Sun 30th Anniversary Edition

Citrus-y Orange-Blossom... Opens with a burst of citrus, orange blossom and soft woods that meld into a blend of white and yellow florals featuring ylang, all resting on a vanilla-wood & tonka base with the Sun DNA. For me, all the notes are there, but they work together to build an orange-blossom effect. Well above average performance from the start, but dark storage seems to have made it transition more seamlessly from the opening to the drydown. Contrast to Sun Jil Sander: These are different, especially in the openings, but there is a similar DNA in the drydowns. I'm comparing them side by side and Sun 30th Ann. Ed. is sunnier and more citrus forward, with an orange-blossom effect. There is a similarity in the bases, however, but with Sun 30th leaning woody and Sun leaning amber. Both have well above average performance, although Sun 30th Ann. Ed has a brighter projecting opening. Overall: a beautiful & versatile orange-blossom scent profile and well above average performance, this is the perfect mood-lifting scent for lightening up. It's a love for me. A cheapie gem. Enjoy! Update 08/13/24: Sprayed this on my left hand this morning. Gorgeous citrus-y orange-blossom opens that is built with petalia, so you get hints of clean laundry and other white-florals such as jasmine & neroli. If you're noseblind to petalia, this may smell the same as the original DNA from Sun Jil Sander, as over time, the OG DNA starts to come through with solar notes, ylang & soft, creamy woods. Love it. Update 06/17/25: Wore this yesterday, and noticed that it has gotten a lot more woody over time in the bottle, and still leaves a white floral impression though not as strong as before. It's definitely gotten more similar to the original Sun Jil Sander although they aren't the same. Love it still.

The citrusy opening of Sun Anniversary is reminiscent of the citrusy Guerlinade opening of Shalimar EDC. Sun Anniversary develops differently and is far less powdery and complex than Shalimar EDC but there is still a similarity there which is something that I was totally not expecting - it's almost like a summery version of the Guerlain.

I was told by the assistant in the Fund Grube in Maspalomas that this is the same fragrance Sun has always been, just in a different bottle. The middle is white, the base is transparent. I only had a quick test but think it's the same. They only had very large bottles so I just bought a litle bottle of Sun like I normally do, I prefer small bottles for handbag size. I've been using Sun since I was 23 n I'm 47 now n still love it.
