Fancy Nights

Fancy nights is definitely not your typical celebrity fragrance. And it has very little to do with the original Fancy, which I used to own but gave away because it never really wowed me. Still a good fragrance, just not my vibe. I only bought this one because of the patchouli, and as a huge patchouli lover, I try to get my hands on as many patchouli fragrances as possible. I really have to give credit to Jessica Simpson here, because this is a bold move. Especially considering her target audience, which I believe must be largely made up of teenage girls. The original would definitely be their cup of tea but this is sort of the opposite. Of course there are teenagers out there who might love this, but I'd be surprised if many did. That's not to say that I don't like this fragrance, I actually happen to love it, it just may not be what people expect when they spritz on a JS fragrance. It really reminds me of one of my all time favourites, Patchouli Imperial by Dior and I'm surprised I don't see those being compared while Coromandel is mentioned. I think Fancy Nights is a lot closer to PI than Coromandel. All of them stay within the same realm though. If I have PI on one arm and FN on the other, yes of course I can smell the difference, the former costs more than $300 and the other is around $10 and I'm definitely not saying they're the same. But I want to give credit where its due, the maker of Fancy Nights really did a superb job. Sillage is quite similar, I can tell which one it is I'm smelling in the air, but still, they're similar. Fancy Nights starts out heavy on the papyrus note, which I do believe might scare people off. It's dusty, heavy, and rather unpleasant for the first 10 seconds. It might even smell like it's gone off. But that soon changes dramatically. The patchouli note enters in its glory and it's all wrapped up in sweet earth. It goes without saying that if you don't like patchouli, or aren't interested in expanding your olfactory senses when it comes to patchouli, stay away. I'm always so surprised at how many reviews I read, where one note is dominant in a fragrance and people start out by stating they hate said note and then trash the fragrance for smelling like the note they hate(??). The reviews for Delina, for example, are hilarious. "I don't like rose/lychee/rhubarb in fragrances.. Blablabla... I really don't like Delina and wouldn't recommend it and it's just a bad perfume..." 🙄. So, this is a patchouli heavy fragrance, don't trash it for what it is. If you don't care for patchouli, you may saunter on to greener pastures of your likings. But don't leave a patchouli fragrance a bad review just because you don't like patchouli, pretty please. Now rant is over. Fragrances that I love always give me stories I associate them with. Fancy Nights is perhaps best described through what I picture when I smell it. The witch in the forest smells like this. She has long red hair and wears velvet in deep colors. She has her own little house that's located high in a mountain that overlooks a big fjord. She often stands on the balcony of her little wooden house at sunset, taking in the scenery of the ocean, mountains and the forest that surrounds her house and all the way down to the river that leads to the ocean. She is undeniably sensual, a woman in touch with her femininity and has harnessed her powers. Below her house is a lake where the animals come to drink. She grabs her oil lamp that casts a warm yellow and red glow to her as she makes her way down to the lake, just to make sure everything is at peace. She's wearing her forest green velvet dress, and has wrapped a soft, golden shawl around her. Her long red hair sways as she walks down the path to the lake, her cheeks are rosy and her dark brown eyes tell you that's she's completely in tune with her surroundings. She radiates beautiful energy, joy and the calm that comes with knowing herself fully and being at peace with who she is. She doesn't need anyone as she knows she always has her own back, although she might want to have certain well chosen people in her life. She understands nature perfectly and knows how to work with the natural magic and therfore she is an extremely powerful witch. Her three cats follow her down to the lake. One is completely black. One is a calico cat and the third one is a grey, black and white Norwegian forest cat. You can see their eyes in the dark, carefully following her, making sure she's safe. She's not afraid of anything though. She is safe in her forest with her animals. Once she gets down to the lake she sees two deers standing there and drinking. She nods to them and they keep on drinking, knowing she's a friend and not an enemy. She gets down to her knees because she needed a couple of things from there for one of her potions. She starts digging into the earth, eventually scraping out a root of a plant. Her fingers a covered in dirt and she puts the root in a little cotton bag. She keeps looking for more ingredients, picking up twigs, leaves and berries, crushing some of them to see if they smell like she needs them to for her potion. Her hands now smell like sweet, deep earth. Without thinking she touches her hair and now that smells like this intoxicating, wet, sweet earth as well. When she's done she walks to the lake and washes her hands, nodding again to the deers and then starts to walk back up the hill through the forest to her home. Her three cats follow her silently behind her. Once she's there, the leaves, the root and the twigs and berries will go into her pot and they will be cooking through the night. She's looking forward to getting to bed with this aroma surrounding her. Once she's sitting on her bed, she again takes in the view over the forest in the fjord. Right next to her bed is a large window and she can see the moon and the stars and how they glisten on the river and ocean. A bird coos somewhere. It's magical. Suddenly there is a low knocking sound on her front door. She smiles to herself. She knew he'd be coming tonight. He just can't seem to stay away from her. She gets up and puts on a long white silk and lace robe. In the moonlight and the candle light you can she the outlines of her curves through the robe as she walks down the stairs to open the door for him. This magical night is just beginning ❤️

A lot of people seem to hate this, yet I love it loads more than the original Fancy. My skin pulls all of the floral notes from Fancy and none of the sweetness. I bought, tried and got rid of it twice before realizing that I just didn't like it. The florals in it smelled cheap and would give me a headache. I was always looking for that caramel goodness but was always let-down. (The bottle was cute though!) Fancy Nights smells very similar to another perfume that I love, Prada Amber for women. The drydowns are nearly identical, with a warm, cozy, hazy, fuzzy, earthy patchouli. Definitely a patchouli dominated fragrance but because the patchouli feels fluffy to me, I really find myself enjoying it. The opening of Fancy Nights is more aggressive than Prada Amber but I personally don't find it particularly offensive. In 5 minutes or so, the dry-down starts and it's smooth, lovely patchouli all the way! Even though it's most definitely a patchouli dominated fragrance, there are other notes mingling with it to help round-out the patchouli, such as vanilla, amber, oakmoss, papyrus, bergamot and sandalwood. I really can't detect rose or jasmine at all. Many of the reviews here speak to its performance as being quite strong but on my skin, I found it to be average, (not a sillage monster) with moderate projection and fading after 6 hours. I find the performance to be on par with Prada, the only difference being that Fancy Nights disappears completely by bedtime and Prada was still present (albeit lightly.) I find the Fancy Nights bottle to be beautiful but then again, green is my favourite colour so perhaps I am biased! I'm sad that they discontinued this (since it was such a good, more cost effective alternative to Prada Amber for women which is also discontinued) but I'm happy to at least own a big bottle of it along with a travel spray which should last me for a very long time!

DARK PATCHOULI - Earthy, Rich & Vanillic. Opens with a burst of papyrus supported by multi-faceted bergamot with powdery, dry, aromatic, woody & leathery tones of papyrus highlighted. That deepens into the rich & earthy patchouli heart accented by rose & jasmine. Jasmine here bringing some near-licorice tones and rose helping to continue the powdery softness of papyrus. This all rests on a base of amber-vanilla & creamy sandalwood that's projected & brought to life by oakmoss which keeps it from getting too gooey. Overall I get a rich, earthy & vanilla patchouli scent with all the other notes helping to support and enhance different facets of patchouli in all its splendour - even picking up some white-chocolate-patchouli notes into the drydown. This needed a year in dark storage after the first sprays to come alive with the richness of the true scent profile and performance to develop. Before that it was flat & unsweetened with poor performance, but now it's a beautifully elaborated & vanillic patchouli scent. Contrast to Prada Prada 2004: These are different, but there are some striking similarities with vanilla & patchouli. I went through a bottle of Prada (Amber) as it used to be called, back when it was released, but it has a more forward benzoin accord. Roughly equivalent performance. Contrast to Les Exclusifs de Chanel Coromandel: These are different, but there are striking similarities with vanilla & patchouli. Coromandel is more complex and has a more forward benzoin-amber accord, and although Fancy Nights does pick up some white-chocolate-patchouli tones, the white-chocolate note is more obvious in Coromandel. Coromandel outperforms. Overall: gorgeous rich, earthy & vanillic patchouli scent with well above average performance with dark storage following first sprays. It's a love for me. Enjoy!

This perfume is bizarre. I purchased this for a song from Amazon and after reading the notes and reviews figured I would love this. Let me preface this by saying Fancy Love is my favorite of the Fancy line and probably the fragrance I wear most often and especially when I can't figure out what kind of perfume mood I'm in. That said, I am totally conflicted about this fragrance. I want to like it, but I'm not sure I do. But, I keep holding my wrist to my nose repeatedly so maybe I do like it and I just don't know it yet. It's masculine, but not unwearable by a woman. I get the "Polo" reference some have made. I also pick up the "library" reference too, which is most likely the papyrus, an odd note, IMO, for a fragrance. There's a creamy note in this as well, which is probably where the tie to it's "Fancy" sisters comes from. I wouldn't mind smelling it on my husband. I just don't know if it's for me. I typically like super girly smells, however, they don't need to be floral or candy coated smells. I like Shalimar, and Tabu, and Chantilly, and Jessica McClintock, and Vanilla Fields. I'm not a 'fume snob, nor do I dislike a perfume simply because it's different. I have a wide variety of scents but this just may be too masculine for me to wear frequently. We'll see. I'm not shutting the door on it quite yet. Will update when I form a more solid opinion. This is a tricky one... UPDATE: OK, so close your eyes and picture this...sitting near a window on a rainy day, curled up in your favorite armchair, under a warm crocheted afghan, with a steaming cup of Earl Grey tea and an original copy of a Dickens book, all while an extremely attractive gentleman wearing Polo sits by reading a vintage newspaper. THIS perfume is the olfactory equivalent. I've decided that I love it.

I had such high hopes for this after reading the articles and reviews. I can’t find what I’m craving, and sadly this isn’t it either. FN is the strangest perfume on me. There’s a really nice patchouli blast in the opening that almost immediately takes on a very weird oily quality that is not like patchouli oil, but something else entirely - motor oil fishy. It’s truly that awful, but it thankfully changes in a few minutes to a woody bright patchouli scent. I would be so happy if it stayed somewhere in that range, but it quickly fades in strength and moves to vanilla and then straight to synthetic chocolate dirt. There are about 2 hours max of anything resembling perfume and 2 hours after that of the faint, dried out potting soil with cocoa powder phase. This is a very dry scent, nothing luscious or rich, and so disappointing. If it works for you, I’m really glad. I’m continuing my quest. Update - I finally understand what some Fragranticans mention in their reviews about letting a perfume rest after it’s been shipped to you. I don’t get why it makes a difference in the scent, but it very much did with this one. My first unpleasant experience with Fancy Nights was when it was straight out of the mailbox. I tried it again two days ago and it was a completely different experience, like the fairies switched the bottles as I slept. It’s EXACTLY the patchouli I longed for - everything about it was stunning. It lasted a good 8 hours and still permeates the shirt I was wearing. It’s gorgeous, enveloping, warm, oiled, and resinous, beautifully blended, not a medicinal, dry dirt, cocoa powder or petroleum off note discernible. Giving it a few more tries to be sure, but that patchouli is just haunting to me. I think I see a bigger bottle of this in my future!

I actually adore this fragrance and I've never been one to buy celeb scents. This though smells so expensive and I just can't get over how this is a celebrity creation. When I got this I sprayed it into the air and my mom and I go oh this reminds me of magie noire from Lancome. I own the old Magie and I could totally catch that vibe when I first sprayed it. I know they are nothing alike in terms of notes but in the opening the vibe it is there to me. As some other reviewers have said I too smell the Shalimar vibe which I think is due to the bergamont in this. I personally really like this. The papyrus note I like but I love the smell of books but to me mixed with the patch I think smells really good. For what this costs I cannot believe how good it is. For me I wear this at night and I love it with the cold NY nights we're having because to me this goes so well. I will be buying more of this because I do like her fragrance Fancy as well which, I thought I wouldn't like but I do. To me though Fancy Nights is the best one it is so mature and it has great lasting power and sillage. At the end of a night it leaves such a nice skin scent. My sister could still detect the Bergamont when I could not. She especially loved it because she loves Earl Grey tea lol. I'm very happy with this and I own a lot of high end fragrance and this to me is just as good. It smells classy, makes me feel good, and to me is just gorgeous. If this was made by a designer company I bet it would be getting a lot more love. I am really happy that I have this and will continue to enjoy it.

So finally I got myself a bottle of this from online and when it came it turned out to be a very early batch from 2010. Is that a bonus or not, someone might be able to say?. Anyway, I bought this PURELY because of the Fragrantica reviews and polarisation. I loved that this fragrance got people talking and was like marmite in everything I had read, soo you just gotta try it yourself. As others has said I am struck by how non cliche this fragrance is. It is an unusual release from a celebrity brand and is definitely not what one would expect. Anybody expecting something like a Britney perfume better grab their coat and run dear. On first spray I instantly sensed the mystery this produces. I get cocoa beans wrapped in shrouds of parchment left to dry in the desert. I get a sense of power and magic like this is the perfume of an Egyptian high priestess. Maybe my imagination runs wild but that is what I enjoy most about little fragrantic journeys. On dry down the amber and resin really comes out and this turns into a very wearable and decent night time scent. I can definitely understand why this has polarised people but I have to say so far I love it. I am a guy but I sometimes dabble in fragrances aimed at women especially ones that have this kind of crossover notes and appeal. The more this dries down the more I think this could actually be a classy and different male marketed fragrance, nothing from this says strictly female. The sillage and longevity are very good and this might just become my little genie in a bottle when I need some mystery.

I tried this on my skin several months ago while shopping and was a little surprised ( and overwhelmed) that a smell like this would come with Jessica Simpson's name on it. I like spicy but it was overly spicy and earthy...to a point of smelling almost fecal....I know....gross...and the scent just didn't mesh together right for me. It was summer as well. I was, however, impressed with the strength and staying power. I found a 1.7oz bottle discounted today for $16 and for some odd reason decided to give it another try. I bought it unsniffed this time but so many times I have changed my mind about a scent that I just went for it. It's winter now and fairly cold outside. I've got to say that this time I was VERY impressed...I really can't believe how different it smells to me this time. I really really enjoy it! I should add that I'm a fan of Patchouli and anything earthy and resinous smelling and that's just what this is. At first blast out of the bottle, it doesn't smell all that great ( kind of an overly done spice bomb from the eighties feel) but give it a minute or two and if you enjoy an earthy-incensy-ambery-vanilla-patchouli scent, then I think you will fall in love with this. The longer it "stews" on my arm, the more it morphs into smokey vanilla. I keep getting wafts as I type and I feel like I'm in a head shop trying on amber oil while a cloud of sandalwood and patchouli incense swirls around me...mmmmmm. Today I eat my words.I'll shout it to the stars: "Fancy Nights does not smell like poop!"

This is a love or hate kind of perfume, and after trying it several times, I can admit it: it's my dirty little pleasure. I only purchased a 10 ml spray because this is not a perfume I would use everyday, nor can I imagine anyone doing so. It is potent and longlasting which is incredibly unique for a celebrity perfume. It costs a fraction of Prada Amber and similar niche perfumes and it performs incredibly well. The only perfume I had which performs as well as this would be Scandal by Night (which I sold since it was way too strong for me). Fancy Nights is not your typical celeb scent, it's not sweet of fruity floral, it's deep, dark, ambery, chocolaty, sexy. To me it smells a lot like chocolate dipped in amber. It lasts for ages on my skin and longer on clothes, and just a little spray while I lounge in bed and write on my laptop is more than enough. A great deal if you like these sort of warm and deep perfumes, the price is just unbeatable. I love this one. P.S. I don't understand how Fancy, Fancy Love, Fancy Nights, I Fancy You and Fancy Girl are in the same line. While the first three are actually very good fragrances, all five are completely different from one another. There is no common note or DNA, they are 5 different planets.

On me, I smell white chocolate and patchouli. When I first sprayed it I was transported back to 1983 and that made me smile. The scent is more unisex then female. It smells like something my grandfather might have worn. But then just moments later after the spray it started to smell more gourmet. I immediately recognized the scent as white chocolate. The nice thing about this scent is that it is very unique. It’s different and I like that. I would not describe this sent as pretty. But I would describe it as interesting. It does evoke in me a sense of comfort. I think the bottle is especially beautiful. I was surprised how many comments are on here that people thought the bottle looked cheap. Because quite frankly, I feel the exact opposite way. It looks more expensive than some of my expensive perfume bottles. UPDATE: On its initial spray it really does smell like an early 1980s Avon fragrance. You know the kind of came in the brown bottles that were in the shape of ducks and automobiles. But 15 minutes later this stuff is absolutely divine. The dry down changes very quickly and it truly is a beautiful fragrance. I will say it again, it is unisex. But it is still quite lovely.

When I initially bought this, I didn't like it. I gave it to my mom. When she passed away last winter, it came back into my possession and I tried it again. It's been five years since I've used this, but it's amazing how quickly this became a fave for me. Five years ago, what I didn't like about Fancy Nights is how heavy the papyrus is on the initial spray. It's sharp and painful, honestly. Now, I have better patience waiting for a good drydown, and boy, this does not disappoint in that regard. The papyrus disappears. The patchouli, which is also super heavy when you first apply, dies down and blends with the vanilla and amber beautifully. Another thing I love is that one spray is more than enough, so a bottle can last you a very long time. The sillage is intense, and the longevity is the best in my collection (and definitely the best of all the celeb perfumes I've owned), with it lasting on skin for over 24 hours and on clothes for as long as two weeks (!!!). Nothing quite like pulling a shirt out of my laundry hamper that I wore weeks ago, and still catching whiffs of that warm patchouli, vanilla, and amber. If you like patchouli and vanilla, this is definitely one to try!

This perfume was not instant gratification for me , the first blast is alot of papyrus , which here reminded me of an old wet book : acrid , sour , old ... Very odd opening - but then about fifteen minutes or so that weirdness turns into the smell of the woods during a damp Autumn day . Earthy , woodsy & moist . Amber & vanilla make their appearance soon , mixing with the Autumnal vibe . Then I got a whiff of the rose , but it seemed to come & go on my skin throughout the day . I find this perfume odd , gothic & lovely . This made me think of Daphe Du Maurier’s book Rebecca , which is a classic gothic tale that involves a dead beautiful woman whose memory still haunts Manderley , the mansion she once presided over . One thing I will note as well is that it did not bother my fiancee . Certain fragrances cause him to get a stuffy nose , so if Im going to be around him I have figured out what not to wear . I wore Fancy Nights & he was fine , no problems , no complaints - so I can wear this around him all I want. Lasts & lasts . So very , very different than the very first Fancy which is basically unicorns & rainbows in a bottle.

I blind bought Fancy Nights and found out that it is absolutely nothing like Fancy. I don't think they share even the slightest morsel of DNA. That said, I really enjoy both scents. Fancy Nights is a deeply forest-green chypre, and if you don't like papyrus and oakmoss, this is not for you. The bergamot hits hard in the topnotes and fades quickly, and once the patch swirls up it stays the entire time. The papyrus is really dominant, and I think that's a fairly unusual note to focus on, but it works for what Fancy Nights is trying to do. The notes don't include vetiver but I'd swear it's in here, somewhere between the oakmoss and the papyrus. The sandalwood sweetens the blend really nicely as the drydown settles. This is definitely a cold-weather scent. It's quite strong, lasts several hours without losing much power, and leaves a noticeable scent trail. It kind of reminds me of standing very close to a huge, fresh Christmas tree. Definitely not a safe blind buy - I can see why it's so polarizing!

I’ve been on the fence about purchasing this one for SO long due to the polarizing reviews, but since it’s becoming more expensive and difficult to find, I risked a blind buy. And...I LOVE it! I don’t get the damp hamper smell on me at all. I get what I think is a really-unique-for-a-celebrity-scent, beautiful, aromatic, slightly powdery, balanced with feminine and masculine notes, quality perfume. It’s for mature (in mindset) women, but it’s definitely not dated and I do not find it skanky at all. To me, it’s lovely. And I think all of Jessica Simpson’s fragrances are fabulous. I really like her vibe and I think she has great taste and style. I will definitely be wearing this when the weather cools, but I feel like I could pull this off in other seasons as well. And I love the papyrus note! So unique! I also think this would layer well with Narciso Rodriguez For Her EDP and with B&BW Aromatherapy Comfort Vanilla Patchouli Body Cream. Yum! Gorgeous fragrance!

This was actually one of my favourites when I first joined the site years ago and discovered it on a gothic fragrances forum. After the initial chemical blast like I get from a lot of synthetic perfumes, weirdly enough the patchouli and vanilla make it smell like chocolate on my skin. Not really the gourmand kind, but like a chocolatey vanilla mixed with wood and a hint of amber. It's now one of my love/hate perfumes like so many from eg. Tom Ford, Thierry Mugler and Dior. I would probably wear it more often if synthetic perfumes didn't give me such headaches these days. Also I'm in Australia, and most of my favourite perfumes are winter, cold days and nights frags. This like many others is suffocating in the heat. Lasts forever on my skin too. Leaves a vanilla, chocolately cookie smell. In fact years ago my sister asked what was that cookie scent I was wearing. It's pretty unique and I'd love a natural fragrance oil version of this.

I'm not into celebrity fumes, too tuttti frutti for my taste, so this is only my second one after Adam Levin. I was interested in the Patchouli note, but couldn't get my head around that 'old books' initial blast everybody was talking about, couldn't imagine it, until... I actually smelled it and Woooah!.. this is indeed a 'REALLY OLD books' smell... At that moment I felt regret, why would I want to smell like the Egyptian Museum?! But in an hour or so, it turned 180 degrees and my regret evaporated, there was a Vanillic, Ambery, Woody Patchouli that smells DIVINE! I don't get any Rose or Jasmine. So basically, if you are willing to go through the Papyrus bushes you will be rewarded at the end! And not only that I like it now, I backed it up with a second bottle, the only one left at the supplier and anywhere else, I don't think they will be getting this one again.. I wonder why.. LOL

"Fancy Nights" seems to be a liquorice fragrance to me. The combination of notes suggests dark sweet liquorice with the dry whisper of the papyrus everpresent. I don't get the rose though. Reminds me of Baby Phat's "Seductive Goddess" in a shy way, although "Fancy Nights" has more oil. The overall display of the boxing and bottle are quite lovely too and this perfume has a good deal of oil to keep it on your skin - I appreciate that. I will not say I hate it, sometimes you have to buy a fragrance, perhaps in a miniature or a sample size and wear it before asserting either love or hate. I am no gourmand lover and this is why I gave my sister my Fancy body spritz. I don't like burnt sugar or caramel at all so I'm glad caramel is not in the combination here. From what I tested on my wrist it was ok....definitely a come and sample again before deciding to buy. Enjoy.

This is such a beautiful perfume, seriously kicking myself for not buying this when 100ml bottles where £10 each. Those are all gone so I've got my 30ml & 50ml on the way for a more expensive price. The scent itself is so earthy and warm i cannot wait to wear this in the Autumn when its getting colder and misty out. A patchouli and crushed leave's vibe for sure. It smells like walking through a forest with deep green mossy earth all over the floor and really tall dark tree's with a light misty rain coming through. I can see why people are repulsed by this but this is my kind of perfume and it lasts for hours. Jessica really chose well when she worked with the perfumer for this cause it's not like your typical celeb frag. Really hope we start to get some more bottles in the UK before its discontinued and gone for ever. Love Love Love!

You have to really love patchouly to appreciate this unik perfume. It has nothing in common with Fancy and should be a stand alone perfume in its own right. I have a 6ml roll-on, so the application is modest, the opening is brief and the scent sits rather close to skin with minimal silage, after a minute it becomes the richest, most round and almost earthy patchouly that stays for hours. Fullbodied, beautifull and intriguing, yet private enough. Can not be compared to Prada Amber/ Amber Intense as those two are much lighter perfumes and are all about sweet amber. Fancy Nights is not that sweet, has much more depth to it and gracefully adds it to other compositions if layered. I would definetely get a full bottle just to try the opening with a spray and amp up the volume. Tested on cold/dry skin in cold/dry climate

This is a masterpiece. Having said that, I only like the very end of this perfume. The first few hours smell too cardboard and earthy and bitter. The lasting power is very impressive. I used to use this if I was going long distance somewhere, and by the time I arrived at destination (6-8 hours later), it was perfect. It was at its never ending luxurious dry down. It really is good quality for longevity. What I've done recently is sprayed it in my daily prayer book and it took about a week for the gorgeous amber vanilla to come through. Now I smell this gorgeous part every day in my daily prayer book. Hasn't changed or worn off at all. I love the smell of old books but I also love the smell of heaven in a book. ❤️ So if you want to preserve a scent, literally forever, spray it in your favourite book. 😉

An earthy, strong, chocolatey perfume with a hint o' pepper is what this fragrance dries down to on me. I LOVE it! And although the patchouli is assertive, it is tempered and well rounded by the rose, papyrus, oakmoss, bergamot and other notes. Some don't like the bottle but oh.....well, it connotates the witching hour, a brew, a potion.....fancy what is coming out of the pot of the alchemist so to speak. I adore the mature outlook of the nose who aided Jessica Simpson on this. Very well done and quite artisan for a celebrity perfume. As I said in the first review, it can also smell like dark liquorice to my nose but its all good. Nuances of "Seductive Goddess" by Baby Phat but the dry down here is a deep chocolate amber. I'm glad to have it in my olfactory arsenal for nights!

It's interesting to me that this is such a polarizing scent. I'm in the camp of loving it! It is dark and smooth patchouli, amber, papyrus and vanilla. It smells a bit like dark chocolate on my skin. I don't find it super strong as far as sillage goes but about average. This can hold its own against any department store scent. I can't even believe that I just typed that out! Damn it, Jessica... I can't be a perfume snob and hate on celebrity perfumes anymore!! I get that not everyone is going to love a scent. It's ok. There are many perfumes that I dislike and don't work with my chemistry. Bill Blass Nude was a synthetic mess on me, but Bijan Nude is amazing. Go figure! I'm happy I blind bought Fancy Nights. One of my best 10.00 purchases 😁 ❤️

Well, this is not the typical fruitchuli celeb scent. This is something else. The opening is smoky/dry/leathery and different from anything I ever smelled, in a good way. After couple of minutes it changes completely, it melts on the skin like butter. The dry down is soft, earthy and ambery, stunning. I am so glad I bought this even though the reviews are more on the negative side. To me, this is a wonderful, surprising, elegant fragrance with an amazing/gentle dry down. Edit: after couple wearings Fancy Nights turned into one of my favourite fragrances for life. If you like woody, deep, mysterious scents this is your gem. This should get more love: it's a daring fragrance in a line known mostly for sweet gourmands. I've gone through a travel spray size trying to figure out whether I like it or not. Fast forward to ultimately ordering a full bottle: I do. The opening note is strange -- I guess papyrus + bergamot make an offbeat papery-dry herbal top note but then the patch and vanilla kick in. It's mostly patchouli and vanilla to my nose but it's the sort of patchouli you could imagine as dark bitter chocolate. There are traces of floral and something vegetal and it all keeps me interested. The ending drydown vanilla is a good one and worth waiting for with hints of creamy sandalwood and chocolate and spice.

This is absolutely excellent! I am very impressed. I purchased a 1 oz. bottle, and was expecting the standard celebrity interpretation of plasticky amber and overly processed spun sugar. Instead, I was enveloped in an exceptionally decadent cascade of well-blended amber. vibrant patchouli, and a woody papyrus. The overall impression is intoxicating, sophisticated, yet warm and comforting. It may seem intimidating at first sniff, but is very wearable and incredibly inviting. It reminds me of Habanita L'Espirit (the white bottle),I was pleasantly taken aback when I made the connection. Definitely purchase, it is extremely affordable, and a worthwhile addition to a fragrance collection.

Fancy Nights defies all of the usual expectations of a celebrity fragrance. It is not generic, it does not perform badly, and it certainly is not sickly sweet. Fancy Nights is a grown up, well rounded fragrance, presented in a beautiful bottle. This isn't a linear fragrance, it opens up with that smooth papyrus note, the lime is there, but like the Jasmine, not prominent, then it smooths down to a powdery Amber. However the main presence from start to finish, is patchouli, one of my favourite smells, it is potent, love it. I always thought this was a brave blend, as it lacks a distinct super sweet note. It performs very well, strong projection and very good sillage.

I'm not familiar with Jessica Simpson's music, but I've been a fan of her since the Y2K era. She resonates with me as a Jayne Mansfield type, sexy and all-American, sterotyped as a dumb blonde but actually a Bad Bitch. Therefore I'm excited to say: Great job, Jess! Here's something grown-up and tasty! A serious entry in the celeb scent catalogue, a category I usually avoid. This is a REAL chypre, with oakmoss, bergamot, ever-so-slightly dirty patch and amber. MUST love patchouli, but don't be scared! This heavy patch has human warmth, fluffiness, and 100% femininity. The supporting florals and vanilla make this delicious and easy to understand. I love it!

So again, I went and blind bought yet another perfume...(I love the experience, so sue me! ;D) At first spray, I thought "uh oh, I made a mistake", but I'm a patient person, so I gave her the chance to settle down. I'm so glad I did, because she redeem herself and then some! What a gorgeous fragrance! Patchouli, woods, amber and that papyrus note so unusual and comforting at the same time. Fancy nights smells like a mysterious lost library in the woods. She's earthy, woodsy and spicy. Sensual, exotic and classy. Lasts about 6 hours on me. Great inexpensive fragrance for cold weather, with lots of personality and not for everyone. I love it!

I was going to blind buy Prada Amber but bought this instead because people are saying the two are very similar. I don’t get greenness or strong patchouli. I wish I got patchouli, as it’s one of my favorite notes. This smell is sooo familiar but I don’t know from where. I’m getting deep powdery vanilla and amber. It’s a very comforting scent to me and someone described it as chocolate like. I get that. Smells very grown up to me in a sophisticated way. For the price it’s a good buy. Edit: I have come to LOVE this perfume. I always want to wear it at bedtime (the weather is getting too warm to wear it normally). I think it’s so yummy!

Indeed a patchouli bomb. The first ten minutes are overwhelming and then a softer side develops with honey sweetness. Patchouli continue throughout. I doubt I would wear this if I was in close quarters with others for extended periods of time. (Oud is another scent I adore, but would not inflict on others who abhor strong scents, Because it is so different from the current vogue it would definitely draw attention.) I would wear this outdoors, going for walks public festivals etc. I wear fragrances for myself but recognize that others may not share my taste and try to be sensitive to others. Definitely unisex.

This is one of my all time favorites and I have worn it for years and years. When it came out, everything else I was smelling was so sweet that my nose was begging for something different, something interesting, something I had never smelled before and this was it. People either love or hate this it seems. I definitely get the most compliments from others when i wear this, but I am guessing those that hate it are just being polite xD The people that love it REALLY love it, as I do. I think any scents with as much patchouli and papryus as this has take a lot of lady balls to wear and pull off.

A deliciously intoxicating, sultry, deep, spicy amber concoction. It has such an addictive quality to it. I smell no rose at all (which I prefer), but a very deep seductive amber mixed in with the spicy patchouli. I purchased a tester version as an afterthought since it was on clearance and I was slightly curious. What a big surprise! LOVE at first sniff! This celebrity scent is not only unique-smelling but it PERFORMS! Huge sillage and longevity. I can't believe this gem is being discontinued (...or so I heard?) :( 8/10

Wow..I still like this after all these years..I got a new bottle and my bottle is authentic and i feel like the vanilla has tamed down a lot but it still smells like prada prada..it still has that patchouli with vanilla pudding...oh man i love any vanilla that is creamy or like pudding...i know this is not for everyone but this is wonderful for me and such a good cheapie...so underrated and so scrumptious! And it's still going and it's been hours ago...what a little gem..such a pretty green bottle too...very arabic..

Great cheapie-but-goodie. It's quite comparable to Prada Amber; although I'd say PA is a bit more versatile whereas Fancy Nights is pretty specific. The weird thing about FN is while its long-lasting (as these types of incense scents tend to be), it doesn't radiate much. Sticks very close to the skin unless you spray and spray and spray. Most folks wouldn't wear FN regularly-- just way to intense. But it's good to have around as a mixer-upper. And it costs almost nothing for a full sized bottle. Safe to blind buy.

I absolutely LOVE this thing! I have to agree with the comment below. This isn't as bad as everyone think. I thought it was going to be really loud, thrashy, dirty or whatsoever but all I got is a soft, sweet earthy patchouli with some sandalwood incense sticks in the background. It reminds me of the lotion from Paco Rabanne Black XS for Her which smells absolutely 90% vanilla earthy patch. It DOES smell like classy, expensive wooden cabinets. Great for evening formal events, and is pretty much unisex.

Evocative of Kenzo Jungle L'Elephant. Veers into rose where Jungle veers to ylang ylang and spice. I wore patchouli a lot during "The Dark Ages" of avoiding synthetic scent. Now my nose is ruined for it. When it's blended into scents I don't recognize it very well. This is good if you like bright, spicy scents. Not a love because of a sourness but it's interesting. It lasts a long time. Update: Really impressed with the drydown. It softens and lasts. Comforting. I love this now.

I really like this fragrance. Its patchouli-papyrus notes remind me of old books but with patchouli sprayed on them. I don’t think I could wear this in hot weather as it’s quite polarising. Moderate sillage but lasts only 4 hours on my skin. I can understand many people may not like this but I think it’s a good patchouli scent without the the typical fruitchoulis that is more common in perfumes. A good non-typical celebrity fragrance.

This fragrance garners a lot of hate and so it was with me for years. Strangely, after being on my shelf for ages it took smelling Reminiscence Patchouli for me to actually ‘get it’ with this and now I really love it. I really love patchouli and the more ‘dirty hippie’ the patchouli the better. Just as well I’m completely unconcerned about offending others and wear fragrances to please myself since I’m now going to wear it more often.

I like this. A lot. This is never gonna be as complex as Coromandel edp. But that's okay. I own both. Fancy is cheaper. And may I suggest, stronger. Okay. Okay. Maybe that's blasphemy. But I think it's stronger. If Coromandel is an angelic chorus full of lighter airier notes of sophistication. Fancy is demonic. Darker and sweeter. The question is... who do ya wanna be tonight? good or bad

Looks very eastern promise and expensive and high quality. £10 on eBay for a new bottle in original box. Blind bought after reading the positive favourable reviews. Smells EXACTLY LIKE Prada Amber. Best blind buy I have ever purchased. Try it you will love it.

At first, I didn't like this fragrance. I wore it once and thought this was very masculine. As a woman, I usually enjoy wearing masculine fragrances. Months later, I decided to give Fancy Nights another try, and now baby I love it lol. I like to layer with Vanilla 28 or Pink Sugar body oil. The Sillage is Absolutely Amazing! It's definitely a compliment-getter for sure.

How come one could possibly think of witches in a scent that is impregnated with old "library" atomsphere? Well kept old books, scrolls? OK, there's a hint of Sycorax ... and Ariel for the sake of earthness not dirtness, and that is just part of a dream. However, Fance Nights sits very close between Prada Amber pour Femme and Chanel Coromandel. Period. It is tah good.

This is indeed a patchouli bomb - which I have NO issue with as it is one of my favourite notes. It's certainly not for everyone however it's a much more mature offering than most celebrity perfumes, and is very powerful when first applied. However it mellows right down after some time and softens. I will continue to purchase until it's discontinued.

Wow. This is gorgeous. If mother earth wore perfume this would be it. The patchouli rose and jasmine are very noticeable. It gives off a very earthy mossy sweet powdery scent. So unique. I noticed Gucci Rush similarities, if you like one you will like the other. Decent sillage and long lasting. Pity the price on this keeps being hiked up.

Fancy Nights is very masculine. Smells like Salem warlocks and witches. Best worn at nightime especially Halloween. All my female friends agree that this is a man's cologne, nothing feminine and commented that perhaps the marketing label made an error. Most of my male friends like it. I am glad l found this. Very inexpensive.

It's a fragrance that's been updated from an old world powder bomb! It's mossy, wet , dirty and earthy. I would definitely have passed on this fragrance years ago but instead I now feel nostalgically drawn to it but only in small doses! It reminds me of the past and I don't know why it's weird but in the best way.

Purchased a rollerball of this, my first oil. The notes were intriguing and I have to say this is not your typical celebrity fragrance. It's deep and earthy and rich. I may have to get a bottle in the future. I own body mists of Fancy and Fancy Love, but Fancy Nights is my favorite of the three.

Wow that papyrus note is amazing! My first impression was moth balls. Moth balls in a dusty cupboard full of old books. Really woody! When that dies down this reminds me of the 70's/80's fumes like Panache and Charlie. This is definitely not your typical celebuscent.
