Arthes Essential Rose Damascus

I normally don't seek out rose perfumes, but was sampling the patchouli in the same line (loved it, so bought it), and thought "what the heck?" and sprayed this one on my arm... well, after I left the store and was riding along, it started to blossom... and such a lovely scent was hitting my nose, creating images in my mind of summer days spent visiting my great-grand-mum and playing outside amidst the hanging branches of the wind-swept, weeping willows... I have to go back and get this one- it's just perfect: roses, tea, a little fruit, a smidge of birch tar, and subtle soapy aldehydes- over a base centered upon clean, white musk. Everything is balanced so nicely; it has a "juicy" and vintage feel. I'm smitten. EDIT: bought a bottle- I'm even more impressed as the longevity is over 10 hours on me. I agree with Drugstore Classics: there are delicate touches of other things in the base- a little oudh, a little sandalwood... I'm just sorry that I discovered these so late, as the Jasmin du Nil is proving hard-to-find.

Finally, I have the chance to be the first reviewer here! I got two samples along with the JA Jasmin Du Nil, they are Rose Damascus and Patchouli Sumatra. I think this is the other variant from the roses that usually used in perfumeries, i.e Bulgarian Rose and Taif Rose. I do not know about this one, but the rose note in this is like a bouquet of roses that has a distinct sweetness (like in Rose Syrup "Cap Kaki Tiga" the brand that my mother always love.....:D) and a hint of sourness at beginning. The sillage is subtle but the longevity is good. Today I've tested it and although I've washed my hands several times (I dabbed it on my wrists at 11 am)and still the scent keep going nicely. A good bargain since the price is affordable (read: cheap)

I sprayed twice on my left arm in the house. I stepped outside into the car and shut the door - the entire car was filled with the perfume until my husband, who open his door in about 30 seconds after I shut my door! One of the BEST sillage perfumes I own! It's nothing but sharp and heavy roses at the beginning, but after an hour it dries to a soft and beautiful rose. To create some depth, as it is quite linear, I would like to try layering it with some patchouli underneath :) It's a great addition for your rose collection!

Oh this rose! It's the most wonderful rich fruity deep and voluptuous rose!!!! It's gorgeous, and I love it with all my heart!!! It's so beautiful!!! So elegant and womanly!!! And has such good sillage - I get so many wonderful, appreciative compliments, and my husband adooores it!!! And.....it lasts so well! Ages and ages! All day. It's completely my favourite rose!!! Beautiful beautiful beautiful!!!!!

I cannot explain EXACTLY my love for the house of Jeanne Arthes. It is inexpensive. Many are truly delightful. But....THIS fragrance is at the TOP! I am a big ol' rose lover in many forms: bright, jammy, dark, dry, etc.....and this is bright! and RICH! I will keep this in my collection always. If you are a rose lover....get this. You will NOT be disappointed.
