Altruist Eau de Parfum

Altruist is a pleasant aromatic citrus-chypre centred on a fresh, realistic ginger note. Ginger can be a difficult note to use in perfumery, but this is one of the most seamless inclusions of ginger I have come across in a scent. Altruist opens with the aforementioned ginger note, as if freshly grated from ginger root. Citrus complements it nicely, adding freshness; and here it resembles a classic cologne as a result. As it develops, nutmeg emerges, rounding out the ginger-led spice accord, making things warmer and more aromatic. I get the pepper note, adding edge. Fresh, dewy florals round it out, with light, realistic orange blossom most prominent, a nice development from the citrus opening without being syrupy. As it dries down, earthy patchouli forms the modern chypre base alongside dry, woody vetiver. It becomes slightly balsamic as it fades, woody and spicy until final fade. Sillage and longevity are moderate. It is good quality and pleasant throughout. Altruist is an easy-to-wear, transeasonal unisex scent, set apart by its ginger note. Aromatic and restorative, it is elegant yet relaxed, ideal for everyday use. 4/5.

Citrus/green bomb opening. Fresh/woddy or slight patchouli dry down. Fresh spicy note due to black pepper and citrus combo. A mid scent. Not bad nor good, just meh. Citrus gets completely lost after dry down. The wood and slightly fresh/soapy scent is only left and it comes off quite unbearable and woody like. Not much here. Mid projection and silage. EDIT: I was looking to wear and resonate with fragrances so I completely ignored the form of Art that was just displayed before me through this sample. This definitely tend to remind me of a blank canvas board.......... which is very insane because that's the point of this perfume......Véronique Nyberg created this specific bottle to represent the scent of painting and paint boards which is accurate at the dry down in the most confusing way possible. It does smell like photorealistic painting board to me, the back bone woods used on a rectangular canvas and the linen or hemp stretched by the bar, insane work. Totally blown away.

I mostly have a lemon/ginger/cedar pyramid, but to tell you the truth, that's about as far as it goes. I think this is my first encounter with Ambramone, and I'm not sure if I'm getting the woody/amber aspect advertised on the Mane website (or a very white/light wood). Orange blossom somewhere? I really don't see it. Not convinced, compared to other more interesting finds in the collection.

Strange and a weird approach to perfumery I’m not sure what kind of ginger others are smelling what I got was a faint citrus in the opening then the sea notes (aquatics) got a grip on the scent so fierce that the rest of the notes are fighting for their lives to show up and perform It’s a bad concoction that I found seriously disturbing I didn’t enjoy it at all I won’t say I hate it but there is no chance I will waste my money on it Performance was moderate and it didn’t project at all

Enrium has a great review, definitely agree. I will say that for me, this has much less evolution than they say in their review. Can be said to be a modern citrus chypre ala Dusita Moonlight in Chiangmai, but more modern than that. Chypre elements are toned down in relation to the lemon ginger. A calming wear. Not exceptional at first sniff, but I’m glad I kept it. Really grew on me. Main use case for this scent is if you are searching for ginger as a note. Not particularly spicy, but very realistic ginger otherwise. If you want a ginger, highly recommend giving this a try. Can be found at quite cheap prices.

I didn't try the original, but my initial impression of the parfum is that it's very close to L'eau Froide by Serge Lutens. Zesty sweet citrus, tickly pepper and an ozonic, salty water note that smells clean and crisp. The rose note is light, airy and tannic, a bit like tea. It has a glossy sheen to it that elevates it above a typical sporty ozonic fragrance. One of the few ozonic scents I actually enjoyed wearing.

Received a free sample from Lucky Scent. Light citrus but nothing special. Low sillage/longevity. I won't be making a purchase.

The pachouli and black papper makes here a very nice combo. Fresh citrus. Love it.
