Sultane Noir Velours

I'm not a jasmine fan but this thing does a good job. You'll get the heavy floral at first (i don't get the bergamot notes), after 10 minutes it's tamed down into nice subtle vanilla-musky something. Feminine but firm. The longevity sucks, sits around 2 hours on my skin then gone. but with $15 and get this kinda scent, i really don't mind to spritz every 2 hours or buy another bottle every 2 months. Amazing how they put ALLURING scent in a pretty bottle and sell it uber CHEAP. Genie in a bottle, this is a steal. LOVELY. Oh, it doesn't remind me of Lolita Lempicka. Not at all. I have both. Totally different. For me LL is stronger and more on the sweet-spicy-bitter side which is also nice.

I can't wait for my Sultane Noir on next 2 days. buy it from online store for only $10. I try it because someone below said that this is like Bvlgari Jasmine Noir that I had it before and I love it. will give an update review on Thursday. Edit : surprise.. just received my bottle today ,very beautiful. for me the start smell so fresh, so citrusy and delicious. It amazingly last for more than 10 hours cause i could still smell the vanilic coffee scent. the dry down smell like delicious cappucino or coffee candy. :)

I own Red vanilla and to me it does not smell anything the same at all, but it just goes to show how we can all perceive scents differently. Personally I love this scent, very powdery vanilla and strong with the mimosa and heliotrope. I think the shape of the bottle represents a pregnant lady and the cap is symbolic of a sperm and egg, very artistic design....

One of perfume that I use till the last drop without I realize it. I love the smell, it give a warmer feeling especially in rainy season. I also got many compliments and people asked me what I use. A real gem considering the price. I think I gotta buy another one.

Wow! I tested this today in a shop where they also carry cheap and ultra-cheap fragrances on rotation. I couldn't avoid trying this (9.90 euro) and I was quite surprised because it's not bad at all! Not a sophisticated multi-layered niche of course, but not stinky cheap either. It is a little on the cheap side because it's not complex. The first burst is fresh and slightly citrusy but it soon goes straight to powder-fruit, like a long-long-long far cousin of original (Goddess forgive me) Poison in the purple bottle and (ehm...) Shalimar? I don't know exactly what reminds me of that. Another more striking similarity is with Varens Love, probably both aimed at same effect. I tried Sultane (what a funny phoney name!) and tried also Chloe Love on the other arm. Well, after about 3 hours Sultane still smelled the same, no morphing, same fruity powder, only thinned but present and more vanillic, like a your-skin-but-better. Chloe Love smelled stronger but more vile than Sultane, at least to my nose, even more chemical with a strong shampoo note (not pleasant) Humble Sultane won over hyped Chloe Love. For sure I will go back to the shop and buy a bottle! Edit 2: I went back and bought full bottle! I smells like a floral version of baby talcum, feminine, interesting but tamed.

This comes off as much more of a "pink" fragrance to me than anything black or brown. There's quite a bit of vanilla in the woody, oriental base, pulling Noir Velours into gourmand territory... and fruity berries and a note of tea that no-one seems to mention. I'm only sensing a hint of heliotrope tbh. It reminds me also of Jasmin Noir EDT with its sweet, "fresh" florals over a similar base (but it does NOT, I assure you, remind me of Jasmin Noir EDP), and a little bit like Omnia Amethyst, and a little bit like Eau parfumée au Thé Rouge... but then, it also reminds me of several fruitchoulis that abound on the market- like Fantasy, Viva La Juicy, Vince Camuto, etc. Honestly, I bought Noir Velours for the intriguing bottle; the scent is very nice and very wearable... and yet somewhat unremarkable, and not enough naturals to be anything near swoon-worthy. I'm keeping it around, though, and will wear it on cool days. Notes that I pick out: Head: bergamot, lemon, calone/"fresh-ozone". Heart: Cassis/berries, jasmine, freesia, mimosa, heliotrope, rose, black tea. Base: Musk, amber, vanilla, coumarin, woods, patchouli, and a wee touch of civet apparent only on the far drydown.

Sultane Noir Velour is not a „noir“ scent at all. Blanc Velour would be a much more fitting name, as it‘s soft like velour, but smells more like a light, white scent, maybe with some golden specs in it. Or like a demure pastel color, maybe reminiscent of an aquarel painting in light yellow and pink. It‘s a soft, warm, creamy to powdery floral. I get lots of jasmin and mimosa, also heliotrope. This fragrance is sweet, but in a tender way, it‘s not overwhelming at all. Even though heliotrope and tonka can become almondy in a cloying, strong way, this doesn‘t happen here. Tonka is just grounds the florals a bit and gives the scent vanillic warmth. There is a hint of musk, too, but only a hint, and also a very small dash of citrus in the top notes. It‘s a very nice perfume for the cheap price and could be worn year round, on every occasion. If you‘re looking for an affordable powdery floral allrounder, try Sultane Noir Velours. But if you‘re looking for something exciting, dark, seductive, better try something else.

This gem definitely reminds me of Lolita Lempicka's namesake fragrance, but a little lighter and more aquatic in nature. I might add that this in no way resembles the original Sultane. Sultane Noir is fruity, floral and woody. Cedar and musk are gorgeous in this concoction (the cedar is also a stand out like the original Sultane). I prefer this one to the original. I find that Arthe's fragrances do the job insofar as being able to buy a good product for a reasonable price. I also love the bottle for this take on Sultane. There's something about the black, opaque bottle that impresses me. I'm quite taken with it, in fact! As with the original Sultane, you can spray a tonne of it on as you can't overdo it. You can wear this one all year round as it will adapt to the seasons. It will warm you up in winter and act as a spritzy little refresher in summer.

The 5 to 10 minutes were hell. Smells like hairspray, hurting my nose. Afterwards it turns into bittersweet berry flowery powdery scent. The longer it sits on skin, the bitter starts to fade, meanwhile the powdery sweet scent will take the spotlight while berry flowery hand in hand stay close behind them. The end result afterward are powdery vanilla scent. If this is translate into visual, maybe black and pink purple lolita-ish or goth pink fashion. I'm not loving it, but not hating it too. I had 3 other JA (jasmine, rose, and Guipure silk Rose), out of those three, Sultane Noir is better. Original price around $15, got special discount so I only need to pay half of it. Sillage bad, longevity a bit better than body splash. ... Update. I was in Zara store and tried Red Vanilla. Imho, 99% same scents.

My husband got this for me. Huge bottle- onyx color, shiny... the shape looks like poop hahaha. The smell is good. Weak- I Sprayed so much of it. A warm safe neutral vanilla. Unisex in scent for me, it is kind of underwhelming. I was picturing car air freshener. The smell dries down very quick. Mostly disappearing, then a lovely powdery aroma follows with very small hints that other notes are in the mix. After maybe an hour it isn't as noticeable, smells more like a body spray on my clothes. I'm thinking Calgoon brand from back in the day. Maybe more like fresh laundry, but no chance of smelling like old ladie.

Sultane Noir Velour doesn't smell like Lolita Lempicka to me past the first few minutes. There isn't even a hint of patchouli. But fans of Lolita Lempicka would definitely enjoy this fragrance. It's also much more wearable in summer, being far less gourmand. If anything it is similar to Jasmin Noir by Bvlgari. Noir Velour is a sweet, powdery but slightly dark floral fragrance. Very pretty, but mature. Most prominent notes to me are heliotrope & mimose, followed by musk. Tonka combines with heliotrope for a nutty quality.

Some of the Jeanne Arthes fragrances really don't appeal to me much, but Sultaine Noir Velour is one that does. This also lasts surprisingly long! I bought it for R169.00 (US $13), which is a real steal. My mom really likes Paris Hilton Can Can, but for some reason it's the one Paris Hilton fragrance we can't find anywhere. When I tried out Sultaine Noir Velour it reminded me of Can Can. I got this for my mom instead. It is very sweet & also reminds me of Fantasy. Obviously I got myself a bottle too :)

Oriental-style scent. I can smell too much vanilla, though it is not listed here, and I like it. It's probably the tonka bean and heliotrope play together in such a way. Sultane Noir Velour reminds me of Dior Hypnotic Poison, like its lighter version. The scent is quite intimate, longevity and sillage are moderate, but good enough. Sultane Noir Velour will be equally perfect for dating and evenings at home. Another good work of Jeanne Arthes at affordable price.

I swear I under estimate this perfume at the first time I heard from my sister, but I dare to buy it online after read some good review here. It is very cheap, so I think it would be forgivable for blind-buy mistake. Well it is a great perfume, fresh flowery scent at first and then transformed into soft musky floral all day. I use it in the morning at 7am and still feel yummy musky until noon.. love it! The bottle is nice and looks expensive :)

I'm not too crazy about the beginning. The mimosa and hellotrope combo translate to pencil shaving baby powder on my skin. Yuck. Good thing that only lasts 3 minutes! The rest is devine. Just the right amount of powdery, woodsy, smokey jasmine and hellotrope deliciousness. The rose, in my opinion, is a supporting note as it doesn't exactly shine. A gosh darn classy lady! Lasts ~5 hours, mostly a snuggly skin scent after 2 hours. Yum!

what an interesting scent- primarily a yellow floral with a musky vanilla base. at first it's a bit strong, but then it calms down and smells quite nice. i get a lot of mimosa and some rose and jasmine. there is something a bit sweet, i am guessing it's the tonka+ heliotrope. anyway, i totally edited my old review because my perspective changed somewhat on this. i still like it a lot though, even though the opening is a bit strong.

Not a review for the above, but for the new one, Sultan Musk ( navy blue translucent bottle)...it is a mellow clean musk, a bit dry. I feel like I’m getting a powdery heliotrope and hints of almond milk? Listed notes are flowers, powder, nagarmotha, musk and amber. There is a herbal hint that makes this interesting. A good cuddle scent.

It's summer and I wore it on the evening... Too sweet, even for me, and believe me when I say I'm a sucker for sweet scents... I'm guessing hot climate it's an enemy for this fragrance, but maybe in winter or late fall it's better appreciated. Recommended, though

My husband buy me one bottle for my Xmas gift. I like it very much. The scent last 5 hours easily. It is a good fragrance not so expansive, I will buy it in the future.

This was an impulse purchase after the sales lady gave me a sample and I didn't really examine the scent for too long. I wasn't a big fan. It wasn't bad, I'm just not a big fan of vanilla, spicy warm scents. It definitely had a strong vanilla and incense-like notes. It's most suitable to put on after a warm evening shower or bath, or before going to bed. The bottle design is a bit weird with cheap plastic cap and gold plastic accent on the top. That gold paint smudged overtime and just made the packaging felt cheap in general.

Heliotrope for days. This is a beautiful heliotrope perfume. It's right in the heart. I was expecting something mysterious, dark, unisex, the Midnight Poison of the Jeanne Arthes perfumes. But this is a sweet and elegant little lady. The fragrance starts with a mimosa that stands out. The heart is floral with jasmine and roses that are surrounding the heliotrope. This smells like the classiest little townhouse drawing room adorned with flower vases. It also makes me feel like I'm at an expensive five star hotel in Paris. The tonka which is really just another word for vanilla is noticeable at the end and I didn't detect any musk or woodsy notes. This is a heliotrope vanilla and it smells so good. I wonder why the price is so low but who cares. Affordable luxury! Highly recommended. Every woman is a flower and her perfume is her fragrance.

I love this perfume! The black bottle looks like the scent would be Oriental, bolder, unisex, leathery, dark, exotic or heavy. But it's not. It's a subtle soft womanly powder scent of powdery florals and citrus. The opening is citrusy bergamot orange shacking up with mimosa flower or even orange blossom. The mimosa smells like heliotrope which also smells like vanilla. To me this vanilla and Tonka are at the real heart. This is powdery and woodsy. The heliotrope is to die for and it's probably one of the all around finest heliotropes other than perhaps - if you like your vintages- L'Heure Bleu. But this is sweeter softer easier to wear. L'Heure is too much for me. This is a casual inoffensive day time scent to wear every day to work or anywhere.

Beautiful floral fragrance. Heliotrope is the purple flower in this perfume that is most fragrant to my nasal detection. Very feminine, classy. Even luxurious for a price you don't pay for luxury. Mimosa and roses. Elegant and formal. I've just opened it and have spritzed it on me about 40 minutes ago. It seems to evolve fairly quickly and it becomes very woodsy too. It's pretty strong stuff but not in a vulgar way. The bottle is gorgeous like an antique Persian Oriental bottle. I've uploaded a video of me opening and trying on the fragrance and sent it to my mother who wants to know what this is like. Is this a cheap perfume? No way. Smells like a million bucks. Love it.

This is the booziest non alcoholic scent ever! It may be due to tonka bean/bergamot/mimosa/heliotrope combo, but it is delicious and NOT cloyingly sweet, fresh and slightly indolic with depth and longevity that goes on for ever. This is a scent full of contradictions, fresh yet deep and resinous, floral with a slight carnal heart, light but with great depth and sillage. The rose and musk notes are there mainly to ground the floral/spicy citrus to spot and lend a fabulous roundness and charm to the whole composition. It is ideal for Spring but I should think any season could do justice to this extraordinary juice!!!

If you are on a tight budget like myself but have a love of only good quality perfumes this perfumery never disappoints. This is my third Jeanne Arthes fragrance and just like the other two it knocks my socks off with strength, quality and lasting power. Sultane Noir Velour is not one of those mysterious fragrances like the name might suggest however it's a lovely daytime scent that is completely non offensive. At first spray it was ok but after about 5 minutes it morphed from "ok" to completely fabulous. I would like to thank my lovely swap partner Joliecat for this wonderful gem.

Alien Thierry Mugler and Jasmin Noir Bvlgari, i have both. For jasminmania, you can try this, Sultane Noir Velour. It's great and clean, similar to Jasmin Noir and Alien, maybe more Jasmin Noir than Alien, with blend of jasmin and tonka bean, but more simple and more linier. And more important, it's cheap! Longevity is good on me, 5-6 hours so far.

i liked this when the first time i tried it as tester! so i bought one immediately! but then the second time i wear this i felt like it was too sweet for me! IMO, honestly the smell is kind of elegant, i got sweet vanilla in the base note, but yeah its too sweet for my liking! but seriously it smells nice, just not my cup tea!

I tried this today and liked it a lot on the first spray. For the first hour or so I kept sniffing my wrist. After a while, I could barely smell anything. A lovely elegant floral, but very dilute, and therefore not such good value after all, because I would have to use so much of it to get any effect.

I just bought it and yes it isn't bad at all. I put it on at 7 and when it reached 3 hours in my skin the scent is much like vanilla, just like melly said. Love it after all.

Sultane Noir is great. Sofly so girly mix jasmine n rose. Lovely! I usually use sweet vanila but now this is my new fav.
