THE TALE OF THE OLIVE TREE AND THE CEDAR Cedar-of-Spain or Cade is a juniper species that can form scattered bushes or small erect trees. It is easily found in the Mediterranean woods of Morocco, the Iberian Peninsula, and southern France. Normally the essential oil distilled from it has intense, dry, woody, tar-like, and smoky aromas. "Bois d'Olivier & Cade" by Jeanne en Provence is a very masculine fragrance based on notes of Spanish Cedarwood. The juniper essential oils, and the associated olfactory perfumery note, often come from this tree. In this Jeanne en Provence fragrance, this tree is represented, by the berries, the wood and up to the green coniferous needles. It is an averagely spiced fragrance, with some fougére and herbaceous notes, with a few fresh tones, and woody enough to evoke the arid Mediterranean dryland woods. The opening is fairly traditional with lemon peel with apple pulp. At the heart we find soft juniper berries, but somewhat distant from the bitter juniper used to flavour gin. It intertwines a little with well aromatic but equally light lavender. The olfactory pyramid portrays aquatic notes that if perhaps translate into some freshness that is not salty at all. I also feel some cardamom nuances although this note is not listed. The strong dish arrives with olive wood, sandalwood, the dominant cedar, and a bit of vanilla (note also unlisted). The mood becomes slightly smoky, with dry, masculine, rustic woods... a bit like our beloved Christmas tree. This perfume clearly has a masculine slant. It has the knack of being easy to please everyone, myself included. From Jeanne En Provence I had previously chased "Néroli Intense" which besides being (really) a very good scent, hardly changed the volume of my wallet. A flask of "Bois d'Olivier & Cade" came to my hands because, at the closing of a WEB order, I was offered a 100ml "special" for half a dozen Euros. I accepted this true shot in the dark without hesitation. I guess I did not regret it as in the meantime I already bought a second backup bottle! Recommended? Yes and very much so. This perfume has become my "dumb reach" woody perfume. I find it similar to the also very good "Eau de Cade" by L'Occitane en Provence. Strangely enough, it smells a tiny bit like "La Nuit de L'Homme" by Yves Saint Laurent (I wonder why?). Note: JEANNE EN PROVENCE is a Provencal brand of natural products, operating in Grasse, and established in the market since 1978. How they manage to make some products so good at fighting prices, I cannot understand. According to them, they just make.... "products of well-being and care, based on plants and flowers emblematic of our Provence... as well fragrances of our beautiful South (of France), elaborated by Master perfumers of Grasse." Its perfumer - JEAN-PIERRE BÉTHOUART - among other gems, made "Boucheron", "Boucheron pour Homme", "The Dreamer" by Versace, "Dune pour Homme" by Dior"... I think the main accords is slightly different in reality. Bois D’Olivier Cade is a woody and sweet fragrance that leans on aromatic-lavender side. It’s not a typical barbershop cologne, nor typical fresh citrusy-herbal fragrance although the opening is quite citrusy or apple fresh. Olive tree, lavender, and junniper are the prominent player here. I can smell the vanilla and sandalwood eventhough they are not listed in the pyramide notes. Definitely a unisex, I am a woman and really enjoy wearing this. For its price, Bois D’Olivier Cade is a real deal! Reminds me of: Boss Infinite Hugo Boss and Angel Schlesser Pour Homme

This is a gem. Wonderful blend that smells like a LOT - if not 5x more than the price I paid. (I paid 8€) I get a strong resemblance to the Hugo Boss The Scent line as well as the Original Boss Bottled, that I used a lot back 10 years time ago. The apple in this is stronger than listed on here as for now. All in all 7/10, no brainer for everyday and date night use, with longevity and projection in the moderate department. I like this and I might recommend it for the male between 18-100 :-)

I like this smell so much. Manly and stylo. Cheap but very quality, hardly can i find perfumes nowadays this good. Im truly surprised by its quality smell. This my second purchase after Lavande & Vetiver. The Verveine is also good. JEP i guess is somewhat like Loccitane approach. But on the cheap. To me this is too good already. Will buy more from JEP definitely and put them side by side with my niche range Amouage, Bond No9, Diptyque, BDK etc.. I appreciate it so much.

As it was 100 ml for €10 I blind bought it - I figured if I dislike it, it would still make for a cute bathroom odorizer. Turns out it smells reaaaally good! Makes me want to go to the farmers' market or sth. Wait, is this what farmers' market men smell like? Oh, and the bottle is lovely and heavy, with a sturdy cap.

For 9$ fragrance, it blows my mind, not in the terms of scent profile.. But the ratio of price vs overall package Timeless traditional manly fougere, good juice, smooth blend, solid bottle, decent performance, versatile, easy to wear.

I like this one. It's sweet, woody and fresh. Performance is very good and it's good value. Update.....The dry down on me is sweet and fruity - a very nice perfume.

Was surprised by the good quality when I tested this today. Reminds me of Hugo by Hugo Boss, Just Different by Hugo Boss and Polo Red Intense. A lot cheaper.

My least favourite of the three JeP fragrances I purchased. Maybe my scent memory is off, but it reminds me a lot YSL LaNuit (which I personally hate) I am surprised noone mentioned it before. Definitely less sweet due to absence of tonka, which is actually a good thing for me and reason why I’m willing to give it a second chance. Otherwise it shares many notes, lavender, pine and has similar vibe. In the drydown the olive tree gets a bit more pronounced and gives it unique feeling. It also acquires nice soapy clean quality from lavender that I actually enjoy quite a bit. Unfortunately the projection and sillage are relatively weak, it turns into a skin scent within an hour, but afterwards it keeps lingering around for quite a while. As is a good custom with all JeP fragrances, the quality at this price point is unsurpassed and you would not be able to tell you are spraying 10 EUR fragrance. Would I recommend a purchase - absolutely, especially if you like smells like La Nuit. Do I enjoy it? Not so much, but I can still appreciate the brand for what they are able to deliver to the customers at this price point is unheard of and beyond belief.

Christmas Tea (Jean-Pierre Bethouart, 2012) Scentrack: Nas – Memory Lane (Sittin' in da Park) The composition opens with sweet, fruity tones. Candied lemon peel and apple give a Christmas fruit tea vibe. Underneath this festive accord, a classic French lavender is hidden with a pinch of sweet jasmine. Woody notes emerge soon after the fruity-floral symphony. However, I do not detect a strong and rubbery note of Mediterranean cade, and I am not familiar with the note of olive tree. All I can get is a touch of juniper with pale sandalwood traces. Hence, in my opinion, the name is quite misleading. Apple & Woods seems more justified. The only downfall is the performance. Still, it is quite normal for a fragrance of this price range. If you are on a budget, Bois d’Olivier & Cade is the right choice for you. Bois D’Olivier & Cade is a simplistic name for a simplistic fragrance, although a very pleasant and enjoyable one at that. This is a clean, fresh and masculine woody scent which for the price is a no brainer for any man’s collection. The scent is comprised primarily of cedar and juniper which gives you this refreshingly juicy yet sharp and piney woodiness. It also claims to have use a fantasy note of olive wood in here too - a plant which is essentially odourless, so a strange addition and one which cannot be identified. Punchy hints of citrus and lavender give the scent a touch of classical fougere about it, furthering the masculinity behind it. Overall I think this is a brilliant fragrance for the price, I picked this up for only £9 and I really can’t complain. It’s nothing mind blowing or revolutionary but if you simply want to smell good and not worry about your wallet this is a definite staple in my eyes.

Somewhere below, I saw a review by an Indonesian guy. (I had to translate it first to understand what he meant). He compares this perfume to 'Azzaro Wanted by Night', and I don't think that's a bad comparison at all. I own them both: 'Wanted by Night' remains the real king, but this one does come pretty close and can stand on his own. It is a perfect scent for the office, without overpowering your colleagues. I thought you couldn't smell an olive tree, but I think they're actually referring to olive oil... We all know that scent. Update: Jeanne En Provence is established in Grasse (France), as you can read on their website the flower extracts and essential oils are sourced through the network in Grasse, the world capital of perfumery. I find this an interesting little fact, and I'll enjoy this perfume even more. Soon I will try the others in this series...

This scent envelops you in a soft fluffy cloud of herbs and spices. Classic yet very modern. It will not offend anybody and is very versatile for any age group. I went with 2 sprays on the neck, two on chest and 2 on both forearms. I kept getting really nice nose fulls of scent and appreciated the way the scent developed over the next 4 hours. I could still smell it in the morning. The overall vibe is very natural, fresh, but still spicy enough to not be too standard. I feel the quality of raw materials used is of top quality. Bottle is really nice and the atomizer is one of the best I have ever used (I like big soft clouds of spray). Price is a no brainer and plan on getting all 4 scents for men just to have different mood enhancers on hand.

Lavande & Vetiver from this line is my favorite budget fragrance ever, so I got this too, and it didn't disappoint. It' simple and in no way unique, but great. Strong, fresh cedar with some sharpness, it is exactly what you would expect. To me this actually smells like a less fruity version of Diesel Fuel for Life, which is my favorite cologne on my boyfriend. This is a stereotypically male perfume, but I'll happily wear this as a woman. It also has really luxurious feeling packaging for the price. Overall really good and nice to layer with L&V for an even more foresty feeling. It makes me interested in the rest of the collection.

A very nice and light scent, that almost anyone can pull off. It might be leaning a bit more to the masculine side due to the underlying charred juniper note, but in my book it is still unisex fragrance. It does not smell cheap and definitely hits above the price category. Bottle looks solid too, very oldschool, which I like. Sadly the projection is almost non-existant and at least on my skin it works only as a mild, quiet and calm office or home fragrance. I would have loved a little bit mode juniper too, because it is overall a bit on the sweet side. This would be really nice for hot summer days when you just want to relax.

Well balanced fragrance. Tasteful but not boring. It immediately reminds me of last year's parfum version of Adidas Champions but this came a decade before. It's either a mature man's cologne a teen can accept, or a teen cheapie a mature man can enjoy. It lacks a pushy edge to be a designer fragrance equivalent. But being chill is chic. The French call this le sport-chic. Aromatic, bitter-sweet, nature based, sunny, positive, upbeat, even a bit sexy.

Right off the bat it smells really fruity,like orange extract,after a few minuts it becomes a bit darker,more woody,spicy,citrusy. logenvity i would say that on my skin i get around 4 to 6 hours max. I like this fragrance and dont care about what people say,this is a perfect summer scent if you dont wanna spend too much Perfect for people that just started collecting(i spent 10 euro)

I bought Bois D' Olivier & Cade online attracted by the olive tree note. Yes, it is there in combination with other notes. The opening is woody - bitter citruses and later on becomes woody - vanilla I think. The performance is moderate but for the price is very worthy! It is a nice fragrance!

Nice woody citrusy scent, the olive accord gives it a woody green twist, really nice. As a cheapy you cant expect massive projection and longevity, you have to apply multiple times a day. Nevertheless its a really nice, dumb reach scent. I use it as a room spray.

In reality this fragrance, if described with the notes listed on Fragrantica, would be extremely misleading. It starts with citrus, more bergamot than lemon, followed by a short passage of the juniper (lavander is not perceptible). In a few minutes this first phase vanishes completely and you begin to perceive the wood that immediately creates an agreement with the not mentioned note of vanilla, but present to the point that after an hour the cedar dominates

My least favourite from this line. Feels synthetic and raw, I could swear that it contains ambroxan, it's making me feel nauseous. While Acqua and Lin Blanc from this line are wonderful, this one is really forgettable and better to avoid.

As a woman, the juice has a special calming effect on me. It is sweet, aromatic, woody, but not a barbershop smell at all. To me it’s even to sweet for a man. When I wear it, I feel so confident and peaceful. Strong. Yes it can be a little medicinal, but more as a lovely magic potion. The cade is the wild juniper growing freely in the south of Europe, in the mediterranean garrigue, it is spicier than cedarwood but still deeply connected to the rough dry soil. I’m happy to be one of the very few women choosing this kind of fragrance, and get often curious compliments. I don’t give the name: secret witch spell, of course.

Nice and unique greenie-sweetie for pennies. It is strange, but it really has an apple pie note at initial, but it's far from the gourmand class and it's very far from the classic greens. (Quorum, Rabanne PH, Bogart OMS...etc.) Sugary a bit, but not too sweet, just slightly and not dry, or acrid, rather smooth. Also it has some cool freshness. Very unique blend. I feel some pepper and patchouli too, but these are not in the pyramid. You will like it, if you intrested in greens, like me. Recommended!

Just recently blind bought this juice and I must say that given the price is a great summer scent. It's aromatic with blend of citrus and florals with a woody base note that keeps it masculine. Actually, given the price is 100% better the Francis Kurkdjian's " Lumiere Noire Homme " which I paid 90 Euros on special for 70ml and I can barely smell it on my skin.

Nice scent,very natural sweet woody and warm , good quality but not my cup of tea. Willing to trade my bottle (I used about 3 sprays) edit: I used this a couple more times and it actually has that calm smokey orange vibe, really special!! it stays pretty close to the skin, which I like and has an OK longevity - might be useful after all

This is in the vein of Boss Bottled, La Nuit de l'Homme, Layton, etc. Not my cup of tea, but as disappointments go, this is an inexpensive one, and a great choice to those who enjoy these kinds of scents. Great bottle, as usual, and decent strength and longevity. Pity that I don't like these compositions.

I got the impression after my first try on this perfume its smells old.. or something that old people would wear as their fragrance. Its a warm woody and somehow remind me of a medicinal aroma of traditional herbal potion
