Insulo

It smell so incredibly delicious I wanted to eat the test strip. Creamy, boozy (as in vodka in vanilla extract), smokey (my skin brings out the campfire smell), warm and sensual. The jasmine and vanilla notes are blended SO WELL together it's almost lactonic. Someone pointed out that it has a citrusy note, which I first mistook for rum note - honestly I kinda want to pretend that I didn't know that and keep thinking it's rum :D. It reminds me of my favorite desert drink: milk x Bailey but without the sharp penetrating alcohol smell, very rounded. It's potent too. But it stains so careful around clothing. I'd wear this as a signature scent, maybe not during formal events but I wanna smell yummy and comfy and classy all day everyday. Edit: It lasted till the next day and the smell had transformed to a clean (aka no more smokey smell), soft, silky and feminine jasmine x sugar water scent. It reminds me of my childhood Tofu dessert Douhua, the vendor always put jasmine flowers in it.

If you're looking for a scent that gives you an immediate embrace, Insulo is it. At first, it might seem like "just" vanilla, but this isn't your typical bakery sweetness. It’s dark, rich, and a bit mysterious. What impressed me most is how it evolves on the skin. It starts strong and gourmand, almost like caramelized sugar, but soon a delicate jasmine note steps in to add a touch of elegance. However, the real magic lies in the musk,it makes the fragrance incredibly long-lasting and personal. It’s not a scent that screams, yet everyone around you notices and remembers it. I have to admit, the whole story behind the house of Jeroboam is quite intriguing to me. All their fragrances come in these small, elegant 30ml bottles, but they're all extrait de parfum concentration, meaning they last forever. I really like that "less is more" philosophy in the packaging, but powerful in the content. To me, this is confidence in a bottle. Simple, yet so powerful.

Lovely. Opens too floral and bold (not a fan) but dries down to delicious jasmine cotton candy on my skin. It quickly settles into a super gourmand with just a touch of floral to keep it fresh(er). Tilts towards sticky sweet the longer it wears. This is a home/bedtime fragrance for me and when I wake in the morning I smell like warm cotton candy. 8-10 hours wear easily with delicious wafts as I move. Projection not great but my small niece says it's "yum". Dosen't fill a room and that's fine with me. I don't wear this out of the house as it's too friendly. Review of successful full bottle blind-buy from Harrods.com, $89.10 on sale, for 1oz/30mL, cheapest price I've found. UPDATE This is so good I'm decluttering several other vanillas from my collection. A rare, back-up-bottle worthy scent.

My god this is good! Pure sweet vanilla. This could easily be poured into a cake recipe to replace vanilla extract. It’s so sweet and warming and smells absolutely delicious. It lasts an age as well, 2-3 sprays will leave you smelling delectable for over 12 hours. Beautiful in the winter and great in evenings as it’s so warming. A little pricey, it’s more expensive per ml than a Penhaligons fragrance but it’s worth it, and it looks great on display on the plinth it comes in. This can be pulled off by either sex and still attract the opposite. Careful if you’re wearing white though as it sprays orange. Scent: 10/10 Longevity: 10/10 Projection: 8.5/10 Versatility: 2/10 Price: 2/10 Overall: 6.5/10

This is absolutely gorgeous. I am testing this from a 2 ml sample and I have a full size bottle of Kayali’s Vanilla 28 but they are not very similar. Yes, they are both vanilla centric fragrances but Insulo smells more expensive, elegant and refined. Let’s say the most luxurious version of Kayali’s 28 if we must compare them two... Oooohhh, this is soo good!! So rich, so sweet, has such a beautiful jasmine incorporated within the vanilla and the fluffy musk. To my nose, smells like it has the most expensive caramel or crème brûlée added to the vanilla. It’s addictive for sure. And yes, I do want a bottle! This is so gourmand! Smells heavenly.

Big love. Far more complex than the listed notes let on. Very unique scent, doesn’t really smell like anything else I’ve tried. Completely unisex, not a light/sweet girly vanilla. I get far more Tonka/coumarin than vanilla, this has that boozy cherry almond vibe of Tonka but its sweetness is tempered by musk dry woods. The jasmine is subtle but noticeable and ties everything together. The fragrance evolves nicely but stays a boozy vanilla/woody throughout. Performance is among the best I’ve ever tried. Two tiny spritzes from my carded sample last 24hours on skin with noticeable wafts for 12+ hours of that.

Impressive dark vanilla fragrance with caramel facets, reminiscent of sweet coffee. It reminds me of Encens Suave but the Extrait version, which doesn’t smell much like incense and is sweeter. So to me, this is Encens Suave Extrait mixed with Bianco Latte... without being lactonic. The vibe: Caramel coffee in a thrifted china cup. Unused fireplace. Salvador Dali art on the Frame TV. Ricardo Arjona playlist. The Secret Teaching of All Ages large hardcover edition. Velvet latte colored Mario Bellini couches. *** I don’t think this perfume is powdery or floral at all like the notes suggest and I’m glad!

Shout out to RedDawnn's review below- you just saved me from spending $ I didn't need to spend with your Amore Caffe comparison. I'm wearing my sample of Jeroboam's Insulo now and it does indeed smell just like Amore Caffe with the coffee toned down, I'm not sure how I didn't notice it before since I wore Amore Caffe to the ground last year. It makes sense that I'm smitten with Insulo, and I may still add it one day because it's a gorgeous, decadent burnt brown sugar gooey vanilla (makes Kayali's Vanilla 28 smell cheap in comparison) but it would be an unnecessary addition to my collection right now.

I received a sample of Insulo, with a recent purchase, from Lucky Scent. Imagine a powdery Kayali Vanilla 28 (Vanilla+Brown Sugar), with the addition of a soft white musk note. This is what Insulo smells like to me. Projection is moderate; and, longevity (on my skin) is 12+ hours. There is nothing earth-shattering or ground-breaking about Insulo. I would place this in the categories of classic and timeless. A fragrance that never goes out of style. An option I'd reach for on days when I'm not feeling florals, gourmands, fruitchoulis, etc.; when I want to smell beautiful, without doing the most.

This is so beautiful. The moment I tried my tester, I knew I need full bottle and I purchased it the next day. It opens with some kind of fruitiness, I guess it's the jasmine. But immediately it goes darker, it smells like brown sugar vanilla with a hint of coffee and spice. I don't believe the notes here, it's just too simple for this complex beautifully blended fragrance. Definitely a candidate for a signature scent. I would take a bath in it if I could. Just only be careful when wearing white clothes, it's extrait de parfum and it can stain your clothes red.

I have a bottle of the OG LDBS by Kilian, in the black bottle with cofferette box, and the dry down is remarkably similar. They are also both a deep orange-red color juice that will stain light colored fabrics and the scent lasts 10 hours. This is by far the closest dupe I've found to the OG LDBS. I know this is an expensive layering option but if I'm wearing the newer/reformulated LDBS, I put this down first to enrichen the fragrance and provide that longer wear time. If you're missing the OG or are curious about what it was like, I suggest layering with this!

Opens with a dark, brown sugary vanilla. Slightly boozy. Reminds me of Amore Caffe with the coffee toned down. The note breakdown feels too simple and one-dimensional to be correct, honestly. To me it smells like there's more than just vanilla, jasmine, and musk. The drydown is much the same, just less rich. Some people mentioned that they get a cat urine-like smell, and while I don't agree I do somewhat see where they're coming from. The jasmine in this is more indolic than floral, but it's barely noticeable to me, and it blends super well with the vanilla.

Upon reading the main accords and the pyramid, I would not have been curious about this fragrance. I smelled it once a few months ago and I was only slightly captivated. Some time later I had it in a discovery box and smelled it on a strip of paper and had the same reaction. Today, however, I wore it. I think it is great. Warm, caramel, coffee, a hint of white flower. It is now on my wish list. A nice lesson: don’t judge too fast. I am happy to have discovered this perfume after all this time. I have updated my appreciation from Like to Love.

I do not just smell the notes listed on this perfume. I smell way more. They forgot to list coffee, benzoin and a bit of caramel. I asked someone else, what does this smell like? And she said: like milk coffee. To me, this fragrance smells like sugared milk coffee with caramel. A better version of Montal’s Intense Cafe without the rose and with a better quality vanilla and drydown. I did compare both side by side, so I can assure there’s a significant resemblance. I want them both.

When I first smelled this, I got 1985 Cabbage Patch doll head...and kinda loved it?! This is one I'd gladly add to my collection, but I'd probably most often use it as a layering tool to amp up the vanilla in other scents. I think it would layer beautifully with AKRO Bake! I really enjoy Insulo but am too smitten with some other Jeroboam offerings (Ambra, Gozo) to take this nostaligic-vanilic plunge solely to revisit my days of joyfully inhaling my vinyl doll heads....YET! ;-)

Sweet, floral vanilla. Jasmine adds warmth while musc envelopes the vanilla. It’s mature and slightly dusty. A great vanilla scent and safe blind buy if you like thick, musky vanilla scents. It doesn’t project too much which makes it safe for office, yet the scent is strong. Signature worthy, but it’s not a loud statement. It’s cozy. Definitely one of the better vanilla fragrances, though it doesn’t last or project as much as I’d like it to considering the high price tag.

One of my favourite perfumes on the market, on me it smells like a beautiful milky vanilla, longevity is there but not much of a silage. So creamy and gourmand imo. I read some of the comments and i’m really shocked i do not smell the jasmine at all, the musk is there but the star is definitely the vanilla. Lastly i’d like to add that Kayali v28 is nothing like Insulo. 10/10 i love it!

The first time I sprayed this I remember getting a nice vanilla vibe. Now I am working from a dabber sample and it seems to be reacting to my skin differently. Currently, the scent give me a dry, smoky, lactonic, and subtle hot cocoa, with vanilla. quite gourmond but not sweet. I'd want to sample this again before making my mind up on a full bottle.

This is beautiful. Creamy vanilla with a little (almost rose-like) sweetness. Has an almost nostalgic vibe. I get something a little dirty underneath too like tobacco. But it gives it a nice edge. To my nose and on my skin it is EXTREMELY similar to Thameen's Peregrina or M. Micallef's Note Vanillee so I will pass because I like those two better.

This may be the best vanilla I've put my nose on to date and it's certainly the best vanilla I have. It's blended very well; no sharp notes. In my opinion, Insulo is what would happen if you replaced the amber note in Rosendo Mateau #5 with a rich slightly boozy vanilla. Complement monster that performs like a champ.

This is amazing!! I get some fruit in the opening and coffee even if it is not listed? Might be the musk I'm smelling. much vanilla. It is a stand alone, never gotten anything quite like this. The jasmine is somewhat not there on me. Rather some light touch of wood in the dry down.

Forget the average campfire marshmallow. Is there a gourmet marshmallow browned by very expensive wood? This is that. I want it. I want it. I want it. Vanilla gourmand on me. P.S.....I got it. I got it. I still love it a year later. Makes me swoon. Damn, I smell good!

There is no way there are just three notes here. I detected vanilla, coffee, sugar, caramel, cola, smoke, liquer, burnt plum jam, tonka, musk. It is delicious, I love this a lot but the price is crazy.

This is a smoky, mildly sweet berry vanilla ice cream. Not too sweet which is good. There is no berry or cherry note listed, but on me, I get a Smoky black cherry ice cream. Delicious and sexy!

10/10 ... A dense, warm, slightly spicy, brown sugar rich vanilla. It’s almost impossible to describe, but it takes my mind places!! Had to buy a full bottle literally the same day I tested it

This perfume on me smells like a cup of warm steamed cereal milk with a spoonful of vanilla, wrapped in soft white musks. Very comforting smell and quite nostalgic and perfect for bedtime.

This is a rich vanilla cake, very delicious and sweet, it is a Extrait de parfum, so the performance is not a issue, maximum 4 or 5 sprays is enough. overall 8.5/10

Dark red juice will stain fabric! Reminds me of the original Love Don't Be Shy in the black bottle. Opens too floral but dries down to jasmine cotton candy.

I am surprised at the number of people who are not getting the sweet chocolate smell from this. I know for sure Jeroboam have some hidden cards in their deck that they are not sharing with us as the pyramid is definitely short of some notes we get in this fragrance. In the opening I get a light chocolate smell more like a white chocolate along with the jasmine, a light vanilla and musk. As it dries down it loses the floral smell and I am left with a sweet musky and instead of the light chocolate it began with a dark chocolate instead. Definitely gourmand on my skin. I have had it on for about 6~7 hours and although it projected more for the first couple of hours it is now within arms reach. I have been out walks through the day and it is a hot humid day and still I can smell it no problem. I think it is more suitable for warmer weather than most other gourmand fragrances I have tried as it is fresher so has more versatility and imo can be worn by any age and is perfectly unisex. Not being too heavy like something like Vicious Cacao I think this is a simpler chocolate smelling fragrance so could be a good starter for someone wanting to try them out, it is however more expensive than the likes of Vicious Cacao and others made by the gourmand specialists Mason Tahité so you could easily jump in to the really heavy stuff like that and not pay as much as you would for Insulo per 100ml by just going to Mason Tahité. If you have the money though this is an Extrait De Parfum and sets you back in to the hundreds for just a 30ml while Mason Tahite fragrances are EDP and roughly £100 per 100ml.

I have Insulo by Jerboam, Amore Caffee, Lattafa Kamrah Quahwa and YSL Black Opium. So, here's a comparison. - Amore Caffe is the sweetest of them all, and with the most amount of Christmas spices - Khamrah Quahwa is also very Christmas spicy and sweet, but it weirdly almost has some sourness, compared to Amore Caffe. It is absolutely not sour... Amore Caffe is just so sweet that the Cinnamon in KQ seems fresh... I don't think I smell any coffee in KQ, when compared to Insulo (which doesn't even list coffee) - Black Opium has as much coffee as Amore Caffe, but the sweetness is not as strong, also, the flowers and pear makes Black Opium quite fresher, in comparison. No Christmas spices in BO - Insulo is the least sweet, although that too absolutely is a sweet perfume. It has a dark vanilla, and it smells like it has a very tiny bit of coffee. It isn't fruity, like BO, and it isn't Christmas spicy as KQ and CA. I would say that the least similar to the other 3 is Black Opium, as none of the other perfumes have flowers or fruits in them. The next one is Insulo, as it doesn't have the spices. Khamrah Quahwa is the most similar to Amore Caffee. The most, most similar would be to mix Insulo with Khamrah Quahwa - it's the correct intensity of spices and sweetness. Although mixing Khamrah Quahwa with Black Opium gives more the correct amount of coffee.

I absolutely loved it a couple of years ago, used up 3 samples and decided to buy a bottle that I was really looking forward to using this winter Then Shalimar l'Essence came along, and the Insulo bottle got totally abandoned. Despise the notes, this is a bit more complex and very different from what the notes suggest. I don't really think of it as a powdery vanilla - then it's better to go with Shalimar l'Essence. Insulo smells like a caramelized coffee dessert with a fruity filling - like plum or cherry. Thus: to me, this is a gourmand fragrance - not an "oriental vanilla". Shalimar l'Essence is an oriental vanilla. This has vanilla, but it's not predominantly a vanilla fragrance. To be honest, I don't really think of this one as powdery, and whatever musk is in here, I sure can't figure out. All the notes listed above are just supporting notes in this, at least on me. It's very pleasant though, and when it fades, it smells of the notes listed. I would still not categorize it as an oriental vanilla though.

I love this one, but the notes description is waaaaay off IMO. This is a coffee-amaretto-tiramisu kind of scent. With vanilla, but more like a creme-bruleé note, actually, and it's not the main note on my clothes - it's something that rather appears at the drydown. Jasmine? Where...? At no point do I smell any jasmine. Very cozy, evening or winter scent. It is deep and rich, and probably also very sweet. Even though I don't feel it's super sweet, basically all of my other very sweet perfumes smell green or flowery in comparison 😅 I also have a sample of Amore Caffe by Mancera. These two ate definitely similar - not dupes, rather "in the same genre", maybe 85% similar. Those rating these as "not similar". There's slightly more vanilla in Amore Caffe, it is slightly sweeter (and Insulo is already sweet), I think Amore Caffe actually has slightly MORE coffee, but it's not as noticeable due to the amount of vanilla. T o be exact: Amore Caffe is like a mix of Insulo and Lattafa Kamrah Quawah.

There might be a hidden ingredient (or two) in the scent’s actual pyramid. For me—the illicit intruder is dry, earthy saffron. I clearly sense it in the opening, temping down the rich and luscious vanilla. The effect is underwhelming, as the vanilla in Insulo is rich, dense and gorgeously full-bodied. The saffron dulls it, adding strong, rubbery undertones. As a result, the scent becomes more complex, the sweet warring with the sour, but also less wearable. On the dry down, the saffron note weaves together with musk, further muddying the full sound of the vanilla and giving the barely-there jasmine a dirty, almost animalic edge. An hour into it, the saffron fades, and I can once again enjoy the thick, golden vanilla. On the whole, this isn’t necessarily an unpleasant scent, but one that falls short of its richer potential.

On my skin, this really reminds me of an aged Kayali Vanilla 28 (orchid/jasmine/musk) mixed with Indult Paris Manakara (candied jammy rose). I am picking up more of a candied rose and not enough jasmine. I find that quite unfortunate because I love photorealistic jasmine fragrances. Vanilla orchid with jasmine can give off a dark and smoky vibe. I don't think it's similar to Tihota, Fire at Will or Vaniglia at all. I tested this one side by side with Vanilla 28, they are similar but not the same. Insulo is definitely the older and more sophisticated sister. Perfect for Fall/Winter or evenings.

You can tell the notes without having to search for them. A very simple comcoction but done well. The creamy nutty milky vanilla also has some chocolaty nuances it's not the smoky vanilla which I like better. The jasmine is infact if good quality and indolic as well. The musc is just the sweet sensual white musk. Very feminine and very yummy. Montale Intense Cafe is much better than this. And you can just layer some jasmine oil. It's sophisticated and extremely pleasant scent but not something which will keep me glued to it.

I'm surprised to see that to some people Insulo is reminiscent of Fire at Will from Jovoy, because despite their gourmand vanilla DNA I think they're pretty different. Fire at Will is the perfume I would wear during the day, a plain gourmand, simple yet very enjoyable vanille. But Insulo is the one I would apply to go out after a day of wearing FaW. It is more complex, deeper, richer and more spicy. To me it is more reminiscent of Imperial Vanilla by Majouri. It's a vanilla that is more opulent and richer.

Insulo isn’t about any jasmine /white florals at all. It’s a thick custard crème brûlée vanilla/amber with a caramelised brown sugar topping with a spicy rum and cognac base. It’s very warm, very rich and pretty straightforward. The intensity of the dark amber/brown liquid reflects this brandy style scent with its caramellic fruity apple with brown fermented nuance. It’s beautifully created but it’s too boozy/rich for me. Perfect if you love the scent of sweet Christmas gourmand indulgence.

Either the musk in this is animalic or the jasmine is indolic (the jasmine is not floral/flowery). Edit: I tried again on clean skin and was better, much less animalic. On my skin it starts off kind of boozy maple syrup then turns to a slightly animalic sweet musk vanilla. I get maybe some pear, and a tartness, not powdery. Is not very strong on my skin. To note: behaves very differently on me on clean skin vs unshowered. Try both!

This is simply beautiful. Definitely gourmand vanilla. It's not to sweet at all. Warm sensual fragrance that sits closer to the skin. When you walk pass people will smell you and compliment your pleasing aroma. If you like a different take on vanilla and not to much projection this is for you. Definitely a love for me

I'm really loving this recently. Was craving a little Jasmine with the warmer Spring weather and this delivers. A sweet, subtle jasmine vanilla on a sultry musk base. Yes this is a kind of syrupy sweet, but still loving it in slightly warmer weather. I find this intoxicating on my skin, can't stop sniffing.

This is a very strange vanilla— but not In a complex way. It opens with almost a syrup and baby food like smell and it dries down to a crisp and mature vanilla smell. It smells like if a rich French woman walked into a bakery. I’m not too sure how I can accurately write this down but I enjoy it.

I agree with other reviewers that I would not consider this gourmand. Instead, a warm floral, touch of spice, rounded by vanilla. The floral reminds me more of a mature rose than jasmine. It blends seamlessly on my skin. I love it and think it would be beautiful on someone 40+.

Easy to wear musk-tinged vanilla with a dollop of boozy whipped cream. A little smokey too. I don’t pick up any floral notes and I think this list above is not complete. Insulo is a quality cold weather scent, perfectly unisex as it’s not too sweet.

Lots of sweet vanilla but with hints of caramel to my nose. Also detect a ever so slight spiciness. It is a simple fragrance that is very linear but it is blended really well. The performance on my skin was good.

This is a sickly sweet vanilla scent. Yes it is similar to vanilla 28 but I prefer vanilla 28 because although it is sweet too, it isn’t as sweet as Insulo.
