just the dirt) with a few old leaves mixed in ,still lightly citrus but more a dull round citrus not a sharp super clean citrus , caramel comes out with the help of the tonka a few hours or mins later and it gives this dark chocolate caramel scent and i really do mean dark like 85% or more chocolate,can still smell strongly the clary sage strong which honestly amidsts the sniffs of caramel dark chocolate is a good evolution and also makes this perfume unique compared to scandal pour homme absolu (which smells like one of the golden le beaus or one of the one millions)which is more on the spiced woody caramelized side pulling on nutty too which isnt bad and honestly the nut makes it unique compared to the examples i gave but realistically no one is gonna notice unless theyre sniffing u constantly,anyways the caramel feels dirty-musky-green slightly citrus like an orange reduction but really reduced not like a chocolate orange, i dont recall much of the vetiver other than it being a skin scent and rather nice and iirc clary sage a little bit in the middle too lol. -Honestly, this fragrance alongside philosykos edp made me fall back into the world of perfumery , its unique even tho most describe/reduce it to just a caramel scent , its not just that but also aromatic in a way i found unique for the menswear side of fragrances,tho it really reads off as ``im a 20-something year old and i got daddys credit card and a trust fund but im also a little skanky`` but in the good way, its a shame its flankers/ ́ ́ concentrated ``versions``(can we even call them that ?since they barelyb share any notes) fail at being as exotic as this one , they all seem to fall under the playing it safe area for mens fragrances (Woody, spiced wood, aromatic but not strong enough), so yeah this one i give it a 8.5/10, not 10/10 cuz it can come off as a bit too youngish and or headachey if sprayed too much.

I am pretty late to the party when it comes to this newer JPG line, but I am very glad I finally gave it a try! I am old school when it comes to fragrance purchases and always start with the original before diving into the flankers. The opening is an homage to Le Male, you get a blast of green leafy sage that takes a twist to the mint of Le Male (which I still enjoy wearing to this day). Next comes caramel with warm oriental spices that don't leave the party. It is the base that breaks things up by adding leather, which is resinous and adds a burnt sugar note to the sweet caramelized mid notes still lingering. Longevity and sillage are above average for Eau De Toilette. I easily get 8 hours worth of solid longevity even in this cold MI winter weather! The projection is very strong. While it’s not a room filler, it is still reaching out to about 2 arms lengths for the first 2-3 hours and then drops down to about one arm for the remainder of the 8 hours of fragrance life. I'd like to add - You need to love sweet spice scents to appreciate this fragrance. If you like more traditional masculine scents and fougeres, this may not be for you. Fortunately for me, I can appreciate and wear scent profiles from the 80's, 90's, 00's, as well as the modern sweet stuff! The good thing about being 5 years late to the party on this one is the current price. I picked up the 50ml bottle for around $50 on Fragrance Shop online. For the scent profile, longevity, and presentation, you are getting a great value for the money!

I feel a bit basic for liking this and I don’t know why... Maybe it’s the bottle design, it does come across a bit tacky to me but it’s not that bad. I really do love the scent though, its quite familiar but not in a “I’ve smelt this everywhere" way. To me, it’s a yummy orangey sweet caramel with clary sage freshness, its also ever so slightly tropical, there’s slight remnants of coconut, it almost has that same suntan lotion-y vibe like all the Le beaus, specifically like paradise garden. Here’s a take I’m sure a lot of you won’t agree with but I genuinely believe that this is an all year scent, I would totally rock this in summer (not in blistering heat though) because of the orange citrus note and how light and airy this fragrance comes across I think it can work in average summer heat, thats just my opinion though. Overall I give Scandal a good 8.2/10 Its very yummy, light and airy all while being sweet plus it’s the work of Quentin Bisch, a perfumer that I’m really starting to like. PS. I’m aware Quentin isn’t the only perfumer but this just has his fingerprints all over it.

Scandal. A newer fragrance from the house of Jean-Paul Gautier. I was able to pick up a gift set for $81 AUD and for that price it was an absolute steal. Scandal has a beautiful, rich fragrance that while quite dense, doesn't overpower unless over-applied. Caramel and Tonka Bean are the foundation of the scent profile. Mandarin and Vetiver are present but subtle. I could not detect any sage personally, but as we know smell is subjective. It is similar to Le Male Le Parfum but has its own DNA and could be considered a safer fragrance than Le Male Le Parfum. The bottle is very well constructed and unique in its design with a decent atomizer. Sillage is moderate on my skin, and longevity is decent, but not incredible. I would say 3-5 hours at the most, less in warmer weather. All in all Scandal is a versatile sweet fragrance that would be at home in a number of settings such as day to day wear or going out for dinner and drinks. The only thing that stopped me from giving a higher rating is price, but that being said for an JPG fragrance it could be worse. 8/10
