Rose de Grasse

This is simply photorealistic rose. When I sniffed my wrist for the first time, it transported my mind back to the times of my first summer break after first year of elementary school, when my cousin and I played in the nearby garden hedged with some ruby-red climbing rose bushes. We used to spend days playing among those roses, picking the flowers, giving them names and making up stories, taking them home, putting them afloat in the water in my mother’s crystal serving dishes, smelling them, eating the petals, digging into the blooms to find the yellow crown inside – for the entirety of that June lost in the mists of time. I swear, the smell of Rose de Grasse unlocked those memories and I vividly remembered the vibrant color, the cool velvety touch of the petals, the fresh-bitter-sweet taste, and the smell, that I never knew I did remember so well. Rose de Grasse is fresh and fragrant rose, pure and simple. It’s not rose jam, watery rose, morning in the rose garden, rose-centered bouquet or anything like that. It’s the flower head that you have just picked. It might be too simple, but it just what is says on the box. I don’t agree with some comments here saying that it smells “synthetic”. I know many kinds of synthetic rose all too well from the cheap soaps and shampoos we had in our house as I was growing up because we couldn’t afford anything better. Those were sickening and I thought I hated rose in cosmetics because of them. Jeanne Arthes Rose de Grasse, despite being very modestly priced, doesn’t smell synthetic or cheap and doesn't remind me of those products. It reminds me of the summer in the rose garden and those opulent red blooms. It feels like sticking your nose in the thicket of red petals and inhaling the sweet scent of a real rose. I also must note that this perfume gave me a new appreciation of my favorite Dior’s Midnight Poison. At one moment, while wearing Rose de Grasse, I was going up a dark and musty stairwell of an old apartment block, and I suddenly felt the familiar smell of the Midnight Poison. Because, yes, Midnight Poison is the ultimate Goth perfume – the smell of roses slowly wilting in a cold crypt. I apply Rose de Grasse generously (about 8-10 sprays) and it is enough to stay inside a fragrant rose cloud until the evening, without projecting too much and annoying people around you. This is definitely meant to prolong the feeling of cleanliness and freshness and enjoy yourself without making a fashion statement. I cannot think of a better smell for May and June, except maybe lilac or lily-of-the-valley, depending on your mood. Simply lovely.

Got a Jeanne Arthes L'Eau de Rose in my Glossybox and I love layering this scent to add a floral note to other perfumes. It won’t fill the room and is non offensive. More of a skin scent in the category of Ariana Grande Cloud that I tend to layer. I use I both perfumes as a stand-alone if a skin scent is desired.

A true rose great for layering. Reminds me of hot summer days walking the Tyler, Texas rose gardens. Smells like those old scratch and sniff books with the fuzzy ducks in the rose bush, in the best way. Not at all "old lady" or cheap-smelling. Safe blind buy for a rose lover!

Airy pink rose. Light and crisp. Reminds me of Paul Smith Rose Eau de Parfum, but more synthetic. Poor sillage and longevity. Overall a good perfume considering the low price. Works for everyday wear, very nonoffensive and clean.

Range about 65k Rupiah in Indonesia, this perfume is fully pink rose scent and nothing so special about it. See the lovely package makes me expect high. Something strong, loud and clear. No citrus. Just plain pink rose smell that you can sniff on a real rose. If you like the smell then you must like this. Actually the scent is rich, but too bad its too thin, light and gone easily. Since the price is cheap and the scent are light. Its good for you who likes to spray generously over body!

Synthetic Rose. Well, I can't ask much more for a perfume that costs me $5. I gave it away to my mom whose body chemistry suits this perfume better. It doesn't smell cheap and synthetic on her.

very cheap, around 3$. I love flowery smell. But this is smelt very.... fake. Even my cheaper body splash smelt better. The positive side, very weak longevity.

I'm a rose lover and blind bought this scent. The first time I sprayed it, I was happy--it's THE fresh, straightforward, realistic rose scent I've been looking for! It dries down powdery, like rose water, and I love powdery rose. Unfortunately, on my skin, after half an hour, a sharp, synthetic, mossy scent appears, which I really dislike. The same scent destroyed Bright Crystal by Versace and Q by D&G for me. Idk what it is, maybe it's just my skin chemistry. Anyway, at this price, it's worth a try.

Hate it tbh. Smells cheap and synthetic, like drugstore fragrances girls in middle school buy.
