Dancing by Jessica McClintock

I actually love this (after the top) in the WINTER! The middle brings an actual animalic vibe to the florals that I LOVE! I cannot WAIT to try it in warmer weather where it can grow even more!

I rarely hate fragrances. I hate this. It doesn't know what it wants to be -- fruity, floral, chypre. To me, it smells like you pureed celery in your blender, poured it on the carpet, let a cat pee on top of it then sprayed it all with green apple deodorizer to try to cover up the smell. The End. HATE.

I picked this up at TJ Maxx a year or so ago and has never worn it. "Why", u ask? lol. I never wore it because when I carried it home and sprayed it I was instantly pissed and annoyed that the perfume may have went bad because It sort of smelled that way to my nose. I even tried it every once in a while because I wanted to wear it because I adore the middle and base notes. Today I decided to give it another try and started to realize that I can smell the actual top notes which smelled like realistic, very realistic lemon slices and green apples. I came here to check the notes and realize that this is what I have been smelling. I am very relieved. So I have come to realize that this is just the actual smell of the top notes. I don't like it, but I will fight through it to get to get to the beautiful mid notes of what appears to be jasmine and gardenia. I really love this phase of the perfume. In the base I detect some mild fruity notes. Reminds me of honeysuckle. I get NO woods at all. All in all I like this. Not a love though.

This reminds me of "Poupee" by Rochas, but not quite as synthetic. That huge Gardenia blast. Unfortunately I didn't like Poupee (or Gardenia I now realize) and promptly gave it to my mom (mother gets all my dislikes - she has quite a collection just from that!) So based on the amount of Gardenia in this "Dancing" it's a dislike for me. I was hoping for the standard nice smell of all the other Jessica M's, with some lily blend. C'est triste....

I have modified my rating to a "like". Later, after my bath, I reapplied "Dancing" and found I could smell the green apple much better, giving it a fresh smell. This will never be my favorite perfume, but it did have a much nicer smell on clean skin. Also the price was very good on at FraganceX- less than 30.00 bucks for 100mls!

This is a FRUIT BOWL IN A BOTTLE. This is not the typical McClintock scent at all. This is along the lines of Portfolio Elite by Perry Ellis because the enormous fruit in the scent. Its not identical, just resembles the fruit aspect of the whole perfume. Really nice scent but I don't smell woods at all, just tons of fruit.

I almost grabbed this on sale, but the gardenia references worried me. It can go either way, awful like Elizabeth Taylor Gardenia, or fabulous like Madonna's Truth or Dare. The lettering font is the worst I have ever seen. When I weave through the chain of smell alikes, Paris Hilton comes up. Not good.

Powdery violets in a bottle. Very feminine. The name seems to suit as it does float on the air. Light and pretty. You can't go wrong with this.
