Un Matin Dans La Roseraie

If someone would ask me currently, which one perfume I could choose to the end of my days if I could only have one it would be this. Not because it is an olfactory orchestra, or perfumery masterpiece, those I like to savour, but I could literally bathe in this. It's so easy for perfumaniacs become obsessed with endless chase of the new thrill of something unique, exciting, something special to feed the ever growing dragon of snobbery. As these turbulent times made us change our habits, or even changed our values and the whole worldview I return into the idea of the functionality of perfumery. I keep asking myself and others: 'Why do you wear perfume?' The reasons may differ wildly for everyone and I can't believe that when I used to earn my living selling high end nyche perfumes I never even thought of asking my customers this question, so now I can only assume what their answers would be. I can bet that for most of them it was to confirm their status, mark their teritory (yes, I mean the overspraying sillage monster wearers), appeal to others or simply make themselves feel better about themselves. So why have I been wearing Un Matin dans la Roserae mostly for the last 8 monts? The answer is in the thick layers of PPE and the grueling (many times literally physical) labour in a Covid-19 laboratory for 12 hour shifts. I keep reading people saying how it lacks longevity, and I just want to laugh because I can smell it for the entirety of the 12 hours and more, with only 2-3 sprays. It brings me consolation and escapism and I feel like clean and fresh fairy in the damp rose garden, and not a sweaty frizzy human pickle.

Do you remember discontinued Pur desir Pivoine by Yves Rocher? This one cutie very much reminds it! First minutes Un Matin Dans la Rosarie smells very special, more like freshly opened wet boutons of roses in the garden, but after 15 mins or so it starts actually pure pion. (that is how I feel it). Yes scent is quite close to the skin, but lasts somewhat around 1,5 hours. So longevity is not enormous, but not like body mist. Here you get longevity of eau de toilette. (which is good enough! For such lovely bottle, lovely scent and lovely price!) I put "LOVE" for this one. P.S: Also reminds "Evidence" by Yver Roches, but Evidence is mossy, while Un Matin dans la Roseraie has Angelica note.

A beautiful pretty rose, from Grasse, that actually smells of roses.. Not too sweet, the angelica and camomile make it more interesting and the cedar base keeps it fresh. Its a love

I bought this perfume in blind-buy because I read great reviews and it was very cheap, not expecting anything special or even expecting the cheap reconstructed rose of so many perfumes, but it was not the case. When the lovely bottle arrived and I sprayed it in the air and on a paper I was awaken up. UMDLR woke me up! No cheap lab rose, no piercing geraniol passed off as "rose", no thick powder... not even a lonely rose! This is more of a clearly artificial smell that gives back the idea of a garden when the rose lives together with so many other plants. It smells vegetal and I think it's the angelica with it's gently musky and herbal note that later becomes more powdery without screaming POWDER! The opening is powerful, a bit brain hammering and chemical, but it only lasts 1 minute and then it already gives the whole idea of the scent, which is not just rose, rather a cold fresh rose smell with a touch of lily-of-the-valley, an astringent citrus-like edge given by pink pepper and the dominant but gentle musky powdery angelica. I also smell something metallic but not disturbing. Within 30 minutes it doesn't change much but it fades and becomes less banging on your brain. I guess it changes on different skin chemistry. I wear it for myself, because my husband doesn't like it. I understand the review below. UMDLR smells good! Good, feminine, almost elegant but liberating and clean and inexpensive! The longevity and sillage are ok for me now in autumn with only 3-4 sprays. You can smell it and people around the wearer can smell it even with just one spray. It's a perfume that grows on you. When I bought it in summer it seemed short-lived, but strangely enough it gives its best with a slightly cooler weather and it gives off that clean pink pepper vibe that makes it a bit similar to EL Pleasures. On a synthetical fabric lasts more and becomes a bit sweet powdery, while on my skin it keeps more vegetal.
