Style Pastels Tender Green

If only this had more staying power!!! - this is a PERFECT green pastel: it lives up to its name 110%. Sharpness of green notes is subdued under the bountiful powderness and a drop of vanilla sugar is mixed in to rule out any "unisex/cologne/aftershave" associations. It is like looking into a lush spring garden through big windows of a veranda, bathing in the first sunrays wrapped in a thick shawl or a good old pashmina with that first cup of tea/coffee (choose as applicable) of the day and breathing this amazing energy in. For me this is a scent of being inside a clean, cosy and sunlit house/apartment with a view to die for. For an outdoorsy feel this fragrance lacks water, it is a dry green instead of wet green, like, say, Fidgi or L'Air du Temps, and much softer from the start if compared to Miss Dior ( also a dry green but one with a good olfactory kick in it when just having been applied ). I could easily see myself being a life-long addict of this: it makes me feel like I am a fairy, an elf, a nymph - something ephemeral in a way, because powder in this scent is rather like a levitating dry mist than a dense choking veil. What stops me from buying this perfume by a dozen is a) price ( rather high, considering point B) and b) the sillage and longevity are not something this scent can boast about. Both are relatively limited, and therefore I am treading carefully here. 1 bottle at a time with one eye on the budget and other million perfumes I can't wait to try.

This was the first Jill Sander fragrance that I purchased and appealed to me as it's described as a green floral and in part due to the tactile, unique packaging. It's quite an unusual fragrance it's slightly sweet but at the same time green with a tea note apparent in the dry down. This is a 'grown up', sophisticated scent, which does have the Jasmine powdery note but doesn't smell dated. I must admit, when I first got it, I just thought another waste of money, but my DH said it was quite nice and after trying it a second time, I'm appreciating it more and actually quite like it. It's longevity isn't too bad, which is good for me as not many do on my skin and with the bottle being opaque it protects the juice, which is nice touch.

scored a discounted 50ml bottle of this from an online pharmacy! this is very feminine and inoffensive, would not be out of place in a professional setting. the tea note is initially reminiscent of elizabeth arden (so not photorealistic tea, but a nice floral greeny perfumey tea), then sweetened by the jasmine which is what makes it 'powdery'. the bitter orange note doesn't turn this into a citrus perfume, but it adds a little sophisticated bitterness. i don't think this smells like laundry because i hate laundry scents. this is just powdery and a 'pastel' version of a green scent, which is where that association may come from. will be wearing this a lot!

Tender Green is indeed a lovely, fresh scent opening with a very prominent green tea note. The jasmine sambac in this fragrance is a nice balance and not as heady as other jasmines... well featured in the drydown with some sweet bitterness from the orange to add interest to the note. Very soft and pastel like and smoothly blended. I thought on opening this might be similar to Guerlain's Les Voyages Paris-Tokyo, but this is much more diffusive on the drydown, where Tokyo is airy and transparent with the addition of violet and cedar and somewhat stronger (which I prefer, however, it's less accessible). In any event, Jil Sander's is beautifully composed.
