Promise

From the second that i first smelled it, this became my #1 favorite perfume. Like if it ever became unavailable I would genuinely be heartbroken. It is my signature perfume, as I feel like it's suitable for any occasion. It's not super strong or offensive, but it has a decent sillage, like I'd say 7/10. My body chemistry works with pretty much all perfumes- but this one smells amazing on me, very warm cashmere amber with a subtle sweetness. It smells "expensive" to me, which is surprising because of how well priced it is. I get a ton of compliments and it's one of my fiances favorites on me, second only to Eilish (he loves vanilla.) I've read some bad reviews for this perfume which really surprised me. I know that everyone's body chemistry is different and everyone has their own personal preferences but I can't believe how many people don't like it. I honestly dont know if some people just got a bad batch, because for me, just smelling the lid is such a warm and inviting smell. I also read that some people complained that it didn't last long for them, which is crazy, because for me, it lasts all day long. It lingers on my coat for days as well as my car seat belt. Scent- 10/10 Longevity- 10/10 Sillage- 7/10 Versatility- 10/10 Price Value- 10/10

I tested this in the store on card, and it was gorgeous, very fresh, clean floral and woody! And I had to have it because I don’t own many fragrances like that. However when I tested it on my skin it’s Rihanna Rogue Love and Viva la Juicy almost a complete dupe of them with maybe the tiniest difference or less sweetness. I still love it as I have both of those fragrances and enjoy them a lot but did I want a third almost the same? No. Yet one positive out of this is that this projects on me quite a bit more it lasts around the same 4 hours as Rihanna Rogue Love but the projection in those few hours is beautiful definitely within 2 metres you can still catch whiffs of this. So if you want to purchase it for the woody floral aspect definitely test on your skin first.

I don’t get the bad reviews on this one, it’s a Woodsy, sweet and creamy perfume that leaves a delicious trail wherever you go. The notes are so well blended I can’t actually pick out what it is I’m smelling the most. I do see the resemblance to Viva La Juicy and Rogue Love but they both overdose on that sickly sweet caramel note whereas Promise smells more mature and grown up. I know a few people that wear this and it always smells lovely. The lasting power is around 5 hours which isn’t great considering the price of this perfume but I can’t fault the actually smell its self. I’ve never smelt fish or anything like that here, just a creamy, Woodsy smell that gains compliments.

This actually smells super good, and as time goes on I get more wafts when I move around and it is really nice and easy wear. I can kind of see the comparisons to viva la juicy and rogue love, but to me those are syrupy and headache inducing. This one is more smooth, toned down, mature and very woody. Fantastic smell and lasting power. I sometimes don’t like how snobby fragrantica reviews come across. Go take a look on google for this scent, it has over 600 reviews and a total average of 4.4/5. That’s pretty good

Enjoy it a lot, my fave of this series is One, but this one is nice too. Very much in the same vein as Viva La Juicy, but this feels like its better blended, softer with more creaminess, I can notice the pink pepper pretty well in it, as well as the honeysuckle/jasmine combo. Performance is meh but this is still lovely, I’d say you’ll get 3-4 hours of close silage, not a skin scent but a small bubble. I usually hate when fragrances have a “cashmere” note in them but I don’t detect anything like that in this.

Light delicate floral. Very pretty and intimate. Slight woodiness but not as much as One. It's a really nice light day scent that leaves a soft trail. Perfect for a signature scent. It really is beautiful. **EDIT** Oh my. I LOVE this. I mean I really LOVE this. I thought Limitless was my favourite of the three but I think this is. The jasmine/honeysuckle is beautiful ✨

Very feminine and calming scent. Definitely something I would associate with mothers, it reminds me of cuddling in bed with my mom when I was a kid. It's inoffensive, a great blind buy for people looking for a daily perfume, or just want something that's a little nostalgic.

Really love this one! To me it reminds me of Chanel Chance Eau Fraiche but a tad more floral. I got it as a gift and just use it everyday, I also use it as a room spray! On my skin it smells more woody and unisex than when sprayed in the room.

This reminds me of Burberry Brit, its sweet and warm. Love it :) I can smell almond. Its so good :) The sillage is moderate and it lasts about 5-6 hours on my skin.

98% identical to Viva La Juicy. Only WEAKKKKK. Holy hell JLO. What in the world were you thinking?!?! I got a 1.7 oz bottle online for a very reasonable price, like $33. Waited until I was freshly showered at night, with clean dry skin, and I gave about two sprays on my neck and about two sprays on each wrist. I kid you not...it was a skin scent almost IMMEDIATELY. It projected for probably...10 minutes. I have somewhere between 200 & 300 fragrances, male AND female in my collection and this is probably in the top 3 WEAKEST eau de parfums that I own. This is legit pitiful. Almost every EDT I own is stronger than this...and even almost every body mist for goodness sake that I own from Bath & Body Works and Victoria's Secret are stronger than this. To say something positive...the bottle to me looks kinda cheap in the photo. But in person, it's actually beautiful and it's made of quality glass / material. The only difference to me between this and Viva La Juicy is the cashmere wood which smells slightly cotton-like. Like a warm, clean sweater fresh out of the dryer. It's basically Viva La Juicy with that as an added note. My recommendation? Buy Viva La Juicy instead. It's only gonna give you moderate performance but I'm perfectly fine with average performance. This is WAYYY below the mark for me. Scent Itself - 8/10 Longevity - About 2 hours. Projection - About 1-2 feet for 10-15 minutes. Then it's a skin scent. Will last 4-6 hours on clothing but still does not project. Overall Score - 5/10. Totally underwhelming performance and extremely lacking in originality. C'mon JLO! You're better than this. I'm so disappointed.

The starring scent note in Promise is the sandalwood; not really a surprise, as Jennifer Lopez has said a few times that sandalwood is one of her favourite scent notes. The pear and occasional hints of raspberry compliment the creamy sandalwood note perfectly - such a smooth blend. I really enjoy honeysuckle, which really compliments the jasmine, orris and sandalwood blend. I'm also quite sure that I can pick up on some magnolia - another favourite of mine. There isn't much difference between the heart and base, as the sandalwood and creaminess is very consistent; the only noteable difference for me is a light undefined wood and sugared amber accord which develops around the four hour mark. The issue that could be considered as a downside to the fragrance is that it's quiet and dries down somewhere around six hours. A fabulous all-rounder, that I think is one of Jennifer Lopez's best fragrances since Still. Promise is Love & Glamour done right; being close to another fragrance means that Promise isn't original, but it is a lovely improvement on what was done earlier. Very smooth and elegant. I wouldn't call it a must-have, but I'll wearing my bottle very happily and if I see it on offer when my bottle is empty, then I'd definitely consider a repurchase. I think that Promises is an ageless fragrance, that is also seasonless and can be dressed up or down, day or night.

It's not bad but I get synthetic impression from the opening of this. The drydown is clean, gently floral, creamy, a bit powdery and very soothing. It's like being caressed. Some notes remind me of creamy Almond and Milk Palmolive shower gel. My guess would be that there are almond/peach blossoms or almond milk notes in it. I catch no sandalwood, maybe it's well blended and doesn't stick out. There's nothing woody or fruity about this to me. It's powdery and smells like cosmetic products but in a really good way. Like when you come out of the shower, put on scented body lotion and wrap yourself in a clean, soft blanket. When I smell it, I almost see soft, pink almond/peach blossoms all around. I'd love to have a hand cream with this fragrance. The liquid form doesn't match well with this scent profile to me. It screams of lotion/hand cream. It still lingers on my skin after a long shower and it smells of cleanliness. It holds very well on clothes too and smells elegantly even days after. I'd say that it gradually goes from powdery to aquatic. The strip is a different story. It's sharper and definitely more floral. At first I can smell primarily jasmine and honeysuckle on it, later it turns into a more blended aquatic, uplifting form.

I blind bought a 3 pc gift set on Black Friday because the price was great & free gift with it was awesome. This is a feminine classy fruity floral scent. Nothing new or unique but it’s pretty and nice to wear. In 65 degree weather in December Arizona is windy and chilly now. This fragrance on me lasts all day with the first hour projecting strongly to 6 feet with a scent trail. After that it is a skin scent but strong so anyone standing close to you smells it too. This is an easy perfume to wear to grocery store, errands, doctor or dentist office without bothering others around me. Would I buy it again? No it is nice but too generic and my huge perfume collection does not need this type of fragrance since I end up with too many after blind buys. Worth trying it & cheap to buy during holidays with great gifts offered.

Honeysuckle is definitely the dominant note, Promise to my nose is a soft white floral, with a light woody sandalwood base. There is definitely some sweetness in the opening blast, it's quite fruity, but that doesn't last very long. I would assume Pink pepper is a mistake, there is definitely none in here. This is a very very light fragrance, after a few minutes, I thought it became a skin scent, it has very limited projection, offering up literally no cloud. It's very light, very pleasant. I think this would be really nice for someone that perhaps struggles with heavy fragrances, I have two family members that suffer with allergies to anything particularly fragrant, I think this would be ideal in their cases. Nothing to dislike.

Ordered this one this past weekend. (End of January 2020. Should be here the first few days of February.) I'll be reviewing it after I give it a proper wear or two. Was debating on ordering the candle first as I LOVE to make my house smell nice. But I decided to try the perfume first as I was lucky enough to score a 1.7 ounce bottle for like $28 online. If I like the perfume...I'll be ordering several of the candles as they can be found on Ebay for like under $14. Stay tuned...I'll post my review in the next few days.... On a side note...I can't decide if the bottle looks cheap, or beautiful. LOL. I'm sure I'll be more decisive the second I see it in person.

For a split second I can smell something fruity when first sprayed but then I get a hefty hit of pink pepper (pink berries? Not actual berries, definitely pink pepper because I definitely smell it. If it were berries instead of pink pepper I’d like this a lot more.) Then it morphs into the amber/cashmere wood/sandalwood. I loved this at first because I definitely didn’t smell the pepper but now I’m not so sure. I do like it once it’s sat on my skin for about 10 minutes as the dry down is nice. I get zero florals. It’s a pretty scent and smells more expensive and classier than some of JLO’s past fragrances.

I like this. Warm clean floral. Very similar to SJP Stash Unspoken. That same Floral rose woody warm amber scent. Very classic. Surprisingly not long lasting. But. I didn’t spray very heavily as I didn’t want to overwhelm Myself. Beautiful bottle though. And not like anything else JLO has done. I will say it’s sad that as of late her perfumes are smelling like other peoples scents when she use to be a stand alone fragrance brand no one smelled like her and she smelled Like no one. Her glowing goddess was amazing and unique but that was the last one that smelled unique.

This is a warm, spicy-ish, very woodsy perfume. When I read the odor profile of Orris root, I feel that is the heart of this fragrance-Orris Root: A powdery earthy rooty scent, with woody, violet flower nuances. There's a slight sweetness to it, but it's very earthy. I find it a very pleasant, warm scent. It's great for colder weather, I think. I feel this perfume has gotten a bad wrap. I definitely don't think it's blind buy safe, but I would also test it out before writing it off due to the bad reviews here.

I like this perfume. I got it as a gift from my boyfriend and I can see why he picked it. Its soft, warm, and comforting. I would wear it much more often if it weren't for the fact that it has such weak staying power. It last a couple of hours and it pretty much just stays close to the skin. which isnt much of a problem as far as my bf is concerned because he stays close to me and can smell it. But I wish this had some projection and lasting power so I could utilize it more /: A lovely scent otherwise.

I’m not usually one for celebrity fragrances other than Ariana Grande and Britney Spears back in my earlier years, but JLo really hit it out the park with this fragrance. It’s very sophisticated, soft and sweet but also woody and mysterious. Like most celebrity fragrances though the longevity isn’t amazing. The price for what it is was out of this world, 100% worth it in my opinion. Scent: 9/10 Projection: 9/10 Longevity: 6/10 Versatility: 8/10 Price (at full price): 10/10 Overall: 8.4/10

This is much more elegant than I was expecting. Does smell a lot like Viva La Juicy, but a little more woody/cashmere and less...well, juicy. Where the woods in VLJ turn toward dry pencil shavings, the woods in Promise stay damp foresty, with almost a hint of mint/eucalyptus. The cashmere note is especially well done, and the scent is nice for most seasons. Promise is what VLJ wanted to be.

Wow!! This is sooo pretty! Perfect everyday kind of fragrance. It's a light airy feminine floral that feels very elegant and sophisticated. Definitely office friendly. There's something so elegant with this fragrance, wondering if it's the cashmere note? Very pretty nevertheless, easy every day wear grab, for any season tbh. Signature worthy scent and nothing complicated.

Great cozy feminine fragrance. I only really smell flowery sweet wood with some warmth in there. It lasts about 4 hours on skin and all day on clothes. Great for all ages imo. Has this sweet salty quality I really enjoy. Goes well with the signature Moroccanoil scent.

I like the perfume, for some reason it smells nostalgic to me. Generally it smells clean and woody, I also smell the tangerine and amber notes. It isn moderately lasting, the sillage is also moderate. All and all its an enjoyable perfume.

This smells like a weaker version of Rihanna Nude. I really like the opening- it's a sexy white musk with peach to my nose.

Smelled this on a lady at the store today. Had to ask her what it was. Super attractive 11/10

It's okay, it's very woody and peppery and I personally cannot smell the citrus notes in this. It's nothing special and smells very generic, but it isn't bad. Not for me, and I can't say I'd buy the full bottle after receiving a sample.

Promises, Promises. Starts off strong then fades from memory in less then 10 minutes. Weak, watered down nothing. Don't waste your money since you would have to reapply every 10 minutes!

Uh, I'm not sure what's happening with this one, but honestly, when I sprayed it and took a sniff (not knowing what to expect) I swear that I smelled rotten fish. O.O I saw a couple of reviews on Ulta that smelled the same thing and thought they had to be exaggerating, but I promise (see what I did there? LOL!) I smelled rotten fish! I don't know what could be causing that horrible smell on first spray--maybe it's the amber? I mean, this thing smells BAD, like those disgusting little paperwhites that come up in early Spring and smell rotten. I thought maybe there were paperwhites in this because I've smelled any number of unpleasant things in fragrances (from foul breath to poop to cat pee) but rotten fish is a new one for me. EDIT: I just want to edit this to say that it actually smells exactly like sardines in oil that have been opened and left out in the sun. Disgusting...

I've had my eye on this scent because the notes seemed to be right up my alley. Today I had the chance to sample it and yes - it's just the type of woody floral scent I like. i get the resemblance to Viva La Juicy but I like this scent better. I like that it's missing the caramel note. It's creamier and heavier on the sandalwood. Problem is that when I first sprayed this I smelled a fishy note. Interesting to read that I am not the only one to have experienced this. I also found that the scent faded really quickly on my skin. Too bad, this could have a winner for me. Perhaps it is just a bad batch or less than optimum storage conditions but that in itself attests a problem with the quality of the fragrance.

girl this is a flop lol. for the first second, it smells ok, but Ofn, WHAT is that fishy stink? i didn’t even spray it on myself, i sprayed it on the card in store. this fragrance is honestly disgusting. do NOT blind buy, i can’t be the only one that thinks this? it does smell decent for that first second, but by second sniff, it is like a can of tuna mixed with cheap perfume, or some kind of off smell... it’s not good. for what it’s worth though, the bottle is cute, & i didn’t try it on my skin so maybe there would have been a difference? but i don’t think so...

I know this perfume,it's like a trauma... I have bad memories, feel back in 80-ties. My aunt had small bottle of golden perfume oil on a shelf. I remember that accord - "waffers-vanilla" or amber gone bad (old amber perfumes tend have an walnut skin aftertaste, or waffer) + synthetic lavender oil note. It reminds me also cheapest potpourries. Now I know which combination to avoid (amber, sandalwood, cashmeran). Sorry, I realy like J. Lo perfumes (especially fruity ones) but this is not my fav.

I’m not sure why the notes listed don’t seem to be right at all to me. Looking at this page I would have thought of a sandalwood-based clean fragrance, similar to other offerings by JLO. I tried this at Ulta and it’s just a very outdated, sickening old vibe floral. Very generic, something I have smelled a million times. Really bad compared to many masterpieces by her, like Glow, Still, and My Glow. I didn’t like this at all.

This is disaster cheapo generic unisex scent. It smells like sour sweat. I was reading reviews and looking at the ingredients, defninitely dissappointed and unexpected. It smells bad on a testing strip and on me too. When I opened this perfume, I could tell it was a no. Try before you buy.

I agree with the previous review - theres something off here. I find it really sour.. like a milky curdled citrussy musk.. I think that's the balsamic side to it. Reminds a bit me of Hugo Boss Femme and Glow.. Dont like it, turns my stomach

As soon i sprayed it on my hand, It reminds me on Mexx that I had long time ago. Nothing new, somehow oily weird smell. I don't like it at all.

I bought this after being on the hunt for a new affordable everyday perfume after my old one became discontinued. I am in my late 30s so wanted something that was more mature, a lot of the perfumes I tried in this price range were too sweet for my liking. I tried it a few weeks ago but just on a test paper, it was nice but didn't really strike me as anything special. A few weeks later and being fed up trying to find the right perfume I went and bought this without doing another test just based on the notes and reviews. I am SO glad I did! On my skin this is creamy, cosy and warm. It isn't sickly sweet, it feels really well rounded and balanced. I can see this being worn year round. It's noticeable but not offensive in sharpness or sweetness. My partner wears Dolce and Gabbana the one for him and this actually reminds me a little bit of that in the dry down, but softer. This is the perfect everyday scent for my age group, maturity, warmth and it feels unique when I wear it. The longevity isn't as great as I would like, but I've changed from wearing the original Bvlgari omnia for 15 years which lasted quite literally all day on me and for days on my clothing, so some of that is me adjusting to a softer perfume, I have to say I prefer this! No mean feat as I've been years trying to replace my signature scent. I notice it on myself for a few hours then don't notice it as much, however I put on a scarf I wore yesterday and I could still softly smell this on it. I feel like this is a safe blind buy for anyone wanting a soft, woody, creamy perfume that isn't sickly sweet.

so i got this today & had super high hopes because i love glow & some of jennifers other scents........well this isnt bad but its just ok......i do like it........but it doesnt scream omg this is fantastic lol.......... in the description is says the essence of a powerful woman.......ummmmmm lol not sure where that came from with this scent - i woulds say essence of a young girl on her first job in high school or a college girl or someone in her twenties wearing it on a casual date or a daytime event........and yes older gals can wear it too lol i find it to be a light airy floral & the orris in it gives it a unique sweet scent............this is all good........i was just expecting something with more depth its very user & crowd friendly & very light :)

This is generic, but it's the best kind of generic? It's a sparkling(pink pepper), woodsy sandalwood. The lasting power is not to shabby, either. I got 6 hours on me, although it sits close to skin. I bought it, then put it away somewhere because I wasn't impressed, then I recently put on a couple spritz, and now it's better than it was when I first got it. This smells like a mom whose got her shit together, or when you go to JCPENNEY or Marshalls, in the women's section, it has that distinct vibe/aroma. It could be the cashmere note mixed with the orris root. It's smells of an elegant middle class lady. This is definitely a comfort scent for me. Jlo has one of the best celebrity fragrance lines, for real.

I purchased this yesterday just a small bottle. As soon as I sprayed it I thought of Burberry in the chequered bottle. It doesn't have the spikey like note that Burberry has but on me it smells very similar. It is quite weak compared to her other fragrances and once again I have to keep spraying it to smell even the slightest trace of it. I do like it but as with all celebrity perfumes now the projection and lasting power is terrible for me personally. I will have to wear it with another perfume just to give it some oomph as I can barely smell it. Maybe I can mix heat seduction by Beyonce or even Burberry or Beyonce rise with it. Not sure what's to become of it thank goodness I didn't spend much on it.

Hi! I haven’t smelled this yet...just wanted to offer a little tip: for people who are confused about the pink pepper note (or are interested in any notes listed in a fragrance) you can click on the note’s icon on the left side of the fragrance pyramid above. It’s great because it gives you an odor profile for the specific note. In the case of the pink pepper, the odor is NOT a spicy pepper smell or anything like pepper...it’s actually a contemporary rosy smell. Hope this helps! I find these profiles on the notes really interesting and helpful.

I really like this, its a soft fresh and slightly sweet perfume. Very day to day and nothing that hasn't been done before like Viva La Juicy and Rihanna's Rouge Love, but this one is not over powered with a sickly caramel note like the other 2. its a more mature version. I cant pick out the notes cause it's that well blended which is great! i brought a 50ml for £29 which isn't too bad i just wished it lasted a bit longer on my skin. I've had lots of compliments from people at work one even went and got her own bottle!

Ahhhhhhhh im so disappointed in this fragrance . I love JLO in every way from perfumes to music to movies etc so for me this sucks because this perfume is so generic! She has many gems in her perfume line and for me this one just didn’t hit the mark ,I went to ulta so excited ready to buy it and they had the tester and then I was disappointed, to me it actually reminded of her JLove perfume, it’s sweet , musky fruity , it’s just generic and nothing unique . Maybe the next one will better!

This offering is just okay, I like it but am a bit disappointed. I agree with reviewers that say it is quite generic. It reminds me a bit of D&G the one actually. I don't think it smells like viva la juicy. I think though people will like it, it strikes me as a 'go to' fragrance for someone who maybe doesn't have many perfumes. If you like D&G the one you may like this as well. I still think Glow is her best personally, but she always delivers with something decent.
