Arabian Nights Private Collection

I am fortunate enough to have been able to purchase a bottle of this fairly rare fragrance. I have been a huge fan of the original Arabian Nights by Jesus del Pozo for years, but just recently discovered that this related fragrance was available. First Impression: the box that the bottle comes in is beautiful & appears to be made from leather (this is a first for me). The bottle itself is an inversion of the original Arabian Nights, with the gold plated metal on the whole of the bottle and the decorative black metal lace around the rim. Definitely a good show piece. Initial spray: the initial burst this fragrance gives off changes very quickly. It starts with a very intense smell of smokey incense flanked by Cedar, Olibanum, Musk, and what smells like Oud (even though I know there is no oud in this fragrance). Once the dust settles, after a couple minutes, the smokey smell gives way quite a bit, and you smell the real scent. Beautiful accords of Olibanum, Violet and Musc stand out in the fore-front for hours, complimented by the slightly weaker accords of Cedar, Amber, Spices, and even Suede. The longevity is amazing, even considering this is an EDP. The sillage is also very good, although not quite as blunt as the sillage of the original Arabian Nights. For me, I can smell this on someone from around 8-10 feet away (compared to the original Arabian Nights which I could probably smell on a person from up to 20 feet away) Overall, this fragrance is a must-have for anyone looking for a Moroccan (or Andalucian) inspired incense/spice perfume. Worth every penny. Sillage: 7/10 Longevity: 10/10 Quality: 10/10

Not sure why the previous reviewer couldn't smell the incense in this perfume. Maybe they had a sample that was accidentally decanted from the wrong bottle by the vendor. To me, the incense is blatantly obvious. I'm a big fan of the regular Jesus Del Pozo Arabian Nights. I was expecting more of the same with this one, not having read the Fragrantica reviews as carefully as I should have. Luckily it all worked out. The fragrance smells great. It's got the incense note but it's refined by the addition of floral and woody notes. I really liked Amouage Interlude for Men, but it has a few limitations. Firstly it's too powerful for many situations. And secondly it has a burnt-logs-on-the-campfire quality that's a little harsh. Jesus Del Pozo's Arabian Nights for Men Private Collection has the incense without the excessive projection or sillage of Interlude, plus it also is free of Interlude's burnt wood note. Which basically means you can wear this in a wider range of places and situations than you could ever wear Interlude. I've been sniffing my wrists and the bottle sprayer ever since receiving this. That's always a good sign. As another reviewer mentioned, the packaging is really nice too. Even my girlfriend was impressed. And she liked the scent, which is more important. Thoroughly recommended if you like incense fragrances. EDIT: For the previous poster who asked about the differences between this and the regular Arabian Nights for men - this has the incense note, while the regular version doesn't. The rose note in this version is less strong than the rose note in the regular version.

I've discovered JdP Arabian Nights line on my trip to Dubai. If only I knew it would be so hard to find anywhere else. After some research, I found one online butique from Marbella, Spain - and prices were higher than I expected. I was originally after the EDP (Black bottle with golden details) and EDT (Black bottle with blue details). But ended up finding the golden bottle with black details, which is supposedly the "private collection". I must say it is not groundbreaking, because, well...I have smelled similar perfumes before. Most known ones are Gucci PH and Bentley Absolute which I own. And I can't find the "edge" in JdP Arabian Nights Private Collection. Actually it has a great cedar-cypriol-incense backbone, almost Comme des Garcon-esque, but what I feel lacking is the toppings. For example, Santal 33 takes a similar backbone and transforms into a violet leaf/cucumber/suede leather concoction. Halfeti, Oud Malaki type fantasy ouds take similar profiles and enrich with spices, aromatics and woody ambers, sandalwood, musk. The perfume can be best described as sawdust woody and smoky, and on my skin it is quite subtle. Subtle in a way many people would complain considering the price. The scent is great, it smells quite "zen", like Japanese woods mix - hinoki, sugi, hiba etc. There's quite a realistic "Shinto temple" scent to it, if you ever smelled the structure woods in one.

I got this fragrance from the Malaga airport a few years back. That I am obsessed with it is an understatement. On my skin, it does have a hypnotic smell. As a woman, I never thought I would be considering a man's fragrance to be the best smell on me but...here it is. My friends ALWAYS get mesmerized by it...They say that they can smell it before they see me...I believe it. I might be a nerd when it comes to the science and art of perfumes, but I have been wearing tones of fragrances all my life and I could honestly say this is the one that I would never get tired off...Can ANYBODY, please tell me how I can legally buy more of it? I live in Denver, USA. I can't seem to find it for sale over the Internet or from any dealer. I know that it is not sold in the USA but it is legal to buy it on line...From WHERE??? Thank you in anticipation.

Where is the incense in this perfume?. I cannot find it, and i have many incense fragrances. The smell remembers me to tobacco.
