Sultane L'Eau Fatale

Folloing an initial blast of cumin, L'Eau Fatale soon settles into a more comfortable elegance of woods and cinnamon. The latter note provides a cozy warmth along with ylang-ylang and some, but not a great deal of jasmine. Something about it does remind me, slightly, of both Santal Blush and Adam Levine (both of which I own), but more so of Sensuous and also Kenzo's Jungle (it may be the tamed cumin in the drydown). Overall, however, it does stand on its own, a warm and spiced concoction wrapping itself around you. Great for Autumn and Winter, and even today it felt like a good late afternoon option as there's practically a blizzard outside, despite it being late April. Edited to add that I can find no coconut in it at all. Highly recommended.

At first I had doubt to try this perfume because of the blue coloured bottle. But I bought it anyway since I am a fan of Jeanne Arthes. And I didn’t regret this purchase! It turns out the glass bottle is blue but the liquid is gold coloured. The first spray - the smell is pretty strong for me. After some time it settled down to a rich, creamy smell of deliciousness. The notable scent to my nose is the cumin and benzoin. I’d recommend this to be worn in cold weather. Conclusion : I love this perfume! ❤️

Surprisingly neat and unusually delicious. This cheapie was my best find in 2019. Coconutty benzoin on the warm sandal-musk of Dior Dune with just a hint of smoke in the background. Bears all qualities of my favourite 'suntan lotion' scents (Sensous Nude, Bronze Goddes), but deepens them into a beautiful, autumn witch-y, nearly-oriental luxury powder. It makes the wearer both very desirable and distant, unreachable.

I don't know how to phrase this so that no one misunderstands, my intention is not to bash more expensive fragrances. But... I can't understand the price point of some even niche fragrances compared to this one. So I won't comment other than to say; If you still find this somewhere, don't hesitate! The sandalwood is so right here.

A surprisingly noble and intense scent . For me the perfect scent for fall. The spices are warm and balanced. A beautiful perfume at a great price . Bravo J.Arthes ! LOVE from LOUVE P.S.: The only thing I consider, is the blue color of the perfume.... Because I associate " blue " with " fresh - aquatic" .

In the beginning, it's like a Samsara with coconut and cinnamon added. Then, it becomes more and more similar to Versace Crystal noir, with the cononut more pronounced, sweeter creamier. I love it, it's an amazing, long lasting cheapie!

This is wonderful. Without going into fancy nuances, this is like a delicious sandalwood creme toffee. Warm and comforting.

Undeterred by the failure of my experiment with JA Sultane Parfum Fatale, I bought this anyway and am wearing it now. The blinding blue colour of the perfume bottle is horrible and definitely put me off buying it initially. Whoever is responsible for choosing it needs to have a serious think about whether they are in the right profession; this is NOT a blue perfume! It's golden - warm, woody and a bit spicy. I am picking up a smooth leather/suede undertone (not listed, but I'm convinced it's there). At the time of writing, jasmine has been voted as the most prevalent note, which I find surprising as I am not getting any white flowers at all - but I am quite cold today, so maybe they bloom on warmer skin. There's a banana-ish ylang ylang, which is contributing to this perfume's slight sweetness. Overall, I am impressed with this offering from Jeanne Arthes. It's not niche quality by any means (unsurprising given the price - £10.81GBP for 100ml from Amazon UK) - BUT its quality does belie the cost as it smells far more expensive and I actually find it similar in tone to some L'Artisan Perfumeur offerings - in fact, it's definitely reminding me of something (Mechant Loup, maybe?). I also think this is unisex rather than "feminine" (although you should always wear whatever dings your dong). Tip: search on both Amazon UK and eBay "Jeanne Arthes Sultane Water Fatal Perfume" - the links from Fragrantica find nothing! NB. This appears to be available on US eBay from UK sellers with free international shipping.

The look of the bottle is reminiscent of summer, beaches, and pools, but the scent itself is by no means aquatic or marine. This is woody, creamy, and rich perfume, executed in a soft, sweet, feminine way. Cinnamon and ylang-ylang create an impression of something tropical, coconut-y – but just a light touch. It smells a bit like incense, a bit like an esoteric balm that calms your skin and soul, a bit like the little shop on the corner with wind chimes where they sell tarot and seashell amulets. It’s very cozy to wear, but it does have this mature feminine energy that is confident, opulent, and enticing. I would describe it as empowering. It’s sexy and seductive, but not in a flirty, playful way – rather in a confident, irresistible way. When she walks by, everyone cannot help but gaze after her longingly, but she doesn’t care. This can be seen as a unisex scent with so much woodiness and spices, but I think of it as more of bold and independent “femme fatale,” so the name is quite fitting. It’s not very similar, but does remind me a bit of the original Poison – same genre and vibe so to speak. A beautiful oriental that I would pack in a copper-colored mystical phial. However, the color of turquoise seems fitting too. I must admit that although it sounds a bit strong, it wears beautifully in the summer without giving me a headache, unlike many other perfumes heavy in flowers. In fact, I like it much better in July than in January. Maybe this “pool water” look wasn’t so off-the-mark after all.

this is a warm, creamy perfume. at the beginning i get mostly sandalwood and benzoin with hints of cinnamon and cumin. it's a cozy scent, and reminds me of something else i've tried but cannot place what it is. if there are florals here, they're not so obvious to me, but maybe the ylang ylang is adding more to the sweet/creamy element. all in all this is a nice perfume. i want to re-try in winter though because i think it'll be very comforting then.

I thought this has caramel because at the first spray it smells so sweet! After an hour the spices begin to spark. I don't smell any jasmine at all, instead the cumin, sandalwood and cinnamon are the most noticeable notes. I agree with the rest of reviewers here that it not should be blue color, it should be brown or orange! It doesn't smell like any cheap perfume, it reminds me of Charriol Imperial Saphire but not exact dupe.

Could someone else PLEASE remove Creed Green Irish Tweed from the "reminds me of" perfume list above????? I suppose it's a little more creative than Aventus, but it's still bloody silly. That aside, I've done a quick comparison of L'eau Fatale and SJP Stash; I think there are enough similarities for me to add it to the "reminds me of" list.

Creamy, balsamic, with a hint of sandalwood on my skin. No cinnamon for me, but that's ok. Actually I find this a great perfume, easy to wear in cold days, with lasting power about 5 hours or even more. Interesting smell, warm and really comforting. Really nice, and with this price worth to try!

Tested this today. The colour doesn't suit the scent at all. Aside from that the bottle is beautiful. The scent reminds me of Truth or Dare Naked with a little wiff of coconut which isn't in the notes. All in all quite a good fragrance, and for the price, well, it's a no-brainer!

I was a bit sceptical about the cumin note when I blind ordered it but after I tested it, it's not bothersome at all, on the contrary :) Actually, this perfume belongs in my opinion to the category "ULTRA SENSUAL" 💏 Very seductive and warm. Beautiful! Sillage and longevity: moderate. Affordable but not cheap smelling at all 👌 The only downside has to do with the bottle and not the scent itself. The lid is impossible to fit and close once you open it :/ UPDATE: I don't know if I developed an intolerance to cumin but this perfume unfortunately gives me now a headache after some time and it feels stuffy and overpowering.. :( I use it as a room aroma (which is the utter disgrace for a perfume 😬) but just a tiny bit of spray makes the room smell nice. Intolerable on me, pleasant on the air (nothing to "die" for though) 🤷

Opens up like Crystal Noir, dries down to a total dupe of Santal Blush. To me, it loses appeal as the sandalwood note becomes more and more evident. It is dry, not creamy, and resembles incense above anything. No cumin detected (thank goodness).

I tried this today and am undecided. It is unlike anything else I have worn, but now, here, with spring going into summer, I find it cloying and too sweet in the heat. It may be more suited to winter. I like the uniqueness of the fragrance but I am not sure if I can carry it off. The white floral dominates, and I get a pronounced smell of almond or marzipan with coconut, not listed in the notes. The woody and spicy notes don't come through for me. I'll wait a while and then try again. I agree that the blue colour is misleading with regard to the character of the fragrance. For me it doesn't smell woody or oriental.

I bought this because read good reviews on the internet. After first sniff i smell sweet coconut cookies. So sweet and delicious. It is supposed to be perfume for food than for human. Sorry to say this, but I dissappointed although I got this with cheap price.

Far from being a memorable scent, this Sultane is good for anyone who love coconutty perfumes. I'm a long, very long, devotee of Samsara and I smell nothing like Samsara in this one. Even if I like coconut as a food in all its form, even the oil, I'm not a fan of the note in perfumes and I generally avoid it. In this perfume coconut is king and it's not even mentioned!!! It reminds me of a simplified Casmir by Chopard, but L'Eau Fatale smells more exotic and beachy and to my dismay also sugary, like a Virgin Cola. My first impression is like smelling the old fashioned Ambre Solaire tanning oil with no filter that we used here about 30 or more years ago, before any sun damage awareness ever existed, together with the concept of pet food and many other things... The nice thing in Sultane L'Eau Fatale is that after this scaring (for me) opening a lactonic woody edge with a nice sandalwood really takes power and it all becomes less beachy, more adult and interesting. The sandalwood seems similar to NR cubes or Indi by Katy Perry, where I smell no musk whatsoever, only a tenacious clean wood note. I guess it's my problem with new molecules. A good point for this perfume is that it never turns rancid as many beachy and suntan lotions do. It keeps it clean. At this point its evolution brings out a distinct vibe of pistachio that strongly reminds me of SJP Stash (I got both together in a swap within Italy), but the coconut never gives way, anyway. Cinnamon? I really hoped for cinnamon but never got it here :-/ Ylang-Ylang and Jasmine are really only a shy shadow. Lucky me, I get no cumin either! There might be a hint of lovely benzoin somewhere... Sultane L'Eau Fatale is a happy vibe scent for people who enjoy sugary coated coconut and beachy scents with a modern woody twist. Nothing oriental nor "sultane" here to smell. If NR went for yet another cube this one could be Narciso Summer Dream. It makes me think of summer with the clearest blue sky on a warm beach. I like the colour of the bottle, but not so much the tacky plastic cap. On my skin the lasting power is very low. After the initial explosion, in 30 minutes I cannot smell it anymore, but I have a doubt that it's still there, only I become a bit anosmic to it.

This perfume sent me off on a Jean Arthes trip as I was so surprised to instantly fall for a scent at such a fantastic price. I went on to buy four others. A couple of years later and I have given two of them away and another two live in a constant purgatory, always on the verge of being sent away. Sultane L'eau, however, remains a win for me. It is sweet and warm without being stuffy. It is coconutt-ey in a kind of toasted coconut way - and does NOT give me the suntan lotion, beach-ey vibe that I get from Sensuous Nude, Bronze Goddess and Teracotta. I have never been a beach bunny and those scents appall me. I heard another scent being described as 'chic' today - and I have to say - Sultan L'eau is certainly not chic. It is reassuring, comforting and uplifting. Although it is not a sophisticated perfume, I do not feel like I'm wearing something made for a pre-teen. It won't make you seem powerful or glamorous or turn you into a diva - but it does smell GOOD!

This scent is so nice in a perfect occasion, but beast if its worn in the wrong time. I expected this fragrance way balsamic and spicy, but its sweet in a weird way. Weird way here refers to old pages book + caramel notes (though there Is no caramel here) At 1st purchased (I was blind buy), i regret so much of this scent, even my whole family think so They said "freak your smell is ?" Then the times come past till one day i enjoyed my smell It was so juicy, rich, i cant describe how beutiful it was and i wore it more and more at that moment But lately, everytime im wearing this. It will give me a headache at the first spray :( (perhaps the weather is too hot) Talk bout longevity and projection This fragrance has an amazing longevity and good projection. My advice is dont overspray and dont wear it in hot weather

Why in the world did they called it " Deadly wather"? :D Nothing deadly about it. It should be named at least... "Cozy blanket" or something else! It is warm, it is uplifting, it has great quality. it gives you more than the price might make you think it is capable of giving. It is what us fragrance hoarders call, a hidden gem! Because it is hidden under a small price tag, since people only respect things they cannot afford, they skip over the cheap stuff!

This reminds me of Tom Ford Santal Blush, they share most of the notes and the smell is quite similar. But also it seems a little, just a little, similar to Organza Indecence Givenchy It starts with strong coconut even it's not listed, then spices and sandalwood, warm and balsamic... It should have been an orange or a brown bottle. It is a cheap perfume, but not a cheap smell, it feels like niche. More suitable for warm days of a late autumn...

Wow, this was a great buy. Just like described below, a creamy scent not unlike sunscreen, the mixture of notes gives a definite coconut vibe. I associate summertime with it, although it can be wearable year-round. But also the colour of the juice / bottle makes it summery for me. I'm glad I bought it, these creamy scents are wonderful to my nose, and the blending is superb.

I bought this today. I loved the scent. It reminded me of some perfume I couldn't recall, but now I'm at home, I realized it smells quite similar to LA Nuit Tresore by Lancome which I purchased in a trip to England. It brings me so beautiful memories of Swanage. I'm so happy I can wear this more often than my LNT because to be honest I don't want to finish it.

This is TF Santal Blush (that dry and sweet sandalwood like pencil shavings) with vanilla ice-cream, coconut (well that can be the combination of ylang-ylang and jasmine flowers) with a pinch of cinnamon. It is nice and comforting scent like winter time cuddles before bedtime. Big like :)

This very affordable fragrance is surprisingly good, it has a prominent sandalwood on me, not creamy sandalwood as Samsara, but something more "rural", it smells like Balinese sandalwood flipped-fan. It has good projection and longevity, and more suitable in the cool weather I supposed.

Sultane L'Eau Fatale, Arome Arthes and Cassandra are the best built from this brand. In my humble opinion. Arome Arthes is rare nowadays and found only on Ebay shipped from far away lands.

Woody, dark, unique, sexy and genderless. It has warmness of a sandalwood and peppery, spicy touch. Definitely it has a quality of a niche perfume. ✨

@kurzemesradioel “Fatale” in French doesn’t mean deadly, in this particular instance. It means seductive. Like “femme fatale” 🙂
