Scott McClintock

If one were to hand me an anonymous sample of Scott McClintock and told me it was a new niche release, I wouldn't hesitate for a second. My mind would be blown that something so beautiful, with a nod to the past, could be released today. In the bracing opening, I smell fresh, apple-skin-esque chamomile and lavender over a bed of 60s style sandalwood, softly powdery amber and woolly musk. There is an unusual facet that I can only describe as vanilla-scented "new toy" plastic. It may at first sound not so appetizing, but I find it so heartwarming as it takes me back to opening up a present on my birthday or Christmas morning as a child. Another facet reminds me of the distant scent of mulled apple cider. Still another facet is herbaceous and crisp. The dry down is the most cuddly, huggable skin scent I can imagine. It seems to reflect a gentle, reassuring masculinity that harkens back to classic barbershop colognes, like a more enduring Pinaud splash or, as Varanis Ridari on Basenotes has suggested, Dana Canoe. Yet the preceding complexity make this surprisingly dynamic in spite of these comparisons. I don't think this was sitting at a Bloomingdale's or Neiman Marcus counter at the time of its release, but I could be wrong...it could very well be one of those mid-market releases that revealed a flash of brilliance, and it is no wonder that there is a demand for it long after its discontinuation. Primo juice!

Wow, I just revisited an 'old-time', 'back in the day' cologne, Scott MC Clintock! I forgot how long it lasts on. I woke up this morning and after I had applied it 15 hours prior; I still smelled it on my wrists! a light amber, musky sweet smell. When you first apply it, you should let it dry down a little before you smell it. I comes out at first with 'sweet- powdery notes;' but..., later, wow! beautiful, fresh, clean but 'understated' manliness. I love it!! Not only brings me back, but, doesn't disappoint at all. The trick is to find it at a decent price, ( since it's been discontinued for a while now.) not easy to find at all. Worth it, if you can get it!

Sweet and powdery and floral. May not appeal to many, but I like how unusual it is. First comes across as a woman's scent, but once applied, it's all male. I bought this when it came out in the 90's, and have not seen it since. Dreamer by Versace is the closest men's cologne that I can compare to this, but there are distinct differences. I'd love to find a bottle of this, for old times sake.

This is a unique classic fragrance. A very musky lavender cologne, with nuances of apple skin. Manages to smell both clean and sexy. Of course, its discontinued.

Was a very easy mens cologne to wear. Manly yet sophisticated. I would love to find a good deal on still today to have it back in my rotation.
