Ultra Male

To me, the most memorable flanker of the Le Males. Ultramale is a playful, handsome and sweet fragrance that compared to future flankers, has probably the least similarity to the original. Yes, there is Fleur de Male and Essence which are even more distant from the DNA but if Le Male was a movie then Ultramale would definitely be Le Male 2, Le Male Le Parfum would be the 3rd and Elixir the 4th while the others are like spin offs. In summary, you get a pretty linear scent. Opening is a touch of mint with some sweet cinnamon and fruity pear. Although lavender is listed, it is probably the note that contributes the least to the overall scent. When it dries it becomes fizzy and effervescent, to me there's a slight touch of rose and just a smidge of leather. Far dry down becomes a bit dry-woody from the cedar but even then this is overshadowed by the fruitiness and bubblegum vibe. I'm not bashing this btw I absolutely love this fragrance and compared to Eros by Versace I think this more suited for night time use. I bring up Versace Eros because this is always compared to it even though I feel like Eros is more of a playful all rounder while Ultramale is a full on date night, club banger type of a scent. I don't like to cage fragrances into situations though, you can rock this anytime anywhere. And contrary to many opinions I think this is fresh enough for spring and summer days. Why? Because I've encountered people wearing this on summer season and it smells really damn good anyway. Anyhow, I recommend this if you're someone who has their style together and if you have a flirty personality, I don't identify with any of those traits but I love the smell so much idrc if it matches me. Performance is good (7 hours on skin, 1hr of good sillage, moderate projection), but definitely not as good as older batches. I remember owning a vintage bottle which I ran out of and I feel like that one lasted twice as long and was thrice as loud though I actually prefer how these new bottles smell. I'm really sensitive to coumarin and I feel like the original batches were way too overdosed with that aroma chemical. So yeah these newer formulas have a more natural smell definitely. That aside, I would rank this as my 2nd favorite Le Male, 1st being the Elixir and 3rd being Elixir Absolu, 4th place belongs to the original and I absolutely despise the Le Parfum because for some reason it smells really sour on me and it lasts a measly 2 hours. I wanna take this opportunity to talk trash about Le Male Le Parfum just because I've smelt it on other people and it is just so bad idk why people glaze it but alr. 9/10.

You can’t deny it — this DNA has the world in a chokehold. They discontinued it, people lost their minds, and by popular demand it was dragged right back from the grave. There’s a reason it’s the most-duped men’s fragrance on the planet. As far as people calling it feminine? Listen... every JPG fragrance has a little feminine lean. Not just Ultra Male — all of them. Probably because they’re all ultra sweet. Ultra Male actually smells more masculine in the opening, then leans a little feminine in the dry down. Le Beau does the same thing. And it’s not just JPG. We use the same notes in both male and female fragrances, so at some point they’re all going to smell “lovely” to somebody. Even something like Guerlain L’Homme Idéal can lean feminine depending on who you ask. My favorite from JPG is Scandal, because it’s the strongest and the least feminine-leaning. But whatever — with JPG you either love it or you hate it. That’s the game. Now, is there any real reason to spend $100 on Ultra Male? Nope. Unless you’re like me and you want it for comparison, the flex, or the collection. Because honestly, if you already have: • Ramz Silver by Lattafa • Rayhaan Lion • Al Wataniah Attar Al Wesal • Fragrance World Exchange Unlimited ...those are the dupes that actually capture the pear + vanilla DNA. Some of them even last longer. The other so-called dupes? They open with apple or wander off in some weird direction. The real reason I grabbed Ultra Male again was the bottle design — but even that’s kind of played out now. And I’ve had JPG bottles where the atomizer barely spit anything out, like it was dehydrated. So let’s be real: You’re mostly paying for the torso and the can. Or... hear me out: Spend $15 on Lattafa Ramz Silver, get the right pear and vanilla, save $100, and buy two 1-oz silver eagles with the money you didn’t burn. In a few years when that silver doubles, the fragrance basically paid for itself. That’s smelling good and investing smart. At the end of the day, there are only a few scents I genuinely respect — the ones I want in both the OG and every solid dupe. Ultra Male is one of those. It may not be one of my go-to daily wears like Mancera Red Tobacco, Boss Bottled Elixir, or Scandal Absolu, but let’s be honest — Ultra Male was, and still is, a major influence in the fragrance world. That’s just facts. People can hate on it all they want... It doesn’t change its impact, and it never will.

Revisiting this after discovering it has been discontinued brings back a plethora of memories. I recall being incredibly young, and my mother giving me money for my trip to Washington, D.C so I could return with some merchandise. Obviously, a young and fragrance-obsessed teenager took advantage of this and immediately when I arrived, I found a Macy’s and tried to scandal my way into discounting Ultra Male just enough so I could have: 1. Enough money to eat 2. Enough to get the smallest piece of merchandise possible Somehow, I succeeded through the help of coercive measures (I went around asking if anyone had a Macy’s membership card and convinced them I would add credit). I got a 4.2 oz bottle of it, and immediately fell in love. I remember bringing a whole bottle of Versace Eros and the instant I smelled Ultra Male; I quite literally gave my Eros away for free to the first person who would take it. I’d say Ultra Male was my first anosmic awakening, and I became incredibly acquainted with the scent, wearing it to essentially any event that allowed me to be eccentric and uncomposed. Hearing that this has been discontinued is truly disheartening because this was really the last good true Jean Paul Gaultier fragrance, with the exception of Le Male Le Parfum. Get it while you can, it really is THE party beast. And goodness, it lasts a damn while. A whole day later I was wearing Caron because my nose has become a little more aristocratic and I’ve stopped being able to tolerate screechy, cloying scents, and I smelled something super sweet and spicy. It smelled like vanilla extract with cinnamon rolls. I then immediately recalled spraying on Ultra Male the night before, and it became apparent. Wonderful scent! It was also made by Maison Francis Kurkdijan, who made Baccarat Rouge 540. Pretty cool.

Buy it. Because it represents the single moment this brand decided to try. Treasure it. They probably will not do this again. This is exactly how I imagined Gilderoy Lockhart smelled when I was reading Harry Potter. This fragrance has large pictures of its own face surrounding it, all winking and flashing dazzlingly white teeth. This fragrance wears forget-me-not blue robes. This fragrance wrote an autobiography called Magical Me and saw nothing wrong with that. This fragrance is a 7.5/10. Solid. Dependable. Nothing revolutionary. But, when you consider the state of this brand's other releases; the reformulated disasters, the flanker fatigue, the transparently cash-grabby juice that smells like focus-grouped mediocrity; this 7.5 transforms into a 10 by comparison. Avoid in: Job interviews, funerals, meeting the in-laws, the gym, anywhere fluorescent lighting exists, and you need to be taken seriously. P.S. If you're a female and curious about Ultra Male, stop being curious and just buy it. The sweetness that some men find 'too much' on themselves will likely sit perfect on you. Rules are for folk who need them.

ultra male is one of the greatest scents of all time perfectly executed and well put, sensational mastery. the blueprint of your favourite fruity scents. i am in love with the scent and all of its qualities. the pear and lavender make me wanna date this fragrance, pure gorgeous. people actually smell this btw unlike pretty much 80 percent of the fragrances on the market, i just love how something like this simple mix can be so attractive. i also have a huge personal connection with the scent it was my first designer and now the only designer i want in my life i would trade every fragrance in my collection for a 200ml bottle i am not kidding, soapy fruity goodness. projects impressively (good very above average) lasts like for atleast a day on my skin and weeks on my clothes. if i had one scent for life it would be this. something about its aura makes it soooo masculine and not at all feminine, i cried on the day it got discontinued, please buy the dupes so that i can buy more of this in the near future even if they cant fully replicate this kingly fragrance. 11/10

I blind-bought this, never having smelled it before. I had only tried Afnan 9PM on paper, and I liked it, especially the spicy vanilla drydown. Since I don’t want to collect too many clones in my collection, I decided to go with the OG. I bought it blind because it’s more exciting for me in this hobby. When it arrived today, my expectations were high, but to be honest, I was a little disappointed. The opening was a blast of sweetness that reminded me of some cheap clone, like Hawas OG or Ice — I thought, “hell no.” But after about an hour, the drydown started to emerge, and that saved the fragrance. It’s not bad, but I feel it’s more suited for younger people, like 18 or younger in high school. I’m 27, and this feels too young for me. I’ll let it macerate for a couple of days and wear it at the office with 2–4 sprays, yeah office because nobody can really tell you where to wear a fragrance if you use it responsibly. So I recommend trying it before you buy it, to avoid ending up in the same situation I did.

Over the years, Ultra Male grew on me more. This is one of those releases that I would argue started the overused trend of sweet & loud in men's fragrances. I must say that I'm not really a fan of vanilla/sweet heavy fragrances unless they're done right: I've found too many recent drops that are simply headache-inducing, Le Male Elixir was a blind-buy and I sold it after a month, way too sweet for me. Le Male Le Parfum was smoother yes, but still gave me a headache. Ultra Male is just enough sweetness and vanilla without being cloying to my nose, while projecting well. I totally see the bubblegum note reviewers suggest exists, this is a vanilla pear bubblegum scent. The cinnamon comes out here as well and gives it that spicy sweetness again without annoying me. I don't pick up on anything else really if I'm being honest. Ultra male is another reminder of how good that early JPG releases were. I don't see myself buying the new releases, because this one is fantastic. Still an 8.8/10 for me.

If you look at the first reviews posted when this came out in June of 2015. You’ll see reviews saying this is a great summer fragrance. Some even say the performance was terrible. 1hr of projection and then a 4-5 hr skin scent. Some say it’s a beast. So whenever someone praises the BPI over the Puig they are full of shit. If you look at the first reviews of any fragrance you’ll see the same. Yet somehow once a fragrance house gets sold to a new distributor or its discontinued people praise the fragrance especially the so called original formula. Another one is how it’s only for cold weather and you’d be crazy to wear in the summer. So why even sell most fragrances in South Florida? 1 million for instance is probably the most used fragrance in the hot humid climate of Miami. My point is that All YouTube content creators and most reviews on here are full of shit. Wear what you want when you want. Note: Ultra Male has always been called an Eau De Toilette “Intense”

Absolutely amazing attention grabbing scent. Personally, I feel like you can wear this day or night, hot or cold, just adjust sprays as needed. Maybe not appropriate for office use. Otherwise, its a sweet yummy bubble gum/cotton candy scent that's pretty linear but in a good way. I will also add two things. 1) I typically dont buy into the whole clones being 1 to 1, but ive owned both this and 9pm and I genuinely can't tell the difference. Ultra male does feel more high quality but it may be a placebo effect knowing the price. Blind spray both, I cant tell which is which, so if you wanna save some cash grab 9pm. Otherwise, this one is definitely worth it. 2) Never owned the old Spain batches, mine is a newer 2024 France batch, and the performance on this is still great. Lasts all day, so if you're concerned whether the newer ones have poor longevity, they don't. Smell may very between the older ones and newer ones but I can't attest to that.

Fragrance Journal Entry #132 This fragrance belongs on the Mt. Rushmore of MFK creations. This is an absolute masterpiece that is STILL to this day the king of clubbing fragrances. I think people nowadays tend to write this one off, not because of how long ago it came out but because how long ago they started collecting...let me explain...the majority of collectors today started within the last 5 years which means they have likely already smelled a clone of this or one of the dozens of fragrances that have used Ultra Male for inspiration which means by the time they fork over the cash to grab this it feels like "more of the same". To be clear this is the best bubblegummy sweet fragrance ever created and the only JPG fragrance worth actually owning, skip the clones grab this instead. From the moment i smelled this i was mind blown, a certified chick magnet fellas. Rating: 10/10 Blind Buy Safe? YES

I remember the hype about this frag back in the YT golden era days 2016-2017 (Jeremy Fragrance) Nearly coming out of my teens I needed a sweet bubble gum vibe youth frag for partying, one million was over used. This is certainly a party/ night time fun fragrance so keep this in mind, it will turn a head in the wrong setting, alot less powdery in the opening compared to 9pm which is why I love this, the opening is a burst of sweetness, I would go easy on the sprays as it can be overdone very easily, the dry down is where the magic happens, like a scented vanilla sweet plum burning slightly on the neck thats dark but says I am still here, it blends perfectly. If your wanting a night to remember, or to go against the grain and be remembered this is it. Longevity 9/10 (prior 2020 batches) Sillage 8/10 (fills a room) projection 9/10 (you will leave a scent trail)

Upon initial application, the fragrance evokes the scent of a creamy lotion applied by a barber during the final stage of a haircut. A few minutes later, notes of bubble gum, vanilla, and a subtle touch of lavender become prominent. In my view, this is a highly appealing composition, particularly for an Eau de Toilette, with longevity and projection that I consider superior to several of my sweeter Eau de Parfum formulations.Overall, it does not convey the vibe of a fragrance suited for partying or clubbing. Additionally, Ultra Male is notably bold and projecting for an Eau de Toilette, often causing people to turn their heads as I pass by while wearing it. The lingering question, however, is whether those glances stem from appreciation of the scent or from finding it somewhat unusual perhaps even peculiar.

Ultra Male is what happens when a person desires to scratch a deep itch to be loud, expressive, and bubbly. As soon as you press down on the atomizer, you get blown away by ripe, juicy pear, sweet bubblegum, and vanilla. This perfume immediately grabs the nearest person and makes them aware of your presence, as it has LOUD sillage and incredible performance (easily 8-10 hours on my skin, longer on clothes). As beautiful and well concocted this fragrance is, overspraying is a sin. Keep the sprays minimal if you’re in an office or at school (my case), but if you’re outside in cold weather or in a club, feel free to make yourself more evident. I overall heavily recommend this fragrance, and while it may not be a sophisticated avant-garde niche, I believe it is still a necessity for any scent-loving collector.

In my opinion, it was the most beautiful Jean Paul Gartier works. Not just about the sweetness, it's making sense like u was in some club/party that u very vibing with that condition. It was highly complimented too, i mean like there will be many people complimenting you because the smell. It was the most worth it fragrance that i have, compared to others. Even thought the price is expensive, but you get the point that it's a nice fragrance. Having strong projection too, that's the reason why it's the most worthest fragrance for me. So many people said, it was better be used at winter and i agree with that opinion. Because if it was summer, little kinda hot to using this, beacuse it was so aromatic. Good too if you using this at ur first date, that's why it was very good fragrance too.

So after owning 9PM and Rayhaan Lion for a while, I finally decided to try the OG. Especially considering the fairly reasonable price you can find this stuff for online now. Oh yeah.... I do discern a difference, particularly in the quality of the naturals in the top notes. People need to keep in mind, Ultra Male is an EDT... and there is, in fact, a bit of freshness here. I think this fragrance is more versatile than people give it credit for. It's not just an obnoxious, clubbing, / f*ck boy fragrance; this is quality stuff. I would wear this to work with no qualms. (Well, not too many.) I love this DNA, which I consider an all-time classic at this point, and still prefer to pretty much all the designer lines that have copied it over the years, and now fill the shelves.

The scent of pear and lavender blends well. I was initially misled by the title “ultra male,” thinking that it would be quite heavy. However, I was wrong. In my opinion, and the people around me , this is a unisex perfume that can be worn by anyone. The sillage is good in the first hour, with decent projection. Longevity? On the skin, it lasts over 12 hours, and on clothes, it can last for days. For that, I'll give it a 9.5/10. Always try it first before buying a full bottle, because this kind of sweetness isn't the type that everyone will love easily. I can’t think of any other perfume like this before. In my opinion, Francis is truly an extraordinary perfumer.

Back in 2017, JPG Ultra Male wasn’t available in Saudi Arabia, and the hype around it was incredibly high. I asked my elder brother to kindly bring it for me from the USA, and he gifted me this fragrance. I still have that same bottle, and I continue to use it to this day. It holds both great memories and outstanding performance. Ultra Male is sweetness done right juicy pear, rich vanilla, and a touch of spice. It’s loud, seductive, and definitely not for the shy guy. This is a true clubbing king, with strong projection and insane longevity. It grabs attention instantly just two to three spray and you’ll fill the entire room. Longevity Excellent

A loud masterclass in mens fragrances. Funny how things work out. I remember the first time I smelled this. Macys in east Lansing. I remember thinking, how can a guy wear this. Fast forward about a year later. Ive got a huge bottle of le parfum. I love it! All my friends and coworkers are buying it after finding out what I was wearing. I went back to Macys. Smelled Ultra male again. I was digging it. A lot... I bought a big one. Now it's my favorite JPG. I rarely wear le parfum. I now prefer Ultra male, for its amazing synthetic loud ass pear note with that sexy cinnamon drydown. Its a banger guys. 9pm sucks. Ramz is the best dupe I've smelled.

I own Afnan 9pm so one wonders as to why i would purchase Ultra Male when sooo many youtubbers claim it's pretty much the same except Afnan possesses a pear note whereas Ultra Male has that distinct apple note. There are similarities no doubt, in fact i sprayed it onto my work shirt so i can smell it whilst writing this review. JPG will always have that slight cutting edge. The projection is great and the girls at work either love it or like it very much. Definitely the top three JPG Male fragrances currently. If you cannot afford Ultra Male then go for Afnan 9pm where the projection and longevity is also beastly! Smell: 9/10 Longevity 9:10

I finally understand why this thing has been cloned to hell and back. So a nice quick story, I found this one sitting out in the open in one of Changi's duty frees. Imagine the surprise when my eyes locked on the red anchor graphic on the bottle, I had to make a double take. I don't really know if this is officially retired yet, but there's no harm in copping this one pronto I figured. I don't suppose I need to describe what this smells like, but I sense a tinge of nobility, when compared to its tremendous amount of dupes. The signature pear opening, drying down to a nice sweet musk scent. I dare say we can rock this all day all year-round.
