Gozo

This is the nectar of the Gods! More then a Godsend, this was crafted by the Lord Himself, His precious hands must have picked the flowers one by one! Smells like a David Bowie song! Like his makeup choices and like his outfits in full 70's Ziggy Stardust era! I can't even rationally go in deep and write my usual long, detailed and boring three pages review since all that I am left with after smelling it is joy and shimmering delight! This leaves me euphoric!!! Still, I want to be of service to the community so I shall try: the opening smells fruity to me, particularly like a smoked pineapple smothered in earthy patchouli, but without anything dirty about it. A tinge of bergamot is felt, but truly well blended and never disconnected from the rest. I feel no spiciness from the saffron, or leathery nuances, it is just simply sweet! Tuberose is candied, not bubblegummy but candied for sure. Like those jelly bears candie of mixed flavours when smelled all at once. A plasticky accord is formed, whether it was intentional or not I am not sure, but I find it so beautiful! It is kinda like a doll head effect but not in the usual way (generally that is the result of notes such as almond, heliotrope, hawtorn flowers, peru balsam, vanilla and even some musks), here it is more plasticky and round then that, not play doh-y at all and not even rubbery, also it's not sweet per se; it is addictive, trust me! And it does not subtract from the chic nature of the scent, actually by contrast it adds to it. Violet leaf and geranium give a fresh spiciness and a green dimension, accentuating the *lush Paradise forest* effect this has. Yes, it smells like that too!!! I can even imagine the multicolored exotic birds patrolling the sky...probably I am conditioned in this by its name, since Gozo is the name of a mediterranean island in the Maltese territory. Cedar and patchouli give a very strong base on which it all rests, but I don't find it much woody at all; it is a creamy cedar for sure, and probably there is some sandalwood too, patchouli is predominant with much body and earthness about it but not too classical (as in the one used in the 70's), it surely calms down the sweetness of the fragrance which, in truth, wasn't too much to begin with...there is nothing truly gourmand about it as others have suggested. Musk and ambroxan are superb and seal the deal perfectly. I must also add that I think there is much more to it then just the declared notes...surely some orange blossom, neroli and Osmanthus, some balsam too, maybe olibanum and styrax? There is a fresh incense and gummy quality about it. And something balsamic, ambery and powdery. The woody aspect is more complex too then just cedar alone so, as I was saying before, there probabily is some sandalwood together with other molecular woodsy notes. This perfume lasts an entire day on my skin and projects like crazy, remaining on clothes even after washing them. It performs like an extract and like a luxury product should, which makes me love it even more. The packaging too is on brand, colourful like the scent! I think it is just perfect for spring. In Italy this became quite popular after a known Tik Tok fragrance reviewer spoke of it highly, but I just don't care...men, I wish all the world could smell like Gozo! Jeroboam could scent my dreams for how much I am enamored with their house. I shall be on the lookout for everything the perfumer, Vanina Muraccioli, creates. I can see why someone would suggest Joop! Homme edp in the remainds me of section (Joop! Homme edp was one of my first love in terms of masculine fragrances); they have a vague similarity probably due to the floral notes and the candie effect they produce, but they are more similar in construction and style then they are on a pure olfactive level. Same can be said for Karma by Lush, which is more zesty but very much patchouli based, and specially for Calacas also by Lush ( known as Zesty, or Dia de Los Muertos/Day of the Dead, another favorite of mine), so much so that I actually suspected that some good old olibanum could be in Gozo as it is in Calacas...probably giving that smoked effect that I feel on the pineapple (or fruity) note, because it is incensey but also clean and fresh balsamic, or maybe I am wrong and that is the geranium note, which can have a pineapple effect and some fresh, green and fresh spicy nuances. Both Lush's Calacas and Gozo share an evocative quality that makes me think of the bewitching atmosphere of Halloween...of those fizzy and limey multicolored candie that children use to share between them while trick-or-treating in the streets and of the fruity and zesty cocktail the adults drink while celebrating in the same streets!!!! As for the vibes Gozo gives, I would say it comes forth as playful yet expensive and elevated, and it is truly unique and unisex. Then again...all Jeroboam creations appear expensive and luxurious to me. Also modern and peculiar. They are everything I imagined today perfumery would be like and they smell like niche should, in my opinion. I find all their fragrances so addictive!!! They have quite the effect on me...as I already wrote in my review for Floro, I sniff myself all day long when I use them, it's like I lose myself in them, trying to capture them, but again and again something escapes me...just when I thought I had finally catched the essence of the smell and all its facets they either change or present new accords, each one ephemeral so there I begin again...trying to seize that "sensation" once more! Probably this effect is reinforced in all their perfumes by their unique (and complex smelling) choice and blend of musks and woods; such gentle musks, clean and enveloping, with a mossy undertone, airy and cloudy in texture, so far away from the usual clean "white musk" materials used in compositions such as this. And addictive. Very aptly labeled by Jeroboam as "enigmatic" musks. Same for the woody notes, they are of exceptional quality, both the "molecular" and the "classic" ones, very nuanced and used in an astute way. Gozo, just as the others Jeroboam, has a magical, glittering feel to it! I can't stop smelling it...I even spray some large mouillettes with it and put them between my money, my documents and my credid cards...everytime I hand them over to someone they smell Gozo and I enjoy observing their pleased reaction! They are quite the experience those Jeroboam!

This one is an interesting one. Not lind buy safe - get a sample. It's oriental for sure - if you don't like that, skip this. It starts out very bad: like a farty, motor-oil-like oud. There's no oud listed, so I think this may be a mix of saffron, bergamot and cedarwood. You have to wait for it to go away before judging this, but how long this stage lasts may vary from person to person. It is absolutely nothing like what I would expect from the notes. After the horrible top notes disappear, it's a light, mildly sweet, warm citrusy-woody smell with really good saffron (a real saffron note). In the background there is some kind of white flower that I've definitely smelt before, but it doesn't read as tuberose... maybe because it's so faint - great use of tuberose. The spices are super soft. It somehow ends up smelling like mandarine hard candy, but in a classy way. The patchouli in this is playing peeka-boo all the time. Overall, it's a bit of a strange, but very addictive smell to me. The feeling it gives me is autumn, looking out from a window into the sunny, sunny weather while lying on a really soft, plush sofa. Just simply enjoying life. It also smells similar to the MAC Makeup counter during 2010-12, when Guerlain Insolence EDP was popular - these two perfumes share some kind of rare note. Or like someone said: it smells like a 5* hotel. I would enjoy having a whole bottle (which I did get) of this :) It is GOOD!

I am absolutely in love with this fragrance. From the very first moment I encountered Gozo, I knew it was something extraordinary. At first, I smelled it on paper, and even then, it stood out as something truly special. But when I finally applied it to my skin, I’m not joking, I almost shed tears. There’s something about the way this scent interacts with me that transcends mere fragrance; it’s an experience, a deeply personal moment of comfort and nostalgia. Every time I wear Gozo, I feel an overwhelming sense of calm. It’s like a motherly voice whispering, “Everything is going to be okay.” It transports me back to childhood, wrapping me in an invisible embrace that feels safe, familiar, and deeply emotional. I don’t focus on the individual notes because, honestly, this is more than just a perfume to me. It’s an emotional shift, a transformation of my mental state that makes me forget it’s even a fragrance. It’s worth every penny, and I will forever love, adore, and worship this scent. This isn’t just a perfume, it’s a piece of my heart. Wow. A very true 100 out of 100. Perfect score for me.

Not at all what I expected. But I really LOVE this perfume. To me, describing this fragrance is inconceivable... Talk about an addictive fragrance!! Blew through my 1oz bottle... Saffron, patchouli, tuberose, violet leaves, cedar, ambroxan, musk. I'd barely categorize this extrait as a "floriental" because the florals (tuberose, geranium, some violet) are pretty muted. This lovely perfume performs as a very spicy, slightly leathery, resinous, woody, amber, patchouli fragrance with minimal floral nuances. The perfume develops in a creamy, ethereal, syrupy nature. The dry-down dominates with saffron, patchouli, ambroxan and musk. The hint of flowery tuberose is perfection. Just purchased "Precious Jewel" Al Ambra as a more affordable alternative. Fragrantica and the Al Ambra Website list notes for Precious Jewel that are identical to the listing notes for Jeroboam Gozo. We shall see...just cannot afford Gozo at its current price point.

As a tradition for the last 10 years, I don't bring any perfumes when I go abroad. It doesn't matter if it is for summer holidays, a weekend or business trips. Instead, I make time to visit a perfume shop during the stay. It's all because I don't want to mix up my memories from different places. Each place means one more perfume to the collection just to keep the memories vivid beyond videos and photos. So... last November I went to Paris on a business trip. Rainy, boring weather. Endless hours of meetings. But then, I had an hour off. I went on my mission to find my fragrance d'Paris. It happened to be Gozo. Usually I can't stand tuberose, but Gozo knocked me off my feet. The distinct scent of cedar layered on patchouli and saffron makes it so very well blended. I get loads of compliments for it. And of course... I remember Paris in all its glory. Splendide!
