Patchouli Premier

I'm very pleased with this fragrance. It's a nice, reliable, chocolate-y patchouli that seems quite versatile. It is deep but not too too heavy nor intense, and despite the chocolate it's still unisex leaning slightly masculine. It might be office-safe if used in moderation. In contrast, I have another choc-patchouli-based fragrance that I love (Avaratia by Memoize London), but I consider that to be more of a date night scent. Patchouli Premier seems like the kind of scent that would earn you a platonic neck sniff from a curious friend. There is also a pleasing, gentle spice to it that I like. I'm not sure what it is though. I find this easier to wear than Jovoy's Psychedlique, which I found too heavy. The longevity on PP seems good, and the sillage seems just right - politely noticeable but not overpowering. I'm no expert but the quality seems high, and the price makes it a no-brainer. I sampled and bought two others from the Jehanne lineup. They seem like great value for the money, so if you're curious then definitely give them a try (I swear I'm not a shill for the company!).

Many thanks to @supersaiyan for recommending this in the Oriza Horizon review. Received it recently and am coming to love it as much as my other favorite, Borneo 1834. This is great stuff. It's a bit less chocolatey to me, and more musty and herbal. Up close, I get a very faint hint of a burning note, like smouldering embers. There is a very restrained sweetness to it -- much less than most other patchouli frags I've tried -- probably owing to the vanilla. On a personal level, it reminds me of the acacia closets in my grandfather's old apartment in Hong Kong. I always thought they smelled of old clothes, stashed away tea leaves, and moth balls, but perhaps it was just patchouli all along? Regardless, this fragrance is very comforting!

A very dirty and scratchy patchouli, more raw and earthy and powdery smelling than its siblings (including Jovoy’s Psychedelique, SL Borneo 1842, Chanel’s Coromandel, and Oriza L. Legrand’s Horizon). Patchouli Premier is mostly linear on me and I love the sillage, which has all the things about patchouli that I love - chocolate, powder, sweetness and earth - but up close it stings the nostrils. The scent really sticks to you and radiates. I love it! But it's not for everyone.

the yummiest calmest patchouli. it’s gonna be divisive because it’s an interesting combination of patchouli, myrrh and vanilla. it’s sillage is so moderate a very intimate perfume. obsessed.
