20 / 20

20/20 is a classic rose scent featuring a predictable blend of notes. While it is nicely composed with good quality ingredients, it is nothing original and doesn't even feel particularly on theme. I associate the 1920s with bold Guerlain greats like amber classic Shalimar or ultra-powdery L'Heure Bleue rather than a rose-patchouli scent. Still, I love rose scents, and would own a whole bouquet of rose perfumes if money (and/or sense!) allowed, and 20/20 is an excellent example of the genre. It reminds me of Frédéric Malle Portrait of a Lady in particular - a rich, dark rose, laced with patchouli and spices on an amber base. 20/20 features rosy pink pepper up top, complementing the rich rose that follows to perfection. The peppery spice is enhanced by green, freshly herbal geranium - a note that marries well with rose in general. The rose itself unfurls from initial spray; rich, dark, smooth and realistic. Soft, warm spices complement it beautifully. As it develops, a cloud of patchouli emerges, making for that classic hippie rose accord. It adds a nice earthiness, again complementing the rose and geranium of the opening beautifully. The resinous amber accord develops slowly in the background, sweet and balsamic, tying everything together beautifully. There is a rich, honeyed quality to the amber here, enhancing the rose to perfection. The rose becomes powdery as it develops. It fades to a sweet amber skin scent with some rose and patchouli remaining until final fade. Sillage is moderate and longevity is long-lasting. It is transeasonal, and day-to-night appropriate. A great example of a high-quality, classic rose scent, 20/20 is a nice alternative to POAL. Feminine-leaning in my opinion, but it is a good contender for a unisex rose scent. Right up my street, but objectively excellent regardless. 4.5/5.

Vision To have perfect sight is to have 20/20 vision. But there is a difference between sight and vision. Vision gives us the ability to see beyond what our eyes are limited too. Similarly, Fragrances have to ability to be much more than the sum of parts. It can change your mood, evoke memories and transport you out of quarantine. As such, I think of all the fragrances I smelt before Portrait of a Lady and after. This masterpiece scent is such a hallmark. Many say it is the greatest "smell" much less fragrance they have ever smelt. I am inclined to agree. However, when you dive deeper into the reviews you see criticisms of how this frag is weaker today that it was and not as luxurious or rich as it previously was. So, What if there was a brighter version, sweeter, stronger, longer lasting, tangier, rosier, more luxurious and do I dare say....better?!? It pains me to admit it but this Olfactory award winning scent (J.F. 20/20) is indeed better that the latter. The differences are subtle, the inspiration is clear, but the scent is simply sublime in every way. The only knock is it very clearly is not as original or groundbreaking as POAL and that is why I would give it 4.75/5. The world changed in the year 2020, our eyes tell us there is no way the world will be better in the future but vision says this is not true. عطر ورد كلاسيكي جميل وغير حاد، الورد عميق والرائحة زاكية، العطر خطي بلا تقلبات. أجده ملائم لليالي الصيف وجميع فصول السنة ويصلح للمناسبات أكثر بسبب رونق الرائحة العريق ويصبح أكثر جمالاً إذا اختلط بالبخور، رائحة جميلة مع البخور لا توصف. العطر مصنع بطريقة آمنة وممتازة لا تكاد تشعر بأن العطر قد يزعجك في أي لحظة. يستحق التقييم 8/10 بالنسبة لي.

This is a beautiful rose, a spiced rose. If you want to diversify a little from Portrait of a Lady to wear something nobody else is wearing (here in the UK), this is it.

It's a rose, that's for sure. For those who like roses, then (with a little touch of that geranium from the world of ideas, but very light - for the other notes, I don't know). I love to share my days with this pretty flower, but I think this one is too classic to wear daily. It's pretty, very simple, with good staying power, but it is lacking a little something to make it a more wearable scent in 2022. But if it's just a "refresh" of this 1920 perfume, maybe that wasn't especially their goal. For your roarin' twenties parties.

And again another contender in the rose/patchouli category that is worth checking out I just try to see the best In fragrance brands but it’s impossible not to compare it to POAL What I assure you is that the quality of the ingredients is significantly less And surprisingly more spicy not in a better way to be honest I did enjoy it to an extent but I couldn’t shake the bad vibes of the overly used spices I personally do not need another rose/patchouli I already have the GOAT (POAL) Performance is slightly above average

This smells like a jar of olives to me, not roses, I quite enjoy that scent though, just not sure if I could wear this every day or make it my signature scent.

Rose, woody amber and slight bit of spice, overall amazing blend of scent profile. Doing okay in terms of projection. could smell my arm while typing after a two sprays (wild). Not too Unisex but also not too feminine either. Pretty basic scent, can't smell the patchouli. Definitely mature stuff (possibly milfs can pull this off idk).

I wanted to like 20/20 from the description but I don't know what happened to it. On paper the notes look fine but it is screechy and loud and like burnt rubber or nail polish remover or something awful. Maybe the amberwood, which doesn't seem to show up in much of the rest of what I own or have tested, just doesn't work on my skin. I had to scrub this off before I could even say what the longevity is.

When you read that 20/20 is like POAL, you better believe it. But there is always 'but'. It is like POAL of the current iteration, the green, flat, boring perfume that has zero of its past glory. It is greenish, geranium dominated perfume that definitely doesnt represent glamorous and extravagant 20s.

So far this has been closest thing to POAL in my opinion. Tart, deep, rich warm rose, lots of resins, lots of spice. I feel like this is POAL plus a strong geranium note which gives it a bit more vintage / herbal / fresh feeling (although POAL has it's own freshness to it) Of course I love this as POAL is one of my favourites although I still prefer it without that geranium note. Just sprayed poal on other hand: it's a lot sweeter and more resinous / warm spicy for sure. 20/20 on the other hand seems light and floral fruity in comparison when tried side by side. That said when i first sprayed it on I felt it was the next best thing to POAL Ive found (and I've smelled a LOT of comparisons.) Also this is fairly fleeting compared to FM. About a rose... Dunno why, but when i first sniffed this blend the cover picture of the survival horror game "Rule of Rose" came to my mind! just a short brief of the game, it's a survival horror game that has been banned in most of the countries because of violence and involving children orphan in it. The cover pic of that game is like the contrast of this blend & definitely not the game. It is a very rosy, peppery blend and i am not surprised that is inspired by the 20s, as that era was full of roses and glamour as they claim, and most fragrances from there (i think) has that rosy vibes. So it's rosy, pepper, amberwood YES, and patchouli mix. Beautiful smooth, and balanced indeed, no bloody nose kind of rose. Beautiful.

Are you worried about this fragrance not getting the proper respect? No worries. I'm about to put this on the map. This is an excellent fragrance that works on every level. This starts out with a big flabby rosy aroma and an obvious sinewy patchouli note that penetrates straight through the entire perfume. 20/20 has a vision to grace you with natural warmth accompanied by supporting scents of gooey benzoin and a touch of addictive amberwood. Herbal hints and touches of wood give the fragrance an extra dimension and complexity. It's the pink pepper note that takes this from trendy to sterling. 20/20 will get you one step closer to the person you aspire to be.

Indeed reminds of Portrait of a Lady on first spray. In the drydown though the geranium takes centre stage and the scent becomes colder and greener. Its more wearable than POAL. Altho unisex, as a man I would not easily wear this.
