Rausch

I can smell a FRUIT (citrus? pineapple?). Rausch smells like a smoky candied fruit. This fruit is not listed, but it reminds me of Black XS (not kidding) and Oud Immortel Byredo. The sandalwood is there, but it's hidden by the other notes. After a shower, you will be left with some ambroxan on your skin. The worst part happens if you go to bed without showering. In the morning, the remaining skin scent is identical to dried saliva of a smoker. But on clothes, the dry down is divine. The opening is gorgeous. This is not a sillage monster. My colleagues didn't smell my 4 sprays, they had to come close. They said the Jubilation I wore the day before (also 4 sprays) was much more potent. EDIT: This stuff has incredible longevity. I did not shower. 16 hours after application, I sprayed some Déclaration d'un Soir before going to bed. This actually made Rausch reappear and projecting, and it is the only thing I could smell. So, as I said above, Rausch is not a projection monster but YOU will smell it all day long. Perhaps too special to be a signature, but too good so I will always have a bottle of it.

I am wearing my sample of Rausch this evening....very nice, elegant, full-flavored, oudy but not overly oudy, oud fragrance that, in my opinion, works for both the guys and gals. In some respects it's a typical oud-vanilla-amber fragrance, but Rausch has a couple ingredients that make this scent very interesting such as cypriol oil and some kind of fruity notes. Sometimes I detect a strawberry which makes it lean slightly more feminine; sometimes pineapple which makes it lean slightly more masculine; and sometimes a strawapple just to make things ever more interesting. Although Rausch has only been on my skin for about an hour, I can tell that it's going to have solid above-average performance. But the folks at Schwarzlose crafted a Western oud fragrance that doesn't get out-of-control or wreak havoc. Moreover, I'm picking-up an ISO-E-Super accord that just seems to work with this creation, which I am enjoying very much at this point in my experience.

I feel like this perfume does what everyone says Musc Ravageur does. It smells like skin + sex. It drives me nuts that people just repeat the ad copy when they go on about Musc Ravageur. So it's accepted as the perfume that smells like sex just because everyone reads the ad copy. The best thing I ever read about it, someone said something along the lines of "it smells like a Cinnabon got dragged across sweaty balls." Which I thought was funnyy as hell but I never got that skin sweat sex smell from it myself. Anyway, I never "got" that perfume, it just smells to me like a basic &itch of an amber. When I smelled Rausch, my reaction was: Ah, THAT'S what they were trying to do with Musc Ravageur. It helped me appreciate that perfume, but this is one I actually crave to smell, though I feel like it's a little scandalous to douse yourself in and then go out in public.

To my nose, this is sex in a bottle. And not the kind of sex you'd have after a night out, just for the sake of sex, but the kind of sex you have with someone you have incredible chemistry with. Someone you've been longing for, for a while. It's dirty, it's sweet, it's musky. It's manly. Or is it feminine? That's the thing: Not everyone can pull this one off. It's the kind of scent that will choose you, and not the other way round. I never buy a perfume at first sniff, but that's how long it took me before I had to make this scent my signature perfume. I felt as though I just had no other choice. This is also not the kind of perfume you want to smell on a strip of paper - it needs to be on your skin. If you're right for it, it'll let you know.

Veronique Nyberg whiffed on the naming of this bottle. Instead, this fragrance should be called, "You can't go a day without me."....I find this oriental to be spirit lifting, sensual, and relaxing. It didn't take long for me to realize that this was in the territory of Big Boy sillage. The combination of patchouli, amber and vanilla never smelled better. The aroma of vanilla bean paste glazed over cooked wood is more than enough reason to crack the head of the piggy bank. The Scentstory comparisons are true but it isn't the same back up when the real fragrance is in front of you. BLIND BUY WORTHY

I have tried many fragrances, but continue to think of this as my all time favourite. An amazing sweet, smokey, dirty oud. I get the night club thing - it is sexy but grungy at the same time. Something in this scent really clicks with me. There is a slightly repulsive dirtiness in the background that adds to its edginess. At the same time I keep wanting to smell it and will grab it out of the cupboard in passing to give the sprayer a sniff. I am an addict. It is the fragrance that to me, more than any other oozes sex. I can't get enough of it.

This is a sweet, skanky fragrance. It's animalic (which I love when done correctly) and this one is done correctly. This is not a fragrance for beginners into the world of niche perfumery. This is not just vanilla and amber. The oud is very pronounced in this fragrance. This is perfect for the cooler weather. I fear this would be a little too funky in the heat. But this is one I happily wear in the winter.

It does not really work on my skin, but I love it on others! It is dark, yet fresh with the patchouli and smells like nothing else! really special and luxurious! on clothes it stays for days and the projection is really good!

Rausch will not be ignored! I'm still getting to know this beautiful fragrance and find it irresistible. This works for me magnificently if worn with restraint. It's taken me several attempts to find the right number of sprays for my body (1) and the right location (low on the decolletage). My first wearing nearly ended in tears and included headaches and sneezing fits. As much as I am attracted to oud and incense, 3 sprays was way too much. I do wonder if I am sensitive to oud, or if perhaps it is the cypriol oil that caused that reaction? With a light hand, however, it is immediately gourmand on my skin, though far from edible, and, impossibly but I swear I feel it, a deep pulsing rose. The projection is almost embarrassing, not for the faint of heart or shy. I received a wonderful compliment from a young handsome man who described my scent as "vintage and something delicious" and would not stop sniffing the air around me. It's powerful and takes no prisoners, leans masculine, yet I know this works with my chemistry perfectly. The best news; at one spray per wearing, I've got a 50ml lifetime supply. A blind buy I am immensely happy to have in my wardrobe.

A very nice woody/vanilla, perfectly balanced, with that sawdust/cutting edge like a papyrus leaf still green on the top notes. The base then evolves into something almost dry, powdery earth + plastic (both classic and dark, vegetal and invigorating at the same time as very urban), even a citrusy hundredth in a way, definitely original, which gives a whole other dimension to this perfume. Somehow, it reminds me of the kind of composition we often think of at Comme des Garçons, maybe in a less convoluted way (which is not necessarily a bad thing). I think it's both very modern and far from the classic pitfall of the vanilla/oud/sandalwood composition that is too sickening. Overall, it seems to me that Nyberg accomplishes a beautiful figure here by making things both intense/spicy, detailed/spoken, and very light on the nose, skin along with the mind. I almost wish the bottles were a little more elaborate, or appealing in a more artistic way, because conceptually, the brand really seems to be holding something up. In any case, it is once again a beautiful discovery and clearly a perfume that I would enjoy giving as a gift.

Very interesting perfume. It has a very strong and sharp opening that kind of smells tangy on me and I kept checking if it had any citrusy notes. I don’t get any Oud or incense notes but what I get is intriguing enough for me to keep wanting to smell it. I wonder at what stage the vanilla and Amber kicks in or it is just mild and unnoticeable to my nose in this blend. I have tried layering it with some of the sweet scents I have and it has made the scent a lot more interesting. Longevity is very decent and it is unisex safe. The scent is not so unique that you will say “Ha, she is wearing Rausch” but it is also not mainstream either and generic that you will smell like so many other people. I got an extremely great deal on it and it was a blind buy so I am happy with what I ended up with and I can wear it on it’s own or layer it to create something unique to suit my mood. I had never heard of this brand and I am happy with my first encounter with them. I have the bottle with the limited edition gold front and that’s what attracted me to the perfume, so I like the bottle.

Yet again another well balanced scent, the amber and oud gap is almost indistinguishable. And sweet balsamic/ frankincense (Cypriol) note tries to sneak in at the drydown as you take a hard whiff to understand the notes better and eventually comes out as oud & vanilla prominent perfume. Beast projection and sillage just like other J.F.S.B i have had a taste of before this. I can't imagine myself wearing this unless I'm going to an old church but it is one of the best in the house. Both this and Trance have an identical oud DNA but this one has it stronger than most within the house. Genuinely speaking, so far this is the most "frankincense done right" cologne you will get compared to most bottles out there. I have yet to like the "frankincense" note in most cases except this one who might have just delivered it well. V. Nyberg knows how to play that faul and specific note well, as she did in Invictus victory, as she did with styrax in leader 6, and with labdanum in trence. All in purpose of embodying a concept. Crazy lady.

This is a badass fragrance! It's like if Dirty English skips the part where it holds a razor against your throat, and promises that it will just beat you. For starters, it surely sounds kind of intimidating to a non-German speaker. I don't know, but if I'd say to someone "Dude, your perfume rocks! What is it?" and he answered "Rausch, Schwarzlose" I'd think that he has just told me to shut up and get lost. Or "Go back to your mother boy while you're still not crying!", if there was any lipstick on the lips that would have uttered the words. But I have a feeling that in the end, we would be best buddies, trying to bring drinking the bars dry under "Mission accomplished" status, so as to justify its name. Something tells me that its "meaning business" aura would be a blast combined with some 30 years old Talisker. Amber, oud and sandalwood, drenched in smoked and peated liquid gold. Can you think of anything better?...

funny perfume! I've got all mixed feelings after spraying it - on one hand it instantly reminded me of Baccarat Rouge 540 (my all time favorite perfume), on another I felt a strong urge to open the window. it smelled like the morning after a passionate night, in a hot room in summer. it was overwhelming and I couldn't imagine it being worn in the office. some half an hour later, the similarity to BR540 is still there, less sweet, less cloying and I love it! I would totally wear it in public - maybe not apply it in a public washroom though!

Elegantly oud/amber/vanilla fragrance, different than others due to the addition of cypriol oil. There is a slight sweetness to it, not sure what it is. I own many oud fragrances and this one is the most wearable, whether at the office or socially. It is not beast, rather moderate, but that what makes it so wearable. Overall I like it a lot, very well done.

I tried this for the first time today, the best compliment I can give it (and I really like it) is that it completely captures the spirit of a cool night in late autumn on the streets of Berlin... think the dark smoky corners of a Kreuzberg bar... maybe Würgeengel. It’s a place to where I long to return, but for now, this will take me there.

Wore this tonight and my wife noticed it, says it smells very formal, like what you might wear at a business meeting. I was surprised because I didn't get that but her nose is quite sensitive and I trust her opinion. She like it though and called it a "keeper. She does not notice many of mine so this is a compliment for this one.

An ancient ambery oud perfume with a sweet background of vanilla, with an incense character from the frankincense (the frankincense was not mentioned in the notes, but I notice that this feeling may come due to the cypriol oil note). It gives you the feeling of entering a sacred place.

Very sensual, you can feel a magic blend of oud, amber and vanilla which gives a super sexy vibe. It was also a blind buy for me and it's simply a unique scent that got me lots of compliments as well. Performance is excellent. 8/10

Heavy amber, sweet vanilla and sandalwood are dominant in this scent. Definitely worth a try simply because of its originality! It's a bit too cloying for me, though.

Got this in a LuckyScent freebie mixer. It's a spray sample and I'm halfway through wear #2. I definitely see why 24 Gold currently has the most votes in the "reminds me of" section - it's has similar syrupy sweet vanilla oud combo, but this is dirtier and earthier (in a good way). I like the nagarmotha in this. It's a little too cloying for me personally, so a purchase is not in my future, but it's still intriguing enough that I'm happy to have several more wears available in that little spray sample. Incredibly strong performance- go easy on the trigger. The sweetness wore down deep in to the dry down (thankfully). Still a strong skin scent on my wrists when I woke up in the morning.

Good The whole time I was wearing this one all I could think about is ok What I can attest to there is no oud here it’s an accord smoky to be precise And for some reason the resinous feeling of leder 6 from the same brand was present I just felt it was mediocre The brand has a better ones Just as the rules of this incredible world it’s either one or two from almost every brand that genuinely blows me away and this brand is no exception Good one until the next one

I think this fragrance seems straightforward enough but flirts with danger for me. I think it’s trying to depict a modern amber fragrance with little jewels, little pops of flavour emerging every so often. For me the danger lies in an animalic labdanum facet usually (but not exclusively) manifested by Ambrarome. A material which is sort of fascinating and smells like one of my favourite resins while also turning my stomach and texturally adding a wierd offness I associate with stagnant, muggy water or something? This perfume just about gets away with it because the balance is clearly been thought about but I don’t think I like the rest of the fragrance enough to rescue it. Update 16/03/26 Revisited these perfumes last week and I’m afraid I was far too nice to this... pardon my French but Rausch is fucking disgusting. It’s not only the Ambrarome giving that creepy horridness but the dry, norlimbanol or similar ambery woody stuff making it so desiccated and hollow without any of the charm of legit ambers which combine vanillic elements with dry woods. I gave it a chance above because it does get more tollerable in the drydown but that says it all really. Largely like this brand so not a slight on them at all but this one is not my bag at all.

Definitely contemporary in style and composition. It is a sharp, medicinal amber, followed by some oud and green, citrusy greenness. I find most ambers quite cloying and sweetish, but this one goes in a different direction. There is a lot of similarity with Trance and the base for the other three of fragrances of the house. Very long lasting, good projection. While it is somewhat linear and not particularly complex, it is still fairly interesting. Maybe more suited for younger people. Overall, 6.5 out of 10.

Stinky amber-vanilla combination. Which is, first, so tired in 2025, everyone smells like amber-vanilla, I cannot escape it in public, and, two, it is just gross. It's sharp and cloying and does not work for most people's skin chemistry but they keep insisting on wearing it anyway! Delusion. Ew.

Rausch is a boozy woody-vanilla scent, pleasant and well-rounded, but nothing unusual. The vanilla is dry and powdery - almost papery - and the amber is nicely balsamic. The oud is dry and woody instead of skanky/animalic - marrying beautifully with the amber-vanilla. It becomes smoky and slightly leathery as it develops, edgy but wearable. Rausch has a boozy opening, with dry, powdery vanilla emerging early alongside sweet, balsamic amber. Woody notes follow, complementing it beautifully. It becomes very dry and slightly smoky as it progresses. Patchouli and cypriol give an earthiness to the base, slightly grungy - providing a nice counterpoint to the balsamic amber-vanilla base. There is a leather quality here, which, alongside the booziness and smoke, brings to mind a biker bar. As it develops, sandalwood comes to the fore, eclipsing the oud and marrying beautifully with the vanilla-amber. It adds a polish to the later stages of this scent. It fades to a dry woody-amber skin scent with a whisper of vanilla providing sweetness until final fade. Sillage is strong and longevity is long-lasting. A nicely-composed, slightly edgy woody-amber-vanilla scent, this is perfectly unisex and best worn in autumn/winter. Nothing unusual, but decent. 4/5.

this one when dries down turns extremely to The Dark Heart of Old Havana by 4160 Tuesdays. the smell of a smoker's mouth & his cotton shirt that has been soaked in Marlboro red smoking cigarette smoke when he wakes up in the morning after sleeping in 4x4 meters dark cold room, where you can smell the smokey cotton, smokey mouth, & mouthful coffee essence. although with the top notes the dried fruits exists, but i wouldn't want to smell like that at all. Edit (21st July 2022) I don't know what did i write 8 years ago!! but partially (for now) don't believe him :D It turns bit like DHOOH, i guess yes but it is a less sweet with more amber, sandalwood, and vanilla. i guess i sense some agarwood somehow, but more sweet amber, and sandalwood. This is a very safe blend that you can purchase and enjoy it's dark and mild sweet. Very balanced, and pretty indeed. The brand wrote "The ecstasy of a Berlin night", and i see it yes indeed, as i can start to detect some fizzy sweet note within. The colder it goes the prettier it gets. And this particular for the ones who loves "Baccarat Rouge" type of fragrances cause the drydown is actually like Baccarat.

Adjectives for Rausch: Dry, smoky, bitter, woody. Adjectives for Rausch drydown: Sweet, amber, incense, sultry, woody, patchouli. You know you like those intense, woody, smoky, incense, in your face perfumes once in awhile. The problem is that they either remain too intense, or they wear that way for an hour and then disappear into nothing. Rausch does a great job at being full, intense, but then, subtly, it will change on your skin, and become sweeter, less dry and woody, with more amber and patchouli instead. On the top I smell a ton of the Cypriol Oil, which is the same thing as Papyrus, which is papery, dry, and bit smoky on me. The Oud veers this close to being filthy, but never goes there, it remains incense-smoky but burns relatively clear. The sandalwood it present throughout. Raush stays like this for a good hour or two, and then slowly dries down, vanilla here, now a slightly floral patchouli, finishing into an addicting amber. I would only wear a spray or two of this at a time, and if you're worried about offending anyone with your perfume, fear not, the drydown is very sweet and happy.

There is a new trend in perfume industry called AMBER WOOD... .ethyl malton(soliflores are also in) and I am loving it! Some houses use it in abundance and some in lesser amount.. Almost all mass appealing perfumes uses this basic molecule and heavier use of it is most probably used by By The Fireplace by Maison Francis Margela.. Armani stronger with you.. Br540...parfums de Marly Kalan and also by RAUSCH.. NEVER THE LESS... Rausch has decent performance and is likeable.(by certain category of people) . If I put "ME" out of the equation.. Then Rausch is a little challenging(oudy part) but well crafted.,smooth, smokey and sweet..Glimpses of repetition here and there. For me it is addictive.. Like... kalan.. By the fireplace.. Br540(Extrait).. Stronger with you..ariana cloud.. Chanel (parfum)...

Wow, this is bomb, such a good smoky, woody, balsamic amber with a little bit of barely sweet vanilla. The very first second it reminded me of By The Fireplace MM, but it quickly gets deeper and darker and nowhere near as sweet as the Fireplace, so pretty much the resemblance ends in the first 30 seconds or so. I kinda regret not buying it right there and then when I tried it, my only concern was that it is more masculine but I'd still love to have it. The oud in it is soft and nothing animalic or rubbery and harsh about it, very smooth. Reminds me of my beloved and discontinued Sahara Noir TF in the later drydown. I don't detect anything related to BR540 (which I can barely stand).

rausch by schwarzlose is inspired by a berlin night out in shady bars. i lived for 14 years in berlin, i love the shady bars and have called them my home. rausch reminds me of the times in my 20s when the nights ended badly. it is the early morning hours, light already, you smell of smoke and booze and that beer you spilled over your leather jacket. and the now almost empty bar smells of leather jackets, sweat and cigarette butts drowned in sweet liquor rests in half empty glasses. you stayed out for too long, you drank too much, it was wild but now you just feel sick. epic as a memory. but not how i want my skin to smell. sweet, epic, horrible.

Much as I do not like classifying scents as masculine and feminine, and I welcome the idea of unisex, this is for me waaaay to manly to pull off. The initial spritz is a blast of oudh and sandalwood and amber. It is a strong, powerful scent. It changes little throughout and remains pretty constant. I am not much of an oudh fan, so maybe this is why is does not impress me much and has a leather quality of it. I do not get much of the vanilla. I find it a bit tiring after a while. Maybe it is one of those scents that work well outside, but in my bedroom, I find it overwhelming.

Overall a very voluptuous, bold and dark fragrance, which in the beginning sparkles with some glistening, almost electric amplitudes over the simmering oud/cypriol blend... To my nose RAUSCH is somehow related to scents such as Duro, Baudelaire or Carner Cuir, but with some extra weirdness, though not really a good one. Strong tendencies of being way too cloying and annoying. Olfactory equivalent to a night out at the Berghain... To each his own.

Well this is different. Weird, intriguing, yet not bad. I get... a kind of rubber, a cotton candy smell like from Baccarat Rouge 540, halitosis (bad breath), and maybe like a almost burnt sugar/fruity smell as well - like leaving sugar in a heated pot too long that it starts to blacken. Impressions from just having applied to skin.

This is if Sahara Noir TF and By The Fireplace Maison Margiela had a baby. Therefore- wonderful! Balmy, smoky, warm, comforting yet not too introverted scent. Very good lasting power with moderate sillage.

This smells like a watery strawberry scent - once again, think 80s Strawberry Shortcake doll type of magic. Great scent to have in your toy box and not on your person - unless you're under 12.

A softly soapy, woodsy, vanillic wood, I do get oud, but more the sweet kind than anything skanky or animalic. Leans masculine, it's sweet but somehow stern or formal as someone said below.

This is my favorite perfum. Vanilla and Amber! I really love this scent. Rausch is totally sexy.
